My girlfriends and I had dinner at One North to celebrate a birthday last month and we enjoyed our visit. I tried the Shrimp Cavatappi and it was just the right amount of food to fill me up. The dish came with quite a few decent sized shrimp in it, which was a pleasant surprise since most restaurants throw 3-5 small pieces on top and call it a day. After about 10 minutes waiting for the staff to even notice we were there I asked the waitress her opinion on one of the choices loaded tater tots she hesitated and I said you even eat here? Finally she said oh she couldn't eat the potato skins because they were new but she's eating the tater tots and they were okay so I ordered that. my sister wanted the tornado shrimp and she said oh sometimes it's really hot okay first lady in our group ordered a pulled pork sandwich I noticed the mess on her plate when she was done I also noticed that whatever it was in a bun a rap whatever was burnt second lady ordered a chicken avocado wrap she said she wish there was more avocado there was one tiny piece she also ordered onion rings which were so overdone and crispy I'll admit they were really crispy you couldn't taste any onion my sister ordered the tornado shrimp it was sweet not any heat at all and we suspect it wasn't shelled before they battered and fried it I ordered the tater tots do not get the tater tots they were incredibly bad I couldn't eat them I asked for them extra crispy okay so they were pretty dark fried they were crispy on the outside inside they were dry mushy potatoes if that makes any sense they were not tater tots they were their homemade or restaurant made they had some kind of a pink sauce that was not good I found one piece of bacon. There was green onions on it so I thought all these green onions will help make it taste better I couldn't taste the green onions they were just awful service was very poor we were there for a very long time and very disappointed in our food the iced tea was good read more

When trying to book an event while out of town, I found One North Kitchen online on a list of family friendly restaurants. I checked with several places that didn't bother to get back to me but Ben Dodge from One North Kitchen replied promptly and was able to furnish food, beverage and room choices that were very accommodating. I very much appreciated the prompt and professional service as well as the menu flexibility . P.S. Got to the restaurant and was sat next to a group of 12 people. The servers, and what looked to be the manager, walked past our booth roughly 5 times or more without saying a single word about if we had been helped. Decided to leave after sitting for 25 minutes without service. The hostess didn't even say have a great day when walking out. Food looked promising, but overall was a bad experience. Enjoyed lunch recently at the west Lansing location with a friend. I had visited the restaurant a while ago, but that visit wasn't particularly memorable. This trip I was pleasantly surprised by the service and the menu. I had the chicken noodle soup and a patty melt while my friend ordered the pot roast; perfect choices for a cold and gray January day. The soup had a flavorful broth and plenty of chicken. The noodles weren't mushy and neither were the vegetables. The patty melt was cooked to medium rare as requested. The seasoned French fries were addictive. My friend's pot roast tasted homemade and was served with mashed potatoes that would rival any your grandmother could make. The large portion was covered in a rich, beefy gravy and the vegetables were also cooked to perfection. My friend specifically commented on how well the carrots were cooked. Our server was friendly and attentive, checking on us frequently and bringing beverage refills without being asked. The only thing preventing me from giving the restaurant five stars was that the food could've been warmer. When we mentioned this to our server at the end of the meal she "scolded" us for not letting her know sooner so she could rectify the situation. It's difficult to believe the restaurant has been in this location for several years and this was only my second visit. It's my mistake that I haven't come more often. A mistake I won't make again. Came here a few times and I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt but they make it difficult to support the business. Service is consistently slow. Whether they are busy or slow, I have a hard time reaching out to servers. On my most recent visit, the Manager cane to us that they have a 1 drink per hour policy. Our group, per our receipt had3 drinks in 4 hours and we were asked to "cash out." Dissappointing experience. read more

This is a real improvement over the previous restaurant that occupied this location-especially with the menu. Very nice redesign, good food, family-friendly and a great beer selection. They even have live music sometimes and it opens up to fresh air and outdoor dining in the warmer months. Not a lot of great restaurants on the W side, so it's worth a recommendation. Service and ticket times could be a bit faster, but it's a good place to hang out for a while with a group if you're not in a big hurry. read more

We had my husband's retirement party here and I could not be happier. We worked with Ben, the event coordinator, and he was so helpful and accommodating. We kind of threw him a curve ball when our numbers increased, but he graciously handled it and make it work perfectly. I have been to this restaurant twice now. The first time was very pleasant and the staff was accommodating of my service dog. I went here for the second time yesterday for a work function and, of course, brought my service dog with me. I was told that she doesn't "act" like a service dog. That "in their 25 years in the service industry that they hadn't seen a service dog act like that and that service dogs aren't allowed to be pet." That she couldn't be a service dog because she only had on a service dog bandana. I was eventually allowed to sit down but the person who challenged me and my service dog made me horribly uncomfortable. And don't think I didn't notice the fact that we weren't asked if we wanted anything to drink or brought water or anything for over a half an hour when the restaurant was almost empty or that I didn't notice you or your general manager walking around to view how me and my service dog were acting. Did it make you feel better that she was under the table, out of sight and being a "typical" service dog? Because it made me VERY indignant. If it hadn't have been for the fact that I was there for a work function I would have left. And I did make sure to let the person who organized the event know how I was treated. Those of us with disabilities have a hard enough time without having to prove to others that we have disabilities. Whether she "acts" like a service dog to you doesn't matter. She has been trained to accommodate MY disabilities not prove to YOU that she is a service dog. Please educate yourself and your staff on the laws around service dogs. You are allowed to ask 2 questions when you see someone with a service dog. 1. Is that a service dog/animal and 2. What two tasks does she perform for you. You are NOT allowed to ask what my disability is. Service dogs also don't have to wear a vest or any indicating items that they are a service dog. When their owners have them wear something like that it is a COURTESY. Just to let the general manager and their person who was disrespectful of me and my service dog yesterday know... I am in the process of getting a VOLUNTARY service dog registration through the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. I would have had it already if it hasn't have been for the pandemic. So, if you would like to go to this restaurant but have any person in your party with special needs I urge you to go elsewhere so that the person with those needs won't be treated in the manner in which I was. read more

Maybe slightly above average restaurant, but just barely. I went with a group of 8 people and I probably enjoyed my meal more than anyone else and I thought it was just average. The menu has too many items of different types (pasta, chicken, steaks, burgers, pizza, seafood, etc) to be good at any one thing. They put 2 (what believe were hexagon shaped) tables together for us which meant that 2 people in our group had to sort of sit at the indentations of where the two tables met. It was a very odd setup and the restaurant was not busy the night we went. Definitely won't make a special trip to go here again. read more

My partner and I recently visited for our anniversary- and it was hands down one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. We were seated outdoors in an igloo and never needed for anything- as the wait staff was tremendous! The food was also amazing! The drink selection was also expansive and the mojitos were incredible.
