Bartender knows her stuff when making a great Bloody Mary. To start I tried the " bump" of Caviar .... I was underwhelmed with the taste but appreciated the presentation & the staff that asked if I was experienced with Caviar. I would not get that specific brand of Caviar again. The food was more than satisfactory ( again presentation was great) . The bar seemed well stocked. We've been by multiple times now, and I can definitely say they've improved quite a bit since they first opened. Alex was a great server--he gave us some good recommendations and was prompt and attentive throughout our meal. We'll definitely be requesting him on our next visit. They're also very kid-friendly, with a kids' menu and nice-quality high chairs that have always been clean, which is a huge plus for us as parents. Price: The brunch prices felt very reasonable, especially compared to our earlier visits. The pancake tacos were a great value at $13. Food: The pancake tacos were excellent, and the cornbread has become a must-order for us every time we visit. The pretzel with cheese sauce is also really good, especially because the cheese sauce actually tastes like real cheese rather than the usual processed stuff. Whatever you're in the mood for, they've got you covered: the outdoor space is perfect when the Arizona weather cooperates, the indoor room has a wonderful atmosphere (if you know, you know -- think Star Wars cantina in the best possible way), and takeout is a reliable go-to when we want a night in. The food is exceptional and the staff and service match it. What we appreciate most is that they're bringing something genuinely original, sophisticated, and classy to the area -- the last thing this part of town needs is another chain, and One Story is the opposite of that. We also love the weekly events and the live music that pops up now and then. It gives the place real character. Beautiful decorated restaurant with a boho design and natural, warms colors and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They even have a great outdoor bar area that creates almost another experience. The service is slow and sometimes inattentive (and it wasn't even busy) and the workers and manager walking around look so serious all the time. The menu is small but there are options for every time of craving. The food is ok, nothing that wows you but also nothing that leaves you dissatisfied. We visited this restaurant several times because we wanted to support a local business and enjoyed the live music performances by Soul Painted. Over the course of multiple visits, we tried a variety of menu items. The bacon appetizer was much saltier than we prefer, and the spinach dip was thinner than expected. On Mother's Day, we ordered the chicken and salmon entrées, and both were dry, tough, and lacked the flavor we were hoping for. Given the holiday crowds, it's possible the kitchen was managing a high volume of orders, but the quality of those dishes did not meet our expectations. The bar experience was also underwhelming. We ordered several classic cocktails, including an Old Fashioned, French 76, and Paper Airplane, and were not prepared because they lacked the alcohol selection. The liquor selection also seemed more limited than we expected for a restaurant positioning itself as a fine dining destination. To be fair, not everything was disappointing. The hamburger was very good and was one of the better items we tried. The live music by Soul Painted was consistently excellent and was a major reason we continued to visit. While we appreciate the effort that goes into operating a local restaurant, our overall experience did not align with the prices being charged. We had hoped for a higher level of consistency in both the food and beverage program and ultimately felt the value did not match our expectations. read more

I have many people who said "not great and way too expensive" so we had not gone to check it out but a friend invited us to trivia night. Hard for me to order as I wasn't very hungry so I went for an app but the appetizer options were ehhhh. I ordered the calamari but there were more legs (squigglys) than ringed calamari. So for someone who hates that part of the squid - it was a waste of $18.00. The marinara is also way too sweet. It tasted like tomato paste out of the can. Wouldn't order it again. They are super spendy and the menu is high end for a shopping center BUT..... it's gorgeous! They did an amazing job decorating and making it super sexy. The ambiance of this place is sophisticated and cozy, social but intimate, and modern! All staff that we came in contact with was kind and welcoming. The food was, to my surprise, very good and flavorful! I ordered the Salmon and Sprouts and my husband ordered the Shrimp Sacchette. We started with the calamari which were cooked to perfection and the sauces were......OMG......just delectable!! My only "complaint" with my food is there was too much burnt Brussels. I liked the crispy Brussels and the char added another needed flavor profile but it did become too much for me. The mashed potatoes that came with it were good as well. My husband's Shrimp Sacchette was the perfect amount of creamy and the shrimps were big! To finish we ordered the Berry Cheesecake and it was perfect! I'd also like to note that this place seriously has some of the CLEANEST utensils that I've ever seen from a restaurant!! The only reason I'm giving this review 4 stars is because of our waitress whose service could've been a little better. We waited 15-20 minutes before going to find someone so we can get our check because our waitress had not checked back with us. Other than this small thing, EVERYTHING was great! Before we dined we visited Rumor Has It and that was also nice. The bites in there are a bit pricey but I must say that the charcuterie board they have looks DELICIOUS! Although the prices are a bit steep, we will definitely be back for another date night and I'm looking forward to attending their brunch one Saturday or Sunday. We found One Story on social media and decided to give it a try and it instantly became a favorite. The food and drinks were amazing, atmosphere and decor are gorgeous, but what really stood out was the holiday brunch experience. They went above and beyond. They had a Grinch who was actually hilarious and interacted with all the guests not just a quick drop by. They also had the kids write letters to Santa and send them off with return info. My kids later got letters back from the North Pole which blew their minds. I've honestly never seen a restaurant put that much thought and effort into something that goes beyond the time you're actually there. We left with full bellies happy kids and a new favorite spot. And the food was pretty great too! The first thing my husband said when he took a bite was "That's a damn good burger", which is high praise from him. My only complaint was that the tomato soup was a little too thick, almost like condensed soup that was still gloopy. But this meal was still closer to a 5 than a 4 overall. I really really wanted this to be a 5 star review because the ambiance is definitely 5 stars! We went with a group at 6pm on a Friday night. We were quickly seated in the outdoor seating area. Loved the vibe. The round tables were amazing and great music playing. Our waitress was Hannah and she was absolutely wonderful. However, our drinks took 20 minutes to get to the table EACH TIME, and our DDs (yay for non-drinkers) had to pay $4/each time for the lemonade in their Arnold Palmers(this is insane, we have nondrinkers who drink these all the time). The drink service from the bar alone made us rethink our choice. YIKES! We are all foodies and eat out regularly and are definitely willing to pay for great food, service and ambiance, so please know that! The ribeye was just ok, it came with a butter knife not a steak knife. He said it was OK. Two of us had the burrata with protein added. My salmon was delicious! However, there was no dressing, no salt and pepper, no balsamic on the salad it did have close to a head of roasted garlic!! I was starving so I ate it and kept dreaming of aomw sort of topping to add depth and some liquid to the very dry salad. See pictures (BTW we took the pictures before removing more garlic we found). Again great base and with a little tweak this would have been fabulous. The smash burger was just okay as well, decent for the cost. The other salmon was over cooked and under flavored as well. Throughout the dinner our drinks were very slow to come so it was a continuous rate for the establishment. We shared our love for the vibe but mediocre food with our friends as we all live in the neighborhood and were ecstatic for a new restaurant. This is the feedback eveeyone gave us as well.
