I had never ordered from One Wok before, but I needed to DoorDash Chinese and my usual takeout place wasn't on DD. Had I read other reviews before ordering, I might have kept looking. As it was, I decided to order a shrimp egg roll and Hunan Shrimp. It was easily the best Chinese takeout I've had in my 12+ years in this area. A few reasons why: the food was flavorful and not greasy at all, unlike many other places I've tried. There was definitely real Szechuan peppercorn in the sauce; I could tell from the persistent tingle in my lips minutes after I ate. The shrimp was generously-sized and generously-portioned, flavorful with that perfect "bouncy" texture. There was also a variety of vegetables in the dish: broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, onions, zucchini, bamboo shoots, baby carrots, snow peas, green pepper. So many places don't offer that nice variety, instead going heavy on the green peppers (which I dislike). My few quibbles were that there was only one egg roll, when the menu said an order was two. Not a huge deal, as I only needed one and the price was fair for one. The other was that I saw no opportunity for special instructions on the order (like "No green peppers, please"). But since the dish had a good balance of vegetables, it also wasn't a big deal. Maybe I caught them on an uncharacteristically good day? Don't know, but I'm going to keep going back until they give me a reason not to. read more

The chicken had a weird taste and was extra greasy, the egg roll was okay, the lomain was very very mediocre and the fried rice has like weird possibly fake meat or something very white and rubbery in it. A waste of $25, I threw half of it away and genuinely feel disgusted with myself for injesting any of it. The food was fast, and the egg roll was fine so I won't give it a 1 star. But honestly there are much much better places and this one probably shouldn't be open. read more

I tried one wok for lunch. I was skeptical because I haven't been able to find quality Chinese food near my work place. One wok was a bit of a disappointment. The rice lacked in flavor and tasted a bit stale. The portion of broccoli and shrimp was generous and flavorful enough to get down a bit of the rice which on its own I could not recommend. The egg rolls were pretty good and my coworker enjoyed them much more than I did. I hope to return if I see some reviews saying they have updated the rice recipe but until the. Since we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of a number of the dishes here, as well as the efficient delivery, we went right back for some more, some new choices, some that we tried the first time, and now we've ordered delivery from this tiny place 5 times. While not ever dish has been a winner, we've found plenty on this rather broad menu to bring us back. And the menu is broad, even offering Hibachi dinners and some Thai dishes - haven't tried them yet, but we might. And remember, this is Americanized Chinese food - no dim sum, no duck lengua, no duck of any kind. Would pass on: Chicken Wings (no Chinese based flavor), any Szechuan or Hunan dish, Pork Dumplings (strange after taste, weird texture), Scallion Pancakes (no flavor, thickness of pita, a stout pita),Tai Chin Chicken (just a mess of a dish!), and definitely pass on the Thai Shrimp Rolls - just bad stuff. Love, and have re-ordered: Shrimp Egg Foo Young, Black Pepper Chicken, Hot & Sour Soup, Egg Drop Soup, Scallion Beef OR Chicken, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, Pork or Shrimp Fried Rice, Pork or Shrimp Lo Mein, Singapore Rice Noodles, and the Spare Ribs are nice, though sweet. Deliver is both time and order completeness efficient - have yet to have an item messed up or missing in an order, and have yet to be disappointed in the time from order to door. When it comes to quick pick Chinese restaurants, this has to be my least favorite. I'll just give it to you straight. The rice is bland. The main entree, and I have had a few, lacks in flavor and the staff is usually rude and short. The restaurant itself doesn't seem to very clean and their fountain machine (Coke) needs a good cleaning. They have a buffet I think. At least theirs a buffet style set up but the several times I have been in, it has never been in use. The most disgusting egg rolls I have ever had came from this restaurant on 2 different occasions. I'm not sure if it was the rolls themselves, the oil they were cooked in, or something else but they tasted like they had been rolled in an ash tray. Neither time could I eat them and I haven't been back since the last batch. We used to eat here when we wanted quick pick Chinese because it was the closest but no more. I had been going past this location for a while now and have been wanting to come here for a while. I finally did, and I have been coming here ever since. I'm a big fan of their chicken lo mein. I always get a side of broccoli which isnt on the menu and they are more than happy to accommodate. Their delivery is fast and accurate, their food is well prepared, and they provide great customer service. I highly recommend this place. One Wok accomplishes its goal marvelously. That said, if you are not looking for a cheap, fast, American Chinese place, One Wok is not the restaurant for you. As a college student on a limited budget, One Wok is an ideal weeknight or late-night option that can feed an entire apartment for under $20. The food is consistent in its quality, which is more than good enough for me. Further, the portions are quite large, so I can usually stretch an entree into two or three meals. One Wok exemplifies the classic American Chinese take-out restaurant to a fault. If you stick to the classics--Hot and Sour soup, Scallion Chicken, etc--you'll probably end up happy. My crab rangoon was waved over the fryer for a light soggy texture while the chicken in my cashew chicken was cooked well beyond death. I'm still chewing it 4 hours later. This review is long overdue. I should have known not to order Hibachi from a Chinese restaurant, even though there are many Chinese restaurants out there that can cook Hibachi dishes that taste very good. Unfortunately, I had a coupon for two combinations and I ordered two Hibachi dishes. The process of ordering and delivery went well, until my food arrived. The dishes were nothing like Hibachi. It was more like steam chicken with broccoli and mushrooms, which is ordinary Chinese dish. Don't get me wrong, it was the right type of ingredients but wrong execution. The chicken was soggy and bland, the broccoli was tasteless and lacked crispness, and the mushroom were not the right mushrooms. I completely understand restaurants substitute ingredients to maintain cost, but when it doesn't even resemble a dish, then we have a problem. Even the white sauce that comes with it didn't taste right. The best of the part of the meal were the egg rolls. I can honestly say that I will never order form them again because it felt like they just didn't care. Please keep in mine that my parents have owned many successful Asian restaurants (sadly enough, I do not live near them). I am not a culinary expert by any means, but I know what food should look and taste like, especially in this genre and I was disappointed. read more

So ofcourse I call, the lady says "yes... yes... 10-15 more minutes "... Wait, What?! WHY?! I will not be ordering from here again.... Especially for mediocre Chinese, but I was hungry and assumed it would get here quickly due to being steps away from delivery location. Geez. 1:43p. Just arrived with NO drink ofcourse!! And it is shrimp Lo Mein, not Chow Mein. Jesus...how hard is it?! Ive been in the food industry 20 years... This is TERRIBLE. Flew in to Greensboro and I was very hungry. I was craving Chinese Food. I was given 3 menus at the hotel I stayed at for Chinese food that delivers. I picked One Wok. I ordered regular Egg Foo Young and Shrimp Fried Rice. Don't waste your time! The Egg Foo Young even with the gravy was tasteless. The fried rice, well what can I say "Yuck!" Just your average, efficient, convenient Chinese restaurant. The won ton soup was average and acceptable. It was good, but not great. I only eat here because I live around the corner, but I bet there is better Chinese in town. Decent selection on the menu, though. They offer Weight Watchers dishes, if you're into that.
