The seating is all wooden and pretty hard, so it isn't the most comfortable if you're planning to hang out for a while. Also, it was very warm inside. With a packed crowd and a couple of drinks, it got hot fast. I wasn't even dancing, and I was sweating! Turning up the air conditioning would make a huge difference and keep everyone much more comfortable. The drinks were good--not the best I've ever had, but definitely enjoyable. I think with a few tweaks to the cocktails and a cooler atmosphere, this place would be outstanding. One tip for first-time visitors: it's a little tricky to find if you're unfamiliar with the area. The entrance is through the alley, not directly on the main street, and it's only about the second building in. Parking can be a challenge, but that's more about the neighborhood than the venue itself. Overall, I had a really good time, loved the music and atmosphere, and I'd consider coming back. Even the security guards are cool AF. Not like a lot of other venues where security acts like they are cops lol Not here they get you through the metal detectors pat down and look in purses to insure you don't have anything harmful. (As fast as they can) Inside is a large dance floor, two bars, and a few tables for those who don't want to stand. The bars have amazing bartenders who are super chill. The restrooms are very well maintained and have the sweetest older lady working. (Make sure yall show her some love) They also have a huge outside patio that is a smoking area. I've never seen any food here only drinks, beer, shots, and water for sale. Overall Echoplex is an awesome venue for concerts.

I literally stop on the dancefloor when it is bad because I can't "fake it". I give this party 5 stars because they do a solid job of creating a party that has something for everyone. Mash-ups, dark dance floor, eccentric dancers on stage, Photobooth (with a creative and fun photographer), and good vibes. Los Angeles used to be filled with great dance parties all over the place. Now they are few and far between. Not to be a negative nancy but here are my gripes - When they are at the downtown location - it's really hard to dance on an incline. When they are at the echoplex - there is no where to put ur drink down and if u do the workers snatch it up quick. Some of the mash-ups blow. It's like everything has been done and they're just trying weird things together to be the first to put AC DC with Kanye (both really hard to dance to because I hate dancing to 80's stripper music and Kanye's music only accompanies his lyrics so it's usually not that great). It's a place you go to when you just want to dance and not worry about impressing other surrounding Angelenos. The mashup music room was my favorite. They play some amazing jams!!!! We went the evening of the Taylor Swift mashups. It was a great, fun experience! Oh, $10 cover charge. If you get there before 10pm (I think they open 9:30pm) then it's $5. The bouncers at the door weren't the most friendly either, but at least there wasn't a line (around 11pm).

Apparently promoters ask everyone to go and saw groups friends get broken up. I went with a friend who had this pass so it was somewhat easier to get in. The club does trend super young though as there were table where people were celebrating their 21st. But if you're into electronic music/djs they do get some artists you may have heard about.

We showed up here for the first time last night to see an Oakland band we love play their first LA…read moreshow. Walking into the venue (which must be entered from a remote back alley) people just outside said to us "you're walking into a WEIRD vibe". We thought that meant "punk", and we weren't completely wrong- but we were promptly informed the lead singer of the first band had dislocated her knee and torn her ACL on the stage- it is not known whether the stage caused this but most said the singer was not doing anything crazy in terms of movement. The ambulance was called, and the people in charge were managing the situation to the absolute best of their ability but that poor lead singer was on stage incapacitated with people all around her giving her conflicting advice. This poor thing. They moved all the bands down to the floor level after the first band in order to mitigate the situation. There were some massive sound quality issues, the lights stayed on for the entirety our out-of-town friends set, which they still played like champions- the closing band even had the guys in charge of wandering on the stages behind them and even onto the stage with them, mid-set- (to fix issues I'm sure). I just felt so bad for everyone involved: the injured band, the fans who paid and had to wait a long time through delays, the bands that played after the incident (the band we saw had the lights on the entire set too), and the crew running the show who were clearly just doing their best given the circumstances. I will say it was a calm intimate venue when it all went down- everyone was trying to help, just a crazy first impression of The Smell for us.

The piano player was unbelievable and could play literally any song that was requested, which made the whole night feel electric. Service at the bar was fast and kept things moving, even as the place filled up. Drinks came out quick and the energy never dipped. The ambience is super quaint and inviting. There are cozy tables, bar stools, and high tops if you want to sit, plus an open dance floor where everyone ends up singing and dancing together. Such a fun, feel-good spot. It's located in a really busy area of Hollywood on the Sunset Strip. I've only been to this venue twice that I can think of. Previously to watch a band I really enjoyed called Two Gallants. My most recent visit was for a comedy/ music night. It was during the Netflix is a joke festival entail. The concept of the show was comedians would go on and do a 10 to 15 minute set then they would either perform or perform an instrument for a song of their choosing. The show I went to had some heavy hitters! Including Bill Burr, Nikki Glaser, Brad Williams, and Jelly Roll among others. Bill Burr played on the drums for a Beastie Boys cover. Nikki Glaser did a Taylor Swift song and a duet with surprise guest Jason Mraz. Such a cool experience. If it wasn't so hard to get to this area of town for me or find parking in the area. I think I would come here more often. Otherwise, it's a bit of a pain.

I also like how it's a smaller venue so the show felt very intimate 10/10. The staff was so friendly and helpful there was no issues entering the venue. The bartenders were so attentive and quick i had my drink in less than five seconds which was nice bc there wasn't any long lines so I didn't waist time. I also like how they had parking in the back which was amazing no issues finding parking.

Beginning: we were greeted by security who checked us in right away. There was no long line and we got in with a breezes there was security at the elevator and he was nice enough to take our pictures. Middle: My group decided we wanted a table and the host was nice enough to get us a table even though it was last minute. She worked with us to make sure it was a win-win for the group and the establishment. SO. MUCH. FUN. great live jazz music. Everyone there had great energy. It didn't even feel like we were in LA it felt like we were in NYC. End: Our server was so sweet and on top of it. She got our drinks to us as fast as possible and made sure we were taken care of. I have not had as much fun as I did here in a long time.
