Went in on a Saturday night with a friend. The ambience was OK a little dark like that vibe for a bar. Their beer selection was very limited, which was a little disappointing. It was a little crowded, but the place is kind of small. Music is good if you like hip-hop. What I didn't like was when I got my bar time the bartender included her tip. I'm not sure if that is an LA thing but to where I'm from, you give tip to the bartender on your own and according to their service. I don't know where they get the sense of entitlement so be careful when going to this bar. Make sure you look at your receipt. For that reason alone, I am giving three stars. read more

Me and my lady friend pulled up last night just because we didn't want to call it a night. Found this place on Google Maps and decided to pull up. The place was small and there was nobody there checking people at the door so you're not safe from anyone on that bullsh*t. The young lady making drinks told me I couldn't have the Maltese Melody with no explanation, so I asked her why. So she just says "I can't make it right now". Perplexed and lightweight frustrated I went back to my lady friend and sent her up there to see if she gets a different answer. She comes back with these 2 drinks that were in 2 different size glasses and told me that the lady at the bar was pretty much empty so she gave us some type of blueberry juice with tequila or something. From the pictures I have seen of this place, I was VERY hesitant. It most certainly is a small bar, however it packs quite a punch I must say. This place is a classic Los Angeles vibe with little "rules". You know those typical places with a strict dress code and you have to act accordingly while you party with your friends...not this place. You have people drinking, dancing, standing on couches, etc. It's just a good time. Drinks are super heavy, so be prepared for that. And it's super cramped around 1130pm-1am. Might want to get there early to enjoy the space from 10pm-1130pm. read more

This staple is known by most ppl for LA. It's a very small bar/club, with a doorman. Bartenders are cool with great pours. Place gets packed out. There is tables and chairs among the walls. Went there for a couple hours last month, ran up a tab for under $50 and paid with credit card + tip (texted myself the receipt). When I checked my CC statement for the month I found another charge from The Dime the same night for almost $200 (and no receipt texted, bc it was straight-up fraud). I've been coming to the Dime more recently and it's never been bad, but when I went most recently, you can tell they put a lot of effort into revamping and it's definitely well worth it. They now have food and the wings are good! I should've asked for more sauce on my wings, only because I'm super saucy with food lol, but they had a great flavor and were fresh and hot. The vibe is nice, the music is always tailored to the crowd they have. The workers are so nice, they truly made my experience great! Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been in awhile or if you have never been! I'm not currently drinking but they did have a wide variety of drinks. The street parking around it isn't bad at all, I don't think I ever struggled finding parking. The bathrooms have never been nasty. It's not a large venue, but it's great to come to with some friends for some good music and great bites. Dj Noodlez is fire, from the r&b vibes to hip hop and pop, I have a great time everytime and I dance the night away lol. The improvements will just have me coming more often! read more

I came in on St Patrick's day and was pleased with the holiday menu created by the bartender Noah. I was pleasantly surprised by how well balanced the strawberry Negroni was. The fried chicken sandwich on the menu was also exactly what I needed. This spot has a great intimate vibe, and loved the live music. I'll put it to you like this, on the night Black Panther came out in theatres the late great Chadwick Bozeman spent the evening with friends at the dime. Now think about that, he could've been anywhere in the world but he was at the dime. My point is this is the kind of place that the biggest celebrities in the world can come and feel like just part of the crowd. The Dime is by far one of my favorite dive bars in all of LA. They keep a good rotation of djs and they all bring their own flavor. I'm a big 90's hip hop head and they're always playing dope stuff that I grew up on. Bartenders are always a vibe and pours are legit. I used to frequent the Tuesday comedy night when Adam and Nicky hosted and I can't count the amount of good local comics and famous comics I've seen for free here. Now that I'm older I don't go on the weekends as much because it gets stupid packed but if that's your things go for it. For the guys this is one of the best places to meet women because no one is pretentious here, just enjoying life and vibing. With Fairfax constantly changing by the day it's great to still have a local staple that hasn't lost its magic. read more

The Goods:The flowers go to the DJ. He had the dance floor shaking and for my best friendnwho came from out of town, it was definitely a wave. The bartender was extremely cute sns nice, the crowd seemed to be younger mixed with a sprinkle of over 40s heads. The space was intimate, so even with a small crowd only a few ppl can make it pop off. Met a cast member from the HBO show "Insecure" in the building so that made it well worth it. Ironically the bathroom was very clean for a regular place. The Bad: Obviously on a Monday I didn't expect the crowd to be hard-core deep but management obviously believed that VIP was gonna sit at EVERY table, so it looked very embarrassing when the person who could possibly want the VIP status stayed at the bar and opted to be just like the regular folks. Small bar with big vibes. The Dime is a good time, and one of the few bars that's actually jumping on a Monday night. Because it's literally as big as a dime, there's not much seating, and it may feel a little cramped on a busy night. That being said, the DJs are skilled, and the drinks are reasonably priced. Went to The Dime for comedy night and to catch the happy hour on Tuesday. The comedy was fun and the drinks were good. The bar is somewhat small but it feels intimate and it's a decent late night spot. But when it came time to pay at the end of the night the bartender handed me the touchpad to add a tip and I saw that my bill was almost $150 for 4 drinks and a burger w fries. After I asked the bartender for an itemized receipt he just so happened to mention that my bill was considered a large tab (I guess anything over $100 is a large tab) and that 20% gratuity was already added. I also noticed that everytime I ordered a whiskey sour and asked for it "up" there's a $2 or $3 charge to pour it into a stem glass for each drink. I'm not opposed to the idea of these policies but it's a little deceptive to just happen to not mention that your going to automatically add a 20% gratuity and then put a tip screen in front of me. I don't normally write a review but I'm not a fan of deception or letting other people fall into it. read more

Location is perfect bc so many residents can walk home and not drive. I will agree with everyone on the music being really good especially bc that rnb contemporary funk is my vibe and the crowd were incredible- very sophisticated. I've only been twice in 2.5yrs and I live right there. And I'm someone that goes out almost every day of the week. Main thing that sucks is it doesn't open until 10pm.. it's a residential area so it's a better spot for pre drinks or whatever while we're waiting for the group. I've wanted to bring dates here but ended up going kibitz room which sucks but I only go because it's open around 8pm.. also it's way too loud inside to talk to anyone you bring like maybe you could put some high top bars with stools out the front? But I always recommend this place to anyone visiting Fairfax I love the lighting read more
