This staple is known by most ppl for LA. It's a very small bar/club, with a doorman. Bartenders are cool with great pours. Place gets packed out. There is tables and chairs among the walls. A good place to listen to a good DJ and just vibe. I was never attracted to this place but it has steadily grown on me. My friends love it. read more

Believe the bad reviews. Either the bartender(s) or the manager(s) are running scams. Went there for a couple hours last month, ran up a tab for under $50 and paid with credit card + tip (texted myself the receipt). When I checked my CC statement for the month I found another charge from The Dime the same night for almost $200 (and no receipt texted, bc it was straight-up fraud). Crazy reading other reviews and seeing this fraud has been going on for YEARS. read more

I've been coming to the Dime more recently and it's never been bad, but when I went most recently, you can tell they put a lot of effort into revamping and it's definitely well worth it. They now have food and the wings are good! I should've asked for more sauce on my wings, only because I'm super saucy with food lol, but they had a great flavor and were fresh and hot. The vibe is nice, the music is always tailored to the crowd they have. The workers are so nice, they truly made my experience great! Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been in awhile or if you have never been! I'm not currently drinking but they did have a wide variety of drinks. The street parking around it isn't bad at all, I don't think I ever struggled finding parking. The bathrooms have never been nasty. It's not a large venue, but it's great to come to with some friends for some good music and great bites. Dj Noodlez is fire, from the r&b vibes to hip hop and pop, I have a great time everytime and I dance the night away lol. The improvements will just have me coming more often! read more

I came in on St Patrick's day and was pleased with the holiday menu created by the bartender Noah. I was pleasantly surprised by how well balanced the strawberry Negroni was. The fried chicken sandwich on the menu was also exactly what I needed. This spot has a great intimate vibe, and loved the live music. Definitely will have to come back in sometime for the nightlife! read more

I'll put it to you like this, on the night Black Panther came out in theatres the late great Chadwick Bozeman spent the evening with friends at the dime. Now think about that, he could've been anywhere in the world but he was at the dime. My point is this is the kind of place that the biggest celebrities in the world can come and feel like just part of the crowd. The Dime is by far one of my favorite dive bars in all of LA. They keep a good rotation of djs and they all bring their own flavor. I'm a big 90's hip hop head and they're always playing dope stuff that I grew up on. Bartenders are always a vibe and pours are legit. I used to frequent the Tuesday comedy night when Adam and Nicky hosted and I can't count the amount of good local comics and famous comics I've seen for free here. Now that I'm older I don't go on the weekends as much because it gets stupid packed but if that's your things go for it. For the guys this is one of the best places to meet women because no one is pretentious here, just enjoying life and vibing. With Fairfax constantly changing by the day it's great to still have a local staple that hasn't lost its magic. read more

The Goods:The flowers go to the DJ. He had the dance floor shaking and for my best friendnwho came from out of town, it was definitely a wave. The bartender was extremely cute sns nice, the crowd seemed to be younger mixed with a sprinkle of over 40s heads. The space was intimate, so even with a small crowd only a few ppl can make it pop off. Met a cast member from the HBO show "Insecure" in the building so that made it well worth it. Ironically the bathroom was very clean for a regular place. The Bad: Obviously on a Monday I didn't expect the crowd to be hard-core deep but management obviously believed that VIP was gonna sit at EVERY table, so it looked very embarrassing when the person who could possibly want the VIP status stayed at the bar and opted to be just like the regular folks. One bathroom is a turn off..especially if it'd a packed night . This place looks like it could benefit from Sugnature Wings or some special food option but it may be still starting read more

This review is overdue. The Dime has a special place in my heart. I've had many fun crazy nights here pre -pandemic that will leave great memories in my head forever. The place is small, intimate, no clue if there's food but the MUSIC is the whole vibe. Mostly centered around 90s hip hop and R&B which I loveeee. Small bar with big vibes. The Dime is a good time, and one of the few bars that's actually jumping on a Monday night. Because it's literally as big as a dime, there's not much seating, and it may feel a little cramped on a busy night. That being said, the DJs are skilled, and the drinks are reasonably priced. I recommend coming early because this place gets packed after 12. 9-1130 is my favorite to just talk at your booth and mingle a bit. It's one of my favorites in LA, the DJs always on point, and the crowd is stylish - full of black folk dancing and vibing. read more

Went to The Dime for comedy night and to catch the happy hour on Tuesday. The comedy was fun and the drinks were good. The bar is somewhat small but it feels intimate and it's a decent late night spot. But when it came time to pay at the end of the night the bartender handed me the touchpad to add a tip and I saw that my bill was almost $150 for 4 drinks and a burger w fries. After I asked the bartender for an itemized receipt he just so happened to mention that my bill was considered a large tab (I guess anything over $100 is a large tab) and that 20% gratuity was already added. I also noticed that everytime I ordered a whiskey sour and asked for it "up" there's a $2 or $3 charge to pour it into a stem glass for each drink. I'm not opposed to the idea of these policies but it's a little deceptive to just happen to not mention that your going to automatically add a 20% gratuity and then put a tip screen in front of me. I don't normally write a review but I'm not a fan of deception or letting other people fall into it. read more

Location is perfect bc so many residents can walk home and not drive. I will agree with everyone on the music being really good especially bc that rnb contemporary funk is my vibe and the crowd were incredible- very sophisticated. I've only been twice in 2.5yrs and I live right there. And I'm someone that goes out almost every day of the week. Main thing that sucks is it doesn't open until 10pm.. it's a residential area so it's a better spot for pre drinks or whatever while we're waiting for the group. I've wanted to bring dates here but ended up going kibitz room which sucks but I only go because it's open around 8pm.. also it's way too loud inside to talk to anyone you bring like maybe you could put some high top bars with stools out the front? But I always recommend this place to anyone visiting Fairfax I love the lighting read more

A great hang I gotta admit. A nice intimate space with a good amount of seating along the walls, but a nice floor for chatting and dancing if you like. My friend said, "this is a bar for the grown and sexy" and I gotta say, I concur. Came on a Thursday around 10:30 and it was adequately populated, but now at 11:00 it is officially bumping up in here. So glad we fell into this place. Hope it's like this the during the rest of the week. But if not, I know I'll always have Thursday nights. read more

This is a cute bar in Melrose. The room is dark and if you're not there early then you will enjoy the little standing room that they have. There are about 7-8 tables in the entire establishment. The music was decent. read more

Sat at the bar for about 10-15 minutes the bartender lady was just standing there on her phone didn't walk up ask me if I wanted a drink or not . I had to wave at her to get her attention When she came I ordered a whiskey sour she didn't ask me which liquor i wanted Or anything when she made it she didn't make it correctly she just poured it in the cup didn't shake it or mix it it was just all juice and very sweet .so I asked the other bartender it was a guy I don't his name I told him about the lady and her attitude and bad customer service and the drink he made me another one and it was made correctly. read more

Warm lighting, sexy shadows, and even a tiny bar tucked in back for busy nights. I loved the whole atmosphere. Up front, the full bar is its own vibe--neighborhood-bar energy but with cocktails that taste elevated. I had a Moscow Mule and a Cucumber Gimlet, and both were excellent. The fact that they only use fresh, organic fruit and juice really comes through. Crisp, bright, clean flavors. My bartender was super chill and spot-on with recommendations, which I always appreciate--I love when I can lean on someone's expertise and they absolutely nail it. Even the person checking me in for the performance was great--friendly, helpful, happy I was excited to support local artists. The whole staff just made the night feel easy. I genuinely hope I have another friend perform here, but honestly I'd come back regardless. I love high-end venues as much as anyone, but there is something so special about places like this--spaces with a little wear, a little history, a lot of soul, and a strong commitment to the artists who pass through. This is the kind of spot that keeps the LA creative scene alive.

The bartender asked a regular if he'd left his helmet, and when he showed it to him, the regular quipped, "My head is bigger." The helmet looked like a kid's size, and the guy did have a small head. It was a funny interaction in a room full of characters, like something out of "A Confederacy of Dunces." The bouncer checking IDs outside, sporting a Santa hat, noticed my wife's upcoming birthday and wished her a happy birthday. It was a really nice touch!
