    Italian Sausage Pizza
    Ed Y.

I made my return to OneSpeed and had a better experience this time. Last time, I skipped the pizza and just went with the pasta, which is not exactly the strength of this restaurant. This time around, I just went with the pizza. I was able to get seated right away when I dropped by on an early Sunday evening around 5p or so. Our server was very kind and professional. Though, it felt like it took a while for our pizza to get to us, I didn't mind the wait. I'm sure if I would've ordered an appetizer, it would've hit the table sooner. - Italian Sausage Pizza (Tomato Sauce, Fresh Mozzarella, Ricotta, Red Onions, Pepperoncini, Italian Oregano): This one was the better of the two pizzas. The pepperoncini gave this a nice zing to balance the saltiness of the sausage. pretty good pizza. - Pepperoni Pizza (Sautéed Mushrooms, Three Cheeses, Tomato Sauce, Garlic Oil): a pretty good pepperoni. not much else to say. I guess I didn't really taste the garlic oil, and there was a bit of an unpleasant grease puddle at the bottom of the pizza pan from the pepperoni. in general, the pizzas were good but not great. The crust was a little crunchier/hard than I would've liked. I prefer the crust on Obo's pizza down the road. I heard they're closing down this location when the lease is up around January 2027; though, I believe they plan on reopening elsewhere.

A reliable and delicious favorite, One Speed always delivers a high quality food experience. This place is always busy, loud, bright, and fun. We enjoyed a Big Italian Salad (lots of large chicken chunks) and the pepperoni pizza (without ricotta) and some of their high quality house red wine. Split the pizza and the salad, which was plenty of food for two guys. Service was fast, after a 15 minute wait for a table. I'm always astonished at how delicious the food here is...and always prepared with a variety of fresh, local, ingredients and flavors.

Rick Mahan, Chef and Owner of Sacramento's renowned Waterboy Restaurant fame, has created another culinary hot spot in the charming east Sacramento neighborhood. And the food and fun environment are show stoppers. OneSpeed has become the darling of Sacramento diners. Why not? Famed chef known for seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients always resulting in fresh, clean, and quality gourmet food. Everyone wants some of that. I know I do. When I am meeting friends in Sac Town, this is always numero uno choice. For them and for me. I will show up at OneSpeed every chance I get. While we usually snag a table... the bar is really nice too. A half circle tucked away in the back of the restaurant fits perfectly in the cozy space. It fills up fast. People are enjoying their libations and it is always lively. The seating in the large, one room restaurant is just as "happening". One Speed is typically filled to capacity by 6 p.m., so get there early or plan on a wait. This is a diverse group of diners. Families, friends, couples... the whole gamut. They are all here for one reason... exceptional food, great wine and beer, and elevated customer service at a pretty appreciated reasonable price given the food quality. Yes, I might classify OneSpeed as trendy and hipster but in a very good "casual" way. Great people watching... discretely...too! If you don't live in the neighborhood, you best plan on a little walk on certain nights because there are only a few parking spots in the back of the restaurant. Otherwise street or neighborhood parking is where you end up. Oh... of course bike parking! Brick oven pizza (known as the best in town), pasta, salads, soups, nightly specials, desserts... all absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. You simply cannot go wrong at this jewel of a neighborhood eatery. Ever! Outside front patio is nice... weather permitting. I must have a boatload of photos from all my visits! Great job, Rick!

Came here for the first time. We ordered the pepperoni pizza with housemaid sausage and their fries. Everything was amazing! Best pizza so far!

Came by on Tuesday night around 6pm and it was a full house! There was a wait time and we were told about 30 minutes for a party of 3. We ordered the herb fries and three pizzas: Rick's, BBQ chicken and pepperoni mushroom. Everything tasted good and definitely enough to take home some leftovers. The olives on Rick's pizza were a really strong taste I'm not used to so that wasn't a favorite for me but we were told it's a popular one. You can definitely tell things are made to order and fresh with quality ingredients. I didn't like that the tables were so close to each other and we were close to other parties dining, but I understand they're trying to maximize their space. Not much parking here since it's mostly street parking but we parked in a nearby residential area.

TLDR: get the Big Italian salad, the pepperoni pizza, and a side of ranch for a sublime dinner experience! They also have a killer burger if that's more your...speed :) We love OneSpeed but don't visit super often, so it was a natural pick for our Valentines Day dinner! We arrived at 6:30pm and were totally ready to wait for a table as they don't do reservations, but we were greeted warmly and seated right away at a table where we could watch the action in the kitchen (one of our favorite things to do at a restaurant). No matter what else we are ordering, we ALWAYS have to get a Big Italian salad. I have had actual dreams about this salad. It's just the best salad, and this time was no different. I also had the boquerones appetizer which was different and delicious. We did a half and half pizza with 2 pizzas that were new to us: the pepperoni and the Italian sausage. Side of ranch is non-negotiable, their ranch is unique and delicious and makes everything better! Both were absolutely terrific but the pepperoni was the real standout for us. It hit all the right notes and was perfection. We left with leftovers for the next day and full happy stomachs. We'll be back soon to try the Garden pizza on our server's recommendation!

Always wanted to try this place and finally got the chance. Stopped by about an hour before closing and were seated right away. Started with the Italian salad - wish they chopped the lettuce slightly smaller since I had a couple of bites that were just lettuce without any of the other delicious ingredients. Overall, it was delicious and loved the grilled chicken, chunks of cheese, salami, and olives. The balance is a little off though with the lettuce :/ Ordered 1/2 Rick's and half New Jersey tomato pie- skip the Rick's unless you're a huge fan of potato soup and definitely get the New Jersey tomato pie! The crust on both pizzas was incredible! Thin, crunchy, tasty- I would buy these as bread sticks if they were offered We also got the meat calzone. Great presentation- comes out puffy and they cut it for you table side. Nice dish for a date night :) the calzone was packed with ingredients and was also one of our favorites. We're definitely planning to go back. The pizza was excellent

Amazing place and amazing food. We got the mushroom pizza and switched out the mushroom type to the long ones because they are placed after in season overall it was the best thing we've had, especially with the garlic oil on the pizza. We also ordered the salad, beet potato, and smoked trout salad. So many different flavors, but it came together so well. While this is a prettiest simple interior restaurant, it feels Homie with the open kitchen view and the multiple windows. This was our first time and we hope to come back again.

Dined at One Speed for the first time for my mom's birthday. Had heard goods things from several people, so I had this place on my list for a while. And was glad to have been able to finally make it in an check itnout for myself. We arrived at 1pm on a Saturday and we're quickly seated. The established had an a variety of people dining in at the time, and we were sat a a table right near the large windows, facing the the outside and patio area. We looked over the menus for a little bit, and we're able to sample a wine and a beer that was on the menu before actually ordering. Once that moment arrived we ordered the following: Appetizers: Marinated Olives Spinach Salad Main courses: Gnocchi BBQ Chicken Pizza (x2) Calzone Dessert: Old fashioned soda float Sticky Toffee Pudding Chocolate mousse Affogato Drinks: White wine (before meals) Espresso (with dessert) One of the things I liked about One Speed is the overall look and feel of the restaurant. One Speed has an open kitchen area, when you can see the cooks happily at work. And where you can also see a large brick oven, for off of the fresh pizzas and Calzone type meals. The calzone came fresh out of the fire, and to our table an a nice wooden cutting board. Where our waiter sliced it up right in front of us; wait a nice touch! The calzone was HUGE and full of Meats and cheese, and easily something that would need to have boxed up and have some left overs for. The Gnocchi was beautifully plated and was just as delicious. The BBQ Chicken Pizza was nice and nice, with a crust that had the perfect crispy crunch when bitten into. And was adorned with nice chunks of grilled chicken breast, cilantro and a light amount of BBQ sauce. The desserts were great as well. I personally ordered the Affogato which I think is always a great cap on a great meal. Espresso and vanilla gelato; you can't go wrong with that. The Sticky Toffee Pudding my girlfriend ordered to share, and that was so delicious as well. I was pleasantly surprised, but not at the same time. Because the variety of amazingly looking foods & desserts, is what made me want to check out One Speed in the first place. Overall: One Speed definitely lived up to the talk. The food and service were great, and I will definitely be back again with friends and family.

We revisited after many years. We live so close and don't go out as much so it's been awhile. Now we know we need to keep coming back. It was a little warm inside so next time may enjoy the patio next time. The service was great and they were very attentive. We ordered a salad and pizza. Then some drinks and dessert. I forgot how good the pizza was!!! I am already waiting for when we go back. The wine was perfect for what I ordered and I really enjoyed it. Thanks One Speed!

Very solid pizza spot. The crust is thick and crispy, just how I like it. And they don't scimp out on the toppings, our pizza was loaded. Just fyi, If you ask for ranch, it's an extra 1$. There is a lot of seating inside, as well as a patio outside. I've passed on the weekends and it's packed with people. I think next time I'd definitely do a takeout order.

With that context, we don't take Italian food lightly. That's exactly why Ippolito's Trattoria stands out. Nick, the owner, is there seven days a week. Whether he's running the kitchen like a true master or walking the dining room checking in with guests, his presence is constant. His wife is often by his side, and together they've built something that feels less like a restaurant and more like a family. The staff reflects that--welcoming, attentive, and genuinely warm. Now, the food. The chicken parmigiana is massive--easily two meals--and executed perfectly. The chicken is tender, well-seasoned, and balanced. We usually start with calamari or a shared salad, both consistently excellent. I'm especially particular about carbonara, and this is the only place in Sacramento that truly gets it right. No shortcuts. No cream. No smoked bacon. They respect the tradition--using proper ingredients like guanciale or pancetta and incorporating the egg the way it's meant to be. It's easily the best carbonara I've had in years. The arancini are another highlight. If you've ever made them at home, you know the effort involved--this is the real deal. Crispy outside, rich and flavorful inside, and absolutely authentic. The bread is baked fresh daily by Nick, and it shows. The pasta is artisan-quality, also made fresh, and sourced from a trusted local partner. Every detail reflects care and intention. Dessert is not an afterthought here. The tiramisu--made in-house--is flawless. And the cannoli? Outstanding. The shells have the perfect crunch, and the fillings are rich without being overpowering. Even the pizzelle cookies are done right. It's no surprise they've earned recognition, including: Best Italian Restaurant in Sacramento Best Restaurant Overall in Sacramento Beyond the food, Nick is active in the community and gives back, which only adds to the experience. We've enjoyed this place so much that we've chosen them to cater my 60th birthday for 20 very discerning Italian family members--many of whom we've already brought here, all with the same glowing reactions. If there's any criticism to address, it's usually from people saying the food isn't salty or herb-heavy enough. That misses the point. This is balanced, authentic cooking--where ingredients shine without being masked. I've been to Papa Gianni's in Cameron Park dozens of times over the years, and it's a great spot. But when it comes to the Sacramento region, Ippolito's Trattoria is my go-to, without question.

Ambience: very comfortable, although very loud inside the dining room-background music along with many patrons conversing. But our wait staff was great. Friendly and engaging - but not over bearing. In fact, i gave this place an extra star just for the wait staff. Other than that, i would rate their entrees...as decent, but there is room for improvement to help raise the bar. Hence 3.5 stars overall Appetizers: 1) fried raviolis - not bad, filled with spinach and ricotta and arrived with marinara dipping sauce 2) fried calamari- too much coating which over powered the delicacy of the squid. Plus, it arrived cold. It came with two dipping sauces which helped. Entrees: 1) Two pies: Sicilian and soppresaata & hot honey: both pies were decent, arrived straight from the oven 2) farmers market salad: very fresh greens, tender pieces of chicken but was missing the fresh corn. 3) spaghetti w/meatballs: nice entree with a mild sauce, but meatballs tasted more filler than actual meat. And the garlic bread was cold 4) rigatoni aka vodka: very nice entree and our diner ordered it with gluten free pasta 5) spaghetti parmesano: entree looked great when it arrived- mild sauce w/al dente noodles but the chicken was over cooked and even dry with a layer of mozzarella that didn't help. And again arrived with cold garlic bread. Would i return? in a few years. but the service was good which made our evening. However i wish all the pasta entrees and calamari appetizer were as good as their pies. Again, little details with their appetizers, pasta, and salad dishes would have made our dining experience more enjoyable.

You'll definitely enjoy the elegant decor and picturesque dining room. As the name suggests, Il Fornaio is an Italian restaurant that serves pasta dishes, salads, soups, and other Italian fare. The food is well presented and and the quality is certainly there. It didn't disappoint, but I personally wasn't blown away by it either. It's just very solid you get what you pay for food. Usually that means you buy cheap food and you get cheap tasting stuff, but here you pay a good amount and you get pretty good food. We came on a pretty busy evening and service took a little longer than I expect that it typically would. But overall it wasn't bad... just very busy. I do think that Il Fornaio does get pretty busy regularly because it is a popular restaurant in Sacramento. Just keep that in mind on busy nights like weekends and special dates.

I wasn't expecting good Italian food in Sacramento, so when a colleague suggested this place for…read moredinner, I agreed. Im also not much an Italian food fan really. Crazy I say this as I was in a serious relationship once with an Italian lol. I know I sound like a miserable wretched human being, but its quite ubiquitous and a lot of it is not too hard to make. But I do like a good pizza and there are Italian dishes I like (ones I cannot make like Sardinian wild boar or squid ink pasta). First, this dining room is gorgeous, the bar space is really nice. Saw a handsome gent in a nice suit sitting at the bar, which was a nice accessory to an already elegant and dare I say sexy bar? I had a drink here and then our party moved to a table when everyone arrived. My colleague did us the favor and ordered some antipasti dishes for us and made good choices. The carpaccio was great (and I loved the grana padano cheese - one that I can have) and also enjoyed the tartara di tonno - which is seared ahi tuna. Both with copious amounts of arugula (my favorite). Great choices as I love raw anything that's well made. Since it was Tuesday, one of my colleagues ordered the pasta trio which is a special for Tuesdays. No idea if it was any good, but colleague cleaned the plate. My other colleague ordered the risotto (which looked great and I love risotto and can make it myself), large portion size and she had a good portion leftover for another meal. I had the branzino in crosta. The portion size for my dish was ridiculous. Fish was decent, but I have had better (in Italy fresh caught). Rooted veggies were probably my favorite (I'm a rabbit and love veggies) and the grilled polenta was so-so. My colleagues ordered panna cotta al limone and it was excellent. I am used to a denser consistency panna cotta and this one was lighter one but well made. I love limoncello or anything with lemons, so this was just lovely. There is only one kind of tiramisu (more pudding style) I like which is made by North Italia and the one here likely was the traditional tiramisu so I declined to get dessert. Overall, a very good choice for a business dinner. Food was good. I deducted one star because I am not much into chain restaurants and prefer to support mom and pop type places. I deducted another star because the service was so SLOW and while we ordered some sparkling for the table, some of us did not get still water and I recall not having much water to drink and its summer. Also, I think the New Yorker in me just doesnt have much patience, but it does seem the cadence here was a different speed I am used to. I'd definitely return to have a few cocktails at the bar, and come back for their HH specials too. This location is in a beautiful setting and I'd come back just to sit at the bar and quietly ogle which cutie might show up...
