More of a 4.5 rating! As far as quick grabs and go lunch places go, ONGI is a great option. I've been here twice now in one week, and I'll definitely keep coming back. They have signature bowls and build your own. I built my own bowl with the grilled shrimp and the kimchi aioli and kimchi add on. The quality of the ingredients is really good and all the flavors are delicious. If I'm being nit picky, the ambiance isn't anything to write home about and it's a bit crowded/awkward waiting for a bowl since it feels like your in everyone's way. It is a bit on the pricier side as well as far as bowls go, but neither of these factors will prevent me from coming back. Overall this is a great lunch addition to the neighborhood! read more

Simply put it's a chipotle style fast casual with Korean flavors. I got the bbq pork with kimchi bowl and it was pretty tasty. Only comment is the pork was a little overly sweet and put more kimchi in it if it's in the name of the dish. I ordered online and when I went to pick it up, it wasn't there. i've said this before and i'll say it again, i'm a KOREAN korean. meaning, i can only eat so many salads, bowls, or sandwiches before i start going crazy. if it were up to me i'd be ordering stew after stew for lunch everyday but unfortunately i have coworkers to consider. i've had all the usuals, sweetgreen, chopt, cava, naya, springbone, etc. so when looking at my lunch options for the day, i want find something that is easy to grab-and-go and satisfys my korean tastebuds, while also still being healthy and economical. enter ONGI. i was pleasantly surprised at how good the bowl is. now, is it super authentic? no BUT it scratches my asian tastebuds' itch. i'd say this ONGI is a cross between korean and japanese, leaning a little bit more korean. the bowls are big and decently priced - you have a choice between a medium or large and i find that the medium is the perfect size - and they have some good apps/sides as an option. of the apps/sides, the dumplings are pretty good. they have a thin skin (like me lol) and the flavors are good. i've also gotten the sweet and spicy chicken wings and found them to be a bit too sweet for me. i usually opt for a custom medium bowl with white rice, half pork and half beef, and the korean bbq sauce. def recommend the additional poached egg and kimchi topping. ordering online and picking up is a breeze and the location is close to both bryant park and herald square. the spot itself is big and bright with some seating in the front but def more of a grab and go lunch spot. the limited interactions i've had w staff have also been pleasant. definitely a great lunch option! read more

Absolutely loved the bowl here! I got the bulgogi beef custom bowl with brown rice and several veggies. The toppings are extremely delicious and were generous in the amount. I chose the spicy gochujang sauce, and that blended in perfectly. The interior is super clean and has lots of tables. Each table had a small notebook to scribble random things, which I thought was super cute. The ordering is also convenient bc when you walk in, you can just fill out a piece of paper and give it to the staff. There were also water fountains with cucumber water. Portion was so large that I ate it over two sittings. Indoor dining is an option with casual chairs and benches meant for short visits. Most opt for takeout. There's a section with utensils, bags, covers, and really tasty and free infused water. The bowls are biodegradable. Staff are very friendly. Expect 10 minutes or less for your order to come out. They have you mark down all of the toppings, proteins, sauces, and base that you want beforehand and then you just hand your filled out card to the cashier. I thought that this was a great idea. This way, the line is never backlogged by people standing there pondering about what ingredients they want to add as they go down the line. This system is great for busy workers looking to grab lunch quickly on their break! I think we waited around 5 minutes for our food which wasn't bad at all. The food was good! I had the salmon, bulgogi, and the soy garlic chicken. I liked the salmon and bulgogi the best, the chicken was just okay and I'd probably want to try a different 3rd protein next time. Their white rice is sushi seasoned, so it was really tasty. I tried the black sesame aioli as my sauce and thought that it was pretty tasty as well. Only knock would be the price. It was 17 dollars for three proteins and I was still hungry after devouring my bowl! So if you are looking to be filled up during your lunch break, I probably would go somewhere else as the portion size isn't very big. You could probably spend less and be full at a different place. I placed the order ahead of time and received a text about an hour later that my order was ready. When I arrived at the restaurant, I was told they didn't even start preparing my order.
