This Hawaiian BBQ spot is one of two I visited. This one is in Westfield Mall in Culver City. I didn't know what to expect since Hawaiian bbq was not on my radar. I asked the lady behind the counter and she recommended the bbq chicken platter. This wasn't bbq chicken the way I think of bbq chicken, it reminded me more of hibachi chicken, but I'll tell you this....it was some damn good chicken! Impressed by the service! I always come to the mall and I've ate here before and let me just say the quality of food is great to every single time. I just went again this past weekend and I had wonderful service from the cashier Linda. Brought my mom with me and she surprised my mom on how fluent her Spanish was and how quickly she was able to help figure out what my mom wanted on her plate. Ono's is practically everywhere nowadays and you can't go more than 5 miles without one. Located in the food court of Fox Hills mall, Ono's is usually not very crowded and for good reason: it's mediocre and takes a while to get your food. I got an order of the chicken katsu which comes with 2 scoops of rice, a side of macaroni salad and it is placed on top of steamed vegetables. While the katsu was nicely breaded and crispy, it was primarily flour that I was biting into. The chicken was very thin. Not to mention, the chicken wasn't juicy at all. It was pretty dry...good thing they provide a side of Katsu sauce for you to dip your meat into. The steamed veggies on the bottom are all soggy too.
