Came here 5/9/2026 & had a wonderful dining experience! Everyone on the staff was so attentive and greeted you when you walked in. They asked if you had any questions or needed help and were so friendly. The food was also better than ever, so kudos to the cooks for doing a fantastic job. I had the clam chowder soup, fries, & the Swai fish plate with rice, Cajun style. Everything was cooked perfectly! I regularly order the Coastal Power Chicken Bowl, advertised as having 62g of protein and pictured with a generous amount of chicken. After getting yet another tiny serving, I decided to pay an extra $3 for additional chicken. They gave me a cup on the side containing FOUR kids bite-sized pieces of chicken. People joke about Chipotle skimping on portions, but this California Fish Grill takes it to another level. I honestly thought it had to be a mistake, so I went back inside to ask. The employee told me it wasn't a mistake; "this shouldn't be right but that's how they sell it". He offered to make me another cup but his coworker told him to make me wait for more chicken. It doesn't take that long to get another four pieces of chicken ready so I left. All their protein bowls are like this, I'm done supporting this scam. read more

I tried the Cajun shrimp tacos and they were pretty good. The sides (zucchini and beans) were just okay. My friend got the swai fish tacos with kale slaw and brussel sprouts that were good. Fried string beans wouldve been good but my 15 minute travel time caused the condensation to make everything soggy and very unappetizing. The ranch was very basic too. I've had the grilled fish many times, today I wanted to try the fish and chips. Bad decision on my part, bad execution on CFG. I went at lunch time so it was really crowded. I went to Trader Joe's to pass the time and still had to wait a little for my order to be ready. Any day is a good day for some CFG! I don't have to think twice about this, I know CFG provides some great seafood and sides. I'm a fanatic when it comes to the crispy tempura battered fish, and the delicious kale slaw. I usually order online, but this was a drive by decision. Once I arrived at CFG, I ordered from the kiosk, thanks to the assistance of a helpful restaurant employee. The restaurant's atmosphere is lively and energetic. I want to start by saying I am a huge lover of CFG and dine at one of their locations at least once a week. Due to that, it's not easy for me to take a star off but this time it really came down to the dish I ordered. After downloading their new app, I decided to try one of the new Protein Bowls and they only had one option that was part of the deal if you got the app and it was the Everything Protein Bowl. It was described as Cajun shrimp, salmon, swai, and grilled chicken over white rice with beans, diced tomato, chili mix, and chopped parsley, served with a side of roasted tomatillo salsa. Unfortunately, it didn't look anything like the image. It ended up being a massive bowl of rice with a few pieces of fish and chicken on top, which was pretty disappointing. I probably should have said something, but since I visit so often, I know I just won't order it again and will stick to my usual plate. On a positive note, parking is super easy since it's located at the Westfield Culver City mall, so it took no time at all to park. This Culver City location has a good sized parking lot, plus is right next to Trader Joe's, Starbucks, and the Westfield Culver City Mall so you can take care of a few errands at once. The staff at this location are so nice! My friend and I ordered ahead for pickup, walked in to find our order hot & ready to go. Very well organized store. I tried their Grilled Rockfish Rice Plate today with their Garlic Butter Sauce and swooned over it. Honestly, the garlic butter sauce has been in my brain since last week when I tried it for the first time. I had to get back to a location to drench my throat again with that goodness. Probably the healthiest casual dining anywhere in Southern California. Eaten here twice. Service is always uniformly excellent, but ordering can sometimes take a little bit of doing. First time in and it did not disappoint. When you enter, you can order at the counter with an employee or at a kiosk. We ordered at the kiosk and thought it was user friendly. My husband and I both ordered the everything protein bowl with added avocado and Parmesan garlic bread. The bowls came with a side of salsa and green salsa verde and we added both on our bowls. The Parmesan garlic bread came with a small side of butter to dip in. You are able to see the chef grilling the protein too. You enter a phone number when ordering on the kiosk and you receive a text when your order is ready for pick up at check counter. We love California Fish Grill and have eaten at several of their locations. Their fish tacos, shrimp tacos, grilled salmon, and fish and chips are all very fresh and tasty. We particularly like their kale slaw. Last Friday we were in the mood for the kale slaw and ordered 3 sides through Ubereats. When we got home and began to eat them we discovered they had no dressing on them. The dressing is the best part of the salad and it didn't occur for us to open them up to check. It seems like you'd almost have to try to neglect to put dressing after filling with the kale and red cabbage. My friend had been raving about trying California Fish Grill. I just gotta say, this was a super yummy experience. The price is pretty high up there but it's a get what you pay for type of vibe. I got the salmon plate and I highly recommend upgrading to the brussels sprouts because they were absolutely amazing. The breaded shrimp was incredible as well. Beer was pretty cheap so you can have a full meal and drink here. Portions are a good size. The employees are very nice and friendly and they check up on you. The only thing is you can somewhat feel pressured when they offer to help you order your meal on the tap screen ordering menu. Overall, check this place out for some great food! read more

### 2024 review 32/100 ### I really try to like this location since it's conveniently close by... but each visit always have some issue related to staff, cold food, missing items, etc. Today we thought we'd come by to give it one more chance but it's ridiculous when they take our phone number to "text you" when order is ready. However the text arrives a good hour AFTER order is placed. And if we didn't happen to walk in to get napkins to wipe down the dirty tables - we wouldn't have heard them call our our phone numbers and name of dishes ordered. The guy who took our order asked for our cell number so they can "text us when order is ready for pick up" The first server we spoke to insisted they "do not call out any phone number" and only text. She then said she'll go ask for the manager and went inside the kitchen for 3 mins when the manager was outside at the drinks dispenser. The manager came but insisted the only call out the "3 digits" after area code. Huh. She then without me asking, walked away saying she'll be back. Another guy (the manager of the manager?) showed up and insisted they call out a partial number (area code and first 3 digits) if and only if the number we gave them is wrong and we don't reply. Ugh. We interacted with 4 employees and got 4 different versions of how they let you know when your order is ready to pick up at the counter. What a mess. They can't even bother taking down the customers "name" for an order. We heard them call out the first 7 digits of our personal cell number. AND the text arrives over an hour AFTER our order is submitted. After all that debacle, not even an apology for wasting our time and not doing their job properly to get a simple food order picked up. The food is decent but overpriced $6 for ONE single small tortilla taco... definitely not worth the stress and waste of our time to ever go back. PS: the patio outside is not only severely neglected, dirty and dusty, ALL the heaters do NOT work. Just for show. read more
