I went to Sizzler all the time growing up in the 80's and 90's in the Bay Area. I knew they were barely clinging on and for the last year I've wanted to go. Was it as gross as I remember? Would nasty smells come out of me after eating it? I just had to find out - so for Father's Day I dragged the kids to Sizzler and it was all I wanted and more. Sizzler is one of those places that is so bad that it's good. I got the all you can eat salad bar and it was very mediocre and that's exactly how it should be. You question how long items have been out. Like can I really trust this clam chowder? The answer is always - yes As silly as this review is - the salad part of the salad bar was very fresh and well maintained. The staff here are all awesome by the way. The Texas toast still tastes like the 80's and I feel blessed that the soft serve machine was working during this visit The people watching is 5 stars as well. Came by the Culver City Sizzler to treat myself to a steak lunch since I work around the area pretty often, and honestly this location is always solid. I ordered the ribeye medium rare with fries, a drink, and added the unlimited salad bar. The salad bar here is actually really good, especially if you like building your own Caesar salad like I do. They've got a lot of toppings and everything tasted fresh. I was a little disappointed they didn't have the broccoli cheddar soup that day, but the clam chowder made up for it because it was actually pretty good. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because my first steak came out way overcooked and looked a little rough compared to how it normally is. But to be fair, the staff handled it really well with no attitude or hassle at all. They remade the steak, brought me fresh fries, and the second steak came out perfect. The only funny part is that while waiting for the remake, I went back for another salad bar plate and ended up getting fuller than expected. First time I've ever actually taken steak home from a steak place. Overall though, this location is always a good experience. We checked this place out recently for dinner and it was ok. My wife and I can't remember ever going to a Sizzler and this one was within walking distance to our hotel. My daughter had the kid's chicken tender meal. My wife ordered the unlimited salad bar and I had the 8 oz tri-tip steak with garlic mashed potatoes. My steak was ok, but I had to cut off quite a bit of fat. My wife said the salad bar was ok, but she couldn't find a lot of options. Not sure if it's the time of day but sometimes things can be off a bit, and today they were definitely off. The chicken was a bit on the cold side and steak not well done, but I still helped my guest polish it off anyways. While not pictured, Maribella did her best to salvage the experience, and for the most part succeeded with making constant rounds to refresh my salad bar plates, despite the steak and chicken being a little off. Brought me many memories of times gone... I used to come to Sizzler after flights when I used to work for an airline... it's an traditional type of restaurant, with very good affordable meals... I got a prime rib burger that to be honest, is one of the best I've tried... I know it's a people's restaurant that you tend to forget when you grow you taste to the next level, but still I love it !! my wife had the salad bar that it's one of the last survivors in town... Ana our server was beautifully helpful !! The only diminishing fact was the carpet in this venue, it looks extremely old and dirty, they might think about either installing a new one or change it to something more modern like tile floor... anyway I'm invited to come back some time and the price is very modest compared to the food.. read more

I don't remember how it started - just that a social media post was shared about Sizzler having its roots in Culver City - possibly also how so many restaurants (and businesses) are shutting down - but it resulted in a group of us having lunch here over the weekend. It's been so long since I stepped foot into a Sizzler that I can't even remember. But walking in, seeing the salad bar brought back memories. I'm getting ahead of myself though ... Parking was free and easy. At this location, the lot is under the freeway. Go and you'll see what I mean. Lots of space. When I left, the place was still packed, yet there were lots of spaces left. Maybe a bunch of guests just walked from the mall - but whatever the case, if it's packed, park at the mall and cross the street. Walk in, pay then find a seat. Something I found interesting is that you add the tip which is given to you in cash, to give to the server. Not sure I like this because I have to wonder how many people stiff the server. But just have have faith in humanity ... I'm trying. And service was great. I believe his name was Raul. He handled our party of 6 like a pro. It was busy and I mean busy. Tables were filled while people were waiting for the table kinda busy. All orders were correct and he made sure to take care of us with the cheese toast. I ordered the Ribeye along with Rice Pilaf. Added Sauteed Mushrooms and Grilled Onions. The only gripe I have is that if you look at the pics, I would have liked my onions to have been grilled more. Otherwise, all was great. Steak prepare as requested - Rare. And believe it or not, other than a few slice of cheese toast, I left stuffed. I did have more than a handful of refills of iced tea. I didn't even end up having dinner that night. I left fat and happy. Happy, not just because of the food but the experience. The reminder of simpler times, like my first experience with a salad bar. Nostalgic, Nostalgic, Nostalgic!! Sizzler makes you Sizzles... Our friends wanted to do a lunch at the first ever Sizzler and here we are in Culver City. Let me tell you, I have not been to a Sizzler for over 15 years! There are 2 locations near me and we don't even go! I opt in with a RIBEYE steak since I haven't had one in a while... YES, they have rib eye steaks! I did not have high expectations and expected to order medium rare and the steak comes back medium well like most American diners serving non steaks specialty restaurants. To my surprised, the steak did came out medium rare with charred marks on the outside, the way I like my steaks! The fat and meat ratio was not bad. Not overly fatty. For $28, I was content because usually spends $40 to $50 for the same quality elsewhere. The salad bar was fresh and clean, the clam chowder soup was also delicious. It had real clams inside and its rich in flavor Everything was so Nostalgic from the way you order your food, the salad bar, and to the yummy complimentary cheese toasts!! Our waiter, RAUL was such a fine, classy, helpful waiter. He was always cleaning up our plates, and checking in. The restaurant was bright and clean and I see the staffs constantly refilling and wiping down the salad bar section. Believe it or not, we were there for 4 hours and they never rushed us out. Parking is a bit misleading. If you enter from south side, they only have about 10 parking spots, go to the other side of the restaurant and there are plenty of parking spots under the freeway bridge. This is nostalgia. It was my Grandparents place to eat at and we spent many evenings at Sizzler after church. Not much has changed and I believe this restaurant deserves a do over that gathers the crowds to enjoy good food. We spent 150 for 5 adults. I got the peach lemonade, rib eye medium with baked potato and I added the soup and salad bar. Guy was our waiter and he was amazing. Lemonade is refreshing. I enjoyed the peach flavor. It hit the spot. My ribeye was tasty but the meat was chewy. It was prepared medium but I still had to chew like a cow. I will get the shrimp next time. The salad bar is extravagant. I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 types of lettuce and all the toppings from hard boiled eggs, beets, banana peppers, Craisins, etc. I will be back to enjoy the salad bar. The clam chowder was just okay. It wasn't terrible but I could take it or leave it. Potatoes were mushy and water logged. I truly believe if they can prepare better steak amd invest in higher or more expensive cuts of meat or get higher grade of the cuts they have, the steak will take off. They should really work to revamp that because Sizzler's should be known for their steak but it's definitely not there yet. Service is effective and efficient. Restaurant is clean and roomy. My brother & i come at least once a week to eat here. We are big steak lovers and we love coming here because it's so chill. Our server is usually the same person hahaha shoutout to Guy. He's alway so attentive. I think I was mostly wanting to eat here for the nostalgia factor, since this was the Sizzler we ate at all the time when I was a kid. They have definitely remodeled since then (last century). The menu was larger than I remember, a lot of kind of steak and seafood things that are not fancy. I ordered the "shrimp, shrimp, shrimp" which was two kinds of fried shrimp (small and large) and a skewer of grilled shrimp, and I added the salad bar for $9. The salad bar wasn't that exciting but everything I tasted was fresh. I don't think there are a lot of salad bar places anymore since Sweet Tomatoes closed, and it's nice to grab what I want on a salad. My shrimp were pretty good, but not like Red Lobster good! Service was fine. It does take a bit to have your food come out, but they were friendly and brought us more of the cheese toast, which was definitely my favorite thing. read more

A bunch of friends and I like to get together at this Sizzler every few weeks. We really enjoy the cheesy bread and the abundance of open seating available. The parking is really easy and there are always spaces. Here are some things that I find management can do much better about: The hostess that works on Wednesday afternoon/early evening could absolutely use some more training. She doesn't know then menu well, doesn't offer selections appropriately and seems to get easily frustrated. I had not been to Sizzler in YEARS. So much has changed, so when I asked questions she is relatively unhelpful. On one evening I ordered the steak, and it was delicious! It is actually one of my favorite steaks and I often crave it now! The kitchen staff honestly does such a great job. I am not sure if I will do the salad bar again though, as it is $20 for just the bar and often messy and/or out of options. I love the option of self seating, and we really appreciate that this venue is large enough to host bigger groups. We tend to need to largest table every time we visit and the service is often great. Again, I think the hostess does a huge disservice to customers who seek more assistance with selections, especially if someone is new to Sizzler. During my experience as a new-ish customer, I think it would have made me much more excited about my dining experience if the instructions were clear about getting your own drink, the tip system (you can add the tip when paying with your card and the hostess gives you cash for the server), menu selection options/recommendations, etc. A little enthusiasm would be the cherry on top--but I may be asking too much at this point, lol. Was not ready for what we walked in to. My kids have been begging me to try seafood... and we finally found ourselves at a hotel across the street from one on the night before a swim meet... so off we went! When's you walk in, you have to go to the register and order before you sit down. Now... we did... and as food came out, we each regretted our orders. Don't go for the seafood- go for the Buffett. 2 of my kids did the Buffett and those 2 were the only ones who ended up happy ;::laughs::: the best part? The staff? Ok, it's a Sizzler and I haven't been to one in years and for what it is, it's truly A-OK. The parking is split into two and you order first before getting a seat. You can choose from steaks and entrees or go for the salad bar. The salad bar includes salads, a few soup options, spaghetti and meatballs, friend chicken wings, corn dog bites, and hard shell tacos. Pretty basic but if that's what you are looking for, it's there for you. The food was all pretty good. Nothing to write home about but also nothing to hate on. Finish it off with some soft serve or banana pudding and you are set. The service was super friendly and I felt like I was visiting a friend's place and had great uncles and aunts helping out. This is by far the worst Sizzler we have ever been to. The food was so bad I sent it back and just asked for a refund, I never do that. Parking is easy in their lot. The place is not clean enough to my standards. The bathrooms were very clean. The salad bar was so boring. Other Sizzlers have a nice selection. This was not. We walked into order, you order right when you walk in. There is not a huge menu like other Sizzlers. I ordered a burger rare and I was very clear about rare. I was asked if I wanted fries or a baked potato. I thought those were my only choices, I ordered the baked potato with no sour cream. My husband ordered a steak rare and was shown side choices that I was never offered on a little card near where you stand at the counter. He ordered a baked potato. I had no idea they also had garlic mashed and a few others. I did not want to confuse so I let it go. Really bad way to market. We went in and found a booth which needed my napkin to clean it. It had already been their idea of clean. Not mine. A server came by took our receipt and asked if we wanted some garlic bread. It never came. Our food arrived and my burger was medium well. Gross. My baked potato was filled with sour cream. I tasted my burger and though I am not eating this. I sent it back to have it and the potato done right. My husbands steak was medium. He just ate it. He was not thrilled. My food came back and again the burger was overcooked. The baked potato had no softness to it. And where is that bread. Not coming, ever. I tried to eat this way over cooked burger and I was done. I sent it back and said just take it off the bill. No one came to say sorry, our server sort of disappeared off the planet. My husband was bummed because he knew I would not be having dinner at all. Oh well. I was so disappointed. I will never go back and again not one person came to say we messed up, sorry. Nothing. We threw a baby shower here and it was fabulous. For 25.00 we were able to reserve the cordened off back part and MGR Havvie and the team really provided excellent service. He accommodated our group and really worked with me. He did not treat us like criminals and all of us have nothing but respect. We ordered the salad bars and drinks for everyone, it was a huge ticket but I wanted to give my business to Sizzler. It was between them and Beppo or Olive Garden. When BRISA O. was giving us our plates and stuff we noticed we didn't have enough cups for our drinks. So we asked if we can have the others we ordered. A when we said that she "Oh that's why I repeated it twice ! " with attitude and mind you the manager was right next to her ! At least the manager was kind and gave us our cups. I hadn't been to a Sizzler in years, but every year they send me a birthday offer for $5 off an entree so I finally decided to use it this year. Javier, who I assume is the manager, was so nice and welcoming. He invited me to sit down inside the dining room while I waited for my take out order. It was opening time and more people were starting to come in. The place was very clean and organized. The salad bar along with the hot station, soup station, and dessert station looked good. It now costs $17. Besides Javier, one of the servers also kept me updated on my order. I was very impressed with the very friendly and outgoing service. We had our sister's retirement luncheon at this location for 60+ guest. The manager GG was absolutely amazing and available prior to the event and the day of the event. Out server Ana was incredible, she made sure that we had everything that we needed, she was a people person that greeted us will a smile. The food was fresh, hot, and well stocked. On March 29, 2025, I gave a Retirement Party for my sister. The manager Gigi Bauman was fantastic. She helped me set up everything. It was beautiful and my sister was very happy. Excellent salad bar!! Fresh and clean!! All sorts of pasta salads, fresh fruit, veggies. Well stocked. Our waiter, Guy, takes great care of us each time we visit!! He brings extra napkins, coffee refills, and our food arrives hot and accurate. My husband's grilled shrimp was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Our steaks were juicy and cooked to order. I had not been to a sizzler in years. We don't have one close to where I live, but last time I was traveling, we came across sizzler and decided to stop. Ordered the salad bar, and although we ate until we were full, the topping choices in the salad bar were a little lacking. For example, there was no broccoli or mushrooms. So the salad part of the salad bar was pretty average although it tasted OK for what it was. While we were up getting our food, a waitress brought a basket with two pieces of garlic bread to the table and it was very good and I kind of wished we had more of that. They also offered a taco bar and spaghetti and a little area with chicken wings and potato wedges as well soup and a couple of desserts. I pretty much tried a little bit of everything other than the spaghetti and soup, the taco was kind of odd though because I thought the meat tasted more like it went with the spaghetti than with the taco but again I wasn't expecting high-end Mexican food so I was fine with it. Dessert ended up being one of the highlights because we got soft-serve ice cream and lots of toppings, including little churros. We were both so full we were miserable, but as in traditional sizzler style, that's what you do I guess lol The employees that we dealt with were nice so all in all it was a pretty good experience, even with the limited salad toppings. Adding to my overall rating is that even though the restaurant wasn't crowded at all, a man came and sat a booth down from us and blew his nose several times during his meal, which was kind of gross. The one star is for the food. The waiter was very kind. The food bar was super messy and the soups were pretty much empty. There was hardly any salad dressing, I felt like I was scrapping the bottom for some. I was very disappointed. I wouldn't have written a review if it wasn't for what happened next. About an hour later as Im driving home I start getting really bad stomachache. I almost didn't make it home. It was super painful and making loud sounds.
