I came in tonight to get dinner as usual. Paola (spelling is probably off) offered me a coupon. It was a scratch off - I asked can I use this now or is this for later? She said they complained about her not passing them out so I can use it now. I scratched off and it said BOGO. I told her this was exciting because the coupon I had and was gonna come use was a BOGO but it said it expired 2 days ago. I then tell her the order and she says the coupon isn't working and that I'd have to buy two things. I then added the macaroni salad & she still said it didn't work and I couldn't use it now. She handed it back & I said I would prefer not to take a coupon that doesn't work. She then set my receipt down with an attitude and I said I'm ok. Then when she called my number I just knew it was mine because I was one of the only people in there waiting - it was a plate and a side so I could tell. She then said with an attitude "that's why you shoulda taken your receipt that's how you know your number" with a smirk on her face. I love this place but not paolas customer service. After this I asked her name & left. She immediately picked up her phone at the front counter to make a phone call infront of a customer waiting to order. I love Ono Hawaiian, but this location (Power Rd and 202) was the worst in terms of food. I ordered the teriyaki chicken. The chicken was 80% fat. The teriyaki sauce was watered down. I'm surprised this place only has 3 stars. We've been a few times and had great food there, very close to what you can eat in Hawaii. I judge Hawaiian places by their chicken katsu and mac salad and Ono did not disappoint! The employee who helped us was a bit oblivious and did not hand me a cup as would normally happen. My GF suggested this place, and since she's usually right, shy no give it a try? First off, the portions are huge, you will not leave hungry. We both got the chicken and bbq combo, a fried piece of chicken (crispy and tender) some grilled chicken and some thin sliced beef. Aloha! My family and I wanted something different and ordered the family meal to be delivered last night. There's lots of choices and we decided to get the teriyaki chicken, bbq beef and pork ribs! It was absolutely mouth watering. The chicken was my fave, tender and juicy with a tangy sweet sauce on top of cabbage and broccoli. Walked over to the soda machine and water was all over the floor and none of the spigots were on, so soda went everywhere. Then went to sit down, and literally every single table was dirty. We got there when they opened, so that dirty was from the day before. The food came out. We took a couple bites and knew something was off. The BBQ Beef & Kalbi Short Ribs were over cooked (see the photo). They were not busy so I don't understand why that was the case. My wife ordered the Chicken Combo - BBQ Chicken (same as above) but the Chicken Katsu coating was too hard. This is easily the worst Hawaiian BBQ place I've ever been to. In California, I never had a problem with this chain. Here, we got 3 plates. 2 did not come as ordered, and all 3 had chicken katsu.... No katsu sauce on the side. So that was fun. Super tiny slice of spam on the spam masubi. The 2 stars are for the BBQ beef, which was decent. I wish that's where it ended, but it didn't.
