    Spam musubi

This location is horrible at making musubi. The spam looks uncooked with the smallest dab of sauce on it!!! Ugh I'm so disappointed! No flavor except the saltiness of the spam. I was craving this so bad because I've had amazing experiences at other locations and I'm pregnant lol but I know now not to go to the one around the corner from my house for it. Please do better or hire cooks that actually try.

    Picking up dinner

We used to live down the street from here and have always loved eating here. Everything is made fresh daily here. So since our move to NE Mesa we don't come as often we just happened to be over on this side of town and decided to come in and grab some dinner to take home. We got the pork and beef it came with salad and steamed rice. I loved the beef it was soft, in bite size pieces, tender and the sauce it was cooked in had just the right amount of kick to it. Now the pork had a nice evenly balance of smokey flavor to it but I wish it had been cooked in a sauce also. Anyways the customer service was great, they had a good system of working together well and the restaurant itself was all around clean I've never had a bad experience here.

Worst plate lunch ever.....Teriyaki Chicken/BBQ Beef

This is the worst Hawaiian food I've ever had. I could have purchased the terriyaki chicken and beef from Panda Express for less and I would have had bigger portions for $3.00 less. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and beef plate. Small portions with cabbage under the meat to make it look like you got more. Way too dry and salty. Horrible waste of money. Go to Hapa, Moku, Big Islsnd, or L&L. Pass on Ono. The only thing that looks decent is their Katsu chicken.

It's tucked away in the corner of a strip mall, and I've probably passed it a gazillion times and never even noticed it was there. My friend had called the day before to see if there was anything gluten-free on the menu. They were so helpful when we showed up. They had remembered her call and could tell her exactly what was gluten free. This is a very casual order at the counter kind of place. The dining room is simple, but that's okay because the focus is on the yummy food. They have single plates and double plates on the menu. I got a plate that had kalbi and kalua pork. It was served with white rice, macaroni salad, and kimchi. It was amazing! The pork tasted Smoky and delicious, the kalbi beef had just the right amount of sweetness to it. The macaroni salad was also perfect. I got quite a bit of food for my money. I was able to make it into two meals because there was no way I was going to finish it in one sitting. I really like Hawaiian food, and this one is so much better than some of the chain restaurants. It's slightly more in price, but it's 100% worth it. We sat and talked for a couple hours at least. While we were sitting, there was a period when every table was taken. So it does seem like quite a few people know about this place and come. I highly recommend it!

We were able to replace the sides with more rice at no extra charge for the plate which was really nice. Honestly, it was way too much rice, so next time I'd just omit the sides altogether if I was to reorder this. The mini katsu was more than enough as well. Each piece was perfectly crispy. I loved the steamed veggies. They were unseasoned and balanced out the katsu very well. Worth the price (which was very accurate to the meal and the quality).

The chicken was really good and cooked pretty much perfectly. It doesn't have that "char" to it that Hawaiian's cook it like (if you know, you know), but it was cooked almost perfectly imo. The rice wasn't a true Hawaiian sticky rice, but close enough. It almost had more of an Asian texture to it. But it was still good. There was a lot of food, of which I'd expect from a Hawaiian spot. The teriyaki sauce was pretty tasty. It wasn't the best teriyaki sauce I've ever had, but it's a lot better than Ono's Hawaiian BBQ (their chicken teriyaki is trash!). The service was good and fast! The inside was clean and tidy. Was it the best I've ever had? No. But it's good enough to share it with my friends, invite them to go, and go back myself. I'll need to try the chicken katsu and bbq short ribs next time.

This might be the BEST Hawaiian food I have ever had. It was SO good. We both got combo plates: mine was with katsu, char siu, spicy garlic chicken, and BBQ beef; my husband got the same, except instead of katsu, he got kalbi ribs. It was fantastic! All of the meats tasted so good, the mac salad was delicious and everything has top tier quality and taste. But I think my favorite and the star of the show is the poké. We tried two different kinds: a half pound of Hawaiian style (right) and a half pound of fried crunchy garlic (left). OMG it was heavenly! Such fresh fish and amazing flavors. I absolutely LOVED them both and wanted to eat pounds of it if I could. I want to try ALL the flavors! They had about six different poké flavors and indicated that the Surprise location would have way more, roughly double that and I am so excited about that. They also have bento boxes, burgers, poke bowls, lumpia, spam musubi (including deep fried), and an assortment of desserts. They also do weekly rotating specials; this week was loco moco specials and there were a lot of different ones to try. Chef Blaise Aki came to our table and chatted with us and he is awesome. Takes pride in his food and his customer service (which was top notch, by the way). He is an awesome chef and his food is amazing! Such a good experience and I cannot WAIT until they are in Surprise!
