I typically do not review chain restaurants and I will use a metaphor to kind of explain the why behind the decision. In carnivals or county fairs, there is a revolving shooting gallery game where 2-dimensional ducks continuously rotate on a conveyer belt. Shooting one down means little because it will eventually re-surface, and there are so many plastics ducks that denting one does nothing against the flock. I mean, in order to really make a statement against the flock one would have to use a bazooka or missile launcher to bring a specific duck down. And even though I have had bad experiences with this Ono's link that have resulted in some tummy grumbles, I can forgive because I understand that sometimes I am an unlucky duck that receives the worst of a business day. But this review is not meant to shoot down this place, quite the contrary it is meant to celebrate this place all the ducking way! The fare is Hawaiian inspired, and typically solid. And it can be healthy (grilled chicken) or indulgent (katsu- Asian fried chicken) and even unnecessary in an extra side kind of way (musubi or cream cheese wontons/ragoons). My recommendation is to stick to a combo---- protein, steam greens, side of rice and macaroni salad. I forego the macaroni salad and add a side salad or extra rice, depending on the time of day. All of this to say that this place is a strong conceptual choice for fast food that feels clean and island-like. And now, to the specific reason as to why I Yelp for this place an employee of the joint who goes by the name of Alicia. This place is the move, often a time for me. And I have been to this place so much that Alicia knows my voice and knows my order. It is kind of great to drive, and have someone know your name. Now the Cheers theme song impacts me in a different way. Alicia is friendly, never in a rush, makes me feel like I am the only customer in the world (shout out to Riri) and is attentive to a fault. I think, due to our brief banter the line grew a little bit longer than it should have. But again, Alicia did not make me feel like it was a problem. She made me feel like we were on Island time. She is also a salt to the earth type of person, a down-to- roll, kind of girl because she posed for her moment in the light. Workers like here elevate a fast food choice to a welcomed visit. read more

Very bad customer service. I can never get help from the three employees standing behind the counter. You have to wait for them to finish their conversation before even being greeted. I tried to have a conversation with the shift leader but she walked away from me mid conversation which leaded to this yelp. I can now see the problem is the shift leader. Whenever I'm craving a spam musubi, chicken katsu or Hawaiian ribs but don't feel like making it myself, I come here. I would visit this place more but the problem is the drive thru is pretty slow. I get that they make the food as you order so you can't expect 2 minute service but I feel like maybe they can make things faster by taking orders as soon as you get to the drive thru speaker. Sometimes I find myself waiting 5 minutes or more to get my order taken. It would also help to maybe move the menu stands closer to the entrance so they could take more orders before cars get to the window or have someone go out there to take orders when there's a line of cars. Often times they waste time when cars are just sitting there waiting to get their orders taken only to wait again for their food to be prepared. It doesn't make sense. I like to get the BBQ Chicken Musubi. I've tried other things from here but the last few visits ... I've always gotten the Chicken Musibi and it's my favorite here. I got a coupon for a bogo aloha plate.first of all wanted to pre order on their app, but i didnt let me use the coupon (not the first time it didnt let me) I was so looking forward it. Heads up for those reading this review... Let me start by saying that the food was definitely not worth the price. It used to be really good but it has really taking a nose dive. I spent nearly $50 for a late lunch with a friend and upon leaving i asked for a bag twice and a very heavy set woman with glasses walked over with a very rude attitude when i asked for it then she just walked away and ignored me. Then i asked another girl by the name of Breises, she also had an attitude and walked away and over to the drive-thru window with the heavy set girl leaving me standing there, wth?! I spoke up again and Breises returned with a snippy attitude about charging me 10 cents after spending nearly $50... I gave them their measily 10 cents which paying customers should never be charged for. Later on I called to make a complaint and some shift manager by the name of Alejandra, if that was really her name. She kept playing stupid with me and would not give the name of the rude fat woman wearing glasses. I repeatedly asked for her name and the shift manager pretended that she didn't understand me, but she knew exactly what i was saying and kept getting very quiet after I repeatedly asked the same question... Then suddenly the line goes dead. I attempted to call back twice and they just hung up both times without A word spoken. I will definitely be going in there again but only to obtain some video footage of them. It's time for people to be exposed online for there's a mistreatment towards good paying customers. People need to be held accountable because they nobody deserves to be mistreated. Additionally, I'll be contacting the corporate office to make a formal complaint cuz this type of behavior is absolutely unacceptable. I have been coming to Ono's San Pedro since they first opened. This location has by far been my favorite over the years. I was highly disappointed and upset at the seafood mix I received today. I got a lot of rice, macaroni and cabbage but for the proteins it's like they said let's give some normal pieces and add some small pieces. I did not order miniature shrimp or fish. And the chicken was thin and stringy with barely any chicken. The worker informed me that they have to follow a certain portion size yet this size is way different from all the other days I come. At first I was initially offered a free plate than it went to sorry we can give you either a free side of chicken or shrimp. You can only pick one. So much for customer service. There was no manager on site when I called only the head cook. Smh!!! I usually never do a yelp review but it's unfortunate that my local Ono's is not valuing their customers like they use to back in the days. We pay a lot of money for a good meal and not for a plate that looks like this! I hope this Ono's gets it together because you guys are not the same Ono's I been coming to for years.
