Ono Seafoods! I have been waiting all day for this review. Now it's hard to mess up Poke for me on the count of I can eat fish all day everyday. Ono Seafoods easily ranks within my top 3 places of getting Poke on the island of Oahu. The savory Shoyu they put over the rice on your Poke bowl puts it over the top. The fish is always fresh (trust me, I know fresh fish) and it's seasoned just right. The Poke is not overwhelmed with sauce like many other places but it's just enough seasoning and sauce to complement the fish. If you go during lunch time expect to stand in line but it's worth every second. My only issue here is portion size but then again I'm a braddah who can eat so the poke bowl is just a snack for me. I usually go with the two choice bowl and the side of Kim chee cucumbers and that usually satisfies me. If your going to Onos your going for quality not quantity, if you want quantity take your okole to Foodland where it's all about quantity lol. But if it's fresh fish you crave then Onos is your place. Parking is a issue but I usually just pretend I can't read and park in the bank parking or the Jiu-Jitsu guys parking. read more

If you're looking for a poke spot in Honolulu, Ono Seafood might be on your list, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but there are other places that are just as good, if not better, and with shorter lines. The spicy ahi and tako that I got were definitely tasty, but nothing too extraordinary. That being said, it's still worth checking out, especially if you're a poke lover like myself. The portions are generous and the quality of the fish is top notch. The service was quick and friendly, and they have a decent selection of toppings and sauces to choose from. One downside is the price - it's definitely on the higher end for poke. But if you're willing to splurge a little for quality fish, it's worth it. Plus, the location is convenient if you're in the area, and they have a few tables outside if you want to enjoy your poke on the spot. Overall, I'd give Ono Seafood a solid 4 stars. Have no clue how ive never left Ono's a review before?!?! Best.Poke.Ever! Freshest and the local secret thats not so much a secret anymore. Hole in the wall place next to a bank and jiujitsu place. 2 and a half wooden picnic tables outside for you to sit and eat the delicious poke. Spicy, miso and the tako poke are our faves! Get the super size and you can also half and half to try a couple flavors. So many imitation poke places popping up everywhere even off the island...no one does it like Ono's They arent open on tuesdays which is a sad day for us when we are on oahu cause we could eat poke everyday! Price is very inexpensive and if you get the super, you get a drink. They sell pickled items and kimchees and some seaweed salad. The cucumber kimchee wasnt korean style but I totally forgive them. Their Spicy Ahi and Octopus poke bowls are absolute must-tries. Also tried their tuna which is super fresh and melts in your mouth, while the octopus has the perfect texture--not too chewy, just right. Asked multiple people what their favorite poke spot in Honolulu was and they all said Ono so of course I was going to come here and try it for myself. There is a huge red sign that says Ono Seafood on it so you can't miss it. There is no inside seating and there are only a couple tables outside for seating. It's not a big spot at all and there are only a few parking spots in the small lot. I ordered the regular bowl size to go with the shoyu ahi and spicy ahi. Both of the flavors were delicious and the fish was so soft and fresh. I really liked that the spicy ahi was not drenched in a ton of sauce to let the freshness of the ahi come through. After trying so many poke spots in Oahu, I must say that Ono Seafood is one of my top favorites. The shop is quite small and there are only 2-3 tables outside, so their food is mostly meant for takeout. They share a parking lot with other businesses, so you don't have to worry too much about that. Luckily, the day my friends and I went, the line wasn't too long. It didn't take long to order either since there was a menu outside for you to look at. When you order a poke bowl, it comes with a free drink. I loved every option I chose! Went for the first time today and had the regular spicy ahi with brown rice. Such a good deal, only $7 for that with a drink. My lunch date had the shoyu ahi, which was equally delicious! Went to Ono Seafood today to get some lunch. I was only in there for a few minutes. They are fast with their service so I was in and out. Within the few minutes I was in there my truck was towed. I see a sign that says Ono Seafood parking in a dirt lot next to their store. When I went back inside to ask about the parking the owner said "oh yes they watch to see where you park and they will tow your car." It would have been nice if there was better warnings or if they could mark the correct parking stalls that are available to park in. Be aware of their parking. it seems like its a trap to park there. I recently visited Ono Seafood in Honolulu and had the mixed spicy ahi poke, and let me tell you, it was hands down the best poke I've ever had. The freshness of the fish was unmatched, and the spicy seasoning was just the right level of heat--not overwhelming, but enough to add a perfect kick. This is my go to place when I have a poke craving in Kapahulu. Unfortunately I had to knock off 1 star because they did not enforce the 6 ft social distancing as well as they should have during a pandemic. Food was great as always and customer service. However, todays encounter was uncomfortable because 3 Caucasian males were not only NOT 6 ft social distancing but also in my personal space. Definitely a hole in the wall type store. You walk in and there are fridges full of seafood deliciousness all around you. You tell the nice ladies what type of poke you want and they mix it up right infront of you and work their magic and yummy goodness is created right infront of your eyes. My favorite is definitely the creamy spicy one, but the wasabi one is pretty darn good too and has a good kick. The tako poke is different but good as well. Even their dried tako is good. Best poke I have ever had! We were on a trip to Oahu just to seek out poke spots and Ono Seafood is the place we went back to 3 times! My favorite is the Spicy Ahi an it was not super spicy, just a kick to it. I'm not sure what they put in it, but it was soooooooo good! We also went with the Shoyu Ahi with their yummy secret shoyu sauce. Each meal comes with a drink (guava for me!) and their fish is so fresh! I'm so addicted to this place- their poke is the best on Oahu. In the past, they ALWAYS used to run out of rice, which was annoying. But, they finally bought a second rice cooker!! And since their poke bowls are now their number one seller, I don't think they will run out of rice any time soon. You cannot beat $6 poke bowls (tax included) made with the best poke on the island that are big enough to get you full AND come with a drink!! I've yet to come across a better poke deal. read more

A little late to review but thinking about the islands (and EXPECTING to have the BF to produce another journey out this summer) reminded me with this BRILLIANT poke. Practically nothing like it! This place is way over priced for no service, no room to sit. I realize it's inside menu tuna price had a sticker on it and says $37/ LB what kinda of fresh tuna goes this high price? And I see other yelp reviews posted photo of this menu about a week ago it was $32 or something and couple weeks ago it was even lower. best place on the island for poke bowls! they keep it simple and delicious. my favorite is the spicy ahi of course. the ahi is always fresh and tender. you also get a drink with your poke bowl! the parking lot is a little cramped, there's only a few stalls. the store is also small, the line is usually out the door. but the wait is not long and it's totally worth the little stress getting there on the busy kapahulu streets. ono's is perfect! read more
