regular short rib plate, small poke plate, unagi triangle, poke triangle, buldak chicken triangle
    Romyn A.

I ordered the regular short rib plate, small poke plate, and the 3 triangles of unagi, poke, and buldak chicken. I was so excited to try this place and had hoped it would be a place I'd come back to, but it was just alright to me. The short rib plate was good, but maybe in the smaller portion for a quick fix. The poke wasn't terrible quality, but it wasn't up to my standard of melt in your mouth. Unagi was mediocre and the buldak chicken was nothing crazy. The edamame with lime was good. Overall, this place would be fine for quick fixes and small bites but definitely not worth a $50 meal for two lol.

On our way back home, we decided to get dinner here. Food was good, but we didn't get one of our orders, their Dubai Marshmallow Chocolate Cookies Dessert ($7). We didn't notice it until we got home and it was already too late to go back because one, it's a bit late already and second, by the time we get back there they would be closed. I don't know how they would forget it, it was the very first thing on the receipt which was taped on the front of the to-go bag! I don't know how these places don't double or triple check the orders as they go which they should as part of giving good customer service. The workers are actually the ones representing the establishment and they're not doing a very good job at it as they're doing a disservice to their customers.

I visited this place for the first time. All of the Japanese-style onigiri were delicious. The kimchi was tasty. The atmosphere felt more like a stand than a restaurant. Since I got takeout, there wasn't really any service to mention.

I've been here twice now. The first time wasn't particularly memorable, but I wanted to give it another shot before committing to an opinion. Unfortunately, the second visit confirmed that it's not worth the time. Most recently, I ordered the chicken teriyaki and the unagi (broiled eel). Both were noticeably bland. Unagi is usually a safe bet because it tends to have a consistent, rich flavor even at basic sushi spots. Here, it was completely flat. It tasted like it had never been marinated, and no seasoning was added to make up for it. They do offer a generous condiment station, which is a nice gesture. But even after trying to resuscitate the triangles with some emergency flavor injections, they were too far gone. The atmosphere is casual and geared toward takeout. There are a few seats inside and a couple of small outdoor tables. If the food were better, it could be a nice spot to sit outside on a sunny day with BART trains rolling by overhead. The menu is small, which should make it easier to maintain consistency and quality. Right now, though, the execution just isn't there. Maybe things were better when they first opened, but at this point, it feels soulless and phoned in. With so many solid options nearby, it's hard to recommend this place unless it is the only thing open at 9pm and you need something quick. If you're after a handheld rice snack, I'd suggest checking out Yonsei Handrolls down the street instead.

Ordered for pickup the other day and the Triangles were delicious! We got the short rib, the unagi, the grilled salmon and teriyaki chicken. They were all very yummy but we especially liked the one with short ribs. I really appreciate that the filling goes all the way down/into the Triangles and the price wasn't bad at all either! Would definitely go again!

Found a piece of plastic in my rice triangle that had been used for the spicy tuna. Perhaps it could be understandable if it was busy and they were rushing to get food out, but we were the only people in the store ordering.

Super delicious oori triangles! I had the spicy tuna, short rib and the spicy tofu. While they all could use a little extra heat, they were delicious! My fave was probably the spicy tuna, it was also like have a giant spicy tuna handroll. Also appreciate that the three pack comes with delicious edamame.

Wow! I am so pleasantly surprised at this restaurant. I often make my own musubi/onigiri/rice balls at home so I try not to eat out for it, but this place is definitely somewhere I will go to again and again! The selection of different meats/fillings were amazing and delicious. I had the spicy samyang chicken and the kalbi. My boyfriend had the spicy pork, kalbi, and salmon. We got our order very fast as we barely had to wait. Even then, the food was still fresh and hot. It's a very cute hole in the wall but it does not have too much seating.

Thank you Oori on Salono Ave you guys are so nice love this place! Always friendly service quick and delicious!

This place has been in my bookmarks for quite some time now. I decided to give it a try today because I wanted something a little different. I ordered the 4 piece triangle box so I could share with my brother. Spicy Ahi tuna, chicken teriyaki, short rib and spicy pork. My brother really liked the short rib. He said it was very flavorful and preferred it over the others. I really enjoyed the spicy ahi tuna. I liked the texture of it lol and the spicy pork was pretty good as well. They both had the best flavor and taste to me. The chicken teriyaki was not that good, I wouldn't order it again in future visits here. Edamame was good. Staff/service was nice and ambiance of the place... it was quiet because I came right as lunch time was getting started. Inside is very small and there are small tablets to the side where you can place your order. The order did not take that long to be ready.

It appears to be popular with families as well. It was a Friday evening after 9pm, kind of late for us to eat very much but I needed something so we popped in. It was quiet, maybe three or four other tables. Our food server was patient as I looked over the fairly large menu. Ended up with some of my current faves: hamachi nigiri, California roll, yam roll, and salmon skin roll. Everything was thoughtful, well prepared, and delicious. It was just enough food and I was good for the night. On our second visit, my hubby and I brought my dad for lunch to celebrate his 88th birthday. It was pouring rain outside but we were fortunate to get parking right outside the door. We ended up sitting by the window which was the same table we sat at during our first visit. We ordered gyoza (6) for the table. We all ordered bento. Dad had the beef short ribs and California roll, hubby had the Vegetable tempura and California roll, I had the Saba shiyoyaki and hamachi sashimi. All three came with miso soup and salad. Everything was delicious. My fish was well seasoned and moist, dad's beef short ribs were tender, hubby's tempura was light and crisp. Lunch was very reasonably priced for all we ordered. I am definitely a fan of this place and look forward to dining here again.

We ordered the natsu yasumi roll, the riceless sakana special, mango tango roll, and the classic lion king roll. Everything looked just as impressive as it tasted. Not to mention, the rolls came out quickly despite the level of detail in the presentation. The 4.8 star rating is well deserved! Everything we have had has been fresh, delicious, and well presented. The sashimi, specialty rolls, baked rolls (cooked ingredients besides tobiko), nigiri, and vegan/vegetarian rolls have all been excellent. I like the purple rice they use (sushi rice mixed with black rice) as it helps them stand out in both flavor and healthy offerings. The service is consistently on point too. Our servers have always been very courteous, attentive, and hard working. I appreciate that they can offer this level of food and service in a casual environment. I heard that they opened up a location in Albany within the last year or so that we have yet to visit. They do a great job and we're looking forward to dining with them for years to come.

I see a lot of people ordering maybe 3-4 handrolls and sharing appetizers but I mainly focus on the handrolls. These handrolls are on average 2-3 bites for me, 2 would be a big bite. There is no discount if you order from a set so order the sets only if you truly want every item in the list. If you come for lunch, take a look at their lunch sets because it comes out to only a couple dollars more and you get cucumber and edamame as an appetizer which is enough to share amongst two people. I love that they make the sushi rice vinegary here. I enjoy most of the items that I normally would like, there isn't a bad one except sometimes the black garlic aioli on the seared albacore tastes a bit fatty to me. Otherwise everything I order from my pictures are always fresh and good. One thing I noticed for the snow crab and chives is that they do not use mayo here compared to their Oakland location. I loved the ocean trout I had in early May and sad to see it gone by the end of May, it was sweet and fresh. Hope it comes back soon, @manager, let me know! lol thanks P.S. I do have a suggestion about the timing that food comes out, one time I was there for lunch and our table specifically had large gaps between the rolls coming out. I'm talking about 15 minutes before the next set comes out while other tables get multiple things in the meantime. After 45 min, I finally said something and the staff was able to get everything else out in 5 min so the kitchen was not backed up, she said it was some kind of timer the chef sets and maybe something was wrong there. I had brought a friend so I felt really bad for him to have a bad experience with the wait time but other than that the food was great.

Review for dinner service on 6 March 25…read more I had been trying off and on to get a booking but nothing was ever available, so I was pleasantly surprised to snag a seating for two within a week of the reservation because a fellow Yelper cancelled her reservation (thank you Sarah T!) The following week, we were in for a wonderful, delicious and entertaining evening. The two other couples had made their reservations back in December, so I felt very lucky we did not have as long a wait. Chef Aki-san and Michiko-san are a husband and wife team. At 6pm, the door opened and Michiko-san invited the six of us to choose a seat at the sushi bar. We all sat down before a simple place setting: a square ceramic plate, hashioki (chopstick rests), hashi (chopsticks, paper napkin and oshibori (towel for wiping your fingers). She handed us a menu and checked in with everyone to see if there were any dietary restrictions or allergies, took our drink orders and a brought a small bowl of edamame for each couple. We declined ordering any side dishes because I suspected that the 16-item omakase selection would be more than enough for the evening. As it turned out, two salads were added to our already extensive menu. Nommmm ... more tastes for me :D As we drank and munched on edamame, we watched Aki-san stocking the bar with ingredients he would be serving to us. He introduced himself and in turn we introduced ourselves - where we were from, how we learned of the restaurant, etc. It turned out to be the first time for all of us. During the course of the evening, we learned quite a bit about his history and experience working as a sushi chef before opening his own restaurant. Our menu (in order) for the evening: -Tako and Sunomono salad with shiso leaf, drizzled with a light miso sauce -Blue fin toro -Ika/squid -Hokkaido scallop -Ebi/fresh water shrimp -Sake/salmon -Saba/mackerel -Ankimono (Monkfish liver) and Sunomono salad with scallions and tobiko, shiso leaf with a ponzo sauce -Ikura, avocado and tobiko -A5 wagyu -Seared albacore -Hokkaido uni -Buri/ hamachi yellowtail -Blue fin toro -Sake/salmon cold smoked with hickory -Anago (fresh water eel) -Unagi (salt water eel) -Tamagoyaki Everything was incredibly fresh and tasted of the sea. Each piece was carefully prepared, perfectly seasoned, beautiful on the plate. He talked about each item as we tasted and ate. I loved watching as he rubbed the wasabi root against a metal shark skin grater, a tool he has had forever. Chef Aki-san chided me when I confessed I was eating the nigiri in two bites - apparently that is the wrong way to eat! Nigiri is meant to be eaten in one bite, the logic being that you don't get the full experience of the taste and flavour in two bites. My issue is that most nigiri sushi these days have too much rice that my mouth is too full to appreciate the flavour. However, he prepares "low carb" portions so the fish and beef are highlighted, yet all in balance. To sum things up - the food and presentation was perfect. I am not a fan of eel, so those were my least favourite bites. It was my first time eating monkfish liver. I found it quite delicious and would definitely eat it again. Mitchiko-san was very sweet and attentive, noting if we needed refills of water or sake jars. The atmosphere overall was light, friendly and jovial, and we enjoyed the company of who we were dining with. Not to mention that Aki-san is quite entertaining in his own right. Note: There is only one service per evening so you will not feel rushed to eat and dash. We did not get out of there until 9:30pm. He also mentioned that starting in June they will be cutting back to two days a week - Friday and Saturday only - something to keep in mind. Will try our luck getting reservations again in about 7 months to celebrate our birthdays and anniversary.
