I love the Opa Grill! Always have a great meal and a great experience here. I live far away and go there whenever my wife goes to the doctor a few blocks away from there. Minor complaint I have, very minor, usually when we are in there there's only one girl doing the waitressing and it is a bit of a longer wait sometimes for service but not enough to lose a star over. This is probably our 4 th time coming here including throwing my Dads Birthday party here in January. We came at 6:00 no reservation, party of five, seated pretty quickly. Noticed every person coming up to the couple sitting next to us waiting on them hand and foot, while we didnt even have water yet. We order very basic food, greek salad, spinach pie, octopus, gyro, pork cubes w french fries. My boyfriend and sister still hadnt gotten their dinner for a good hour later, the app of octopus came with dinner not before, no sauce for the gyro, never asked if we wanted more soda, water eyc, extra napkins.... Food has always been yummy but theres nothing worse than bad service. I dont know if we will be back, very dissapointing experience. read more

Almost decided against writing as my rating matched the Yelp rating....but it was actually a five star for taste, portion size, promptness, and menu selection - I just felt that the cost was more than warranted. Still the food was excellent - I decided against the chicken souvlaki which is my favorite greek dish (balance of taste and health...kind of), and for what looked like the house special - a dish called the chicken Mediterranean - chicken cutlet rolled around spinach and feta. It tasted very good - although I wouldn't make a habit of that dish as it was a bit too luxuriant. The only reason this place is getting a 1 is because of the location in Williston Park. I had given them a 2 previously and thought maybe I should give them one more chance. Man am I an idiot!!!!!! The one day they were completely understaffed that it took 3 hours for dinner for 2 people and the last three times we have ordered from them they have screwed up the order. The girls that take the orders on the phone are inexperienced and make mistakes often, and as I was paying the manager was busy fixing a mistake that someone else had made. They complete forgot my meal after she had repeated the order to me over the phone TWICE for my family. So I'm sitting here waiting for a salad with food getting cold. We were surprised to find this place located in a strip mall. But, there it is, sandwiched between the Rite Aid and closed Shelter Rock Library. From the moment we walked in, the hostess, server, and busboy, greeted us warmly. We decided to order the Calamari, Chicken Souvlaki, salad, and Falafel. Though the sauces perfectly accompanied the pita, Falafel, and Calamari, I think the chef that night went a bit overboard with the salt. I literally consumed at least four glasses of water, and I was still parched when I left. Also, the food got cold- fast. So, it was difficult having a conversation with a friend while racing against the food clock. Quick service, but well prepared food and the wait staff is genuinely nice. Complaints about greasy food are unjustified; greek fare typically relies on the richness of good quality olive oil. It used to be good, but food is served cold and greasy, and one diner ordered a shrimp dish that had such a foul taste that it was completely inedible. It was sent back, yet the charge still appeared on the bill. When the manager was asked by the woman who ordered it to please remove the charge he became incredibly rude! His response was "You ladies are always coming in here and sending things back, and I am sick of it. I will not remove the charge and I don't want you to ever come back here again!" Decided to try something new for a b-day dinner and so glad we did. the dining room is small so if you have a big party call ahead. We had a party of 7 and we all enjoyed our meals. the teens really liked the sausage and calamari appetizers. the Chicken Mediterranean tender and juicy. The stuffed shrimp should be renamed Shrimp encased in crab meat, sooo good. The lamb chops and the Rib steak looked good and perfectly cooked, but I didn't get a taste for myself. Considering all the great Italian and Chinese restaurants in Nassau County, you would think there would be many more quality Greek places too. Luckily for the folks in northwestern Nassau, Opa is a diamond in the rough. I work in the area and often enjoy lunch from Opa. The food is fresh and delicious. A few of my favorite items on the menu are the Greek salad topped with grilled chicken or gyro meat and the gyro (pita sandwich). The tzatziki (yogurt) sauce is phenomenal.
