Food is just ok at best but the owner and employees are just plain weird! They have their own set rules and are just not customer friendly so wonk be going back and have told my experience to every single person I have meet. If you order food even if sitting outside you can't get it in a Togo plate! Was in Kingston on business and decided to stop to get some takeout here. I ordered the chicken souvlaki pita when I arrived . The restaurant looked like a well run place with waitresses running back and forth. I only waited 5 min and my order was ready . There sauce on it was delicious and there was lots of chicken inside .. I would recommend the chicken souvlaki highly ! I've eaten here before and would also recommend the gyro here.. read more

The food is OK, not great but OK I suppose. I ordered a mixed grill plate and the gyro part of it was disgusting, the skewers and salad were OK. The thing that really ticked me off was the grilled octopus appetizer at $16 which was 6 measly pieces of meat on a plate of lettuce. This was a ripoff, even the expensive places in Woodstock give you a better count than that. The waitress was embarrassed and she had told the owner many times that people were unhappy with this and blamed her. He does not care. I will not be back, if this is the best Greek food in the Hudson Valley it's a very low bar. read more

Hidden gem in Uptown Kingston! They've somewhat recently expanded, offering a larger dining area that has been decorated quite nicely. Greek music fills the air as you dine on the many authentic Greek selections. They also carry several Greek beers. I had a hard time deciding, so many things looked good. I finally decided to order something I probably wasn't pronouncing correctly, it's always a fool-proof way of being an adventurous gourmand. Saganaki - as soon as I heard it came out flaming I was sold. And it was delicious! I also ordered the Loukaniko & Gyro Platter which came with French Fries topped with lemon, oregano and crumbled feta. 14 of us met here to dine, most of which didn't even know the restaurant existed. 14 of us left with very happy bellies. read more

First place I ate on a work trip to Kingston. There's a number of other highly rated places to eat in the immediate area, but I was craving lamb and only lamb; this was the only Greek restaurant in the area. To my disappointment, they only had gyro (beef+lamb). Nevertheless, service was friendly, food prepared neat and quickly, and prices are very modest. Heads up! *cash only* The highlight of my meal (chicken souvlaki) was the tender chunks of chicken coupled with a robust tzatiki sauce. There's table side sriracha to boot! I put that on everything! Surprisingly quick, good-tasting Greek food in Kingston. It is a small place in the Stockade District, hidden nearby restaurants. Interior is small, on a nice day you might want to sit outside. Gyros (meat) are filled with tart sauce and lots of lettuce and onions. Ask for lemon in your water. Great bite for being on your way. I really enjoyed our take out. My falafel sandwich was perfect (especially if you like lots of fresh lettuce). I would love to go back and have a nice sit down meal. They have very good social distancing inside and outside. They were also very accommodating for my picky kids that JUST wanted gyro meat on rice. I look forward to going back and eating all of the appetizers, they sound really good and the staff seems to care, even if there were a few small missteps with the order, they were very busy. My wife and I ordered takeout after a Kingston Stockade FC game, and this was a hat trick for us! I ordered the Zeus sandwich, and everything on it was fresh and delicious. The chicken and gyro were cooked perfectly. We also shared the Greek Wings and the Opa Sticks (fried zucchini). The tzatziki was amazing. Will definitely come back and order way more! read more

Opa! has transformed. When I first tried it, they were basically a counter and a few tables behind a store front that made halfway decent Greek food. I liked it, but wasn't really impressed. When I went back the second time I was stunned. The food had a major uptick in quality and they added a beautiful dining room. All the nice things other people are saying are true; the place is adorable, the food is great, but but but... let's talk about ventilation. We sat in a booth in the back dining room and I knew what was happening, I could smell it all around me. And I spent the rest of the evening smelling like a freakin' gyro! I had to take a shower before bed, four hours later; the next morning I smelled my socks and they still smelled like gyros! And if it doesn't get you from sitting in the place, it'll get you walking out because the vent (which apparently does actually work to a degree) blasts you with gyro-air as you walk out! Again, nothing wrong with the food, maybe I'll try take-out one day, but I'm never going to sit in this place and eat again. read more

The food at Opa is not the very best choice in Kingston, but the place is worth a visit if you feel like having a solid, relatively fresh and affordable lunch. Greek coffee, smelts, pastitsio and a few other soldiers of the traditional Greek cuisine are often successful. Warm comfort food... replete with the expected Greek food establishment decor (inescapable blue roofs atop whitewashed buildings)... and Opa becomes an occasional lunch winner for sure, especially at times when you feel like having a warm meal you'll need a spoon to consume. read more

Landed here last night with college kids after checking menus at Stockade, 22 Ravens, Boitsons and Redwood and not finding anything we were in the mood for; and we were all shaking our heads that we don't LIVE in this restaurant. Great staff, nice varied menu with lots of offerings for the vegetarians in your life, great prices. Must have: lamb chops, chicken wings, gigantes! Nothing special here. We had the athens gryo. It's passable. I found it odd that the athens gyro is considered to be the upgraded gyro. It's what i would consider a standard gyro. But around here you have to order it special and pay more. The greek sald is also fine, except for the odd dressing. It would be much better if they served it with a vinegar based dressing. Instead it's creamy, but not your standard creamy greek; it really lets the salad down. read more

Cute tiny Greek food place (NOT a diner) tucked in downtown Kingston with a few tables (and table service) that seems to do more takeout business than anything. Excellent moussaka and decent gyros, no alcohol, service beverages. Of special note, what appeared to be home-made pita, at least warm and delicious. Salad was plentiful but a bit ordinary. Friendly staff, quick kitchen. Note CASH ONLY, they have one of those robber ATMs tucked next to the bathroom, but the prices are reasonable so a twenty will get you in and out with plenty of change. read more
