We randomly spotted this restaurant on the way home and walked in, we were seated right away. I find the venue to be cute and cozy, yet intimate. Every dish had a generous serving, I think we over ordered for two people, but it was satisfying. Chicken Tawook: The chicken was tender, juicy, and marinated to perfection. It had the perfect blend of spices that gave it a rich flavor without being overpowering. Spicy Hummus with Chicken Shawarma: This dish was a standout! The hummus was creamy and had just the right level of heat, and the generous portion of chicken shawarma on top made it hearty and satisfying. Yogurt Cucumber Dip: Light and refreshing, the dip provided a cooling contrast to the spicier dishes. It was perfect for pairing with warm pita bread or as a side to the Tawook. The ambiance is wonderful. I love the music here, very chill vibe. The manager, Woody, was very attentive in explaining everything to me. I was impressed by my dish, Ali's Special. It was baba ganoush, (I am probably spelling it incorrectly), a feta salad, a bed of rice with tomato and onions with delicious steak prepared the way I like it. Pita bread and a salsa was on the side. I also ordered the house fries which were delicious The bf got a chicken dish which he cleared out. Everything was so good. Exceptional food here! Such great flavors, we couldn't get enough! Called to make a reservation and they happily obliged. We got sat right away inside of the nicely decorated dining room. Service was courteous. However since our waiter was also the bartender, service was a bit slow sometimes. We tried the Halloumi cheese which is good combo of sweet and salty but left me with more to be desired. We then got 2 plates, the combo and the Chicken Tawpook. Our dishes were soooo good! Strong but not overwhelming flavors. Tender meats. Creamy hummus. Warm pitas. Just fantastic. We ended with the Labne Cheesecake. Never had anything like this. Very decadent, rich flavors. Had dinner at Open Sesame after a long day, and it was honestly one of the best Mediterranean spots I've been to in LA. The price point is great--entrees come with a skewer, salad, and dip, which is rare in LA where most places charge extra for everything. I had the combo plate with chicken, kafta kebab, and beef kebab. Everything was cooked perfectly and well-balanced--not too salty. The Open Sesame salad was fresh and tasty, and the spicy habanero sauce (just ask for it!) was a great addition. Our server, Katin, was amazing--super helpful and kind. The restaurant is excellent and Adam accommodated to our party of 8, shout out to him for the GREAT service and hospitality. Very cozy place and our family was warm with the heat lamps on a brisky night. The party platter and veggie plate were excellent. Went there for Ramadan Iftar on a weekday last week. Staff is very friendly and the owner/manger is very hands on which shows the care into every detail in this place. Loved the food except the grape leaves, was not good at all. Zaatar manoosh was really good and their grilled meat and seafood was perfection. Absolutely amazing. No notes. Food was impeccable. Chicken was so juicy, rice and salad were flawless. The potatoes are a must order and are so crispy. Our server was so friendly and gave us amazing suggestions. He was super personable and went out of his way to make sure we had an amazing dining experience (which we did). Just a 3 minute drive and 15 minute walk away from the melrose trading post, you will stumble upon a delicious and authentic Mediterranean joint! It is family owned and I cannot rave about this place enough! We had the pleasure of being served by Tsige, who was well versed in the house faborites and popular items! She reccomened the fried cauliflower and, oh my god, we CANNOT reccomend it enough! Everything tasted fresh! Me and my friend opted to do a la carte for most items to as much of the menu as possible! Highly reccomend the Tahini sauce, falafel, chicken tawook, and lamb chops! It can get a bit pricy, but the food is sooo worth it! Just to note, street parking only, we were lucky to find one pretty close on a Sunday evening! I'm not sure who the gentleman was that helped us but he was very kind and considerate towards our uncertainty of what to order. I'm very picky about my meat but I ordered the French Cut Lamb Chops with the salad. Not a fan of feta, but I forgot to read the menu properly-- my bad. However, I order them medium well and they were cooked perfectly! The char was amazing and my lamb wasn't too cooked or undercooked. I tried their Iced Moroccan Green Tea and it was unsweetened, so I didn't take to it much. Not my taste. Nevertheless, everything about my experience was perfect. Open Sesame is definitely a solid spot for some Lebanese fare, but I don't find myself particularly excited to come back. I ordered the Fried Cauliflower as an appetizer which I really enjoyed. It was crispy and not too oily, and the onion and tomato were a good touch. I honestly preferred it without the tahini, but it was nice to have that option. For my main, I got the Open Sesame Combo, which comes with Kafta (I opted for beef), Chicken Tawook, and beef shawarma. My favourite part of the plate were the Beef Kafta and the Baba Ghannouj. The garlic sauce wasn't that garlicky to me, and I personally wasn't a huge fan of the pita. The serving size of the combo plate with an appetizer was more than enough for me to have a full meal, and a second one for leftovers. They were quite busy on a Friday night, and the service suffered because of it. We had to wait and struggled to flag someone down at the end of the meal, and we felt a bit like we were being rushed out when they finally got to us. That being said, the ambience with the decorations, heated patio, lights, and music was great, so it wasn't a huge deal that we had to sit there a bit longer. Overall, this a solid place to try. It didn't blow my mind, but it's a good Lebanese fix. If you're going during a popular time, be prepared for some slower service. read more

The location itself is very fun, a fun location to be out and about possibly on a date night etc. Also there is a nice ambiance within the restaurant itself. But sorry to say Yelpers the restaurant, as in the food itself is far less than any other Mediterranean spot out there. There's nothing that stands out, or leaves me wanting to return.
