One of the best sushi spots in Jax, love being regulars here! Super friendly and attentive staff. Place is always clean and the set up is cozy and peaceful. Booths make dinners feel intimate and music is very calming. Menu is amazing, lots of options and appropriately priced. Rolls are so fresh and delicious. Love that their sushi is made proportionately and are the perfect bites; not just globs of rice made to be taken in 2-3 bites like other places - biggest sushi pet peeve! Here you taste all the ingredients you're expecting and everything is just great quality. Favorite rolls are Houston, Brown Dragon and Green Island! Their hibachi is also amazing. Steak and veggies are cooked to perfection. Never had a dry steak here. Veggies are brilliantly slightly undercooked so that it still has a good bite to it and not soggy. Fried rice is flavorful. The sauce is delicious, more on the saucy side, and not overly salty like other places. Overall just love this place.

The chicken katsu was my favorite dish. The portion size and flavor was delicious, and it wasn't dry compared to many other katsu dishes at other places. Sushi was good, it tasted very fresh especially with the lemon on my sushi special order. Ambiance and environment is really nice compared to other sushi restaurants nearby. Dark setting and booths available for dates or family dine-ins! Definitely recommend this restaurant for a good sushi sit down place!

If your looking for an excellent sushi restaurant in the Southside Blvd area of town this is it! This is a wonderful little jewel located in the strip of shops at corner of old baymeadows and southside blvd - out in front the Publix. The restaurant is small, very clean and well lit. The service was great, we were well taken care of, drinks and food was brought out at steady pace, and all requests for sauces and extra wasabi were delivered quickly. The food was fantastic! We ordered sushi, several special rolls, cooked veggies and noodles, shrimp tempura, everything was delicious! They also have bento boxes and authentic katsu donburi with egg on top, and offer several domestic and Japanese beers and sake. This is definitely my new favorite sushi restaurant in Jacksonville and I happily recommend this establishment to you.

We really enjoyed the sushi today . we decided to go in for lunch and yes they were open... ;-) We had the yellowtail, tuna and the eel very good , very delicious the edamame is not spicy it's only steamed which is unfortunate because we do love the spicy edamame. We also enjoyed some of their seaweed salad and their salmon rolls... For our first time here we really liked it.

Once again... superb sushi and service. Started with Miso Soup and Seaweed Salad. Followed with beautiful sushi that was delicious. I started with their lunch special of three rolls for $11.95. I chose Key West roll, Escolar roll, and Tuna Avocado roll. I added a special of the day True Love roll. Beautiful roll with lobster salad, shrimp tempura, fish eggs, and eel sauce on top. The inside was loaded too but I don't remember what it was. I do know it was delicious and then some. I always enjoy the presentations here as they are always creative and beautiful. The service is always top notch as well. I personally think this is a hidden sushi restaurant in the Baymeadows and Southside area. The ambiance is very inviting as well.

Stopped in a couple of weeks ago for lunch. The place wasn't that busy. I ordered the bento box. Food was decently priced and good. The service was good as well. Apparently they have amazing chicken Katsu which is what my co-worker ordered. For what I believe was $10 they received a big ole bowl. Might have to give that a try next time.

Unassuming little place in a shopping center. Very clean, nicely decorated and nice staff, but food was hit or miss. Sushi rolls were great - lots of fresh fish and quite large. However, the bento box was just so-so. Mostly fried items; tempura shrimp and veggies, some dumplings and I think banana(?). Bland flavor and a bit oily. The tuna roll was excellent, but chicken teriyaki was tough and pretty flavorless. Based on the reviews we must've just ordered wrong.

Open Sushi looks like a Chinese fast food joint from the outside, but don't let that fool you. The inside has a casual yet intimate ambiance. Cool decor! They're located next to Snowgenix in Deerwood Village Shopping Center. My wife and I ordered a plate of their Sweet Volcano roll for appetizers with clear soup for me and miso soup for wifey and bowls of salad with ginger dressing. We had the Chicken Katsu and Beef Shogamaki for our Mains with fried rice. The Beef Shogamaki reminds me of Bistec (one of my favorite Filipino beef dish). Flavorful! We ate everything. Very nice service all around. We purchased a $20 food certificate through the LocalFlavor app for $7.50. That's pretty much a free meal there. Well damn. Open Sushi is a bit of a hidden gem in this unassuming strip mall. Since I've been working a lot at Coffee Grinder lately, I thought I'd give them a shot when the hunger pains set in. After one visit, I'd absolutely return! I walked in at a weird time. 4:50pm on a Saturday. As one would guess, the place was empty. I certainly didn't mind since the business gave little old me their undivided attention! The restaurant is laid out fairly well, with many small booths, an even smaller sushi bar, and a long wall of seating. College football was on, so I opted to sit smack dab in front of their television. Cutting right to the chase, the Dancing Tuna and Treasure Island rolls were both great. When I eat sushi, I'm mostly looking for freshness, and I feel I got my money's worth here. The roll with the sliver of jalapeño topping was the bee's knees if you ask me. A smidge pricier than some of the other local sushi restaurants, but the stellar service more than made up for it. Very happy after this visit and I'd encourage anyone who likes sushi to give Open Sushi your business!

Most importantly after spending so much time here my friend and I both spent the night up sick. Not sure if it was from the wings or the ramen but it seemed we both had a slight case of food poisoning. Overall save yourself the time and drive to other ramen places available in Jax, as there are much better ones that won't leave you sick.

They're at 10586 Old St Augustine Road in Mandarin with a nice size parking lot so their location is great and parking isn't a concern. I'll get to the food in a minute but I'll start by saying that before we opened our fortune cookies at the end, I jokingly said "I hope one of these says 'you will get your original Facebook account back". They didn't say that but I included a photo of both because I feel like they're close enough As far as food goes, we split the Peony Sampler for an appetizer and loved it. It definitely did it's job as a sampler because now we know we like all of their appetizers and would order any of them on their own in the future. I ordered Egg Drop Soup after that because it's a favorite of mine. I always add a little salt to their version of it but I add salt to a lot of soups so that may just be a "me" thing. I had the Sweet & Sour Pork with Fried Rice for my entree, which is the same things had last time and it's still great. Between the appetizer and the soup and the entree, I was hoping to have enough to take home for lunch tomorrow and I definitely did. My wife had the General Chicken. She really liked the sauce because it was sweet but has a little bit of spicy kick to it. She said the same thing I said about the chicken itself; she loved that it was big pieces of juicy white meat. She was also surprised by how much she liked the broccoli which made for one of those things where you could get a bite of everything at once. She also had a lot to take home, so she's happy with that too. Thank you again to the person who posted about Peony in the group recently. We had a great lunch thanks to your reminder.
