I really dig this place! Saw all the positive reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a shot. Called this morning to make a same day appointment, and got in with no problems. The location is nicer than other reviewers make it out to be. Yes, it's small, but it's not a shoebox. Plus, I'd rather go to a small place with less overhead to roll into the price, you know? The exam was quick, but it didn't feel rushed. The doctor was very friendly and conversational. I just wanted a contact prescription (with no astigmatism), so the total came out to 60 bucks with a sample pair of contacts to take home. Can't beat that, really. I'll be going back when I need another exam. read more

I've always had Jason Bourne like 20/20 vision (or so I thought) so I never bothered seeing an optometrist but since it wouldn't really cost me much (since I'm insured) I thought why not? (Just so you know, I think I have the very basic VSP Insurance and all the testing only cost me $10. I'm not sure if it would have cost me extra had I gotten my eyes dilated or not.) So I made an appointment for 10:40 am this morning and got there just in time. I was greeted right away and serviced immediately. I had to fill out the paperwork and etc etc. And within matter of seconds, I was sitting in those eye exam machines. All the workers were very nice & polite. The store was very clean and well kept. The only bad thing I can say is that it's probably not in the ideal place in terms of real estate. I would have never found out about this place if it wasnt for my gf who told me about it. Because it's literally hidden on the first floor of the aroma building and because I'm sure a lot of people are not going to know or find out about this place, I thought I'd write this review bc if I can get at least another one or two other fellow Yelpers to visit, I've made this world a better place. (Plus, I own a couple of Yelp stocks so I thought I'd try to write a few more reviews. LOL) I saw Dr. Julie Chang and I have to say she's definitely one of the most polite nice patient knowledgeable doctors I have ever seen in my life. And that's saying a lot because I have been to all sorts of doctors for all sorts of services. I do not know her personally nor will I pretend like I do but I can tell you that it seem like she is one of those lucky people who actually enjoy their jobs. A lot of doctors (especially in SoCal) seem snoby and they seem to get irritated or dismissive whenever you ask questions but not Julie. She explained everything to me very thoroughly and to my surprise, everything she said or questioned all made sense. You can tell she's well versed in her profession just by the way she communicates to you. And I have to tell you, I went in very skeptical bc I knew I had great vision but I just wanted to see what it was like since it wasn't going to cost me much anyways. I was tested for all sorts of things and she confirmed my long unproven theory that my eyesight is as good as Jason Bourne's. I'm glad I have paperwork to prove it now. And i only had to pay $10. However, because I'm always staring into a computer screen I opted to get a pair of glasses (only bc I've always wanted those big dorky Steve Urkle glasses). And the glasses were only $25. I didn't get my eyes dilated bc I had a lot of things to do but I'm definitely going back to get my eyes dilated for further testing when I have time. I did bask in the more interesting frame selections (including plenty of designer brands) compared w other nearby optometries, but that's it. I don't mean to be a brat but I am a consumer and as of late I've been more conscious of customer service wherever I am spending my hard-earned money. I went in with the intention to frame-shop and get a mental idea of what eyeglass frames I wanted next since I am due for my annual eye exam. There are two male workers behind the counter, a younger and an older middle-aged man. The younger man was v. patient and accommodating in helping me figure out what I wanted, but he stepped away to help another client so I approached the other fellow. The middle-aged man, on the other hand, was unpleasant to deal with. It felt like he had a retort to everything I said. Slightly combative, too. Why would you do that to a consumer in your store, why? I'd simply asked him to add to the little list the younger man had started for me of jotting down frame names and final price after applying my insurance benefit so I can go home and think upon which I'd like to purchase (for I had abt 3-4 selected), but rather than accommodate my request he refused. He insisted I needed to make an appointment first. Um, guess my intention to get an exam and purchase the frames at the store was not obvious enough given the questions I were asking. I mean, isn't there an order to things. Since he refused to really help or assist me in any other way without first making an appt, I complied and made one but requested a late time explaining my work schedule. Eventually, he ended up answering my questions after what seemed like explaining myself through an argument by the tone in which he talked to me. What I had thought was the natural process of aiding the consumer make a well-informed purchase decision somehow seemed so unnatural to this man, I guess. I shrugged it off and came in the day of my appt, about 15 mins late due to my work schedule which I had explained. The store had not yet closed but he didn't budge and turned me away without even letting me see the doctor. The conversations with him and his (possibly) pro-business but seemingly anti-customer attitude were what turned me way off. The reason why I even have a slight hint of disdain in my tone is bc of how unpleasant this man was and how sour he turned my experience in this greatly reviewed optometry that actually had frames I liked and intended to purchase. However, I am walking away because I'd rather be a consumer at a more customer-friendly business. read more

I received the worst service ever. The guy who's at the reception was very impatient. I'm not here for an eye vision check, I asked for a thorough exam because I'm worried that i might have glaucoma or other eye diseases. When I asked questions, he didn't try to explain things. When I mentioned my problems about my eyes he did not try to understand or help at all. In contrast, he gave me a super mean look and had the worst attitude ever. That all happened within 5 minutes after I stepped inside the clinic. This clinic is for people who don't care about their eyes and just try to have glasses/ contacts prescription as soon as possible. BUT For people who care about the health of their eyes, DONT GO TO THIS CLINIC! read more

Alright Im going to start off with the tragic loss of my absolute favorite pair of prada glasses. I wore them for like 6 years, everyday all the time, fell asleep in them, sat on em dropped em loved them to death. When the hinge finally gave out i felt as if someone had just chopped off my pinky. How will I live without them!? This was s few days ago. Lucky for me I just moved, and my mom just got married so my pockets are EMPTY. yes that was sarcasm if you didnt pick up on it. Not a good time for this to happen since to replace them would be over $500 not including the exam. Also, my old optometrist is all the way in Pasadena and I didnt want to treck all the way out there....so I turned to yelp, and found Optikos....decided to give them a shot. Cant say enough good things about Optikos Optometry. The Optometrist, Julie Chang was SO sweet, I bet teaching kindergarden would have been a great second profession choice for her. Anyways, I was actually put off by this $99 exam and glasses deal because I was waiting for the catch. Seems too good to be true right? Well it wasnt. Its the real thing. My situation was a little different because I ended up using insurance, but it was still a great deal for everything I got! My exam was $40, my insurance covered the frames completely which cost $100 (the ones I picked were on the higher end, not included in the selection for the $99) and standard lenses are $25. All in all I spend $160 for an exam, High quality frames with antireflective lenses. then i switched out lenses in 2 additional pairs of glasses I brought in. 1 pair as a back up the other prescription sunglasses. 3 pairs of high quality glasses for $120 is fantastic in my book :) I am so pleased with their service and patience, I must have tried on every pair of trendy nerd glasses in there while my boyfriend nixed them all...putting them down in an unorganized fashion leading to alot of confusion haha ANYWAYS great place great experience ....this was last night. I whined when he said theyd be ready monday so he said hes rush em and have all 3 pairs ready by friday (tomorrow) yay, I have an astigmatism so they had to special order the lenses. i am pretty stingy with my stars, but i can't help but to give Optikos 5! I had a wonderful experience here. Before I went in, I knew the what glasses I wanted, I even went to a Chinese optometry place in Monterey park before I went to Optikos. I did my research online and knew what colors were available for the model I wanted, I knew the retail price and the size I wanted. So it really did boil down to which store could give me the best discounts on the glasses, eye exam and lens. (I do not have insurance) I was quoted $400+ at the chinese place...So if Optikos were cheaper, I would have went with them. I went in and went directly to the Chanel section, as that was the brand I wanted. And lo and behold there it is!!! In a very unique color that isn't carried by many stores...a blue! I like it much more than the regular black. I asked for a quotation for the package. $40 for eye exam, $60 for lens, and $290 for the glasses. (already cheaper than the chinese place) I proceed to ask for a discount and he said after I decide and get the eye exam, we can talk about it then. Since it was already cheaper than the chinese place, I went ahead. Dr. Chang was amazing! She thoroughly checked my eyes and was very informative on what I need to know..driving, reading, watching tv...etc. After I was done with the exam, the guy checked my prescription and said he got the lenses I need and it would only take 10 mins. WOW!!! This is the kind of service i am talking about!! WONDERFUL! Then he rang me up and gave me a 30% discount!!! I paid $295!!! that is like getting the eye exam and lenses for FREE!!! He even asked me of is $295 ok? I nodded, but i was screaming HELL YES in my head! I would definitely come back here and recommend it to others! I CAN SEE! The glasses game is a racket (check out the 60 minutes report) and I've experienced it first hand. When I had vision insurance I would still end up spending several hundred to get glasses I actually liked. Then I was married to them for several years just to get value. Optikos is a welcome change! I paid far less without insurance than when I had vision care and it was fast and a great experience. Originally I was going for just an exam ($40) and planned to get my glasses online at Warby, but there was no need... - Walked in on a Saturday afternoon and only waited 10 minutes - The doctor was thorough, really kind and attentive - The had a great selection of nice frames included in their $99 deal (not the usual Sally Jesse knockoffs that are just a way to upsell you to something you'd want to wear) - No hard sell just really helpful service (Brian was a gem) - My glasses were ready the next day Whether or not you have vision care this is the spot. i needed a new prescription for my contact lenses and i needed a more affordable option than my previous eye doctor, so i turned to yelp and found optikos optometry. i called and was able to schedule an appointment for the very next day- great customer service. when i showed up at 10:30am, dr. chang was ready for me. i had to fill out a bit of paperwork but in no time i was sitting down in the exam room located at the back of the store. the exam went smoothly and efficiently, taking about fifteen minutes, and then we talked about what kind of lenses would work best for my vision. i'm near-sighted with astigmatism and had previously been using proclear toric lenses, which were fine but they didn't feel as comfortable as i'd like. dr. chang recommended that i try the biofinity toric lenses and told me she'd have to order a trial pair because she didn't have my prescription in stock. in the meantime, she gave me a pair of acuvue oasys to wear temporarily as my current contacts were at the end of their thirty day lifespan. the biofinity lenses arrived in two days, which was awesome because i was just about to leave town for a while and i really wanted to wear them on my trip. when i first put the new lenses in, everything looked clear and crisp! the prescription she gave me is probably the best vision correction i've ever had. the biofinity lenses also felt very comfortable, much more than the proclear lenses i had been using. it was exactly what i wanted, a hassle free experience at the eye doctor for a reasonable price. it cost me eighty dollars for the exam, two pairs of trial lenses, and my prescription. my boyfriend ended up going here also for a hard contact lens eye exam and he had a similar experience- efficient, friendly, and affordable service. he ordered a pair of hard contacts and a pair of ray-ban glasses with polycarbonate lenses and it cost four hundred and forty dollars for the whole shebang- exam, hard contacts, and glasses. not bad at all. read more

I went in as a walk-in and waited about 10 minutes before being seen by Dr. Julie. Dr. Julie was amazing! She answered all my questions and made the examination very comfortable. I was able to get my eye glasses the same day. The whole process from walking in and walking out with my new glasses took about 40 mins to an hour. I was looking for a good optometrist in Koreatown and I came across this place on yelp. Had great reviews so I thought I'd give this place a try. Besides I was down to my very last pair of contact lenses. Parking was very convenient. They validate the parking ticket for you before you leave. They have a wide selection of frames and sunglasses for men, which I really liked. The optometrist saw me right away. Dr. Kim was very thorough with my exam, explaining everything that she was doing. She recommended I switch to a healthier contact lens since I have a bad habit of falling asleep in my lenses. LOL (Doesn't everybody?). So far I must say I'm loving these new lenses! Overall, great service with reasonable prices (esp for someone like me who doesn't have vision insurance). This place definitely deserves 5 stars! read more

Never write reviews but I had to after coming here today. Had an appointment at 1pm and was seen right away for my eye exam. Had to purchase new glasses since my prescription changed but only paid $80 which included frames, polycarbonate lenses and the anti-glare coating! I do have insurance so most of the costs were covered BUT brought my niece with me who had her eye exam there the previous weekend (which was only $40) who has no insurance and only paid $80 for her glasses too! The staff is super friendly and helpful! I will def recommend them to others and come again!! Beats lame Lens Crafters! read more

This place has the best service. I've been going here for 3 years for my annual exam and contact lens order. Now today, while I was at work, my contacts were really bothering me and dry. I had blurry vision and tried everything. I tried rinsing out and cleaning the contacts in my office bathroom but nothing worked. So, as a last resort before driving 1 hour home to get a new pair of contacts, I called them to see if they would do me the favor of giving me a free trial pair of my prescription and help me out of a jam. They said yes and I rushed over there, which is down the street from my office on Wilshire and within 5 mins I was out the door with a new pair and relief. I won't go anywhere else from here on out. You can buy the same contacts anywhere, even over the internet, but you don't get this kind of service. read more

I came back to good ol' faithful Yelp, and thought, ehh why not. Saw the review for Optikos around lunch time, made an appointment, came in for an appointment that afternoon. Literally, in less than 25 minutes, I was out the door with a new prescription, and a "test" pair of new contacts. Total cost= $60. great price, dontcha think? The staff was very accommodating and friendly too! Parking is also quite easy with the fairly spacious lot they share with Aroma spa. Optikos also validates, so parking was free. wowee! read more

Just the best. Simple, straight-forward, quick (even as a walk-in!) and with great doctors who care for you whether you are a one off or a long time patient. When you need an appointment, it's always an easy process with a great doctor who always seems to be working, even on a Saturday afternoon. I dont know why I put getting new glasses off for so long. I was running late to my appointment, yet I was seating in less than 15 minutes after arrival. The doctor was amazing, answered all my questions and I did not feel rushed at all. Picking out frames was really painless, the person helping me out was suuuper patient. He was really helpful on helping me pick one out that I liked. I took forever, because they are my glasses, and ended up buying two frames instead of just one. They'll be ready in 2 or 3 days so I'm excited to go pick my glasses up! read more

I was kind of skeptical about coming to this place because it was just too good to be true. I haven't had an eye exam for one year so I didn't know what prescription my glasses were gonna be. I do know that my eye sight got worse. I called to make an apt and got an apt at a time that was convenient for me. It was a $40 for a vision exam witch was great. I went in met with Dr. Yoo she was awesome she was very nice and answered all of my questions. Brian helped me pick out my glasses I was so indecisive and he was very patient . At the end I got some prada glasses got them the same day and I only paid $240 ... I was very happy I came back because there was some scratches on my pradas and a little faded so they handled it and they ordered a new pair... I'm just so happy with this place. I'm very impressed with Optikos Optometry. I came in for an eye exam and there was no wait at all. The eye doctor was quick in the examination, kind, and very knowledgeable. I'm kind of on the borderline between needing glasses and not needing glasses. Instead of convincing me to spend money on glasses then and there, I was presented with several options and was encouraged to take time to think them over. Super cool place with a Starbucks inside the shopping center in case you have to wait but usually. the wait is very short. all the doctors are super nice and knowledgeable and the prices are cheap. as you can see they don't need my review they already have the best reviews, so I'll just get back to my 3 toddlers. read more

Seriously the best service I have ever had at an optometry. My mother had the lenses for her Prada sunglasses replaced with polarized prescription lenses here and they were ready in a few days, which is extremely fast because they had to order the lenses for her. I used to go to Costco, but this place is SO much faster and friendlier. The staff is so friendly, when we left the shop everyone said goodbye to us. I'm definitely going to refer my friends and family to Optikos and will come back here again and again! read more

I had a GREAT experience here! They offer an eye exam with lenses for $99, I got an eye exam for both glasses and contacts, a trial pair of contact lenses (which last 2 weeks), and a pair of glasses for a total cost of $119! And that's without insurance! I called several other places, throughout LA, and I don't know that a better deal exists! I also asked if they could take a pair of my old glasses and a pair of sunglasses and put prescription lenses in and they were able to do that for $80, which seemed totally reasonable. They also are offering me a 3 month supply of contacts for $60. Friendly staff, and lots of options! Highly recommended! read more
