I had 2 young kitties, a male and female-brother and sister, that I needed spay and neuter and standard shots. I called multiple places, and I opted for Options Veterinary Care. They are a non-profit vet clinic. If you have limited income but still need vet services, this is the place. They are low cost and very nice people. I dropped the kitties off very early in the morning and were able to pick them up late afternoon. The cost was reasonable compared to every other place in town. The SPCA and Human Society are not doing spay and neuter like they used to. Even in California, the cost of a spay and neuter is way cheaper than Reno. OPTIONS staff was friendly, and they took great care of my fur babies. Both cats had no trouble with the procedures. They are running and playing like nothing happened.

I phone in and tried to get an appointment, which I received for two weeks later. I arrived about 15 minutes early for the appointment and was shown to an exam room right away. Everyone that I dealt with was both friendly and professional. The vet was a straight shooter, meaning she told it like it is, not what it could be. She went into great details as to what was going on and the possible reasons why. She went into event more detail about how the medication would work and what the next steps could/would be. I absolutely appreciated the candid information, and would appreciate it if that doesn't change! We will be bringing our other pets in the future!

I adopted a cat from the vet there. But have not been as a customer... but from what I've seen it looks like a great facility.

I am so impressed with Dr. Meg! My Akita has always been afraid of the Vet even tho he goes there 1-2 times a year (he is 9 years old). My dog has always been very protective of me when we are in the exam room, (he basically sits on me) and wont leave my side. Dr. Meg was very patient with my dog when she did her exam and although my dog was very hesitant at first, by the end of the appointment, he was loving on Dr. Meg (no bribes/snacks were necessary). My dog has never been like this with new people, let a lone the Vet. Thank you, Dr. Meg! I look forward to bringing my dog to you for his future appointments.

I finally found a veterinary business that I feel comfortable with. They were even advertised on the morning news, because they are a not for profit. Luckily I found them on Yelp, when I was desperately trying to get my two in for kennel cough.. Today was just a first visit, but also wanted to have them look at their teeth for cleaning. Momo had his teeth cleaned once at his regular vet. They actually fly in a hygienist, and with no anesthesia. Today I learned many new things! Both of them have great teeth but Momo has tartar built up. The vet called after examining them, and said to wait a year or two, and to do daily maintenance, brushing their teeth, and switching to dry kibble. The more moist of food, more sticks to their teeth. Today's visit total fort both $58!! They gave a discount for a second pet!!! $38 for first one and only $20 for the second. Glad we came! Also will try the Science Diet T & D.. dog food (teeth & dental)..and brushing their teeth! Thank you Options!

After visiting many veterinarians over the years, this is hands‑down one of the best places I will ever take my small dog. Our Bichon Frise, Aspen, came to us almost a year ago from a horrific puppy mill, and today was his very first anesthesia dental cleaning. I'm a huge fan of Dr. Karen Shaw Becker and her book The Forever Dog, and after reading her sobering statistic--"By age 3, 80% of dogs have periodontal disease, most of it below the gumline where bone loss, abscesses, and tumors go undetected"--I knew I had to get his teeth taken care of right away. From the very first visit, I was impressed. Parking is easy, the location is simple to find, and Dr. Sharon Dose personally handles everything from answering phones and booking appointments to performing thorough exams. She provided clear estimates without me having to ask (unlike many other vets in town), and she even took the time to show me exactly how to brush Aspen's teeth properly at home. No other vet has ever done that. The day of the procedure (early Sunday morning), their thoughtfulness truly shone. We received clear pre‑op instructions, a straightforward bill breakdown, detailed emails before pickup, a phone call with updates, and even a look at the decaying tooth they removed. Everything was handled with skill, excellent time management, professionalism, and genuine care. Their passion for keeping pets' teeth healthy is obvious. We're deeply grateful for the tooth extraction and the thorough cleaning. Aspen's teeth are now sparkly white, his breath smells so much better, and--most importantly--we know he was in the best hands possible. Their honesty, knowledge, and non‑predatory pricing make them absolute gems in the Reno/Tahoe community. I truly wish more people operated with their level of integrity and heart. If you have a small dog, do yourself a favor and go see them. You won't find a more hardworking, caring, or trustworthy team. Highly recommend for your fur babies!

The original Vet Dr. Hatch used to occupy and own this property before he retired. Anyway since our last Vet retired from seeing patients to work solely in emergency care we needed to find someone new. I give a 2 star rating since the gal at the front desk and the assistant were both lovely girls and know how to treat customers. Sawyers ears were very dirty so the doctor wanted to take a look but alas the other doctor was gone and took the tool with her and asked if I would consider leaving my dog there for 2 hours to waits for the other doctor to reappear. Ummm that would be a hard No. I was surprised that they even asked me that. I don't know any of you! Seriously?!? The reason for todays visit was my dog had a red rash in his nether regions and I was beginning to worry since I first noticed it 2 days ago. My appointment was at 2:30 and that is when I arrived. Like I mentioned the first assistant asked a bunch of questions about Sawyer most of which would have been on the sheet I brought with me all about his last treatment, shots, ect. She mentioned she might want to do $250.00 worth of blood work, um that's a hard no. The initial visit was $75 and then another $50 for I don't know why... The doctor said she had no idea what the rash was and thought maybe it was a bacterial infection....Really?

Our dog was misdiagnosed, but we're not gonna talk about them. I want to say we were referred to Desert Hills by several people, including some of our friends I checked out the reviews and they normally average a five star review. They did not disappoint. We had an appointment today for our sick puppy. Who's been sick now about 15 days. We were greeted by Trinity the doctors, assistant, amazing and caring, compassionate. Then the doctor came in they worked with dodger took her temperature. Did some other test. Dr. Murray was so thorough so caring and compassionate as well. She gave us some options. They did a panel which we should get back in a few days she most likely has pneumonia. She's now on meds everything about Desert Hills was above and beyond the care from everyone the cleanliness the friendliness we are so happy we have found them and we are so thankful that we now have a new veterinarian. We highly recommend them thank you so much. We feel so much better because of you.

For a long time I truly loved this clinic. The staff used to feel very welcoming, attentive, and personal, and you genuinely felt cared for when you walked in. I'm really sad to write this review because I normally don't leave negative reviews, but after giving the clinic several chances I felt it was important to share my experience. The clinic seems much busier now, and while I understand that is a sign of a successful business and I support that, it has started to feel like they may be taking on more than they can handle, and that change is noticeable in the overall clinic experience. Most recently I called because my dog's paw was swollen. Since there were no appointments available, I was told I could drop her off in the morning and they would try to fit her in. I waited about 2.5 hours for a call back and received very little guidance beyond confirming that her paw was swollen. The conversation quickly shifted to recommending x rays on both paws along with other items like vaccines and tests that didn't seem directly related to the reason I brought her in. I also asked about switching her dog food due to past urinary issues and never received clear guidance on that. It left me feeling like the focus was more on adding charges rather than helping me understand what was best for my dog, and this has been my experience the past 3-4 visits. This clinic used to be a place I trusted deeply, which is why this is so disappointing. I'm only sharing this in hopes that the team might bring back some of the personal care and attention that once made this place feel so special.

There were times it was hard to get a hold of the desk to make an appointment or ask a question, but I started to have better luck with emailing in vs calling...almost always a prompt response. Wait times during appointments could also get long, but it's understandable with a smaller hospital like theirs. I knew they always had my baby's best interest at heart and provided the best care for him they could, which makes up for any delays we experienced. They gave me a lovely card and nose and paw prints after we had to say goodbye to my little boy. I will always remember their kindness during that time and recommend bringing your babies here, too.

They said he did fine coming out of the anesthesia. My husband got home and the dog was panting. We chalked it up to the dog may have had some anesthesia in his system. He was this way all night. We took him back on Friday and he was in the same condition with a temperature of 106. Our Newfie was there for a few hours and then sent home on Friday. On Saturday we had to rush him to the emergency vet and he had to be put down because he was much worse. THE DOG NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED TO US WITH HOW BAD HIS BREATHING WAS. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN REFERRED TO AN OVERNIGHT VET HOSPITAL ON THURSDAY! When he was taken in, based on the notes, he was given oxygen and was breathing more normally. This did not last. After consulting others, we are being told that something definitely went wrong with the anesthesia. We should have been told that our dog needed to be admitted overnight to an emergency vet for over night monitoring instead of being released to us. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED, OUR DOG MIGHT STILL BE WITH US!
