9/16/2025- Last night the furrbabies had two treats as they were roughhousing while we were watching tv.. Unfortunately, the princess had the treat go down the wrong way.. She ended up coughing all night- Our boy dog was getting so stressed out ... Needless to say no one in the house had very much sleep. Glad we found an urgent care nearby.. and was still open.. Estimate would be expected for an urgent care facility-.. but decided to just get the medication of a steroid and doxycycline -.. No extensive testing- Vitals were normal and not kennel cough-.. Hoping for a peaceful night and peace of mind..

When my Frenchie hurt himself and was clearly in pain, my heart sank. My regular vet couldn't see him for another week, and I was feeling panicked. I'm so thankful I found Peak! From the moment we walked in, they treated him like their own, getting us in right away and caring for him with such compassion and professionalism. In such a scary moment, they gave me peace of mind and helped my sweet boy feel better. I can't thank them enough -- 10/10 recommend to anyone who loves their pet like family.

Traveled over a hour to get to this vet. I felt that the nurse and the dr just wanted to make me spend lots of money. Terms like tap your bank account and what does your heart tell you to do we're used on me. I spent $200 on nothing to tell me my cat will die and I need to humanly kill him for $900! Kept trying to push this agenda of killing my cat. It's not ok and I don't care how many times they said they felt bad. I don't believe it. I lost my mother recently and this was not good bedside manner. Definitely these people should take some training in how to treat people in tough situations. I will not change my review. I am not alright with this veterinary I feel they are money hungry and not helpful towards saving lives. They couldn't even give my cat fluids I paid for. Like that's what they are trained to do. I paid for them to look at my vat the vet didn't even touch him. I took my cat home with the fluids and anti nausea, cried the whole way back and I am nursing him myself. Keep having him drink water. I Couldn't give him the fluids because duh I'm not a NURSE OR A VET TECH! I am not comfortable doing something that you should be trained to do. To use manipulation of someone's emotional state to get money is not ok. Saying to me what do you feel in your heart and we don't want to tap your bank account is disgusting. They couldn't do blood test or X-rays it was $900. Not financially safe for the community. I'm from California and the vet there would never gouge prices on the community. I am so disappointed and I will never go back and I recommend no one going here.

Peak Pet exceeded our expectations in providing urgent care for our 4 year old Bully, Kiba, after his condition worsened outside our regular vet's operating hours. Their efficiency, attentive listening, and high-quality care alleviated our concerns, and the staff demonstrated remarkable compassion and generosity. Your dedication to supporting pets in need is truly valued. Thank you so much, Dr. Pruyn, Grace, and staff at Peak Pet Urgent Care! - Luis & Azelia (and Kiba of course)

Everyone was very professional and friendly. Dr. Luchetti was awesome. He saw my dog for urgent care as my dog was limping on her right front paw. To make an appointment you have to go online and book the time you want to go and instead of you waiting in the parking lot or the lobby for a very long time, the website asks you your estimated travel time (accounting for traffic of course) and they will call you or text you to head on to their office. Such a very innovative system! Most of all, they were very loving towards my vocal dog and they worked around her being loud and obnoxious. It's like as if they know her temperament already having just met her that day. Needless to say, they took really good care of her and we were sent home with some pain meds and specific instructions. Hoping that my dog won't need urgent care in the future but if she does, I will not be going anywhere else but Peak Pet! Worth the drive from North Valleys.

After visiting many veterinarians over the years, this is hands‑down one of the best places I will ever take my small dog. Our Bichon Frise, Aspen, came to us almost a year ago from a horrific puppy mill, and today was his very first anesthesia dental cleaning. I'm a huge fan of Dr. Karen Shaw Becker and her book The Forever Dog, and after reading her sobering statistic--"By age 3, 80% of dogs have periodontal disease, most of it below the gumline where bone loss, abscesses, and tumors go undetected"--I knew I had to get his teeth taken care of right away. From the very first visit, I was impressed. Parking is easy, the location is simple to find, and Dr. Sharon Dose personally handles everything from answering phones and booking appointments to performing thorough exams. She provided clear estimates without me having to ask (unlike many other vets in town), and she even took the time to show me exactly how to brush Aspen's teeth properly at home. No other vet has ever done that. The day of the procedure (early Sunday morning), their thoughtfulness truly shone. We received clear pre‑op instructions, a straightforward bill breakdown, detailed emails before pickup, a phone call with updates, and even a look at the decaying tooth they removed. Everything was handled with skill, excellent time management, professionalism, and genuine care. Their passion for keeping pets' teeth healthy is obvious. We're deeply grateful for the tooth extraction and the thorough cleaning. Aspen's teeth are now sparkly white, his breath smells so much better, and--most importantly--we know he was in the best hands possible. Their honesty, knowledge, and non‑predatory pricing make them absolute gems in the Reno/Tahoe community. I truly wish more people operated with their level of integrity and heart. If you have a small dog, do yourself a favor and go see them. You won't find a more hardworking, caring, or trustworthy team. Highly recommend for your fur babies!

The original Vet Dr. Hatch used to occupy and own this property before he retired. Anyway since our last Vet retired from seeing patients to work solely in emergency care we needed to find someone new. I give a 2 star rating since the gal at the front desk and the assistant were both lovely girls and know how to treat customers. Sawyers ears were very dirty so the doctor wanted to take a look but alas the other doctor was gone and took the tool with her and asked if I would consider leaving my dog there for 2 hours to waits for the other doctor to reappear. Ummm that would be a hard No. I was surprised that they even asked me that. I don't know any of you! Seriously?!? The reason for todays visit was my dog had a red rash in his nether regions and I was beginning to worry since I first noticed it 2 days ago. My appointment was at 2:30 and that is when I arrived. Like I mentioned the first assistant asked a bunch of questions about Sawyer most of which would have been on the sheet I brought with me all about his last treatment, shots, ect. She mentioned she might want to do $250.00 worth of blood work, um that's a hard no. The initial visit was $75 and then another $50 for I don't know why... Our dog was misdiagnosed, but we're not gonna talk about them. I want to say we were referred to Desert Hills by several people, including some of our friends I checked out the reviews and they normally average a five star review. They did not disappoint. Then the doctor came in they worked with dodger took her temperature. Did some other test. Dr. Murray was so thorough so caring and compassionate as well. She gave us some options. For a long time I truly loved this clinic. The staff used to feel very welcoming, attentive, and personal, and you genuinely felt cared for when you walked in. I'm really sad to write this review because I normally don't leave negative reviews, but after giving the clinic several chances I felt it was important to share my experience. The clinic seems much busier now, and while I understand that is a sign of a successful business and I support that, it has started to feel like they may be taking on more than they can handle, and that change is noticeable in the overall clinic experience. Most recently I called because my dog's paw was swollen. Since there were no appointments available, I was told I could drop her off in the morning and they would try to fit her in. I waited about 2.5 hours for a call back and received very little guidance beyond confirming that her paw was swollen. The conversation quickly shifted to recommending x rays on both paws along with other items like vaccines and tests that didn't seem directly related to the reason I brought her in. I also asked about switching her dog food due to past urinary issues and never received clear guidance on that. It left me feeling like the focus was more on adding charges rather than helping me understand what was best for my dog, and this has been my experience the past 3-4 visits. This clinic used to be a place I trusted deeply, which is why this is so disappointing. I'm only sharing this in hopes that the team might bring back some of the personal care and attention that once made this place feel so special.
