My dad is a first generation Chinese immigrant and he loves to come here. The doctors are all very caring and spend a good amount of time helping patients. Shout out to Nurse Megan specifically for always being attentive and patient. The hospital staff handling reception and backend things are majority Chinese so yes, they know what they're doing, very competent at their jobs....but don't expect Western warm service lol! But they're always on top of the paperwork, attentive to details, and gives great resources for the needy. That's what's most important! Thank you ICHS!

I signed up for Apple Health (Medicaid) in October 2021 and was assigned this ICHS location for my primary health care provider (dental and medical). I called to schedule my first dentist appointment in mid-December 2021 and came in for my first general exam in January 2022. I followed up with two filling appointments in February, getting one filling on the first visit and two fillings on the second visit. In March, I had a teeth cleaning appointment. All of the workers I interacted with on the phone and in-person were kind and helpful. They listened to what I had to say when they asked me questions and they did a good job explaining things clearly. I am scheduled to go back in mid-July for another general exam, I have had a bit of an uneven bite since I got the fillings. However, the fillings themselves have been good, nothing popping out or anything like that. The free swag has also been on point during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have received a number of masks and at-home test kits free of charge. Double masking (two masks) was required for a couple of my appointments, however that was not a problem as they provided the second mask.

I am beyond frustrated. I have been seeing this doctor for a couple of years, and she's pretty…read moregood, except perhaps too "conventional medicine" for my taste, but it has become INCREASINGLY IMPOSSIBLE to contact her or make appointments since she is in the UW Medicine system. Forget the phone number, it goes to their main line which handles everyone in the wider Seattle area, and minimal waiting time is at least half an hour (usually longer), during which time you have to listen to annyoing recorded commercials about UW services. If you are lucky enough to get through and don't hang up beforehand, the person answering has zero knowledge (or interest) in you as a patient, asks you to re-state all the information they already have-a dozen times, puts you on hold, then says they have to contact the practice and someone will get back to you. Impossible to make or re-schedule most appointments on the portal. Heaven forbid you have a medical condition; that appointment is at least three months out. UW, apparently, has ZERO regard for your time (or your medical problem) and both pale in comparison to them minimizing their costs and mazimizing their profits. I honestly don't know how they stay in business, other than that there might be few other options available. Given this, the best doctor in the world would be brought down in terms of any ratings, because if it's so frustrating to contact them or make/book/change appointments, of course you are going to go elsewhere. Which is, in fact, what I am about to do, and would recommend to anyone reading this as well.

The brilliant Dr. Verrilli was my primary care physician for over 20 years--not in Shoreline for…read moremost of the time though. He was at Minor and James in Seattle for a good long while before a shakeup at Swedish caused many of the best doctors to seek other options. Dr. Verrilli helped me with every imaginable problem, from car accident injuries, to the pneumonia I got annually for the last decade of my teaching career, and when necessary, he also sent me to some outstanding specialists. But the thing I credit him with most of all was diagnosing and developing a plan when my husband showed up in his office in March 2004 complaining of stomach pains and weight loss. Some guys would've handed him a few antacids and sent him on home, but Dr. Verrilli ordered blood work, endoscopy, colonoscopy all stat. Sure enough, it turned out to be stomach cancer. It was a rough period, but my guy recovered because of the attention he gave to my spouse's case and the diligence with which he checked in on him in the hospital, even though we had the oncologist (best in the city, again thanks to Dr. V), the surgeon, and a host of others. When the ball got dropped at one point by hospital staff that hadn't started an IV after several hours, Dr. Verrilli raised holy hell (fairly politely) and made sure treatment was provided promptly and correctly. I genuinely think we owe my husband's life to this talented, caring physician. Things to know: on your first visit, he's going to whip through a list of routine but necessary questions. He does this quickly, not because he has no patience, but because he wants it out of the way so that most of your appointment time can be used for whatever it is you came in for. When in doubt, he orders tests. He explains everything, and if you miss something, ask and he'll explain it again, differently if necessary. He works fast while he's in there with you, and that's why you are getting seen promptly, or very close to it. He wants to deal with your concern within your allotted time so that the person after you gets seen promptly, too. He is almost the only doctor out of the dozens I have seen in my many years in Seattle that will apologize if you have had to sit for an unplanned ten minutes waiting for him to come in and examine you. The guy has integrity. During times when one or the other of us was pretty sick but not hospitalized, he would either have someone on his staff call to check on us at home, or he would pick up the phone and do it himself. We would still be seeing Dr. V, even though it now means a drive from South Seattle clear up to freaking Shoreline, but our employment changed and now we have to use Kaiser Permanente doctors, which Dr. Verrilli is not. But you just cannot find a more conscientious and knowledgeable doctor anywhere. Highly recommended.
