I typically go to Schlesinger's, but my boyfriend decided to try Opus 9 and we are regretful that we did. The seafood bisque was delicious, unfortunately I can't say the same about the steaks. He ordered the Porterhouse and I ordered a Filet. We both ordered our steaks medium temperature and they were both over cooked. I sent mine back, but he did not due to the fact that he doesn't like any type of conflict. His steak was very bland on top of being nearly well done. It took them forever to bring my new steak back out, so by time they brought it out, I was already over it, so I just had it boxed up to go. Salad Nicoise with Ahi Tuna. Ahi Tuna was served like a flat pancake, No seasoning, no taste. Fresh green beans were missing from the dish. Three green olives with pimento was displayed on the plate along with three grape tomatoes slice in half. One of my friends had the shrimp tacos. Shrimp was overdone and very salty. We had Christmas Eve Dinner here and it wasn't the best food but the service was phenomenal. I was in a party of four and out of everyone's meal, my Chilean Sea Bass was the best. We finally tried Opus 9 last week for date night - oh boy what a treat! We had the peppered scallops appetizer, they were very good. I had the seafood trio for dinner and it did not disappoint, even the little salad on the plate was tasty. It was so much food I couldn't finish the crab cake. I had the garlic mashed for my side, I enjoyed them. The tiramisu for dessert was excellent, the sauce was a nice addition. We will definitely be back. read more

Wow! This place is a gem! I was very impressed with the ambiance as well as the service at Opus 9. They have a full bar, a piano plays top 40s popular music and the team here is top notch! I had the catfish with mashed sweet potatoes and garlic green beans. I also ordered a Ruby Red Cosmo because...well who cares why, I wanted a drink drink! Everything was excellent! The catfish was expertly prepared and that's no exaggeration! It was perfectly crisp on the outside and deliciously flaky on the inside. The mashed sweet potatoes and garlic green beans were also wonderful. I had a couple of the dinner rolls with the whipped honey butter to round out my meal too. As I said before, everything was EXCELLENT! The best part of the meal was the price. I ordered from the 10 for $10 menu. The bill for 6 people was just under $100 before gratuity! Parking was no problem right next to the restaurant and the area seems very safe to take a post dinner stroll. Hostess was able to seat us immediately at our reservation time. I had emailed ahead of time to make sure we were allowed to bring a special bottle of wine and that was no issue at all. Cody was absolutely amazing! He provided the most fantastic service. We would 110% return just for that level of service again. The dinner starts off with whipped butter pipped freshly at the table. We ordered the fried calamari, seafood soup, NY strip steak, and the boneless ribeye. The sides were the blistered garlic potatoes, potatoes au gratin, creamed spinach, and enjoyed a little extra bernaise for the steak. Everything was cooked well. The small details really wowed is. The lemon had its own cloth so seeds wouldn't fall into the food. The remoulade made a good pairing with the calamari and provided the dish sweetness. Cody had the soup split into 2 smaller bowls which was fantastic since we had said we planned to share. The seafood soup was extremely rich. It almost felt like we were sipping seafood butter. It was wonderful. The steak come in bubbling hot and finished with butter which has the most intoxicating smell. The butter hitting the hot steak has this sweet brown butter smell. We were advised to cut into the steaks to check if the temperature was to our liking. Steaks were perfect medium. I thought the crust on my steak was a bit aggressive, but went well with the bernaise (you can order your steak blackened, but I had not asked for it prepped that way). The appetizers really made the steaks a challenge to finish, so we elected to take quite a bit of the steaks home. Cody quickly bussed the table and gave us a bag of our unfinished steak and sides. He was very thoughtful and took our picture to remember the amazing dinner. So this past weekend, my Grubbing Buddy and I decided to visit Williamsburg, Virginia, to meet with friends and enjoy some good grubbing nourishment. We normally go to Williamsburg for breakfast or brunch, but this time we met our Grubbing Buddies for an early lunch. My last visit to Williamsburg did not go so well. There were a few unpleasant mishaps, but we knew this trip would be fine. Our friends decided on Opus 9 Steakhouse for an early lunch. I have been here several times and each time was quite satisfying. Our Grubbing Buddies started their meals out with bowls of delicious seafood bisque soup. I chose an appetizer to share with my Buddy: New Orleans-style barbecue shrimp. While it did not look like what I was used to, it did look incredible. Consisting of six scrumptious-looking peeled shrimp with tails on and heads off atop toasted bread floating in what appeared to be butter-cream soup with a rosemary sprig sticking out the center., it was quite enjoyable. My partner's meal was a well-stuffed shrimp as the protein, while I had a tasty medium-rare Beethoven Burger with all the fixings. We were not at all caught off guard by the high cost for our meal. After all, we've been to Opus 9 before and knew that it was a high-end restaurant. I went here for lunch and we order the steak (not pictured, sorry) and crab cake sandwich with bbq shrimp as an appetizer. The shrimp was nothing like I expected but was delicious and tasted very fresh. The steak was out of this world and full of flavor! A must try! The crab cake sandwich was pretty bad in all honesty. It was wet to the touch and served in an almost stale sesame bun- the fries we great though. I have to thank the manager for promptly taking my plate back and providing me with the delicious Thai spinach salad with grilled chicken. Outstanding service and food! This is fine dining so prepare to pay a lot. The cowboy ribeye with fois gras was perfectly cooked and amazing flavor. Took off 1 star because my daughter asked for medium and our server convinced her to change it to medium well. She requested that her steak to be pink in the center but her filet mignon came out well done (zero pink). Her steak was tough, well done and she was disappointed but didn't want to cause a fuss. We were on vacation here for a couple days and decided to eat the Sunday brunch here. WOW! This place is high class! Plenty of parking as it's in a stripe mall kinda atmosphere. Once entering we were greeted promptly and seat quickly. We did have reservations, highly recommend it. Our waitress greeted us promptly and got our drink orders. Brought us plates to get started on the buffet. The buffet was to die for...literally!! Any and everything you can think of was on this buffet even prime rib. The French Onion soup was bursting with flavor and my husband's ribeye was cooked to perfection. For my entree I selected the Seafood Trio and I was very pleased with with freshness of the seafood. We were stuck in a nightmare; Trying to find a decent restaurant on a Friday afternoon in Williamsburg during the Summer. Big mistake, hit several "nice" restaurants and the fifth one we tried was Opus 9. I had low expectations of success finding a restaurant with less then an hour wait, but Opus 9 took us in right away. We had to sit at the bar, but we still received GREAT friendly service from the bartender and the rest of the staff. The food and the ambiance were good, and the pace was not rushed or impartial. I have to admit that having wine by the draught, where you can easily refill a glass or a carafe, is a great service. For all of this, we paid a PREMIUM price. My sole complaint is that the cost of the food was a bit high (over $75/person), but for the ability to enjoy a good dinner without waiting in the sun for a table the value is pretty good. read more

OMGeeee was so tender and flavorful. It was the very best steak you will ever have! They really pride themselves in their quality of steak. They also have Wagyu steak if you ever want to try that. It's hard to find a restaurant that's serves that type of beef. The crab cake had little to no fillers. Even the veggies were cooked al dente, just how I like it and seasoned well. I tried out the banana foster cheesecake and it was truly a show. They come over and light up the dessert to give it the flambé effect! Cheesecake was moist. While doing some wknd shopping at the outlet mall I ran across this steakhouse. I originally wanted to attend the jazz brunch but I missed it so I decided to return for lunch. I enjoyed this place a lot. It has all the frills of a top notch 5star place but with a down home feel. I had the sea bass which was suggested by the waiter over the salmon and I was not disappointed it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. All the seafood trio was an experience. This is a good 4 star place. Really good dishes with some just "good" dishes. This place looks and acts fancy with service you would find at a luxurious high end steakhouse. My wife thought it was a little too salty but I thought it was outstanding. The steaks. I'll put this under "good" because it fits. It was good. Not great. I had the Cowboy Bone in Ribeye as did one other at the dinner. Cooked perfectly. Tender. Tasty. Some cartridge was cooked so it was rough in a couple places. You know, the white stringy stuff that connects meat to meat. But overall very nice. My wife had the filet and really enjoyed it. No complaints. The "OK": the sides. I had the baked potato and the other two had cheesy potatoes. Mine was fine. Hard to mess up a baked potato. The skin was a little tough though. Hard to break into. The cheesy potatoes were cold and needed flavor. They were just kind of bland and not hot. Needed salt, pepper, and maybe something else. But anyway, good overall. Great service and atmosphere. Darrick, our server for the evening, was a charming, good looking older gentleman with a medium dark tan. What I remember most was that the neighoring table included what looked to be retired elder women drooling over him with googly eyes every time he came by (lol). We started with rolls and crunchy crispbreads spread with a deliciously sinful specially house whipped honey butter. The steak and seafood combo presented itself on an extremely hot plate; so hot that the butter and juices on the plate sizzled. No steak sauce needed. Seafood sampler - perfectly cooked shrimps, scallops and fish. Dessert: tried the chocolate cake and cheesecake. I did not like the chocolate as much as it was highly rich, deep and decedent. I loved the cheesecake as it had the cake-like crust and medium thick cheesecake body. Finished off the meal with press coffee that wrapped the impressive night with a bow. Just tried to make a dinner reservation for a group of 10 seniors who dine monthly at different restaurants in the local area. We are five couples. The manager said we would have to pay for the group (who obviously order different priced items) with one check. Then the manager said we could split the check using two different credit cards. This is not acceptable for in reality it would just be five separate checks since we are couples! No compromise by Opus Nine. They just lost about $750 or more of our business. If you have a large group of friends who want to gather, find a restaurant that would welcome your business. read more

Went with six people for dinner. All the dishes were very good. Several people had the hanger steak, which was delicious. Others had the bistro steak and enjoyed it. Desserts were good except we didn't like the chocolate tort. It was too dry. Maybe it should've been served ala mode to help moisten it. Would recommend this place even if it's pricey. read more
