I came out to see a DJ friend perform (she sings too, and she's incredible), alongside another longtime LA musician I first saw back in 2018. It ended up being the perfect venue for a night of live local talent--intimate, moody, and full of character. The back room where the artists play? I was obsessed. The paint peeling from the burgundy ceiling and deep red walls in that perfectly imperfect way that tells you this place has history. Wallpaper panels edging the ceiling, cozy café tables mixed with booth-style benches and chaise lounge seating--it felt like an artsy little hideaway where musicians can actually breathe and audiences can really listen. Warm lighting, sexy shadows, and even a tiny bar tucked in back for busy nights. I loved the whole atmosphere. Up front, the full bar is its own vibe--neighborhood-bar energy but with cocktails that taste elevated. I had a Moscow Mule and a Cucumber Gimlet, and both were excellent. The fact that they only use fresh, organic fruit and juice really comes through. Crisp, bright, clean flavors. One of the worst experiences I've had at a bar. I accidentally touched an orange that was sitting on the bar. As soon as I realized it might have been a mistake, I immediately apologized multiple times and took full responsibility. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the bartender and the security guard Brian became extremely aggressive and confrontational. Brian spoke to me in a disrespectful and insulting manner, and the entire situation escalated for no reason. Despite my repeated apologies and calm attitude, I was treated like a criminal and eventually removed from the venue over something that could have been resolved with a simple conversation. The issue was never the orange. The issue was how Brian and the bartender chose to treat a customer who was being respectful and apologetic. Their behavior seemed completely unprofessional, emotionally unstable, and far out of proportion to what actually happened. I will not be returning and would not recommend this place to anyone expecting basic respect from staff. read more

Came here on Sunday to see a burlesque show and had a wonderful time! Everyone was so sweet and they truly make some of the best drinks here! I am definitely obsessed with their coffee martini that I was thinking of it long afterwards. It's such a dreamy decadent drink and the bartenders do a great job of making it well balanced. I love the space both the front and the back comedy room and they do a great job with the seating so you can see the show no matter where you're at. The seating is so comfy. Pretty good DJ on a Saturday, full back room by I wanna say 10pm. I went alone. You can either make friends or not but no bad vibes detected here. There's room for you to mope on the couch and just creep on everyone else dancing if you feel too uncool to make moves. Manager was kind enough to watch out for my stuff. Cocktails and drinks are $15 or so each, which I think is pretty standard nowadays. The back of the restaurant doubles as a dance floor and an event room for comedy shows. The drink menu is extensive, and the premium vodka selection does not disappoint. My favorite drink is the French 75. But I think my favorite part of Bar Lubitsch is the amazing music on weekends (although they can do better than Roxy...) and the friendly service. However, a group of friends and I just went, we exited because a friend needed some air so we walked around the block to smoke a cig, when we exited the manager asked us what we were doing and I said "getting jackets" to make things simple. My first experience here never ended up happening because the doorman singled me out of my group as soon as we got out of the Uber for throwing away a bottle we were pregaming with. If that's a problem, then idk how they expect to stay in business. Fast forward a few months and I ended up going there with friends this past weekend. I had a decent night but it wasn't until a few days later when my friend told me to check my credit card statements bc he claimed he was overcharged. Upon review, I noticed that I was indeed overcharged as well. The same bartender Emily B went ahead and charged me $16.00 for my $7.00 beer. I definitely made sure to tip her each time I got a drink but there's no way in hell I'm giving over 100% tip for cracking a beer open for me.. Came here for the comedy show on Friday night and loved it! The stage is located in the back of the bar, with a nice intimate setting that fills up fast. They had 8 different comedians perform for about 15 minutes each. It was great! Each comedian had their own style, which kept the night entertaining. They were all great and had me laughing throughout the night. I was even surprised to know one of the comedians from the podcast Lady to Lady! Drinks were cheap and the atmosphere was welcoming and fun. Made you feel like you were back in time with it's old Russian bar theme. Definitely come check out the Jetpack comedy show! Now for the comedy show event. I went for it because I'm in love with Fizza but show was a different story , worst vibe ever it was $20 entry fee for 5 non funny comedians I had to walk out on the main act on the end , that's how bad it was.
