The experience with Orange County Restoration is very bad. I had water damage in November. The old dishwasher was leaking, and it had been leaking for a long time, since the whole toe kick area in the kitchen is rotten. When my property manager helped me to contact Orange County Restoration Services, they came very quickly. After taking a brief look, they misled me into believing that it is highly likely the insurance company can cover the loss, and they can help to prepare the materials needed by the insurance company. I didn't have much experience with this; I believed them and signed the contract. After signing the contract, they started working in my house. However, when I had questions, especially questions about insurance, it was hard to find anyone to give me answers. After leaving messages and complaining about this, the feedback was that they were working on a large commercial loss and had no time to get back to me. Based on the contract, they would help to demolish the rotten area and set up the dry equipment for 7 days. However, when I stopped by the house about 2 weeks later, I noticed that the kitchen area was still wet. Also, according to the contract, supposedly, they need to give me written notice that the work has been done, but so far, I haven't received any formal notice, even though my credit card has already been charged with the full amount. So, what I experienced is that they only care about how to maximize the gain from others' loss, instead of trying to minimize their loss. ------------------------ It was not about feeling misled by the "insurance process" but by the information provided about the likelihood of being covered by insurance at the beginning. Also, it was not about feeling frustrated when insurance denies a claim.  My overall feeling is that I was misled into signing the contract; after signing, no one seemed to care about me. No one told me where the leak was, no one showed me the drying effect, and no one told me that the work had been done. That's really bad. read more

My husband and I recently had a leak from a pipe connecting the water heater and washing machine, where it damaged the dry wall/insulation/floor in the closet and inside our home. Being new home owners, we google searched restoration companies and found Orange County Restoration Services (among other companies) who we called and quickly scheduled to have them come in and give us a quote. Jeff arrived for our appointment and the way he carried himself and handled our appointment was night and day compared to the others. He did his own evaluation and just sat with us to talk about our questions and concerns, and what the next steps forward would be if we chose his company. No one else really bothered to stay long enough to hear us out. We were sold just from that time alone. And of course, we moved forward and even got a team member out to help get the process started that night. Fast forward to just a few days and their team had begun demolition, working fast and efficient with pulling out all the damaged pieces within a day. The area was barricaded and covered with tarp, and the damaged wall/floors/insulation was hauled away to be disposed off. Everyday afterwards, they came by to do moisture checks and continued to answer our questions and concerns if they came up. OC Restore worked on my house about a year ago. There was one area that I was concerned about that they covered in plastic. Once I removed it there was still a mildewy smell coming from the wall after they had completed the restoration work. Jeff said he'd come out on a Saturday to look at it, which I appreciated. He sprayed an "enzymatic cleanser" around the area but I told him we needed to open up the wall. He said that would require ripping out my backsplash, which I said I was fine with. Especially since his team had already cracked my countertop and parts of the backsplash so it was going to have to be replaced anyway. He basically said it was no big deal and left. Well it's a year later and we tested it and mold is still in that area. I now have to rip out my new backsplash and do remediation again. There hasn't been any leaks or new issues in that area. It just wasn't dealt with properly the first time. If you have health issues I would not work with OC Restore because they do not do a thorough job. Also scheduling with them was really difficult. I was told they'd be done working on my house twice and I could move back in and both times they weren't done working. This was super frustrating because I had to find places to stay last minute. I'd call the office and they had no idea what the construction team was doing, and vice versa. Everyone was super nice though. Edit: Yes, I did do a clearance test. however OC Restore put plastic and tapped it to the wall, so the area still affected with mold was not included in the test. See the teal tape and plastic in the included pic. The wall cavity behind the backsplash was what I was concerned about. Jeff was aware of this area because he came out after the remediation was completed, which I appreciated, but he didn't think it was an issue even though it still smelled musty. Then I naively went through with the rebuild. Now I know that I need to remove all the plastic barriers a remediation company puts up before the clearance test because there still could be issues. read more

I had something growing out of my tile, and panicked thinking it was mold since our complex was recently re - piped and had water leak issues. We had somebody come out to do a free consultation and had a wonderful experience. They were here for under 5 minutes and reassured me that it was in fact not mold, and that there was no mold, but it was calcium and lime growing out of the natural stone that my floors are made out of. They did the consultation completely for FREE and even gave me a pack of girl scout cookies, and even explained to me how mold works and what it needs to grow, and how what we actually have growing was not toxic or dangerous at all.
