I have been a customer of this shop for around 25 years, today that ended. We have bought our bike(s) (my wife and I) and our 2 kids (starting with their tricycles) from this shop. The kids have been through at least 3 bikes each since they transitioned out of tricycle's. In total, we have probably bought more than 10+ bikes there We bought a new mountain bike about a month ago for my son, a Specialized MTB for his transition into HS and to ride to practice (he needed a full-size frame). The date after buying it the derailer wrapped about the gear set and jammed, we took it in and they blamed his used of the bike for this happening- the mechanic "bent" (using no proper alinement tools) it back into place and sent us on our way. 2.5 weeks later, this happens again this time destroying the derailer. We took the bike in and the guy gives us every reason why its our fault, and the quote was about $70 to fix a bike we had paid $600+ for a month ago. I was not looking for a freebie, but i felt that they should cover the labor and i buy the parts, the "manager" did take the time to understand or listen just said "whatever" and went to help someone else..... i explain that this problem happened the day after we bough the bike, and his response was "well, we fixed it for free then" when there is likely a issue to how it was set up or the fact the guy before just bent it back into place with a mallet (not using or taking the 5 minutes needed to use a alignment tool to do it right) The manager advised that doing anything was over his head, but the owner would back in the shop Tuesday after 1pm, and we could take it with him after that. He then went on to tell me that he is not likely to fix our bike until after we talk to the owner because he was afraid I would pay for the repairs!!!! We then took the bike with us, as I wasn't going to leave it there. Some people recommended a shop called "the Path" in Tustin, we then took the bike there. Upon arrival at "The Path" the first thing the mechanic did was pull out and alignment tool and confirm the issues the other shop failed to do. Our quote from this shop to get it fixed is a whopping $36... Big difference in the treatment between the 2 shops, the average bike price at the path was $2500 and up, so i was worried when we went in. But i am happy that it appears that we have found a new place to buy bikes and get our repairs done. Sad day, I've shopped at the Orange shop for about 25 years, but it appears the people they have running it when the owner is away don't carry the tradition. It very likely I will never return and make sure this story gets out. read more

Joe is very patient in explaining what bike suits me. The first bike I purchased was a dirt bike. Used it about 3 times but I need a much lighter bike. Went back to the store and asked Joe if I can trade in my bike to a road bike. Was able to trade it in to a much faster and lighter carbon fiber bike. Very happy with my purchase. read more

Joe and John took lots of time explaining the different bikes and all the options that we had (they have great inventory). We were able to take them on a test ride which was great! Vikki also gave us lots of info on the accessories that we needed. All were very professional, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. All in all, a great shopping experience! Came in 2 weeks ago and was helped by Joe looking for a new bike. He was very kind with his words, patient, and understanding of our background for getting into bikes. Adrian was a little too direct and was very impatient in trying times selling us a bike (there definitely was an attitude in his tone of voice). Came back a week ago after long thought to be helped by Juan and Kim. Juan took us up to the second floor and gave us a thorough run down for every type of bike. Kim gave us the test ride, and Armando fixed it up. Still needed some thought. Finally came back a couple of days ago to get a bike for a birthday gift, with John and Joe making sure we got the best deal possible. Just wanted to offer a "positive" yelp as I suspect people never forget to post a bad review for obvious reasons , but positive ones because it went well its easier to forget. I am not a avid bike rider, I am just trying to get some excercise as much as possible. Just had a simple flat rear tire. They took my bike in with a smile and answered my "novice" biker questions politely. Great experience overall, I had a 85.00 bill is all as well. These people are great service even if they may never see you again. I have no doubt "avid" riders might get more attention, But this NOVICE rider wont forget the good experience. read more

I went in looking for MT bikes for my wife and I and met Joe. He was awesome and explained the different models. It's been frustrating shopping at other shops with the restrictions of Covid-19 and only having the online shopping or curb side pick up. Joe spent a good amount of time with me and getting me comfortable with the new technology. Gentlemen in the front desk was so rude, worst customer service I have ever seen and that says a lot coming from someone like me who never really has anything to complain about. At first I really thought it might of just been me but after looking over the reviews I now know It was definitely not just me I will never return to this store and i would recommend anyone else to try looking for a bike elsewhere it seems like to me that the owners here are just ok with their employees treating their customers crappy based on what they look like (poor or rich). I ended up buying what I was looking for at bike alley down the street they where so nice and helpful there. If I could give them a 0 I would but 1 was the lowest I could give . HORRIBLE customer service!!!! They have a stop sign before entering and it says "wait to be assisted " respectfully I waited ... saw a few people walk out . Then a few people walked in without getting in line "to be assisted " so I looked in wondering Hello !? We need to be assisted. Some men in the front just stared at me . One of the workers talked to a some guys walking out didn't even look at me , great me nothing ! So I waited back in line ..... My 5 month old baby was getting fussy mind you it's the middle of the day and the sun is pretty hot. So I stand by the door again and ask Hey ! Do I just wait here!? And the men in the front responded with a blunt face yes just wait . I used to be a huge fan of Orange cycle all the bikes I own were purchased from there . But after today i will take my business else where . I was there to purchase a bike for my son it's his birthday! He was so bummed . This place absolutely rocks, from both a retail standpoint (lots of bikes and accessories) as well as from a repair standpoint. I had just gotten a bike a few months ago that I was having some mechanical issues with, so I stopped by one evening with the expectation that I'd have to return the next day to pick it up. Nope! They took the bike back, fixed it in 10 minutes, and the bill was under $20! As a new biker, I felt comfortable with these guys and the service provided. Stopped in to purchase a wheel set and fork for my old bike. All and I mean everyone at this shop were so kind and inviting. I Love a family run business. I dealt with Juan and Armando for the majority of the time, both are excellent at what they do, there were several other employees making sure I was taken care of as well. This is a very nice bike store! I will be in the market for a small women's bike soon and I'm glad I stopped here to get some ideas. They have a very big selection and they allow you to ride the bikes in their private parking lot to try them out. Check Orange cycle website then ride 13 miles to see the inventory I researched and they didn't have any of the shoes in my size let alone all the inventory I was looking at on their web site. When I approached the store I asked if I could charge my bike and the unhelpful rep said he wouldn't do that unless I had my own cord. After entering the door seeing about 4 sales reps walking around I was never greeted or asked if they could help me. I made my way to back of store where the shoes are and found one pair I was interested in but 4 sizes to big. There was no price so I brought to front counter and no one again asked if I needed help! Finally an older lady said she would help but didn't know the box with shoes was mine already and what I wanted with them. She finally found a price but much higher than the list. She didn't know the real price. Just don't bother goi g to this place. Not friendly at all and not the inventory listed on their website. Thanks for waiting my day! read more

I came into Orange Cyclery because I was having some issues with my road bike. Al was there and was awesome! He was able to diagnose and fix the issue in about 15 minutes. The shop is located south of the Orange Circle. Parking in that area can be a challenge but they have plenty of parking available for customers. I could not help but notice that they had a large inventory of bikes and a gazillion accessories. The store is clean - it's a bike store - and overall you can tell they specialize in all things bikes. I was very impressed with Al's professionalism and the store's overall customer service. Staff doesn't wear masks. Bikes with gears (non single speed) are upcharged 40% on the basic tuneup, thought I'd share as that is not mentioned on the website. I don't have the nicest bike in town but I do cycle hundreds of miles each year. I'm new to the Orange area and was hoping to find my go to bike shop. 2 minutes of labor it was 15 dollars and the environment was unwelcoming. I felt almost like the owner was getting angry at me for asking questions. I squeezed the brakes on my tireless quick release bike and after they said they needed to adjust my brake calipers for 15 bucks, I did the service, went home and found out that they pretty much push on the brake pad with a screw driver and that's it. The hardest part was removing the tires which I brought it in the shop for them already removed. Additionally, I walked in asking if they can show me how to reput in my quick release tires which doesn't take more than two minutes, and the older man referred to as the boss started getting upset. Had they donated two minutes for free to show me how to put on quick release tires, I would've brought my bike for regular servicing. Wanted to like this place as its almost an orange landmark, but I can find cheaper and more hospitable service elsewhere. read more

I went into Orange Cycle looking for a mountain bike. I had no clue what the difference between them was other than the pricing. So Adrian approached me and asked if I needed assistance. I told him I'm just looking to which his reply was do you know what you're looking to purchase. I stated "no clue, but my roommate has a Specialized" so he proceeded to show me the different types and brands. He took his time educating and explaining the difference between the different models. So after looking at the selections, I ended up test riding two Marin models. Long story short I was going to sleep on my decision but I got a good deal and being that Adrian was of great help and took his time with me I wanted him to get my sale. Everyone there is super friendly, nice and did a great job making my experience great. Shout out to Juan as well as he ended up delivering my bicycle to my home. Over the past five years, I've purchased four beach cruisers from Orange Cycle. * Nirve "Island Flower" ** Phat "Rumble 29er" (3-speed) *** Schwinn "Sierra 21" **** Electra "Coaster" Now, we all know that there are plenty of places to buy bikes around Orange County--from discount stores and franchises to specialty and privately-owned distributors--so it certainly behooves one to comparison shop. You first need to consider your options, though. As with other bicycles, low-, mid-, and high-quality beach cruisers are available; however, most people aren't familiar with the differences between what is low- and high-grade. If your main focus is cost, and your pockets aren't that deep, you may find Orange Cycle's prices a bit steep. In fact, I'm sure you will. But that's because they aren't in the market for selling low-quality merchandise, i.e. bikes primarily designed to be attractive. A low-quality, low-cost bike isn't a smooth ride. Consider the difference in mobility between the rental bikes you've seen and ridden at the beach and test riding one of the bikes at Orange Cycle. There's an obvious difference. You'll feel it. I have a trike that I use to putt around with my dog in the back, bought it at Orange Cycle. It needed maintenance for sure, I have not had a bike since I was a kid so I know nothing but rode it down with the dog to have it serviced. I had a brake that won't set and the chain, etc. So I went down midweek afternoon to avoid line, etc. There was one person in front of me that wanted to shop for new bike so they let him in. The guy that helped me [unfortunately did not get his name] told me they were too busy and that I would have to bring it back. The chain had finally given out on the way down, so I had had to walk it halfway there; not super easy on trike due to the wheels sticking out so far. I begged and started crying. He did fix the chain but told me that I would have to take it home, and call for an appointment. So imagine my surprise when I called to make my appointment and was told that I did not need one, that they are always busy but they don't need appointment. I was livid. What terrible customer service, turning me away for no reason, except maybe laziness. So today I went to go ride it over without an appointment ... and the right back tire is flat and there is leak so I can't inflate it; I assume it got damaged that day because I haven't ridden it since. Now I am more livid. So now, how am I supposed to get this thing down there? Doesn't fit in my car. Orange Cycle is definitely lacking customer service. There is no excuse; I have back issues, and it was painful to walk it down there, and now I have to do it again. I hope they comp the service or something because that guy was just being lazy and turned me away for no reason whatsoever. I don't believe I have a closer option to walk this thing to for service, or I would. read more

So after having purchased a roadie... a few weeks later I realized that I needed to verify my tire inflation. So I go and looked at my tires and guess what? They had some funky stem on the tube that didn't work with a traditional inflation nozzle. So I immediately went through my pumps 15 nozzle options and lo and behold not a single one of them was appropriate for inflating these tires. "THIS IS ANNOYING," was my immediate thought. So the next day while at work, I call up Orange Cycle as they are a short 5 minute drive from my office if that. I then blurt out when asked how they can help, how the heck am I supposed to inflate a roadie's tires since they have such a funky tire stem. The guy laugh's as I am sure this is a very common question and something that drives guys like me crazy. He immediately then tells me that they have an adapter piece for about $2 or $3 bucks (I cant remember the exact price right now argh!!!) Pro Tip: This place is located on the Western side of Glassell one block south of the Orange Circle. So when I get to the shop, I immediately ask for this wondrous adapter and a couple of the shop guys laugh. They were quite personable and gave me a couple of hints for how to use and store the adapter. They were quite helpful while trying to up sell me into some stuff that I had no need for. I always expect the up sell at an independent bike shop like this. Overall the customer Service for me was good. The price was in-line with all the other shops that I have been to and or inquired about pricing through. Overall I was pretty pleased with my minor purchase that has become an indispensible part of my biking kit. I will be back here at some point to browse through stuff when I am bored at lunch I am sure. read more

Their customer service is kind of lacking if your not In there to buy a new bike. I had some work done on some junkers I walked in and asked directly for 4 tubes and an install and the guy spent 20 minutes trying to sell me on the service I requested ‍ till I just raised my voice a little and said I want the tubes can we move to the next step . Then when I picked up the bikes the lady had to go over line by line of my purchases and when I said I thought I paid already she started talking with jabby pointed fingers sharply pointing at papers and being weird. So I started mimicking her actions like a child would and she apologized for being rude. Luckily the bike tech guy loves his job and seems to do great work. I went in for tubes and a seat and I got what I wanted for. Reasonable price even though the customer service was lacking I did come in with some garbage bikes that probably weren't super easy to work on so 5 stars anyways. read more

This family owned bike shop doesn't give me the warm & fuzzies like one would expect from a "family" owned business. It was not very welcoming, as I was not even acknowledged with a be right with you or head nod. It wasn't overly busy, and the employees still had time for some chatter. I got 3 heavy duty inner tubes installed on my stroller, a balance bike & a helmet. Upon check out, I learn that installation is $8 a tire $8x3.. I wasn't even informed there was an installation fee. I explain that I did not know there was a fee per tire, and he says you got charged $8 it's normally $10 you got a deal. I would've never agreed to installation charges, could've put those on ourselves. I'm super disappointed, and it's the owner who checked me out. I regret going forward with my purchase of bike & helmet. Would have loved to give my business to a shop who appreciates it. I will not be back. The One star is for Armando, he was helpful and his service was top notch. read more
