It came with no green onion/garnish, and chicken was somewhat dry despite having some glaze. My DoorDash driver fought to get my order from the owners but declined. I decided to call them and see if they understood my situation when they declined me! I've been going to this place for the past 20 years. The food has remained the same except for its servings. Original owner had to tape up the containers because they were so full. Fantastic doesn't say enough for this storefront that is super clean and has incredible service. As I walked in I was greeted with a smile and I ordered the tempura plate. I had initially asked about a beef and tempura combo but just went with the tempura plate. When she delivered my plate to my table she also gave me a little sample size plate of the beef which was way over the top good. I'll be back FOR SURE! Chicken teriyaki was great!!!, The salad on the plate was bland, with some kind of dressing that tasted like store brand Italian. Crunch roll was pretty standard, but the real disappointment was the ramen.... The menu didn't have much detail and I could not find a photo of it so I took a chance and ordered the ramen with chicken (I don't trust pork from a place I don't know). I don't want to disrespect the chef but this looked, smelled and tasted awful. The vegetables taste like freezer burn, there was one big chunk of hard egg yolk, some parts of a chicken that appeared to be the leftovers that were "re-boiled" (if that is a thing). If you crave ramen, go somewhere else, if teriyaki chicken is what you want.... Order it here!!! Gunn is usually there in the evenings (they close at 8:30 pm) and he's such a warm and entertaining guy who makes you feel welcome every time you come. Time for a major update. Orange House has new owners as of summer 2018. They are a great mother and son combo who offer great food, good prices and friendly service. We find ourselves coming here almost every week. Restaurant: Inside it is not too big, but there is plenty of seating. On one of the walls there is a bunch of art pieces that were drawn by the owners son. It is also nicely kept inside. Food: My go to: Combo Plate (beef, chicken, rice, salad, 2 pieces of tempura crab, orange slice. It is a good amount of food, and only about $1 more than ordering a bowl. The beef is super good here, something about the seasoning and sauces that they use that give it a unique peppery flavor. I have also had their gyozas, tempura veggies, California Rolls and one other roll. All were above average, and would order again if I was super hungry. I have also had a bite of the spicy chicken. It is HOT, but has some good flavors to it. I know people who order the Spicy Ramen and say that they enjoy it as well. Notes: Everything is good, just order it. Came here yesterday for a quick lunch while in the area. I was sad to see that they did away with their lunch specials, but with prices rising everywhere I completely understand why they had to. I guess I didn't know that the original owner sold the business 5 years ago. Yes, for sure things are different visually except for the yellow sign outside. I was surprised they were open considering the latest Governor order. I ordered lunch with my kids to go. Some of the of items are still there like the Big Combo which I ordered. The kids ordered their go to items, ramen and udon, which are new for an og customer like me. The big combo came with 4 pieces of California roll (rice on outside now and not as huge as original w/seaweed wrap), tempura (1 sm shrimp, 1 zucchini, 4 sm krab, 1 lg bird nest of onions), chicken teriyaki & rice (smaller portion and good sauce, not as good as original) and ice berg salad with orange slice. The og version, you were given a bigger portion that required plastic wrap around the bursting styrofoam box. I knew things have changed, the obvious being 3 electronic menu boards, refreshed interior, and Coke machine now self serve in dining area (No longer on other side of counter, no refills remember that?) The old dining booths were gone and there were free standing tables but all pushed aside for covid reasons. I kinda miss the old set up but things change. I hope the former owner is doing well. I hope this newer Orange House will live up to its adopted name. Oh, and I got a free drink for checking in. We came in about 7:30 on a Monday night... We told them it was our first time there. It's a sister and brother team & 1 cook... The hospitality was wonderful... My wife was cold so he gave her a hot tea on the house to warm her up... And gave me a free soda ..said first time is on me.. The food was really good too !
