Some really delicious ice cream, it was a nice treat after the beach. I loved how the chocolate hazelnut had whole hazelnuts mixed in with the ice cream it added a lot of flavor. Excellent ice cream!!! It could be my new favorite. Having never been to this shop, I ended up at their new additional shop in an adorable strip mall on Tamiami trail next to Trader Joe's and Chili's Restaurant. My only recommendations would be: to include their second shop on there website, update the website, advertise new location through coupons and signage near the new shop. Delicious, creamy ice cream! The best I've had in Sarasota so far. I tasted the gingerbread (December only) , salted caramel, and pistachio flavors and all were excellent. The little sample of pistachio even had a whole nut in it. I ordered the cookies n cream in a waffle cone, and the cone was packed right down to the bottom with ice cream. Wow. Why does this place have so many five stars? Seriously great ice cream. Heavy dense solid cream balls in the standard favorite flavors and many unique ones. On the sweet side, but not over bearingly so. Parking can be challenging in season or at dinner time. But if you are a ice cream connoisseur maybe going to the pay lot once will be worth your while. read more

The a name like "Orange Octopus", we absolutely had to try it. If that's not unique, I don't know what unique even means. We enjoyed two ice creams, Kentucky bourbon honey and gatortracks. Neither disappointed. Rather than being insanely cold and hard, the consistency was smooth and delicious. The flavors were strong and pure. Add in a proper double espresso and life was definitely good. Do you know where the business's name comes from? We were told Orange means Florida and Octopus is a reference to the beach. We had been shelling in Lido beach, had lunch at The Old Salty Dog, and were craving ice cream. So the Google's led us to the Orange Octopus. Some of the best ice cream either one of us has ever had! I love ice cream. I triple love and appreciate ice cream shops that make their own ice cream and don't just use a National brand. The orange octopus does that! It's obvious as their flavors are so unique. Butterscotch blast? Come onnn!! Their brownie flavor literally had an entire brownie in one of my bites. They also had a key lime flavor that used a whole key lime pie in the mix Prices are comparable because the ice cream is delicious. The lines are long at night and a lot of teenyboppers who talk really loudly and oblivious to a moving line but what do you expect? Go anyway. It's worth it. read more

Ice cream is flavorful and creative but when I asked if my 3 year old could have a half scoop of strawberry and half chocolate I was told that I'd be charged for two whole scoops. A 3 year old doesn't need 2 whole scoops. Have a better awareness for your audience. read more

This place is small, but delicious. Straightforward menu with about 24 flavors, cups or cones, and a variety of toppings. We were in a group of 7. After visiting Siesta Key and spending some time on the beach, me and my girlfriend were craving after something refreshing and sweet, so we went on Yelp and yelped away. We came across The Orange Octopus and after reading the amazing reviews it has we knew we had to go and try it. At The Orange Octopus we were greeted by a very nice lady that explained all the different flavors to us (we were also offered samples). I decided to get 1 scoop of chocolate and 1 scoop of the banana ice cream. Both were SUPER delicious and the banana one was one of the best ice creams I've ever had. My girlfriend got 1 scoop of chocolate cookies and cream and 1 scoop of salted caramel. She loved it. If I had ordered for myself, I would have picked all chocolate, and their creations looked great to me. Afterward, they added mix-ins like Oreos, candy, and nuts, and then froze everything with liquid nitrogen. Watching the white fog fill in the counter in front of us was really entertaining, and the kids loved the whole experience. Most importantly, they said their ice cream was delicious. This is definitely a great spot for a unique, entertaining dessert for kids and adults.

I really love this place. It has a great small town feel to it and more importantly the ice cream is to die for. It has other little baked goodies, that I didn't try but they looked great. I really wish I found this place sooner. I know where I am taking my kids next time for ice cream for sure! read more
