I recently relocated to Oakland and the first thing I did after looking at houses was drive straight to OTF Lakeland. As an avid Orangetheory goer, that was one of the most important things for me to have close by! Sandra was so kind & gave my husband and me a studio tour. Her energy is the exact same every, single time I see her and get to hear her on the mic. So inspiring! I was diagnosed with a medical condition not long after that took me out of working out for a while before we officially moved & I was worried it would be indefinitely. Thankfully, with medication and modifications from time to time, I was able to come back. I am so grateful to the team at OTF Lakeland, especially Sandra, Kaitlyn & Emily who always make sure I'm doing ok and give me the modifications I need to make sure I'm safe when working out. OTF is the best gym community there is, so if you haven't tried it yet, what are you waiting for?! Whether you're worried about needing modifications for an illness, injury, pregnancy, you name it, and they will work with you. You go at your own speed and it's you vs you. Shady location. I was overcharged last weekend and called to inquire why it was higher than what I was quoted. Anyway the guy at the front desk told me it was their error, but he couldn't do anything. He promised to call me back and hasn't. Now my card was charged again without my consent. I wrote a comment on the Lakeland Facebook page after no one tried to contact me and they blocked me. Watch your account. Shady people working here. read more

I love OTF Lakeland. I was scared at first but I was recommended by a close friend, a mother #2 sort of speak. That's been the best thing I could of ever done. I was scared because I'm obese. Like over 300 pounds obese. When I joined I was 341 with a healthier diet and going 2-3 times a week I'm 329. My pants are getting looser. The coaches are great but the other participants are very encouraging and help motivate each other. One coach her name is Emily told me to listen to my body because I did research online and I read some scary things happening to people. But each class people I beat my personal record from the class before. I just don't mention it in class. No matter your experience come try out a free class. You'll love it. I see new people all the time. The class consists of diverse good music and time goes by so fast. I'm starting to get addicted to this place. I have friends that attend the Germantown location. OF is great and have many different times from as early as 5 am and as late as 7 pm. Most of the time I workout before I go to work. Might I add I joined on June 2 and I experience nothing but the best and they greet me by first name which makes me feel like I'm part of the family! I never leave written reviews, but feel compelled after my recent atrocious experience at this studio. I have been a member for 9 months now. Below are positives and negatives. Positives - Instructors: -My favorite instructor is Emily. During my time at OTF Lakeland my form has improved significantly during workouts due to Emily providing recommendations on how to correct myself. She has a great attitude and energy as well, thus her classes are great! Cleanliness: -The studio is generally clean, with most of the equipment working. Negatives - The owner, Nancy Rose is out to suck your money. She formerly served the military is ready to fight you down Facility Amenities: -During the summer months the AC was not working, which was like a suana room to workout in a class full in the memphis heat. Instructors: -My experience with having Emily as my instructor is not the norm, overall the instructors seem overwhelmed to pay attention to a class full of 30 individuals or even if it is 10 or more to help with improving the workouts. This may not be unique to Lakeland. Front Desk Service & Crude behavior of studio owner: -Issues with App: During the past two months my app has not been working as intended, where the app does not register the class as cancelled, and then shows as late cancel. I brought this to the attention of the studio manager, she "kindly" waived the late cancellations the first month and then told me she would file a ticket with corporate - which apparently did not happen. The second month it happened, she said the app should be working fine, and then accused me of lying of the late cancellations, when I had shown previous screenshots already where sometimes the app cancels the classes and it registers in the system and sometimes it does not. I told her how would I know if the app cancels, and she just shrugged it off. I thought I was going insane with this, but apparently on enough reddit threads some users are experiencing the same issue, this is a thing on the app where it does not register the cancel in the studio's system from time to time. What cringed me was the way the studio decided to handle this by accusing me of lying instead of sorting it out and providing a solution. -With all the chaoticness I decided to transfer my membership from this studio to another location out of state, since I travel frequently. I gave them ample notice to sort out the logistics (1 month), especially since the membership rate is higher at the new location. Studio manager had told me they would transfer the biling invoice on the billing date to the new studio. Instead what happened, the transfer was never completed, and they billed me on my invoice date that was supposed to be transferred to the new place. I called the studio and talked to the owner asking why I was billed with them when the studio manager told me this month's billing was to be forwarded to new studio. To cover up the tracks of their mistakes, Owner decides to send me the cancellation form two dates after billing me and gave me 2¢ how expensive California is (Lol Okay?) All in all if the owner/service manager had an iota of basic intelligence or the brain cells to comprehend how to manage customer services, they would be able to solve simple problems. Stuff like app glitches or transfering issues are not solely the customer's fault or the a specific studio as this is a slow process in corporate that is involved, but instead involves approaching how to solve the issue at hand instead of behaving outrageously and yelling at customer on the phone (So CRINGE). Only come here for my favorite instructor and the convenience of location/time, otherwise I go to the studio in Memphis, where the front desk manager and owner are infinitely better and equipped with basic human communication skills. read more

No STARS AT ALL! Extremely Bad customer service--I just wanted to figure out why I was charged for two more months when My account was supposed to be frozen. There must be some misunderstanding. The owner said THIS IS AMERICA, THIS IS BUSINESS, YOU SHOULD SPEAK ENGLISH WELL AND UNDERSTAND WELL, OR YOU SHOULD NOT BE IN HERE. The manager and the Owner both said SIGN YOUR CANCELLATION FORM AND LEAVE when I was asking questions. On March 24th, 2019, my husband signed me up for classes at this location. I had a month to month contract. On 4/25/2019, I finished my first month of working out, and up til this point I had a really good time there. But, I was going to have a surgery, so I told them I would be back in a couple of weeks. I was going to cancel my membership, but they told me I could freeze my account instead. I asked them if they needed proof or a doctor's note and the employee assured me they didn't need anything else from me. She told me she would freeze my account and it would be taken care of. Then I left. Then, once a month, I got a phone call from OrangeTheory and they wanted me to upgrade my plan. It sounded like a normal sales pitch and I told them I wasn't available or recovered yet. But, this week (7/21), I found out on my own that they had been charging me automatically every month for the package ($97.68/8 classes). I was charged for two more months for nothing. My account was never frozen. So, on that Monday (7/22), I went up there. I went in and introduced myself to the manager and shook her hand. I explained that I was told the account would be frozen for me. But they said they have a note from the employee that contradicted that, which they later emailed: "said that she would be having outpatient surgery Thursday (4/25). So she will probably be out for a couple of weeks. Told her to fill out the form if she needed to freeze." That's not what happened, as I told to her to close the account. I was new member, who had only been there for a month--how would I know how to freeze my account if she didn't give me a form or something to fill out? But they said there is nothing they can help with--that it was their corporate policy and should be my responsibility. Then, I asked if I could have their corporate number. They refused to give it to me. Then, I asked them to talk to the employee who told me that she would freeze my account? They said they didn't know which employee it was, so I described her looks. I asked if they could check their camera. They said their footage was only available for two days. I asked if they could check your schedule to see who it was? Then suddenly the owner got really upset and stood up and said you should stop attacking my manager. She was very tense and very loud. This was during my lunch break and I was wearing my work uniform. She threatened me and said that she was going to come to my company and tell our customer service and manager that I was attacking her manager! I was a customer just trying to figure out the situation. I could not believe she threatened me like that--how can you treat your customers like that? She said that "sign your cancellation form and leave, that's it. We are not going to return any money to you! We had people call you! That's it, I'm done, I'm leaving!" she said. Yes, they called me, once a month. But they were asking me when I will be back? I thought my account was frozen. I said there must be some misunderstanding there. I am a Chinese, and my English is not that great, but I try and I get better every day. The owner said this is America, you should speak English. It's your problem that you are not understanding. If you can't speak, you shouldn't be here. Everybody here speaks English--this is a business. I was very offended and shocked at this statement and personally attacked. The owner said that she and her husband travel all over the world, but they never had a situation like this or a problem with other languages. They were so rude to me, I was just crying in the middle of the store. The manager said we called you, we did all we can. I didn't think that was true, so I asked more questions. Did you mention my account status when you called? Did you call my husband? Did you email me? The manager was not happy because I asked those questions and she said if you are not satisfied here, then sign your cancellation form and go somewhere else. I feel they treated me very poorly. I feel like they had very bad customer service because I had a problem, but they did not want to work with me at all. If they had tried to solve the problem, then they could've gotten a lot more business from me. But how these gyms work is just like a scam. They just want your money; they don't care about your problem. read more

Class was awesome! From the time I walked through the door to the actual class even through the end the staff were extremely friendly and supportive during my entire workout. The instructor Caleb was awesome and helped me push through! This high intensity workout is no joke but it's definitely doable! One would think because you're a runner it won't be as intense but it definitely takes some getting used to! I loved the class and will definitely be back! read more

I absolutely love OrangeTheory Fitness!! As a fifty something year old woman with a fake hip, I can say that this can be for everyone. I have been doing it for a while and I feel amazing. THE BEST HOUR OF MY DAY!!! OTF Lakeland had the best office staff, coaches and members!! The staff knew who I was from day one and have treated me with the same respect every time I walk in the door. I fractured my foot and ask if they can waved my last month cancellation fee! I provided them Doctor's note, Reports and X-rays! That was not good enough instead they called me a lier and went to my doctors office to ask if it's true that I injured my self! Who does that? The doctors note was written in a doctors pad and they called it fraud and called the police!They wanted written electronically why does it matter if it's on a pad they have the doctors name location etc. on it! And it's hard to believe my Doctor would have given them any information have they heard about HIPPA apparently not! This over a $120 last month fee! I have also attached a copy of my doctors report and X-ray since they claimed I'm a lier so I don't have to pay my last month fee! I also got in contact with my doctor and forward this foolish to him! I will file for a law suit on both parties for violating my rights and violation of HIPAA! And pls. Provide me the police report no. So I can use this in court! I also attached a copy of the letter from my Doctor pls. Read! read more

First time at Orange Theory tonight, and I HAD to review! I had read that you feel like you've had a double espresso after leaving this class, and it's true! It was that energizing! This is a workout like no other. It's a combination of cardio intervals and weight training that is heart-rate based. You get a heart rate monitor at the beginning of the class and work to put yourself in the "Orange Zone," your target heart rate zone. I can't wait to get into my next class. My husband was with me tonight, and he enjoyed it, also. I recommend that you check out the website and watch a couple videos on what the classes entail so that you have an idea of what you're in for. Go in with an open mind and a willingness to challenge yourself, and you'll love it, too! read more

I tried out a free session (they offer 1 free session) here because I was curious. To start i really liked their layout and all the orange colors were nice and warm on the eyes. All the equipment is brand new and clean. The rowers were amazing! They are water rowers. Yes, you actually are rowing water. Water provides the resistance. It was a one hr class. They gave me a heart monitor to wear and synced it to the big screen. I could see my numbers (bpm, % max, calories burned) live on the screen and the colors changed from green to orange to red as I pushed my self more. Class was led by an instructor who would tell us when to pick up the pace and when to slow down. Instructor also led us through a full body workout. It was an awesome workout. I felt great after. Burned over a thousand calories in that session. Highly recommend to those who are looking for serious results. All you have to do is get there and they take care of the rest. read more

Orange Theory is the best place I have ever worked out at! I love getting the benefits of personal training at a group training price. It's worth every penny! All of the coaches are great and really care about helping you to reach your goals. The workouts are different every time, so you never do the same workout twice or get bored.
