This was a fantastic experience. Sure it takes a bit but if you sit at the bar and watch the sheer amount of love that goes into every plate.... this is fine dining. Amazing food. The food is five star. Management, three star. All dishes are served family style. Everything the four of us tried got rave reviews. Wine offerings were good. We were told the menu changes daily so talking about what we ate won't help the next diner. Service style is less than stellar. We were told to take our time and we weren't in a hurry. Ordered a drink (why does everyone have stupid drinks now? What about the classics please) and while lingering over them were approached several times by both the server and the owner wanting our order. We told them we hadn't even looked at the menu and wanted to enjoy our drinks but they kept coming back. They were the ones who told us to relax and enjoy the evening. When we ordered I asked our server if one dish was similar to Carpaccio and she didn't know. Most of the offerings were Italian in nature so one might expect a riff on Carpaccio. We finished ordering and our server informed us we could ask her anything since she was a real "foodie". A foodie who doesn't know Carpaccio? The rest of the evening went smoothly. Not the best first impression for this restaurant. Prices are high in relation to portion sizes and to much lag time between courses; we were there over an hour and a half which is way to long. We ordered the cauliflower and it was very good. We also ordered the beets and they were good, minus the dark red beets that tasted almost canned, not fresh. For the main course we ordered brisket. We've had brisket at a lot of places, including Texas and this was more pot roast consistency, but good flavor. Potatos were good, but the cabbage that was a served with meal was beyond salty and it over powered alllll the other flavors on plate. When we brought it to our server Greg's attention, we actually got a condescending response to our concerns and implied that we don't know what fermented foods are. My best friend then politely told him he understands what fermented foods were in response to Greg's attitude. My friend is German, makes his own fermented vegs and kraut and even for him that was way too salty and took away from the meat. We told him it tasted like the chef was trying to do a short ferment or trying to keep the cabbage extra crisp for serving. Greg told us it was fermented like kim chee and no it wasn't. My best also friend lived in korea and ate street kimchee of every variety all the time. Not even close to kim chee. This was beyond the levels needed and completely ruined eating the meal. Couldnt taste the meat and our tongues were raw for 2 hours after... Total waste of over 95.00 for 2 people. It also didn't help that Greg came back to our table and and told us he tasted it and it was good and was still chewing the food and wiping his hands on pants while talking to us. Was really gross and unprofessional. Would have appreciated some compensation or an I'm sorry, instead of having to go get a small bite somewhere else. Very Westside mentality don't think I'll be back due to lack of caring customer service. read more

Wow. What a gem in Cle Elum! Definitely unique among the restaurant offerings in this town. We got a same day reservation for a party of 6, not knowing what to expect. Service was lovely - everyone was very friendly and helpful, and fairly prompt about clearing plates and such. The food was very, very good. I'm a total foodie and love eating at places that really develop good flavors - this place was definitely on par with some of the good places over in Seattle area. Only complaints would be that some dishes could have used a touch more seasoning, and the portion sizes were on the small side. We ordered 3 starters, 4 pastas, and 3 mains (plus 2 desserts) for our table of 6 (5 ladies and a gentleman) and it was just the right amount. The pastas were absolutely outstanding - you can definitely tell they are made from scratch. Highly recommend. The food came out a little slowly, but not overly slow - they could be a little more prompt to perfect the experience. Overall a very good meal. Let's start with the service...beyond pleased. This is where you feel you belong once you step in. I love the bathrooms as they have real towels. If only you all could hear me squeal. The food is full of flavor like a blast to your taste buds. I have had rabbit a few times in my life but nothing like this. Falls off the bones with a sauce that some heavenly god cake up with. The rib ravioli with real beef bullion gives you a country home feel like something grandma wished she could achieve. Cauliflower was our start and I love to barbecue it. This is something I cannot make at home and might have to pay someone to give me the secrets. Lastly, the Carmel Apple pie...it was a secret family recipe that now everyone can enjoy and feel the holidays rushing back into your mouth. The Carmel is not over the top like the store bought crap. I shall now never look at Carmel the same. The con of it all is I live in Seattle and now I have to commute but totally worth it and I would say trust me but you need to experience it for yourself. I can say you will not be disappointed. Cheers to all who get a chance to join and experience a new level of taste, life and some basic to the roots with a flare that no date will ever complain about and if they do ditch them. I suggest for any first date, anniversary or just wanting a place to dress up or dress down. Who would have thought that I would find one of the best restaurants ever in Cle Elum! It was a quaint with a laid back vibe, and a foodies delight for sure. Everything we ordered was amazing starting with the cherry lime aid and lemon drop. The watermelon burrata summer salad was fresh with a perfect mix of flavors. The steelhead was cooked and spiced to perfection, the chicken and waffles were a treat of sweet and savory, the Ahi nachos were loaded with ahi and avocados were super fresh and delicious and the mushroom risotto was to die for. All creatively plated! Our server, Emma, was knowledgeable, professional and attentive. My next visit to Suncadia I will skip the resort food and come straight to The Orchard! read more

Mehhhh at best. We were given a gift card by some friends with a great recommendation so we decided to try it out for our anniversary dinner. First impressions were not great as we opened the door there was a super loud birthday party happening in the bar area. We were clearly out of place dressed for a nice dinner but felt like we entered a frat party of 50&60 year olds. Not what we were expecting for a nice dinner out, but we pushed on hoping the food would make up for the obnoxiously loud party. Unfortunately that didn't happen. The food was ok, not great (or horrible). The salad was good, but the medium rare "rib eye" was chopped up pieces of fat and meat anywhere from very rare to well done soaked in steak sauce. If you want mediocre expensive food and service that makes you feel like you're inconveniencing them, with a diner atmosphere this is it. We were thankful Swiftwater was just right up the road to redeem our anniversary dinner, and they even topped off the night with a dessert for our anniversary. read more

Went last night for my birthday dinner, our first time here. It was really great! Wonderful cozy place. Staff is friendly and service excellent. Fun cocktails. My only criticism would be they need much more Washington wines on their list. Food was fantastic. We started with the pork belly app and their famous cauliflower app. So good! The food was great and the service was even better. I was able to get a same day reservation and upon arrival it was obvious they excel at the small details. The server brought over a few wine samples to help me make a final decision when I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. Another server came over to our table after noticing we didn't have an appetizer to offer one the kitchen accidentally made by mistake for free. The chicken and salmon were both excellent. First off, this is a fine dining establishment, not pizzas and burgers. I felt that some of the reviews here were unfair, considering the expectations were wrong. It's quality food, which leads to higher prices. My wife and I are frequent visitors to Suncadia since we have ties to the area. As much as we would like to appreciate their dining options at the resort, we have been disappointed. We decided to give Orchard a try, and we were not disappointed. Everything from the service, to the drinks, and the four course meal was excellent. The owner of this restaurant is giving it everything he has, and we highly recommend it. My wife and I travel a lot, and eat out a lot across the country. This place is on par. Please support this local restaurant. read more

Had the tour of the orchard tasting menu which was 6-7 plates of chef picked dishes for the day. 1) pork belly-- spiced pineapple-mango purée, pickled blackberry and confit red onion 2) cauliflower -- amazing.. (even ordered a full size) 3) Walmart pickled beet salad 4) smoked corn risotto 5) double r ranch strip loin (dry aged) Amazing desert as well! Also really enjoyed the orchard old fashioned. My husband and I went there for our 3rd Anniversary and this place didn't disappoint. Most fine dining that we have visited has more dark room setting. I love that the Orchard is well lit, nice decors and an open kitchen. Our waitress, Kailee, did a great job serving and answering all of our questions. They have a small menu but good variety. Kailee told us that the menu changes a lot. Food was soooo delicious! My husband ordered a lemon ginger mojito which was so good. We ordered the Cauliflower and Pancenella for appetizer. I recommend the Cauliflower. It was just the right taste. For the pasta, we ordered the Gnocchi. It was the best gnocchi I've ever had. The combination of morel mushroom, goat cheese and gnocchi was amazing. For the entrees, we ordered the 14 oz NY and the earth and ocean. For the dessert, we had the dark chocolate pan de crema, white chocolate pan de crema and banana foster. All dessert was amazing! Just a warning, all of their plates are small portions. They serve it one at a time but all worth it. Definitely coming back to this place. read more

Set up a Yelp account just for this: Service was attentive and we liked the space. Plenty of staff sitting at the bar - not a complaint. Had the gnocchi/mushrooms - 6 or 7 tiny pieces of gnocchi. The server realized the small portion and offered to get more but never follow through. Not sure what happened. The gnocchi was good but a laughably small portion. We wish we had taken photos. 2 orders of cedar plank steelhead, both were raw in the center. We pointed this out to the server and she agreed and we sent them back. Of the 2 pieces of fish that came back, one was even more undercooked. The centers of three pieces of fish were straight up raw. It could have been good. The Ragu pasta was undercooked. Al dente is fine but this was chewy and gummy. The sauce was OK but nothing special. Ahi Nachos and Cauliflower appetizers were both good. Cocktails were good, especially the Longhorn Sour. We spent $250+ including tip for a very disappointing night and I regret not communicating with the manager. At least the experience made for some good yucks on our way home. read more

We arrived at 9 pm on Sat night--and the menu on the exterior door said you close at 10 pm--and your restaurant agreed to serve us--only to have the hostess/waitress tell us that you were only serving the bar menu--so we left. (We had already picked out our craft cocktails and we were ready for a big steak dinner. Hmmm, the bar menu only=no steaks=no thanks.) We won't be back. read more

It was our 50th wedding anniversary and with the pandemic going on, we ended up celebrating at our place in Cle Elum instead of Maui! I called a couple of nice restaurants about ordering something special and Orchard rose to the occasion with a 5-course tasting menu that we could pick up and take home. They had it ready for me when I came by, with directions for plating. They wrote out a sheet to help with directions, and it was fantastic! We loved the roasted cauliflower starter, and the risotto with smoked steelhead was divine. The main course was a lovely steak with potatoes and a chipotle sauce, and a couple of crab claws each. We were so full that we postponed the trio of desserts for a few hours. Loved the bread pudding! Many thanks to the chef and his crew for an unforgettable Golden Anniversary dinner! It's times like these that we really appreciate the personal touch. You guys went the extra mile for us and we love you for it. We'll be back soon! read more

Our overall experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. Our entire evening was one fiasco after another. I'll only go into detail on the most glaring and unforgiving: Although we had notified the restaurant in advance through their email questionnaire (and also day-of by phone) that one in our party was gluten allergic, they did not accommodate her in any way other than removing all gluten items from the outrageously expensive six-course tasting menu which we were required to order on NYE. My friend sat there with nothing to eat while we reluctantly ate in front of her. Even without advance notice, they could have given her some veggies from the dinner course on a plate or something else that they had on hand. But since they HAD advance notice, they should have had something just as suitable (let alone of equal value) on-hand to offer. (Yes, they charged her the same price, if you are wondering). Other than that, the portions were miniscule, they performed a bait and switch with the wine and charged us erroneously twice (my alert friend caught the second error upon leaving). To top it off, it was my Birthday. They had asked us if it was a special occasion and so we responded as such to their email questionnaire and also day-of during their phone confirmation, but then they did absolutely nothing to note it while we were there. Why even bother to ask??? Such a shame our experience was so bad. We won't be returning and do not recommend this place at all. read more

We came here for our anniversary dinner while on vacation with the family. We were excited for a nice evening out, but we were blown away by how wonderful our meal was. We arrived a little early for our reservation and were seated immediately. We decided on the three course tasting menu with wine paring. Each course was just wonderful. We had the Ahi Nachos, white bean soup and a wilted greens salad. Then the "surf and turf" which was an out of this world filet mignon with prawns covered in onions. It was so good, I forgot to take pictures and can hardly remember the details, just how amazing everything tasted. We didn't want our meal to end so we had bread pudding for dessert along with the ice cream of the day. The service was incredible, everyone was so warm and welcoming. I was so excited to try a new restaurant in Cle Elum. As a permanent resident of Cle Elum our restaurant choices are few. Unfortunately Orchard was a complete disappointment. The menu was strange and difficult. The food amount was tiny. I am quite familiar with finer restaurants serving smaller portions but this was truly ridiculous. Especially for the price. How about salad? Nope, unless you'd like warm, grilled lettuce. A piece of bread to keep you satisfied while waiting an extreme length of time for dinner to show up? Nope. The vast majority of the wine selection was imported. Hard to spend $70 for a bottle of wine you've never heard of and the wait staff is clueless. The best part of this restaurant is the décor. Beautifully finished. Unfortunately, the food and menu selection was an epic fail. read more

Inattentive service, food is very overpriced and overall very poor experience made our first visit Orchard likely our last. Sat down as a party of six and wasn't greeted for nearly 15 minutes. The waiter didn't know the menu and wasn't able to answer fairly simple questions such as the cut of steak on the menu or the cut of lamb. Ordered three pasta dishes, three vegetable sides and the steak and lamb - an hour and a half later we had been served the vegetables and pasta and had to ask for water to be refilled multiple times, nobody offered more wine and our glasses sat empty. We got up to leave nearly two hours in and pay our check as it appeared our protein order has been forgotten, only to have the waiter very rudely approach us and ask what we were doing and tell us that we didn't order anything else! An unfortunate end to a fairly blah experience. We badly were hoping for another fun spot in town - but this place is sadly vastly overpriced for the poor level of service and the food was mediocre- with only one of the dishes - the Fettucini - being noteworthy. read more
