He's claiming we were all belligerent, we're in ours 30s and some are even pregnant. We were not loud, just a larger group of regular customers just talking and reviewing the menu. Multiple owners came up and DISRESPECTED us. Wanted to double down even though we started to whisper. This place is HORRIBLE. We were so uncomfortable, we made the decision to leave. DO NOT give them your business. The food was ehh anyway (only had the cauliflower app) for the "nicest place in cle elum" according to the owners. Will never come back. DO NOT GO. WOW! So great to have Chef Alex and his team back in Cle Town. My wife & I visited Orchard Restaurant and were absolutely thrilled with the atmosphere, service and food. We went overboard ordering but wanted to try many different dishes that jumped off the menu at us. We started with the clams with pork belly - the excellent broth would have tasted good from an old shoe. The Kasu salmon and the halibut with pesto were both fantastic. The house made pappardelle pasta with ragu reminded me of some of the great Italian I've enjoyed in NY & Boston. We finished with the NY steak which was perfect. Because of the volume of food ordered, we had a few items leftover - and to our surprise when we were unpacking the bag, at home we found a beautiful puff pastry and berries dessert. I am sad to have to give this restaurant such a low review. They have many components to be good, but the execution of the food is not good. Pros We had a reservation and were greeted by friendly front of the house staff. Both waitresses were also good and attentive. The cocktails + mock tails we also, good, not great, but I would not mind having them again, safe choices. The restaurant also had good ambience, cozy, country, casual. Cons The food. For a restaurant to have as the con the food is a problem. 3 of 4 dishes were badly executed. I would venture to say that it's quite possible the chef has never had these dishes before or has majorly misinterpreted them. 1. Panna cotta - It was grainy, sour, and very weird texture. Memorably the worst I have ever been served. I love panna cotta and have had it many times, I also make it at home. The beauty of a panna cotta is that it's meant to be smooth like silk, after all the name stands for cooked cream. How to fix: your gelatin should be fully dissolved in warm water for at least 5 minutes. Your sugar should be fully dissolved in the cream mixture, this means warm up the mixture and whisk the sugar, add some vanilla. Don't put anything sour in the cream, this will make it curdle. For a strawberry panna cotta don't just slice some strawberries on top, try a coulis there are plenty of recipes online. Your gelatin to cream ratio was too high. 2. Corn Risotto - I get it you are trying some southern thing that's cool. Three key things to know about risotto, al dente means the rice should have texture but not crack when you bite the grain, that's just serving undercooked rice. Risotto never stands in attention, if your risotto can take the shape of a pyramid it means not enough broth and no gremolata. The corn flavor should have been Infused into the rice, to do that you can create your broth with corn husks with the corn, remove the kernels, and keep cooking down the husks in your broth. Roast the corn. The idea of adding smoke to the dish was good. I would have taken it further and smoked your corn. The sun dried tomatoes did not belong, at all in the corn risotto. There were about 8 whole sun dried tomatoes making the whole thing so sour. 3. Beef tagliatelle - it's not a pasta you make al dente. The beef was salty, but otherwise ok, could have used a bit of sauce. read more

I think its the only fine-dining restaurant around the Suncadia area, so definitely plan a meal there if you are visiting Suncadia. The food is great - I tried the New York steak and my wife did the Wild Halibut, both were really nice. The wild halibut had a thai green curry take to it - well done! They have just opened and missing dessert options hence I have provided 4 stars , will definitely return to check how the menu evolves and what types of desserts are offered. I thought this restaurant was amazing with great food and friendly staff. It is always nice to find jewels in the smallest of American cities and this was no exception. My wife, friend, and I were moved to thank each of the cooks and our server and I would thoroughly recommend to anyone passing through Cle Elum or making of it a destination. Should be just as nice for those staying at Suncadia or Roslyn as well as Leavenworth and Ellensburg for those wishing to venture further afield from those locations. Mom and I had the 5-course dinner with The Orchard's recommended wine pairings last night. Service was very good - not disruptively over-attentive, but servers showed up at all the right moments in a lovely engaging way with great food and wine. It was Mom's birthday and Gary, the owner, knew it and made sure mom felt special without embarrassing her publicly :-P The courses were exquisite - first, a lovely beet and orange salad; second, perfectly crispy yet very tender and flavorful fried oysters; third, a risotto with fresh truffles (I love risotto, I love truffles, what could go wrong?); fourth, fantastic New York strip grilled perfectly medium rare and served chateaubriand-style with delicious, understated seasoning on the grilled edge paired with a large perfectly grilled scallop - yes - perfectly grilled, fresh, and tasty East of the mountains - seated on a nest of delectable greens; and fifth, a couple of dainty scoops of house-made ice cream - a scoop of coconut topped with a scoop of chocolate, sprinkled with fresh grated coconut with the result being something like a mounds bar (only a whole lot better!). I am more food-focused than wine, which is probably sad because the wines were amazing too! I wish I could tell you which wines we drank - something like this: a sparkling rose with the salad; a sauvignon blanc with the oysters; a somewhat unmemorable red with the risotto (but, again, to someone more wine-focused, perhaps it would have been remarkable); a beautiful cab with the steak and scallop; and a lovely, amber dessert wine that tasted something like a syrupy old-fashioned with a hint of raisin and a hazelnut nose with the house-made ice-cream. My wife and I dined here for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The owners were gracious, hospitable, and kind. They have clearly poured a lot of thought and heart into curating an experience of fine dining. We loved the food and service and will definitely return. If you want a relaxing, personable experience of fine dining, give this place a try. We sat next to the table that gave 1 star review. My wife and I could barely hear each other and we were sitting across from one another at a two top table (roughly two feet apart). It was inappropriate and tasteless to behave so rudely in a small restaurant. Coming into a restaurant already belligerently drunk, taking shots from booze that you sneak into the restaurant, constantly yelling across the table, and then making a scene that it was everyone else's fault is unacceptable. There is a time and place for that type of party- take it to the local tavern and have at it. After reading their review (that was in no way in touch with reality), I'm reminded of the late Anthony Bourdain's comments on the Elite Yelper- as being the very definition of entitlement and an oxymoron- like "Jumbo Shrimp". Elite Yelpers are not good for restaurants and they are not good for chefs. An owner pours their blood and sweat into making something great and then a Yelper comes in and reviews as, "Worst Dinner Ever". It's not fair, it's not true, and it's unkind. Try this place out! Dined for the 1st time last night and was blown away. There just aren't that many options for higher end food in Roslyn or Cle Elum. Quality ingredients, focus on presentation, good service, etc. We had Pork Belly, Cauliflower, Chorizo Carbonara, their version of a Bouillabaisse and ended with Poached Pear. All but the Carbonara were amazing, with the pasta being a bit too fine which caused it to be dry/stuck together even after mixing in the egg. I will say that I was on my phone for a minute and didn't mix the egg right away. Decor was good but dining area was noisy even at half-full. Open kitchen was nice to be able to see the dedication and creativity. Espresso was very smooth. Wine list is quite small and a lot of wines I wasn't familiar with. The Chardonnay my wife had really wasn't that dry. The other area we weren't impressed with were the cocktails. The French 75 lacked enough tart & sweetness to balance the gin; not sure the champagne that was used but that could have a huge impact on taste. The (forget the name) bacon infused smokey scotch drink I had was interesting but was a bit too boring in that I couldn't taste any whiskey nor could I taste the bacon; it was like mixing so many colors that you end up with gray. Happy I tried and I applaud the creativity, but I'll stick to more classic cocktails. Definitely coming back. Some of the other good food options locally may be close on taste, but pale in presentation, service, and decor. So this is a great option for entertaining visitors or special occasions. read more

I planned a special adventure, traveled three hours, and scheduled a reservation in advance. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, the staff seemed great that I interacted with. However I was very disappointed with the length of wait and the food the kitchen "finally" gave us. With less than 40 seats in the house, half of them having food when My wife and I arrived, I was astonished to have not received even my appetizer at an hour and a half into our wait at the table. Dante our server jumped behind the counter to help cook our meal because the people on staff were so far behind, and obviously inapt at doing their job. (Cooking only 1-2 meals at a time) There was multiple other customers visibly offended and upset at the wait times and experience they had tonight as well. Lindsey, The manager on staff this evening comped 50% of our meal. Which was a good effort, and I was thankful for. Had I gotten an actual meal we could eat, I would have come back again for a second shot because of the other reviews that led me to chose this restaurant. However the kitchen rushed our food into to-go boxes (as we requested after waiting an hour and a half, due to having a five-month-old we had to get back to) When we got to our hotel, and opened up our boxes, our gnocchi and mushroom pasta had less than six gnocchi noodles in it (even for my wife this was less than a half serving). The cedar plank steelhead was raw, Our Pork belly was undercooked as well, and the Bolognese Ragu was also a TINY serving. The only thing that held up to the expectation was the bread pudding that other reviews have raved about. I was thankful and willing to give this restaurant another chance, especially after Lindsey and Dante worked hard to make our experience a little better. But as a person who has managed many restaurants, as well as been both a line cook and sous chef in many restaurants, the line cook or chef that was behind the counter cooking should not have a job there. This restaurant has a great front, but if this is how you serve your customers, you will not survive in the restaurant industry very long. Especially in a small town. NOTE - If you are planning on scheduling a date night for Valentine's Day, I hope that this cook is not working the night that you hope to have a great experience. This restaurant needs to staff their kitchen much better, not only with more people and more help, but with people who Care enough about their customers to not serve them raw food after already making them wait 1.5-2 hours completely ruining the efforts of the server and manager to make our experience better. read more

I had looked forward to dining at this restaurant based on pleasant and detailed correspondence with the owner, Greg. However, our experience at this restaurant was frustrating due to delays and poor communication. We had put a deposit for $250 to hold a reservation for a party of 16 at 8pm. When we showed up at 8, less than half the seats for our table were ready. There were limited/no status updates as we waited until 8:45 to finally be seated. Then Greg came and informed me in front of my guests that I did not make entree selections for the group ahead of time, which would further delay things. I did not know this was the expectation, nor was it brought up in the handful of email correspondences leading up to that day. They did not provide a menu or description of how the entree choices (steelhead, steak, or chicken) would be prepared. Around 9, our waitress finally came around for drink orders. By then, one of our guests had asked her multiple times if we could get a menu, if she was going to take drink orders, and whether she could bring him a beer. She slammed his drink on the table and then broke a plate shortly after. She may have been stressed/not used to serving such a large group, but asking him to order a drink at the bar would have been a better response than making them feel like they were being an nuisance for asking for a menu/drink after a 1 hour delay for a known reservation. The first two courses of our meal were set ahead of time, but there was still a long wait on each course. The entree (3rd course) didn't come out until around 10pm. The meal concluded around 10:30. My guests were super tired and trying to be good sports about the situation. At no point did anyone come around and check in, let alone apologize for the delays, or offer a bottle of wine or a few desserts or anything as a nice gesture to acknowledge the situation. When we got home, I realized the deposit for the reservation had not been subtracted from the bill, and a whiskey flight we had ordered was also omitted from the bill. I emailed Greg that night regarding the discrepancies and called to follow up the next day, but have not yet heard back. Update, he did respond Monday morning stating he will reconcile the bill and deduct the whiskey flight from the deposit. Seeing that it does not appear they realize how painful the entire dinner experience was, the above concerns were also sent to the owner via email. The food here is decent. The drinks are good. All we wanted was a pleasant evening celebrating our friend's birthday. Instead, we felt like a $1300 inconvenience. My husband and I visited Orchard for our Wedding Anniversary dinner. The owner and their staff were so kind. We had an amazing dinner and tried the tasting menu with the wine paring. Each dish was cooked to perfection and was complex on flavor while being approachable. We finished the ahi tuna appetizer even before we remembered to take pictures. It was fresh and we could have had a few orders of these. I don't like cauliflower or raisins and I ate the whole dish. Everyone was so easy to work with and Alex did a fantastic job of preparing our meal. Courtney, our catering person was also a delight and made sure that everything was set up just the way we wanted it. The food was fantastic and they came and set up the house for the service. It was also a surprise for my wife's birthday so they had to be a little bit on the sleuth in order to make this all happen, and they pulled it off perfectly. What a delightful experience at Orchard. A true gem indeed. A true farm to table restaurant that uses fresh ingredients, changes its menu everyday and has a varied selection for every palate. Attention goes into everything from the cocktails to dessert. Orchard puts its signature on every dish, making each dish unique. We got 4 different entrees (Halibut, steak, risotto and pasta) and each one was exceptional. Not an easy feat. Tipping my hat to the Chef. Great care is also taken in presentation, the mix of flavors, and the order in which dishes were served. The staff/Greg was friendly, suggesting drink pairings and accommodating of some of our diets (vegetarian/pescatarian). I can go on, but you get the idea. We loved our experience at orchard and will be back for the "Tour of the Orchard" menu. In short, if you are passing through Cle Elum or live in Cle Elim and surrounding areas, Orchard is definitely worth checking out.
