Hubby and I decided to have a late lunch at Luci's at the Orchard, a fantastic hidden gem in north central Phoenix on 12th Street just north of Glendale. When we got there we saw that the restaurant was closed but then noticed a bunch of people at the building next door, which we thought they just used for special events. Turns out they reopened a second restaurant on the property, this time called Orchard Tavern! It was only their second day in business! Weren't we in luck! So we decided to check it out! They had a beautiful outdoor seating area with lots of architectural fire features, party lights, etc., and the weather was nice with just the slightest breeze so we decided to sit outside. Most everyone else was doing the same thing. In fact, the place was about PACKED at 3 in the afternoon, including lots of people of all ages including a toddler! Very family friendly! We decided to order a Margherita Pizza, which we had had something similar next door that was delicious, and an Orchard Chopped salad. The seater said they make fantastic artisan cocktails and highly recommended the margarita, so I decided to give that a try too. It did take a while for them to take our order (we said we needed more time but not THAT much time, like 15 minutes!), but once they took our order it was out VERY quickly! The pizza was just slightly burnt, but I chalk that up to new restaurant jitters. The flavors were very fresh and the dough tasted homemade. Hubby's salad was chock full of greens, grilled corn, grape tomatoes, chickpeas and feta cheese with a buttermilk ranch dressing. Super tasty! But the real kicker--and I mean that literally--was the margarita, which had jalapeno, yes, jalapeno flavoring added, and two dried jalapeno slices on top! I know that sounds weird, but it really gave what could have just been a boring ordinary old margarita a new and interesting kick! And it was NOT too spicy, just right! I am still dreaming about that drink and wonder if I could figure out how to make it at home! Suffice it to say the visit was great overall and we will certainly be back to enjoy this place, whether or not Luci's next door is open! Success is written all over this new establishment! We've been to Orchard Tavern about 10 times now and have always had great experiences. It was fantastic the first time we went, very soon after they opened, and it's still just as good in 2025. We enjoy sitting at the bar, inside, or on the patio. Great ambiance, the service is top-notch, the food always tastes fresh and delicious, the portions are generous, and they have a good draft beer selection. We will keep returning. read more

Pomelo was a favorite neighborhood spot so we were really sad when it shut down during the pandemic but I have to say this new version is even better! Our dinner last night was delicious, served promptly and very fairly priced ( a novelty here in Phoenix where it's getting to be hard to find a restaurant that serves anything but mediocre food at astronomical prices...). The setting was beyond charming with my favorite feature, a fireplace, burning brightly close to our table. The inside vibe was cozy and quiet, but the bar and outside tables were definitely lively! Love the ambiance of this place! But the best part was charity, the Bartendar. Personable, professional and amazing cocktails. She said hi and was welcoming as soon as I walked in the door, something that is a dying art form. She recommended drinks, but made a killer dirty martini with blue stuffed olives. when my fam was in town we came to the orchard because we heard great thing. They were packed so we sat at the bar which we dont mind and the atmosphere was great.. we had the mob ties pizza and dynamite shrimp that was recommended with a bottle of wine. They had a pizza and wine deal for $35 so figured why not. Definitely worth it. Charity was great at making us feel welcome and guiding us through the whole experience very. Went to Orchard Tavern and it thoroughly exceeded our expectations! It was their soft opening and we wanted some appetizers and drinks. We were really impressed by the ambiance! Fire in the fireplace, great decor, and decorated for Christmas. We ordered two Whiskey Sours and they were excellent. For the appetizer, we had the "Glorified Potato skins" which were excellent with a bit of spice, in other words, perfect! For the main entree we shared the "Prime Time Pizza." Again they knocked it out of the park. All the staff was excellent, attentive, and friendly. Shout out to Ken and Andy!! On this particular evening, I was gifted a delicious martini by Charitye that consisted of cold brew coffee and Amaretto. Coffee toffee martini is the name I believe. It is worth tasting. After ordering/eating the Margherita & Pepperoni Wood Fire Pizza along w: Sweet Chili Crispy Shrimp & Blister Brussels, I was quickly convinced that this super cozy atmosphere would be my new go to Restaurant in all of ARIZONA! The ambiance was riveting and the drinks were delicious! The service was excellent & the soft music was so calming. Disgustingly filthy, unsanitary restaurant! My daughter, a friend and I had the worst experience ever at the Orchard. We were seated at an outside table that was partially in the sun, but the waiter opened an umbrella to provide shade. So far so good. We ordered our food and then they turned on misters that caused water to stream off the umbrella getting us wet. We moved to another table, which was fine. Our water glasses arrived and they were dirty; one even had lipstick on it. After that our waiter brought three plates for sharing an appetizer, but the plates were dirty. The top plate in the stack looked okay, but the second and third plates actually had food on them. Obviously the plates were simply cleared from another table and brought directly to us. Since we were given dirty glasses and plates, I had to wonder what was going on in the kitchen. Needless to say we left without eating and we will never return. If there were a rating for "TERRIBLE", that's what I would have chosen. read more

We visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 and there were only a handful of people in the restaurant so we sat at the bar. They only offer brunch at that time and they told us they would stope serving food at 3 and then start serving dinner at 4. We placed a cocktail order and the cocktails were Ok, but the bartender told us that the menu wasn't totally accurate for the ingredients in the drinks which seemed odd. Then he disappeared for 20 minutes and we started getting a little concerned that we wouldn't get our food order in on time because nobody checked on us even though they weren't busy and several staff members were standing around. We were finally able to flag someone down to order, and when the food came it was not good. My husband's burger was ordered medium rare and came out very well done. My salad had a lot of brown/pink lettuce and I was picking it out to try to eat around it. The bartender asked what I was picking out, so I told him some of the lettuce was going bad, and he just walked away without saying anything. We had to flag down a bartender to get our check after we were done as well. I'm not sure what went wrong, but in comparison to the experience of other reviewers, ours was really terrible. read more

We loved our dinner here from start to finish. The outdoor seating with misters was excellent on a hot day. We had three different appetizers that all came out quickly and were delicious. The pretzel bites were my personal favorite. Cocktails (butterfly tea?) and beers (amber ale and some rotating local ones) were great, too. We had a variety of entrees from pizza to sandwiches to steak and all were excellent. We were helped by both Renee and Paris who were incredibly attentive and made sure we always had plenty of water, answered our questions about items in ways they showed they were experts on the menu, and were both highly personable while getting their jobs done effectively and efficiently -- exactly what you would want from serving staff. Their gluten-free (GF) pizza crust is back to usual! Life is good again. For a few weeks they were using a replacement crust (supplier issues) and it tasted like every other restaurant's crust. Orchard Tavern's GF buns have the right taste and texture too. If I'm not ordering pizza, I'm getting one of their burgers. My husband has tried many items on their menu and is always pleased. We've been waiting for this walking distance spot to open and it did not disappoint. The patio space is exactly what this neighborhood needs and the service was spot on (thanks to our awesome server Renee). We stopped in for happy hour and ordered the Avant-Garde and the Teddy Raspberry, both were great but the Avant-Garde will be our go to cocktail. The Green Chili Stew, while more like a soup than a stew was perfectly spicy and flavorful and the Little Gem Salad with the lemon vinaigrette was pleasantly fresh and satisfying.
