Oreganos is a once in a year sort of thing for me. Here in Tucson there are better mom and pop places to have pizza, pasta, or pizza cookies. However, there have been many a night when a pizookie has seemed like the idea. Every night regrettable. Not because they aren't delicious.... oh no because they are incredibly delicious. If you like sugary and high caloric foods this in the dessert for you. Never have a I ever been able to finish one. I would say that the portions are extremely large and can be shared. In addition, the deep dish pizza is not my favorite. I would go here if it was the only place around and I had a large group of persons to feed. read more

Not even sure the pizza we had this week deserves 2 stars. We ordered to pick up and yes it was ready. Cold on arrival home. And completely burned all around. Middle was less burned but dry and overcooked. I would have driven back with it, but, embarrassingly, we had bragged about the pizza and had invited friends to share. This was my first time visiting Oregano's Restaurant, 100 W Orange Grove Rd. Tucson, AZ 85704. My friend had already obtained a booth. Our server showed up right away, and took my drink order. My friend ordered the Pablo Picasso Mexico Salad and I ordered the Lady is a Scampi pasta dish. They arrived quickly. My friend's salad was just a mountain of salad. I tried some of it and it was tasted like fresh ingredients with a light dressing. She said it had a little "zing" to it with regard to spiciness. My dish had a huge about of corkscrew pasta with many large cooked shrimp on top. Mine also came with a buttered slice of bread. The portions were just enormous and they bring a "to go" container at the end assuming you will need it. The noise level was low. I could not hear any music inside the restaurant, but as we were leaving there was loud Jazzy type music playing outside. There were also old black and white movies being shown on the TV screens located around the restaurant. The server was friendly and was on top of things, offering my friend another iced tea when she was out. The dress was very casual. The place was clean. The cost of the food was moderate. I wish Oregano's would expand outside of Arizona. The food isn't truly authentic and definitely not the best Italian food I've ever had. But the food is consistently good. The portions are HUGE!!! Each dish could easily feed 2 big eaters. And the price is cheap. My husband was stationed in Arizona twice - 2002 & 2011. Back in 2002, we were a young couple with limited funds. Oregano's became our "special occasion" place. A meal with plenty of leftovers would run us about $20. The price thankfully hasn't increased that much since then. In 2011, I noticed that the Zany Ziti was baked in a pie crust. I'm not a fan of this change. But I still like the dish. Another favorite is the Italian gold wings. The pizzas are also quite tasty. And another must is the calamari. When we were in town for work recently, we could have gone to a better restaurant. But we wanted to take a stroll down memory lane & came here. Oregano's has great Italian food and it is worth every penny. This place is usually packed to check yelp to see what the wait is before showing up. I have been to Oregano's multiple times and this is the second time I have had issues. We asked to be seated outside since the wait was about 30 minutes. The downside was it was 105* out. We were sitting outside for 15 minutes (timed, not exaggerated) before my girlfriend called the restaurant to ask them to send someone for our drink order. 3 minutes later someone finally came out and took our water order. We ordered our appetizer and the manager brought it out, unprompted and offered to comp our appetizer and dessert. A awesome gesture to save the customer service. I ordered the Zany Ziti and it is amazing. Ziti in a bread bowl in an amazing sauce with garlic bread. I get this every time I go and have never been let down. Also the appetizer was delicious and was enough to enjoy and take some home. The price is so affordable. The appetizer is 4.99 w/ cheese and our meals were no more than 10 a person. Overall 4/5. We did not take the manager up on his dessert offer but we did get our appetizer for free as promised. He saved a bad review The food was great as always and I had no complaints once someone actually got to our table. I could not give 5 solely because this is the second time I had customer service related issues. Just a heads up to future customers you may experience some delays and service issues but great food and I recommend checking this place out. read more

Love this place. The decor is spot-on with the 40-50's influence and the food has never been less than excellent and this is from someone who lived in Sicily. Now I know why it's always packed at Oregano's! Our "Dining Trio" (Gary-husband, mom and I) visited here for our first culinary experience. It was hopping. We got there early enough that we were seated immediately. A friendy hostess showed us to our booth, where we studied the large menu, full of pizza, salads and other dish options. Pizzas are obviously a draw here. We had a young, very friendly and capable server. Gary loved his antipasto, served as a salad instead of separate items on a plate-arriving on a huge, oblong plate with a light olive oil-vinegar dressing. Really good. Mom's salad (I forget the name) was also tasty. I dined on the lasagna, a good and very dense version. I really liked the pasta sauce they used. We also ordered a thin-crust pizza, so we could try the goods in full (and boy, were we full!). The pizza was really big and good-the crust was like a lavosh crust. A little pricey but great, and they obviously used fresh herbs (true to the Oregano name). Decor is the "old" hip antique-y look. My mom got a kick out of the NY Post magazine cover reprints from the 40-s and 50s, framed and hung all over our section. She had read them as news in her day and age, and she remembered some of them. (Talk about feeling like an antique!) Easy parking, fun menu, upbeat, good eats. We'll be back! read more

Woo hoo! Yippee! I am so glad that Oregano's is finally open near me! It was packed as we anticipated but were able to sit at the bar. The bartenders were very friendly and the service was very good. Our only complaint is that we ordered 2 appetizers and an entree to share. We received the first one (toasted ravioli) and 30 seconds later our entree arrived - not cool. Then when we were almost finished eating, the 2nd appetizer (bruschetta) arrived - the person who brought it out gave some lame excuse that "it wasn't perfect the first time so I made the kitchen re-do it" and we didn't believe that for a minute since it showed up literally 30 minutes later. The ravioli and the pasta dish were absolutely wonderful but we would never have the brushcetta again - the tomatoes were cut too large making it too hard to eat and it was a bit salty. read more

I love this place, it is on my weekly rotation for lunch. I typically get a house salad and have chicken added to it with and iced tea. I have however had wings, a personal pizza, the big beef sandwich, and all of the other salads. Try the golden wings. The personal pizzas at lunch are fantastic. Everything is delish, I am serious. The service is usually pretty good and they are good about refilling drinks. My favorite part - I get a large cup of my tea to go - SOLID. If you go here during peak dinner hours be prepared to wait. Excellent food and a great experience. I was impressed from the get go with the Boom Dip. When my Italian Flag Lasagna came, I was blown away. Service was good for the size of our party. We had ten to twelve people spread across three tables. Our waiter definitely took care of us throughout the night. Other meals in our party included spicy sausage subs, eggplant parmesan, and salads. I did not hear any complaints that night. I would definitely come back again. Oregano's is a local-ish chain with restaurants all over Arizona. We finally came to eat here the other night after a couple of times of driving elsewhere given the looong waits. On a Saturday night at 6pm we waited for about 25 minutes, but luckily there were seats at the bar so had drinks to keep us occupied. They serve cocktails-- the Moscow Mule was pretty good, though a tad too sweet. We shared the garlic bread with cheese which was delicious. It's a large long french one coated with cheese that you tear off. They have three types of pizza: thin crust, pan pizza, and stuffed pizza We got the 12" (smallest) thin crust pizza to share, which was ample; our friends shared a 18" and barely ate half of it. We had the Sprocolli which was super delicious. Really, one star off because we ordered their pan pizza once for take-out and it was not good at all. I was tempted by the stuffed pizza, but its advertised as taking 40 minutes and who wants to wait 40 minutes after a half hour wait! Tons of pasta options as well. Our Pesto Penne Baked was bland and only had hint of pesto -- it looked green enough in pictures, but didn't taste pesto-ey enough, and other than the pasta at the top near the cheese, the rest was nearly tasteless. It also came in this hard bread bowl that added nothing to the dish. We actually made our own pesto and added it to our leftovers. I tried a bit of my friend's Diablo Shrimp Pasta which was pretty good and had a nice zing of flavor to it. Overall, fun atmosphere, family friendly. Good service. read more

Not impressed with this place. Went here on a Thursday night after driving 4 hours into town. Waitress was pretty much ditzy and all over the place. We ordered a side salad after asking about the size and got a giant oversized salad. We ordered a full pizza with meatballs and after asking waitress about meatball size they arrived full size huge and too spicy. Drinks were very watery and the music atmosphere was very loud to the point we couldn't hear each other talking. Pass on this one. read more

I really love Oregano's and their food. They are not shy on portions and the price point if right on. Staff is always friendly! But why do I have to compete with the music? I love music. I'm from the 80's and still believe in cranking it up. But music in a restaurant should be in the background. It is so loud it is impossible to have a conversation with your table. I don't want other parties listening to my conversation, nor do I want to listen to other tables. I'll definitely be back but I'll ask for a quiet area. read more

Oro Valley Restaurant Mystery Part 2 Before heading to this place, my wife and another couple friends of ours had gone to a Mexican restaurant around 7:30pm to have dinner. It was a horrid experience and by now our appetites were screaming for food. We thought we were in luck when we saw Oreganos and half empty parking lot. We entered through the outdoor seating and were able to get a great view of all the empty tables as we strolled to the hostess stand to check in. We were greeted by 3 employees who promptly but courteously informed us the wait to be seated was looking to be around 20-25 minutes. Seriously? There were more employees than customers and there was a 20-25 minute wait? I have no clue how good the food was. There didnt seem to be a labor shortage at this place. But this was the second establishment within a couple blocks that seemed reluctant to serve customers. We declined and headed up the road still in search of food. read more

The thin crust pizzas are really good. 18" is huge and can feed 4-5 depending on appetites. I always appreciate being able to get half one flavor and half of another as I like variety. This was my first visit to the newer Oregano's location on Orange Grove, next to Swensens. Awesome! I got there with my dad before the lunch crowd kicked in, because Oreagno's can get BUSY. We got kind of a weird table next to the server's area so it was a little congested. But Oregano's has nice lunch specials and today it was a huge pizza slice of the day, and this is a massive pizza! My dad had to take it home. And it was like under six bucks. I got the never-ending Bollo pasta with marinara sauce. I did not get a never-ending follow up dish however because it was quite filling. My mouth wanted more, my tummy said NO! It also had a couple of pieces of bread. I would enjoy a bit more marinara sauce on the pasta but it was tasty. I polished it off with a big glass of ice tea. Oregano's is a fine place to go with a big appetite, but be prepared because it gets busy here. read more

Great service, great food, great price. Can't beat it. I was only told about this place just recently and before I never believed it was better than Olive Garden. Until I gave it a try. The servers are really nice. Nice sense of humor and will joke around with you. They are also very kind and make sure you are always happy. I know it took me awhile to order but my server was patient to wait and check back 3-4 times. (I know I can be very indecisive at times). The food I had was delicious. I just finished the gym and was looking for a healthy dish so I wouldn't back track my workout haha. I ordered a salad but not any ordinary salad. It was the beef bistro salad which was filling and if you get the "Real Big" portion it is definitely enough. The salad was flavorful and did not seem like there was any dressing on it. I have lived in Tucson 29 years and had never tired Oreganos until last week. Wow was I surprised at how delicious everything we ordered was just so amazing. We got the Favorite salad, meatball appetizer, Shrimp Diablo, Bakes Ziti, and the kiddos had the kids spaghetti and meatballs. All I can say is that it's defiantly on my list must haves now. The take out for Covid was wonderfully done. Their to go containers are very durable, and they didn't skimp on anything. The overall quality of the produce and protein was very good!!! The Location: Orange Grove/Oracle. Near Tucson Mall. Good location. Easy to get in and out of as far as the parking lot. The Food: The food was not too bad. Once I actually received mine it was not bad. I don't think its as great as everyone says it is but I can just say "Meh..." I ordered the Wings while my wife got one of the salads and the kids ordered Angel Hair Pasta. The Service: The service was the worst thing about the meal. The waiter was forgetting just about everything and it took him forever to get back to the table. This may not have been his fault though as more of the management. They seemed to have had him at too many tables all spread apart. Overall: I had a bad experience tonight and this is the third time. After this, I am not going back. For some reason they cannot get their food "timing" correct. My wife's and my kids food came out within about 15 minutes. My wife finished her entire "dinner" size salad and my kids finished their food before mine even came out. I basically had to watch them eat and they had to watch me eat. This is the third time its happened with different dishes. I just don't understand what is going on with this place. Be careful of the portions - they're huge!! It's definitely a good place to go with a large group of people and share. They also have friendly and attentive service. However, I gave this restaurant four stars out of five because the food isn't amazing - I would describe it as a "step up" from Applebee's. Other people might disagree, so I would recommend trying it out if you haven't been here! Bottom line, I had great experiences and memories, but I personally wouldn't go out of my way to seek out pizza from Oregano's. 5 adults and 2 yr old arrived at Oregenos on Oracle Rd location per my recommendation about 4:30 Friday evening. I wanted to bring out of town family for a nice Italian meal. They don't take reservations so we decided on an early dinner. 2 yr olds no matter how well mannered do not do well with hr long waits. Being first in line and with a half empty restaurant we were still forced to wait no less than 45 min. Expensive tall draft beers kept us comfortable until I started calling other nearby restaurants. Hostess station was staffed with 3 indifferent girls. Finally seated we ordered apps. The calmari used to be very good fresh pieces w tentacles etc. What we received were greasy obviously pre frozen dark brown processed substitute cubes. Horrible. For dinner wife and I ordered "bowl a pasta", it is supposed come with a refill if desired. That was never offered from our " Kurt" demeanored waitress. My mom had lasagna which was literally a piled mess. It didn't taste good to her or others at table and she didn't eat it. We also ordered cheese bread with tomatoes and side of meatballs which were both good. Despite the indifferent service and disagreeable food my Mom still tipped 20%, too much I think. The 3 of us had indigestion problems not sure about other 2 adults. I used to frequent Oregenos when I lived in another part of AZ. I always enjoyed the food ambiance value and service. This place gives you tons of food, and the interior is a nice touch for those wanting a unique dine-in experience. Oregano's has famously big salads. It's actually a little ridiculous. But the ingredients are super fresh and I challenge anyone to finish and entire "Big Salad" in one sitting. Their traditional Italian cuisine is also really good and made in large portions. I've had pasta and pizza, and both were great. You get more than you pay for. Lastly, the inside of the restaurant: It's really red, somewhat noisy, and the layout is cool, with clusters of tables and booths in different nooks throughout. They also have old school, black-and-white TV shows going, though I've never paid much attention to it. This place is a great take-out option, too, especially if it's on the weekend. If you come on a Friday or Saturday around dinner time, expect to wait at least 20 minutes, if not more. read more

Ate at the Oregano's on Speedway and the food was fantastic. My big complaint was tried to make reservations in advance and was told they do not do Reservations. While waiting for 45 minutes we noticed a few people come into the waiting area and go directly inside. I inquired about this to the young lady at the check in desk and she mentioned they do let people call ahead and be put on a "approximate time" list. I inquired as to what makes that different from a "Reservation " She did her best trying to explain but did not clear things up. Realized they are very short staffed as the Bartender also was our waiter and bus boy. But either you accept or not accept advance reservations but not this "approximate time list" BS Hate to watch one of our favorite eateries be so poorly managed. read more

Happy to report I went back to Oregano's with my family and had an excellent experience. The food was great just as it was last time but the customer service was much better this time. Our waiter was very attentive to us and make sure did not have any wants or worries so kudos to Oreganos for earning my 5 star rating. I had the Scampi which was awesome and some fried zucchini because everything is better when it's fried. Definitely will be coming back again to enjoy more of their interesting menu read more
