Ive never heard of that before and am a big fan - I might even ask for a second next time! Great smokiness to the pasta, and it's not like others I've had where there isn't sufficient protein. I took leftovers home. Husband ordered the agnolotti with a side of two meatballs and he really enjoyed it, saying it reminded him of his childhood. The bread served upon sitting was soft and a great vessel for their olive oil and balsamic glaze mix which they add garlic to for a tangy taste. The golden beet salad was also delicious and tasted very fresh. I kind of wish it came prepared in a bowl, whereas this one seems a bit deconstructed, but that's a small thing. Dessert was a ricotta cheesecake with strawberry syrup that was also great. Good slice size, too. I went last week for my birthday based on a friend's recommendation, and it did not disappoint! We ordered the cherry margarita and goat cheese appetizer off of the happy hour menu. I was skeptical about the margarita, but it was delish and just the right level of sweetness! I knew the goat cheese would be tasty based off of the reviews, and it was. I ordered the spaghetti with meatball off of the happy hour menu, while my mom ordered a tasty mushroom and ricotta dish off of the dinner menu. We were both incredibly happy with our choices. Mine was the perfect size with even a bit leftover to take for lunch the next day. My mom had a ton leftover after being completely sated. They even brought me a hefty piece of lovely tiramisu with a candle for my birthday. The real star, though, was the chocolate cake my mom ordered. Yum! The atmosphere is lovely and open but a bit loud due to how busy it was even early in the evening on a Wednesday. I strongly recommend a reservation. And our server was friendly and attentive. I absolutely love a complementary bread service, especially with Italian food it feels like a must. The meals were a smidge over-salted, though this made them reheat very very well the following day. The salad was simple but delicious, and there was generous cheese in the eggplant. The pastas were near flawless, minus that salt element but I really didn't mind. Yesterday I came and had 2 margaritas (delicious! You will need a reservation, as the place can get quite crowded. Dinner on a Sunday evening had a good flow of people coming and going. We were seated on the outside patio. The interior of the restaurant is loud, making it difficult to hear conversations. However, the outside patio may not have the most comfortable chairs, but it does facilitate a better conversation flow without the need to shout across the table. Our party ordered the following: Bruschetta ($15.00), Margherita Pizza ($16.00), Pork Marsala ($27.00), Cannelloni ($18.00). For the bruschetta, you get to pick two, and we chose the calabrian pepper jam and goat cheese, and the pear tomatoes with fresh basil. The pepper jam and goat cheese was the favorite! The individual eating the pork marsala raved about it being extremely delicious. The individual eating the cannelloni said it was ok, and not something they would order again. The margherita pizza was scrumptious....the crust was soooo good! Our waiter, Robert, was very attentive at first and then unfortunately he got slammed with tables in other areas including the bar area, which then decreased the amount of service we received. We came here celebrating a birthday. It was most of the party's 1st time there. Total we had 9 adults, 2 teens and 3 under 5. They sat us in a nice area that was like a private room but it had windows looking outside on the back patio. Everything we ordered was very delicious with the exception of 3 things. The kids Mac n cheese was not that good. I understand it is for children but it had little to no flavor and was like they used a white velveeta. The kids spaghetti was alright but it also had no real seasoning or flavor. I had ordered the Orrecchiette, and although it was nice in flavor, it wasn't anything special. We drove two hours to eat here--and this was our third visit--so that alone should tell you how much we enjoy this restaurant. It's become a destination for us. Keri has been our server the last two times, and she always makes us feel welcome and well taken care of. Our meal started with mini chocolate muffins placed on the table, and they were absolutely delicious. The garlic rolls are some of the best I can remember--warm, flavorful, and hard to stop eating. The Caesar salad was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of dressing. It normally comes with white anchovies, but we opted to leave them off. My favorite dish on the menu is the bucatini carbonara, and if you've read my other reviews, you know carbonara is one of my favorite dishes anywhere. This one definitely did not disappoint. The pasta was excellent, and the perfectly cooked breaded egg oozed beautifully when sliced, bringing everything together. On past visits I've ordered the Calabrese hamburger from the lunch menu, and it was terrific as well--another standout dish. For dessert we split the rum baba and the crème brûlée, and both were wonderful endings to a fantastic meal. read more

This place blew my mind for SONORAN RESTAURANT WEEK!!!!! Nothing but praises. We came at 12pm on Saturday but to our dismay the menu is supposed to only be available for dinner. This was not on their website or the official Sonoran restaurant week web page. They honored it which was step in the right direction. They were crispy on the outside and deliciously smooth and creamy on the inside. They could have had more flavor, the green chile and other spices were faint. I had a better batch than my friend but I agreed it could have had more chile and salt. The marinara that accompanied them was a hard pass completely overpowered the flavors. Second course was the cilantro lime linguine with porchetta. Since I've gotten it I've wept. It was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!! Omg just 10/10 I absolutely loved it. The flavors were so interesting and unique but melded so well together. A perfectly executed concept that highlighted traditional Mexican flavors with a twist. Dessert.....bruh. Haven't stopped thinking about the tres leches tiramisu since. What a knockout way to end the meal. They already have the best tiramisu in Tucson. But the addition of the tres leches cake under the tiramisu was INSANE!!!! I loved this so much I even called to see if I could order a slice and the woman said no. It's just on the restaurant week menu. I was heartbroken. The beauty of restaurant week is to see how flavors of the Sonoran desert can be honored and brought to life. This absolutely did that. Only two stars because the service was great. Our server was great and attentive! I was missing my protein from my salad and she brought it promptly and was super nice. The food was a hard miss, I've been on my search to find decent Italian food in Tucson and wow I feel like I was let down very hard today. My husband got the Alfredo and it was very basic it was one of the most bland Alfredo's I've ever had. I did have my salad with a side of goat cheese and we added that into the Alfredo and it was 10x better. I had an arugula salad, the strawberries had been prepped WAY in advance it was like the strawberries that have been sitting in a pre cut fruit container at Walmart. They forgot the porchetta and the server brought a side right away and it was SO DRY and like tiny pieces of very dry Jerky, they obviously have this prepped somewhere and stored in a walk in for who knows how long which is why it's dried out probably. The salad dressing was very good however and the only reason I kept eating the salad. Overall super disappointing experience minus the quick service. read more

We walked in for a birthday celebration (for myself) at 6:18, for a 6:30 reservation. It was very loud when we walked in. The gal at the front was incredibly rude. My honey had to say his name three times then she asked for his last name. She glared at him then looked down at her screen, made some obnoxious faces and then said wait while we get that ready. We were seated at our table and waited about 10 minutes before someone came to offer water and bread. The server finally came and he was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the ribeye, the pork Marsala and a side of brussels. Everything was fantastic aside from the mashed potatoes that were not cooked all the way and very bland in flavor. We loved everything. It was all so flavorful. The pork was amazing! It was so moist and perfectly cooked. The ribeye was perfectly seared. We then ordered the pineapple coconut slice for dessert and were given the tiramisu to go for my birthday treat. The pineapple cake was phenomenal. It had an amazing flavor and wasn't overly sweet. Our waiter was awesome. He was very personable. Overall, the food is fantastic and we will be back. But it is so incredibly loud in there. I came here for happy hour with a friend on Friday night. I highly recommend making a reservation if you'd prefer to sit in the restaurant rather than the bar area--happy hour pricing is available in both. I tried three of the drink specials: The Cherry Italian Margarita was good but seemed a bit weak. The White Negroni tasted like black licorice at first, but it grew on me by the end. I really didn't like the Bicicletta Spritz--it just wasn't for me. As for food: The Fritto Misto was tasty but came out cold and the portion was very small for happy hour. The Prawns Fra Diavolo were good and flavorful but very spicy, also a small portion. The Chicken Spiedini was delicious, a little on the sweet side, but a better portion size for happy hour. My friend had the Spaghettini with Meatball, which she enjoyed, and the happy hour portion was surprisingly large. I've been going here for years and this is one of the best Italian food restaurants in Tucson. Happy hour is every day they are open from 4-7 pm. Highly suggest making a reservation online in advance as it always seems to be busy even on weeknights and is generally loud inside. They have both indoor seating and outdoor seating with heat lamps. Bread is always included with a balsamic olive oil garlic dip when you are first seated. Some of my favorite menu items are the lamb lollipop's with prickly pear reduction from the bar menu, agnolotti pasta, and red sauce linguine marina, which has a generous portion of seafood. For dessert the tiramisu and cannolis are both good, but my favorite item is the Pope's Pillow. Additionally, they have plenty of parking onsite in the attached lot. Helpful Hint: Don't have a late dinner on a Sunday night since they are always closed Mondays and may be sold out of some menu items. read more

Service great :-) Only fourth time there in a couple years or so. But the dish I go there to get, Gnocchi Sorrentina, the last time they put parsley not basil. This time it's the same name dish on the menu, but the menus says Pomodoro sauce (not the sauce this dish should have but I was being treated to a dinner, didn't want to say anything ), and Alfredo sauce? :-( And when I said please no parsley, use Basil, it needed to be written down for that adjustment. This was our first time at Bottega Michelangelo. The parking lot is under construction so you may have to park on dirt but don't let that deter you. It is absolutely worth it! The restaurant is a great blend of indoor/outdoor accommodations. The atmosphere is very lively. It was about 5 pm when we checked in. The bar area was packed, will have to check out their happy hour in the future. We chose indoor seating and started with mussels and calamari. Oh my goodness... absolutely mouthwatering. The mussels were served in a rich, red sauce with blue cheese topped bruschetta. The calamari were fried and surrounded by a delicious creamy sauce with peppers. The flavors were well balanced in both dishes. The mussels were sweet and paired well with the funky blue cheese. The calamari were lightly crispy and the creaminess of the sauce was fantastic. For entrees we had risotto, tortelloni, and linguine marina bianco. Each entree was superb. The sweet pop of peas in the creamy risotto, the tender langistinos and fruitiness of the calabrian peppers in the tortelloni and the linguine loaded with seafood and light clam sauce were all wonderful! In the pics you can see the generous portion sizes. One entree came out a bit later than the others but we appreciated the urgency from our server and the kitchen to get it out quickly! I went here Tuesday evening with a friend for Sonoran restaurant week. I was very saddened when the server explained that they were all out of the restaurant week. I was also confused, as the special is just a week and did not understand how it could run out so early on in the week. I was disappointed that there was no option to substitute something as this is the sole reason I came to this restaurant. Ordering off the menu we also found that there were many things the restaurant was also out of, in addition to the restaurant week menu, such as the carbonara pasta I was going to order, and then a desert we asked about as well (It may have been a different dish they were out of, my memory is a bit cloudy since it's been a couple weeks now, but there were AT LEAST 2 more items we asked about that were out). I decided to order the cannnelloni dish to try something new. It was not bad, but I don't think I would order it again. It also seemed like a pretty small portion to me to come all by itself. The garlic rolls I ordered were amazing however, as well as the bread and oil they initially serve you. The array of desserts they have is impressive and on display when you initially arrive to the restaurant. This was my 2nd time at my restaurant and the second time I left feeling ehhh.
