I ordered delivery and was initially a bit worried they wouldn't deliver to me since I'm located in midtown and they're in Muldoon; but they delivered! Woooo! They told me 40min-1hr. It took them about 35 mins from the time I ordered and my yelp tells me it's also a 16 min drive to the restaurant from my house, so kudos to them to start off. I should've taken a photo of the bag the delivery guy had with him cause holy hell it was GIANT. I knew I spent a bit of $ on my order since all Chinese food up here is expensive.. but when I opened it up, I was not ready for what my eyes were about to see.... Super HUGE portions, literally like 8 boxes of full food. And when I think of takeout I always think of those lil red and white takeout boxes like something off of sex and the city but were these those lil boxes? NO. They were much more than that.. they were the large square to go boxes FULL of food. Every single one of them full. I've never had much faith or fortune in Chinese food up here in AK, but man.. their food is BOMB! The sweet and sour chicken was so yummy, and not orangey at all. I like authentic sweet and sour sauce and theirs definitely lived up to my expectation. The chicken fried rice was so moist and had so many lil pieces of chicken, I don't see why anyone would ever need to ask for extra meat. I'm not a fan of Chinese food where the meat is buried underneath the bread/coating and their s&s chicken and gen. tso chicken was not too greasy or breaded at all! Plenty of sauce where needed and overall too damn good. Even their steamed rice was moist yet not clumpy and stuck together from sitting in a rice cooker. This place wins in every area. hats off to oriental garden. Y'all made some damn good food. I ordered crab Rangoon, orange chicken, vegetable lo mein and general Tso/Mongolian beef combo. I was charged 48$ for these things for a pick up order. When I got home to eat my food and I didn't get the combo. So I politely called back and asked if something on my order was messed up. They said for 48 dollars I ordered orange chicken, vegetable lo mein and crab rangoons. Simple math based off the multiple menus listed put my order at somewhere between 32-36$. They either lied about messing up my order or missed what I ordered and charged me 10+ dollars for nothing. I don't recommend ordering take out from here because they seem dishonest. Food is decent, maybe in person would be a better experience but I won't be finding out. read more

NEVER order from here! They are soooo rude, and when THEY screw up and forget your food, they accuse you of lying. Ridiculous! I ordered for my mom, who is going through chemo and can't eat much, and they forgot one of two items. I went here because my husband suggested it and when I pulled up I didn't have high hopes but to my surprise it was delicious! I've only lived in Alaska a few years and haven't found a good Chinese restaurant but this place was simply amazing! I've been here at least a handful of times in the last few months and that's only because I live across town. I've had their mongolian beef, sweet & sour chicken, egg rolls and fried rice and it was legit Chinese food! Great Asian food for a good price. I've tried about 5 other places near by and this is the best for sure. Delivery usually takes around an hour so make sure you order before you're hangry. For my 3 star review - We have been very fond of the restaurant. The food is pretty decent. We usually get the family meal for the two of us. It is $18.95 per person and comes with chicken teriyaki, Mongolian beef (sometimes tastes more like peppered beef but good), fried rice, sweet and sour pork, and an appetizer of 2 egg rolls cut, 2 shrimp, and 4 pieces of BBQ pork. So tonight when we come in with 3 people we do the family dinner for 3 which adds another $18.95 and sesame chicken to the above order. The appetizer came and instead of adding an egg roll, a shrimp, and 2 pieces of pork - which would make sense since we are paying for an extra person....It came with the exact same amount as for when we paid for 2. Seems very odd so now you have that whole dividing/odd numbers. Wonder what you get when you do 4 or 5 people...Pretty disappointing. They said that oh we get extra fried rice...Oh yippie! Next time we will just order a separate order of sesame chicken and stick to 2 person dinner. It will probably be cheaper. 19 days later we came back - it's 5 star worthy! This place never disappoints!! The food is extremely flavorful and truly the best place in anchorage for Chinese. We often order delivery service and the staff who answer the phone are incredibly friendly and accommodating to specific requests made. Highly recommend the Moo Shu Chicken as well as their Mongolian beef!!! If you are vegetarian they have several menu options available that are certainly filled with interesting and complex flavors. This place is so good. Literally one of the only places that will deliver on post. You get a ton of food for your money and it is worth every penny. They'll adjust anything you order to your spice preference....we like our Chinese food HOT, so it's amazing to find a place that will actually accommodate it. Places is brand new but the food is really good, was surprised by how good actually considering. I got the general tso's and I've also had the beef yakisoba, both I would get again which also makes me want to try other dishes. It can be a little slow because the staffing is short however they are extremely friendly and customer oriented, that coupled with the good food I give it a 5. More people come to eat here the better the business will become. I encourage you to try it out. read more

We ordered Mongolian beef, which was some of the best I have ever had and the general tso chicken was also very delicious. Also, the crab Rangoon was fantastic!!!!! We ordered delivery and they quoted about 45 minutes and it took about that long if not less... My only complaint is the lo mein. I'm from the Midwest and southern part of the country and lo mein isn't a soupy mess. We ordered shrimp lo mein and it was thick noodles in a soup like consistency; absolutely disgusting. We will definitely order from there again but never the noodle options. Overall, this place is definitely worth your time and money. Very unlikely you will have disappointment! read more

Service- one star Food- three stars Here's why. I order Spicy Squid for take out at 6 pm. 10-15 minutes I'm told by a mature womans voice. I show up about 6:15, not too busy, one couple at a table. Young woman (not the same voice on phone) at the register has nothing on her screen about my order. Goes to kitchen and speaks with older woman (phone, I'm guessing) and comes back saying it is on it's way. Uh huh. Phone get busy and she takes 3 deliveries. Diners are taken care of (good). 6:30, still no food. 6:35 two of those delivery orders walk out with a driver. 6:40, third delivery comes out and then they give me mine. Yep, after all that I was bumped until after those orders. Food. I've lived in Korea and Spicy Squid is a mainstay. It's on their menu as a specialty too. It was OK, but nothing more. Not sure if it was even squid, it was much thicker and squshier than any I've ever had. Different type or maybe octopus? The food the seated customers looked great. read more

The food here is excellent and I would visit again. However, they seem to be understaffed; upon entering, there was no staff visible in the entire restaurant. I had to wait more than five minutes to be greeted at the door and then I waited quite a while to get my order taken. They were super friendly and attentive when they had time. I asked for hot tea (as you do at a Chinese restaurant) and expected something like oolong or jasmine but, instead, was served something that smelled like steeped brown rice and had no flavor. I didn't drink it, despite my cup being refilled. I understand that this is a new restaurant and that there will be growing pains. If the owners can address the deficiencies I mentioned, the Oriental Garden has the potential to be a real asset to the city. read more

Anchorage has a huge pile of Asian restaurants, but ironically, not many that serve decent Chinese food. I've, at one point or another, eaten at almost all of them. IMHO, this and Charlie's are two of the current best choices. The building used to be the bizzaro Korean-Mexican fusion joint Casa, but changed to Oriental Garden in the last year. Missed out on Casa, but have ordered delivery (usually the family combo) from here three or four times. My order has always been delivered quickly, well ahead of their estimate, and the drivers are friendly. The food has been hot, fresh and tasty - nothing too inspired, but a solid representation of the classic Americanized Chinese dishes. Prices are reasonable and the quantity is good. My first choice for delivery Chinese in Anchorage for sure. I need to get around to trying it in person one of these days too... read more

We ordered and sat on the benches waiting for our food but she insisted that we sit in the booths for more comfort. I have searched high and low for a Chinese restaurant I really like here in Anchorage, and this one fits the bill of having excellent, warm and hospitable service along with extremely tasty food. I got the combo plate with Mongolian beef, sesame chicken, fried rice and egg roll, and BOY did that hit the spot! Everything was flippin' amazing. So good we had to come back one more time the following week. My boys got chicken katsu and shrimp and veggie tempura plates and my daughter got the Teri chicken yakisoba (which was also really good). The decor is a confused mishmash of Chinese and Mexican, but the food & service quality is what really matters to us. We'll be back as often as we can for sure! read more

I order a meal from Oriental Gardens at 4:30 tonight and was told to expect a 1 hour delivery time. At 6:30 I called to find out where my food was. The person answering told me it was on its way they would check to see where the driver was. 15 minutes later it arrived. Of course it was cold and greasy (sweet and sour chicken) and it tasted cold and greasy. I had to throw it away. I called to speak with the manager and voice my concern and nicely ask for at least a refund on 1/2 of the cost (want to support local businesses but also expect something for my money) or for them to send another meal. I was told the manager/ owner was busy but would call me back. 3 hours later I called back. The owner (Susie?) got on and before I could really speak (admit by now I felt lied to and was not happy) told me my food was not late, it was not cold and they were busy. I lost it, I told her she was not listening as she continued to talk as I tried to speak, and hung up . I would not recommend this place for delivery.
