I saw this cute spot on another Yelper's feed and I decided I wanted to try them out-see what they were about. So I called my middle daughter who is still enjoying her post college mini vacation and told her to meet me there-We headed to Cafe 86 in Roseville. They are located in a little strip mall on Foothills Blvd and they have ample parking as they share a lot with other businesses. Walking in,it was a cute little shop with many tables and spots to hang out.I was mesmerized more by the vast menu of coffee drinks to choose from. My daughter ended up going with an Iced Sea Salt Coffee($3.00) and I ended up ordering an Iced Caramel Latte($6.50) As far as pastries go we got the Ube Crack Cheesecake ($5.50) The friendly gentleman working the coffee shop was great. He was the only employee and watching him take the time to be so meticulous in his coffee making skills was great. Even after delivering the drinks to us, he still checked on us to make sure we liked the taste of the drinks and if they needed any modifications like more milk or more syrup. Got to admit that was a first for me-most coffee shops just deliver the coffee drinks and that's the last you ever hear from the employees. Now for the drinks-my daughter did not like her drink at all and I knew she wouldn't. She is a 22 year old who was raised on Dutch Bros-style drinks loaded with sugar and syrups. Her drink was basically just straight coffee with some Sea Salt. Now my drink, that's a whole different story. The Iced Caramel Latte was amazeballs-it was so well made-perfect balance of creaminess and sweetness. I really enjoyed my drink-it's actually in the running as one of my Top 3 coffee drinks currently in Sacramento area. I didn't get to try the Ube Cheesecake but my daughter really enjoyed it-she is a pretty big fan of UBE anything. As a topper as we were walking out the great gentleman working the store asked us if we wanted to try another pastry free of charge-he offered us the Turon Pop Tart. I jumped at the opportunity-it tasted like sweet caramelized banana and jackfruit delivered in a flaky pastry-I'm a fan, I really enjoyed it. In closing, this place was a really cute Filipino-inspired dessert shop that makes really great coffees- My daughter enjoyed my drink so much we ended up swapping drinks. I ended up with the Sea Salt Coffee which was very enjoyable for a mature palate. They have great customer service, great coffee drinks and solid pastries-I will be back. read more

I absolutely love this cafe. So glad it's close to home. Love coming here on a very hot day and purchase either a regular Halo-Halo or the Upside Down Halo-Halo. Some may say the ice is not traditionally made, but we actually appreciate it because typical Halo-Halo comes out in chunks or like a snow cone. But their ice is crushed a little more fine - not quite like Hawaiian shaved ice. Anyways, we love how they make it. They add the right amount of jelly, boba, Ube ice cream, flan, and the frosted flakes for that crunch. All that and we still didn't think it was too sugary. I've made it a mission to try all of their ube baked desserts, and the Ube Monster Truffles are hands down the absolute best of the bunch, in my humble opinion. These cake truffles are creamy but dense, large, pleasantly textured, and dangerously addictive. We've also enjoyed their upside down halo halo (amazing), mais con yelo, ube cashew brownie, ube tres leches (so moist), ube flan cupcake, ube crack cheesecake (another winner), and bread pudding. The menu is quite large for an ube focused dessert shop, so there's many other things I need to try in the future. Online pre-ordering via Toast is a convenient option that I utilized, otherwise a worker is available to help you at the register. Customer service is friendly, even when they're busy. A handful of tables are available in the quaintly decorated shop. Location is in a strip mall with a moderate amount of parking spaces available. Is it a halo-halo? I would say traditionally no. It's more like an ube smoothie with bits in it. I do enjoy a halo-halo with finely shaved ice, but not completely smooth, so to me it wasn't really a halo-halo. It's mostly boba, I missed the kaong and coconut strings. I wanted aloe but they didn't have any so I settled for egg pudding. 3.5/5 - Milo Cupcake: the cupcake is a little on the dense side. I don't know what kind of chocolate was used but it doesn't taste like a regular chocolate cupcake. The frosting was very light and not really sweet. 3.5/5 - Ube Crack Cheesecake: the crust was very good. 4/5 SERVICE: This place was sooo busy on a Sunday afternoon. 5 stars on Yelp but 10 in my heart. Walked into Cafe 86 for the first time today and was welcomed by Ben. There is so much goodness in one display case, it's mind blowing. I had the intention of buying a gift for a friend who is hosting Thanksgiving and I ended up buying for their family and ours (cuz, duh!). What aided in my decision was not only how kind and lovely Ben was but also the fact that everything was reasonably priced. It's refreshing when the rest of the world is so.. inflated. The real moment of truth however was when I got to actually try the desserts. First I sunk my teeth into the Halo-Halo Bread Pudding with a touch of Ube ice cream. Ok fellow enthusiasts, hear me out on this? You know how in traditional Halo-Halo there are parts of it that aren't-as-great and other parts that are out-of-this-world? Well this Halo-Halo Cake dealio was all of the out-of-this-world part and non of the "meh" part. FR. Next up was the Ube Tres Leches. Ok, I took a bite and just melted. The crunchy cashew cookie that is crumbled on top is *Chef's kiss* through and through. That flavor combo is phenomenal, and the amount of moisture in this dessert is unbelievable, it's literally sitting in a gorgeous little pool of Ube Tres Leche concoction. This is one of those things you sort of wanna keep a secret because it's so amazing, but then if no one goes there, the place might shut down and that would be horrible. If you've never had an Ube truffle, you have to try one, although I'd recommend slicing little slivers of it when you eat it so you don't just take it all in one bite and then disappointed that the experience was over so quickly Another great thing here is the Ube milk tea, I wish I could have a camelback filled with that every day, I would be in such a good mood if I could walk around and just drink that whenever I wanted, although with all the caffeine, I probably would never sleep. Our favorite ube place has finally made it to nor cal! We were so excited to find this out! Whenever we're in socal, we always make a visit to cafe 86. We were so happy to find it closer to us. Tucked away in Roseville, it's definitely a trip to make. Our go to for halo halo and ube desserts. They had all the popular dessert such as ube cupcake Leche flan and ube truffles. Something about their halo halo is heaven. Although the consistency isn't as good as the one in LA the flavor is still there. We needed more of the icy texture instead of a drink. If you're a big ube fan than Cafe 86 is a must visit. We've been waiting for Cafe 86 to open forever and finally made our visit. The inside has plenty of space and tables. The menu has all kinds of ube options, from drinks, cupcakes, cheesecake, cookies and more. There's plenty of other drink flavors and couple of other flavors for their baked items. The online ordering system has these combo options with 4 baked items and a hibiscus calamansi lemonade. I knew we wanted to order that since price was it was a good value. However I couldn't find it on their menu. I asked the cashier if that was an online item only but she said I could order it in person too. So we got the combo with ube crack cheesecake and the leche flan cupcake. We also got an ube milkshake. Our order came out fast and packaged well. The lemonade was good but with the calamansi after taste. If you're not a fan of calamansi I wouldn't recommend it. But if you are, then it's a good drink. The cheesecake was rich and had the perfect amount of ube flavor. The leche flan on the cupacake was good, but I found the cupcake a little too dense for me. I felt like it's missing some couches or comfortable chairs to be able to sit and hang out. That's what I look for in a coffee shop is a good inviting vibe. Grand opening 8/16/25. They serve mainly Filipino-inspired desserts and a few sandwich options. After having a nice dinner elsewhere we came here for a sweet treat. We ordered their signature Halo Halo. Filipinos are dessert-lovers, so we have a myriad of mouthwatering treats to offer... I took a look at the menu board and mostly everything had some kind of Ube in it -- Ube truffles, Ube pop tart, Ube cashew brownie and even Ube tres leches are some of their specialty. After being teased with the sign for a while, this location has finally opened! We came in on Monday afternoon after their opening weekend & it seemed staff training was still happening. While there were some kinks in our experience, it was still a good one. Inside is roomy with natural light. It felt clean & new. Seating is at several spaced out tables & a small bar area near the entry. Plastic utensils & water are accessible to get for yourself. Upbeat music plays in the background. There are cute touches of decor & lighting. When we first entered, & then when we approached the counter, we weren't acknowledged. However, once we were, customer service from a pleasant staffer was very friendly & helpful. Their baked goods look like an ube lover's dream with lots of different tempting items available to see in their case & under cloches like cupcakes, cookies, cheesecake, truffles, pop tarts, & more. Other offerings include halo halo, milkshakes, slushes, sandwiches, & a variety of espresso, tea, & milk tea drinks. While the menu board had drink prices, I didn't see any pricing for the baked goods. We showed a little restraint & ordered a regular sized Halo Halo & an Ube Butter Bar. We were asked if we wanted all the different Halo Halo mix-ins, which can be tweaked. It was tasty & refreshing. We enjoyed all the yummy components. The leche flan was firm & creamy, the boba was soft & chewy. The Ube Bar was sweet & richly flavored with a deliciously buttery bottom layer. It was a satisfying bite & I would get it again. As a Filipino, I feel like Cafe 86 is the only coffee spot in Sac that catches the true flavor of ube in their ube flavored drinks. Their ube tastes as if it was made from ube halaya and is everything I hope for when available in a menu item. Service was quick and efficient. Grand opening for cafe 86! There was a line out the door and they had music playing with a DJ. This is a popular Filipino dessert place in Southern California and the Bay Area. When I heard they opened up their Roseville location I came close to when it opened and had to wait 1.5 hours to order. I got the upside down halo halo and some pastries to go to try later. The halo halo was delicious and upside down mixes in the ube ice cream to the base instead of a scoop of it on top. Upside down also came with corn flakes which had. A great texture with the dessert. Inside there was flan, boba and some jelly. It seems like a big dessert but it is not too heavy or sweet and can be easily finished. So excited to see this place in NorCal when I originally was first introduced to this place while going to Nursing school in SoCal. The one pastry that stood out was the ube truffles and i couldn't get that treat out of my mind and now I can enjoy them here close to home. Its a moderate size cafe and we had gone during the grand opening and it was busy but so grateful to see the Filipino community turn out. There was a wait for the treats but it didnt take away from the flavors when you take that first bite. We ordered the regular halo halo, the ube truffle and banana lanka pop tart. The halo halo was the perfect treat to end the weekend. I can't wait to get it again but try the upside down version which I heard is better. It has been a while since I had the truffle and this time around it was very rich and maybe half of one is all that it takes, and lots of milk. It didn't have the purple layer I expected since it was pre-mixed, but the flavor was spot on -- smooth coffee with a nice ube taste. My friend got a vanilla cold brew and loved it. Hard pass for me next time. Do not come here!!! I visited this location on the 4th of July, and they were completely short-staffed. There was only one young employee working, who was visibly stressed out. I placed an in-store order for three drinks and some pastries, and it took over 35 minutes to complete.About 10 minutes into my wait, a middle-aged man with short, grey, curly hair stormed in. I believe he is the owner. He came in to help clear the backlog of DoorDash orders, but he showed terrible hygiene. He completely failed to wash his hands before he started making halo-halo drinks. It is disgusting to witness someone scooping ingredients and handling orders with unwashed hands. To make matters worse, his pants were completely unzipped. He looked like he had just rolled out of bed, and it is highly unprofessional to have young kids working in an environment with someone so careless. On top of everything, he was incredibly rude and completely failed to acknowledge the customers who had been patiently waiting. The service was great the kind lady who was working was so chill answering all my questions and she made my drink and got my food with the quickness. One of the BEST ube dessert spots I've ever had. We usually pick up the ube cheesecakes, and the ube balls. They had bread pudding so we added that in as well. We absolutely love the cheesecake and the be balls with the black dusting. The inside looks like there others locations. The girl at the register was very kind, while helping us the owner came in.
