Delicious. This place truly tastes of authentic Thai food. I adore mom and pop, hole in the wall restaurants. This restaurant is tucked in the Keri Plaza. I'm traveling through this area and wanted Thai. There's another very well known Thai place I found on Yelp but wanted to give this restaurant a try instead. I'm glad I did. The service is very friendly and attentive. The decor is simple and clean. I ordered the Thai iced tea, shumei, Tom yum tofu, and drunken noodles tofu. You can taste the freshness in the food so it is definitely made to order with the use of fresh ingredients. Thai iced tea - not too sweet with a splash of half and half, perfect Shumei - nicely flavored, the sauce it came with was very good and gingery Tom yum tofu - this was sooo good, it was not overpowering of lemongrass and extremely flavorful Drunken noodles tofu - lightly sauced which is great, I've had this dish at other places and found it overwhelmingly drenched in sauce, the only complaint I have of this dish is that I wished the tofu was more crispy This should definitely be a local favorite. We had food for dinner from this place. Management was in very clean with packaging and sanitizing from pens to table. Food was very good with limited amount of spice but they can do much better in soups. Soups didn't have any spice or salt inside them. read more

Awful service. Awful take out. They quote you an hour on a single menu item and you show up and wait another half hour on a very regular basis. They are rude when you question them. This is about the 20th chance I've given them because my wife actually likes the bland food but after another night like this after waiting another HOUR upon arrival I will never do this again. I really didn't love my experience here, we've ordered takeout about 3 or 4 times since they opened and have just gotten progressively more disappointed each time. This last time we couldn't even eat the food which was particularly bad. Specifically, the pad Thai and the Tom yum soup lacked flavor other than fish sauce and spice. Not much in the way of lime, sweetness or peanut flavor other than actual peanuts sprinkled on top at the end. This isn't unusual for pad Thai, I often throw a tiny bit of Tom yum soup on top when it's dry or lacking flavor but the soup also didn't have anything going for it. The tofu was dry, the shrimp over cooked, and most importantly we ordered everything mild since I have a low spice tolerance and I was sharing the meal with my 3 year old and 5 year old but the food was so spicy none of us could eat it without writhing in pain. Literally it's been 30 minutes since my last bite and my mouth is still stinging. I would say perhaps they got the order wrong but my husband insists he saw them write down the word mild. Meanwhile he orders his food spicy and when we compared it to the "mild" food we received we all agreed it was of equal spicy levels. I would expect this from a new restaurant but now that they've been around a few years I honestly expect better, we won't be ordering from here again. read more

This was our first visit to Origin Thai Bistro - we had a nice lunch. The salad & dressing were very good - tangy & sweet. The appetizer sampler was good - nice flavors. The Chicken Pad Thai was good, but needed more... flavor. It was more like lightly scented noodles than a dish of yummy peanutty goodness. The Green Curry was a bit disappointing. We couldn't finish it - when the amount of spice gets in the way of the flavor it's just not tasty. I did ask for very mild - and since Green Curry is sweeter I was expecting Yummy and not a burning tongue - made it hard to enjoy the rest. Really disappointed in their lack of alcohol. Also, it was noon on a Tuesday - there was one waitress - things took a while. I will be going back - want to try some other dishes - hope they get at least a beer / wine license in the mean-time. read more

I was happy to learn that these folks were willing to deliver to a local hotel so I would not have to move my trailer. We ordered three entrees ( panang chicken, massaman chicken, and mango fried rice) and two appetizers (golden tofu and fried dumplings ) Panang - 4 stars . Nice and spicy buy too much green bell pepper Massaman 4 stars- needed more spice to coconut milk. Otherwise good Mango fried rice 4 stars. Ok overall but a bit bland Golden tofu - make sure to ask for extra sauce. Dumplings were deep fried not pan fried gyoza style dumplings $52 with delivery was a great price. read more

LOVE this spot! I find myself here several times a month. I have tried so many items: massaman curry (my favorite!), spicy duck, chicken noodle soup, spring rolls, fresh rolls, shu mei, crab rangoons (amazing: more crab less cream cheese), mango salad, Tom Kah/coconut soup, pad thai.... ALL GREAT! Oh and the Thai Fried Rice, I could live off of. I can even get my kids to eat that one and they are super picky. Overall, I really do love it here and the staff is very friendly. Great local Thai food. Fairly authentic for someone who lived in Thailand for a couple of years. Spicy will be spicy. Be sure to ask if you want spiciness adjusted. I will never eat here again. They are listed on grubhub to deliver in Tewksbury. So we placed an order for 3 pad thais' and veg spring rolls. While taking the order they said that they were out of rolls and they had triangles that had the same stuffing. So we went with that. When they reached our apartment, the lady called and said that they do not come into apartments and that we'd have to come down and get it. There were no receipts with the order, the triangles were stuffed with potatoes and looks like they had been opened from a frozen packet and fried. Very poor customer behavior, below average food. They charged a $2 delivery fee and also harassed us. I do not recommend them at all. read more

Great service and large portions. We dined here on a weeknight and there was only one other party at a nearby table. After they left, we had the place to ourselves for the remainder of our dinner. It definitely seems to be more of a takeout place (at least during the week). Therefore, if you are looking for a great atmosphere/vibe, this would not be your place. Service: 5 stars. It was relatively quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Both waitresses were very attentive and checked in on us 3 times. Water was never empty. Food: 3 stars. One thing to keep in mind is that Origin Thai Bistro is pretty good *White American* Thai cuisine. The flavors are created knowing that their customers are probably 90% white (the town of Tewksbury is 95% white). This means that they hold back on the heat, and they offer things like crab rangoon (which is NOT authenticly Thai at all) in the shape of a spring roll for their lunch special. We asked for the highest level of spice (3) and it was really only mild-medium, like the spice of Chipotle's medium salsa. They also hold back on the lemongrass flavor I think. We ordered the Tum Yom Soup Noodle Soup and Khao Soi lunch specials. The Tum Yom had a lot more flavor, but it was lacking that extra kick. The Khao Soi was fine, but it was a little too overloaded with crispy shallots and didn't have enough depth to the curry flavor. Origin Thai Bistro is a new spot, and it's really close to I-93. For what it lacks in authenticity, it makes up for in convenience and price. Parking is super easy, and two lunch specials with a Thai iced tea and a green tea was only $23. I will come again, but I wish that they would kick up the spice!! read more

My wife and I stopped here for lunch recently. We were very pleased with the Thai restaurant that preceded Origin Thai but I have to say the new place has raised the bar even higher! It's basically in our back yard but for anyone further away, let me say this: it's worth the trip. Our meal selections were made with very fresh ingredients and had a nice balance of flavor and spicey-ness. At lunch time we typically eat half our meals and bring home the other half for lunch or dinner the next day or two. Not this time. We both ate everything and consoled ourselves by saying we didn't have to have dinner that night. And it was worth every bite. Origin Thai is a must-see (or is that must-eat?) venue. read more

This location used to be Tuk Tuk Thai - it was here seemingly forever, but when I finally made the time to stop by it was closed and Origin Thai Bistro was setting up in its stead. I've eaten here several times since it has opened. I really love how chill and cozy the interior is (not to mention immaculately spotless, something that always puts my mind at ease when I eat out). I have no clue what music they are playing, but I really like the ambiance it sets. The curries are good, maybe a tiny bit thin for my liking. I've tried the panang curry and yellow curry. I wish they had less peppers and other vegetables mixed in like baby corn or more bamboo. The thai iced tea and iced coffee are so delicious - sometimes on my way home from work I'll stop here as an indulgence and pick one up along with the tom kha soup. It's SO creamy and delicious... I've tried to replicate it on my own (with as authentic-as-I-can-get ingredients like galangal and keffir lime leaves) but I never come close to its rich, creamy goodness. I had one experience where I brought my boyfriend in and he requested his soup be PAINFULLY SPICY TO THE EXTREME, and I was at the other end of the spectrum with my curry ("please make it mild enough for a baby to eat") - unfortunately, we're pretty certain our orders were mixed up because his soup was deliciously mild and my curry was a mouth-inferno. I'm not sure if they were embarrassed (I suspect they were) because the hostess insisted that it wasn't a mixup, but she brought me a milder plate of curry while my boyfriend continued to eat his mild soup (he's a good sport). read more

I was looking for a late lunch after an appointment. Not familiar with the area I relied on Yelp. When I pulled into the plaza I was not to impressed with the outside. Going in I was happily greeted and seated at a nice table. Their menu had a lot to offer. I ordered the vegetarian Spring triangles. Crunchy and delicious. Then I ate the Pineapple Red Curry with Veggies and Tofu. I really enjoyed every bite. I ate half and took the rest home. When I arrived home an hour later I couldn't put it in fridge. After falling in love with the fried rice at my hometown's pho restaurant, I've become a bit of a fried rice connoisseur, and through all of my travels this place has the best fried rice I've ever seen. It's served with lots of big, real vegetables, and tasted great despite being takeout. Their menu had tons of variety and I can only imagine what other dishes they've mastered. I was delighted that they use recyclable bags and containers, and will definitely be writing this one down in case I'm ever in the area again. read more

This was a great Thai restaurant I found near where I worked. I tried many different curries, and all of them were delicious. My favorite was probably the panang curry. My favorite dish overall was the pineapple fried rice. It was the best fried rice I've ever had, and it really brought together many of the great flavors of Thai food. It had a yellow curry base, with cashews, raisins, scallions, bean sprouts, pineapple and many other delicious flavors. I have since left Massachusetts, but I have yet to find a fried rice that matches this one. read more

There was no meat due to an abundance of deep fried coating. And thank you for the very over cooked spring rolls...I don't think they are supposed to have a burnt tint to them. I liked the Pad Thai, but I have had better, wanted spicy, but it was pretty bland. The dumplings were the best thing, they were homemade, but you only get 5 small ones.
