We had just talked up how great this place was and got our friend who had never been to give it a try tonight. Granted this was my first time at this location, but I'm not sure I've ever experienced a more unfriendly staff. Everything from ordering, to getting the food made wrong, to having them roll their eyes for asking for a side of sauce. I'm not sure who peed in their Cheerios, but it was across the board awful service. Oh and there was onion peel in two of the bowls, the largest piece pictured. They included that for free It's a shame, the other locations I've been to have been great. Stopped by after my workout to grab a muscle malt shake which is one of my faves (I get it with cold brew). Hayden was very inviting and had a big smile on her face as she greeted me as I walked in. I often frequent the Arcadia location because it is close to my work but I also love this location and they have a great patio with misters (needed in this weather). Yep-- ChopShop only deserves 2 stars in my book. Seems like they are opening too many locations and quality has gone downhill. I used to be obsessed with their beet salad and teriyaki bowl. Now it's just pricey dishes that still leave you hungry. Sandwiches come with no sides, bowls have almost no protein and are 90% rice and cauliflower. I have never left a review in my life but today's experience here gave me a reason to. Not a 1 star because the food is bad, in fact the food is so good it's the only reason I will tolerate this place. Walked in at 8:51pm and they close at 9:00pm (yeah I felt bad and even acknowledged that to the the girl who took our order). She took our order with a face that looked like she just found out her dog died, I had never felt like such an inconvenience in an establishment that is built to serve you number one. Number two, SHE HAD THE AUDACITY TO SAY "so I assume it's to go since we close in 9 minutes". These people have the greatest job ever because I have yet to work somewhere that my clock out time is more important than the person paying for me to be employed. It makes it hard to dine out but Chop Shop gives tons of healthy options, offering great variety - I can find several items that work for me and my dining partners have a lot of delicious items that won't leave them feeling like my dietary restrictions hijacked their chance for a good meal! I've been here a dozen times in the past few months and have always had a very enjoyable experience. I love the protein bowls and the salads and today I tried for the first time one of the protein shakes, it's called the Pine-Kale-Ado. Very delicious and it doesn't remotely taste like the normal "green drinks!" I'm a sucker for a healthy restaurant- ChopShop is an easy go to. I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl with sweet potato hash, which is also served with cauliflower, brussel sprouts, mushrooms, and carrots mixed in and a little avocado sprinkled on top. They do a good job of mixing the Teriyaki sauce in well. You could fairly easily make 2 meals out of it- healthy portion and love they serve the food in to go plates, so it eliminates the extra step of transfer. read more

Both my husband and I each ordered a Teriyaki Chicken Protein Bowl. Disappointed!!! Only the teriyaki sauce and the broccoli were served hot. All other items in the bowl were luke warm at best. We have each had the Teriyaki Chicken Protein Bowl many times in the past at this location and the food was served hot. Just had a suuuuuper disturbing experience here tonight. I have been a huge fan of both chop shop locations in AZ & was pretty stoked when one opened a mile away. Tonight I went with my kids & bought juice. The man making the juice stopped while making mine touching the door & door jam with his gloved [juice making] hands. He came back holding 6 cucumbers. One dropped on the floor. He picked it up. Placed all of them on the counter then proceeds to put the dropped cucumber in to my drink!! I was like a deer in headlights. I visited this place a few times. The quality of the food is not consistent, sometimes good, sometimes really bad. For example, I ordered the Thai Coconut Chicken Bowl in two separate occasions. The first time it was good. The second time was really bad: it tasted like old food reheated many times. The vegetables were beyond over cooked, totally mushy, the rice could not be dryer (both the brown and the forbidden ones), the chicken has barely a little of the thai sauce. Not good at all. After that visit I decided to email them my experience. I never heard from them. Not sure why they have an email in their website if they don't pay attention to it. We ordered takeout from here last night for dinner. We were looking for something new and willing to drive. This place is 8 miles from our house. So you can imagine our disappointment when my husband came home with half of our order missing. He called and spoke to Victoria, who was extremely kind and apologetic. The rest of our order was still sitting right there at the restaurant. They had their delivery driver bring us the rest of our order (way out of their delivery area I'm sure). They threw in some cookies, an iced tea, and remade my dinner so it was still hot when I received it. AMAZING customer service. Mistakes happen, but how you handle them defines who you are. What a blessing it is to have Chop Shop so close to home! I must say that driving 40+ minutes to get to the old town/asu locations were getting to be a drag, so thank you thank you thank you! As a newly opened location it is beautiful and the staff is polite, friendly, and helpful! I've eaten here twice since it opened not even a week ago (no shame) and the only issue I have had is incorrect orders. Since I place to-go it is not until I get home that I realize it, and by then it is too late. Both times my food has been incorrect from what I ordered. Either something I omitted is still on the meal, or something originally supposed to be on there, is missing. I would recommend paying more attention to order fulfillment as the staff is packing from the kitchen to ensure the errors are caught before giving them to the customer. Food? Well it's amazing! No matter the location the quality of ingredients and options are amazing! So happy to have a healthy casual restaurant around. read more

My wife and I just dined in their this afternoon and I must say that we received very negative energy from the staff (with the exception of a tall friendly kid). It all started with a red-head young man who took our order. After I placed the order for my wife and I, I asked this young man what he thought about a particular lemonade drink that was on display behind him. With very low enthusiasm, he said that he liked the drink but that it was a little on the sweet side. I then asked him if I could have a small sample, and he simply replied "No. Sorry." My wife and I looked at each other kind of startled by this response, but we did not say anything and just proceeded to a table to await our food. It's important to understand that there was not a customer behind us waiting to place an order, which would have made this cashier's response somewhat understandable. Several minutes after we took our seats at our table, my wife drew my attention to a customer at the counter who was just handed a sample of the same lemonade. Taken aback by this, I approached the counter to confront the red-head kid as to why this customer was given a sample and I was not. Before I could speak to him, the friendly kid (referenced above) intercepted me and asked me if I needed anything. I then proceeded to tell him that the red-head kid just gave a customer a sample of the lemonade, but told me that I could not have one. The friendly kid said, "I'm sorry" and proceeded to give me a sample. When I asked the friendly kid why he thought I may have been treated different by the kid at the register, he simply cracked what appeared to be an uncomfortable smile. I said nothing else and proceeded back to our table to await our food. An older gentleman (who appeared to be the manager) brought us our food and I was going to vent to him, but he did not have a friendliness to him. He did not smile or say hello, nor did he say anything to us as he came back to clean tables next to us. It was just a very unfriendly energy from him and other members of his staff. We ate our food and left the restaurant, but my wife and I could not help but think that maybe we were treated a certain way because we are black. It's really hard to tell, but when you are black, this is something you think about when things like this happen.
