What upset me most was not the original mistake -- it was how Ruben, the GM, handled it afterward. We spent over $45 on two orders, including a kids meal- Ham with cheese (Samie) sandwich. When we got home, the sandwich was completely wrong: turkey with no cheese. My daughter does not eat turkey, so the sandwich had to be thrown away and I had to remake her lunch. Instead of simply acknowledging the mistake, Ruben repeatedly insisted they made the "correct sandwich," which honestly felt extremely offensive and dismissive. I would not exaggerate or fabricate an issue over a $5 kids meal, especially when we spent much more than that there the same day. Mistakes happen -- I used to manage restaurants myself. What matters is how management handles them. A simple apology and acknowledgment would have gone a long way, but instead the response felt defensive and argumentative. I've been a fan of Original ChopShop since my ASU days back in 2013, when it felt like a true local gem -- fresh, thoughtful, and unmatched. Sadly, that's no longer the case. Since their expansion outside of Arizona, the quality has noticeably declined. I've given this location several chances before writing this review, but the consistency just isn't there anymore. The avocado toast now comes on an untoasted slice of bread with a few sliced roma tomatoes on the side -- not exactly the vibrant, fresh presentation it once had. The sweet potato hash in bowls is often burnt, hard, and tastes like it's been sitting out. And more than once, I've received salads with wilted or rotten greens, which is really disappointing given their brand. Not sure what happened, but it's sad to see a once-beloved spot lose its quality and charm. Hoping the owners see this and take the feedback seriously. read more

So found a new lunch spot. So calm, clean, employees are nice. I got the red chili shrimp with roasted veggies and sweet potatoes and it's so filling without making me feel stuffed. Got a takeout order of my favorite sandwich, chicken and prosciutto. Have gotten it several times and usually the chicken is very juicy and it has a good proportion of the fig jam, called fig mostarda, but this time, there wasn't that much on it and the chicken was on the dry side. So disappointed!! I also ordered a side of brussel sprouts. Totally inedible!! They were not only uncooked, but hard, dry, brown inside and couldn't even chew them. Terrible!!! This place is clean, beautiful and inviting. Oh, and the employees are friendly and food is delicious! They offer breakfast, protein shakes, sandwiches, salads and everything is healthy. We've had their muscle malt, and jacked up protein shakes with almond milk. Not too sugary and so good. Their sandwiches are piled with plenty of veggies and meat and super tasty. I didn't have to wait & the service was quick & super friendly! I ordered the Danish salad which has no meat if you're looking for that option. Ingredients were fresh & flavors blended well together; blue cheese crumbles with sliced apple, pear, fig, currents & nuts with a summery, tangy dressing. I walked up to the order counter, Soto, super nice, welcomed me and was so patient while I contemplated on what to order on the extensive menu. The place seemed very clean and organized. I ordered the Ice Tea and the Chicken and Prosciutto Sandwich (grilled chicken, prosciutto, fontina, arugula, fig mostarda, dijon, house bun) to go. I filled my ice tea cup with 1 out of 4 types of ice tea offered. Waited in the pickup area for about 7 minutes and brought it home. All was intact (traveled well). Save your money and go elsewhere. Ordered the Thai Coconut Chicken Bowl and nothing about it was good. The barely existent chicken maybe had a dozen quarter inch cubes probably less than 2oz worth of chicken was so dry, I had to choke it down. The broccoli was soggy, looked old and tasted terrible. The sweet potato was the best part of the dish but I think there was so much of it. There was easily at least two cups worth of sweet potato and some of it looked like it had sat in the bottom of the sweet potato pot for several days, black and brown. The side of chicken I got, was the exactly the same as that contained in the meal, surprisingly I got more chicken in the side then on my actual meal. Sadly this meal was not worth the $17 I spent and based on the presentation and lack of quality, I will not be back. There are better places around to get a quality, healthy meal. read more

Service was super friendly. The person who took our order asked about our dog, who we brought with us. He then told me a little about his dog. What I first noticed walking in was the farmhouse/contemporary style decor. It's spacious, inviting and has a clean feel. I was immediately greeted and given some great recommendations on some of their favorites. I ended up deciding on the chicken teriyaki bowl, alongside a pineapple green tea and my daughter chose the strawberry ginger lemonade. They have so many great flavors of teas and lemonades that I had a hard time choosing. I live that the teas are unsweetened, as in my opinion they were perfection without any added sugar. (Guilt free .) I decided to take our order to go as my 3 year old was nearing nap. Our food was ready in under 5 min. Seriously faster than fast food and healthier! I am blown away! I've never eaten here before and was curious about their menu. I love the healthy fresh options and variety. I opted for the Thai Curry Chicken with forbidden rice base and added brussel sprouts OMG! The fullness of the flavor alongside the creamy coconut milk based sauce was a perfect blend. A quick, convenient healthy salad place with a lot of options. Almost too many options. They've got a really easy ordering system where you can use a kiosk and customize just about everything from doing a build your own to one of the featured bowls. Very easy to modify your preferred protein, dressing, etc... This place is very good. Tried the Original Chip House for the first time today. One was opening near us and we wanted to check it out ahead if time, so went to a different location. My wife ordered the Teriyaki Bowl with chicken and I ordered the Steak sandwich. The chicken was waaaay over cooked and the roasted vegetables were almost raw. My everything iny Steak sandwich EXCEPT THE STEAK, was good. The problem was, the steak was also waaaay overcooked, so difficult to eat, it was like trying to eat a beef jelly sandwich. The restaurant was bright and clean inside. Unfortunately the food just didn't live up to the hype. The bowl was dripping in sauce which made the whole dish overly sweet. This place is awesome. You're met with bright farmhouse style aesthetics accompanied by fresh daisies as centerpieces and focal points of the restaurant. (Maybe they knew I was coming so chose daisies for Daisy) lol. There's a ton of options to choose from and when I say a ton I mean a ton but in the best of ways! Obviously in the midst of my confused look I was pleasantly approached by the friendly smile of cashier Jaylen who gave the best advice, details, and banter. This is a great local chain with super healthy food but very importantly also super delicious. I really enjoyed their Tempe location and this one in Paradise Valley right at the corner of Shea and Tatum is another winner unless you like unhealthy food that tastes bad lol. Service was A+ by Manager Thomas(from NY and East coast like me which I like)and Daven. I chose the Korean spicy steak bowl which was phenomenal and I savored every bite of the juicy, flavorful steak accompanied by crunchy yummy cauliflower, broccoli and the forbidden rice was a new treat. If not the best Korean spicy steak bowl I ever had it's definitely in my all time top 5 and I used to live in LA where Koreatown is the final word on this dish. The slim juice with fresh fruits was also invigorating and tasty. They also have great sides-gourmet chips, chocolate bars, brownies; they pretty much got it all that's healthy and delicious. I really wanted to like this place however their food was just average. A friend and I ordered the Thai Coconut Chicken and realized as we a few bites in that there was no Thai sauce. The vegetables were aldente and had no seasoning etc. The staff person was very gracious and said sometimes they forget the sauce. He said he would bring it out. He brought out two plastic ramikens of warm Thai sauce. When we opened the sauce it was water- like instead of a sauce. It flowed though the vegetables to the bottom of the bowl. We just missed the cutoff for the Avocado Toast (Mon - Fri 7-11am) so we went with a couple sandwiches. We picked the Moroccan Turkey and The Club. Both were very well made and with fresh ingredients. The breads we chose Whole Grain and Housebun were great bookends for these flavorful sandwiches. The service was very welcoming and polite.
