I've gone here a few time since moving to Broomfield in '90. Back then, the owner and the staff seemed more friendly and upbeat. The last few times I've gone in, they have been a bit on the rude side, to be honest. However, I've tried several items over the years, and I absolutely love their calzones. I've never had a better calzone, and they're big. The egglplant parmesan sub is tasty, too. The pizza is decent, nothing to write home about. The last time we ate here, I tried the spaghetti and meatballs for the first time and in my opinion, it was AWFUL. The sauce is good for dipping, but not on a pile of noodles. Zaikas is a great Indian restaurant. They take pride in their offerings. Their oven baked dishes are always scrumptious and flavorful. Always large portions and plenty of great sauces. I would give them 5 stars but recently my favorite dish of Rosemary Salmon was taken off the menu. Here is to hoping they bring it back. Either way, so many other great dishes to choose from. Okay, I have read all the other reviews and YES, the owner has an attitude, but it IS named NY Original Pizza isn't it? I am from Queens and I go in there sometimes just to get the attitude that I miss since I have been out here. He is definitely the Pizza Nazi...but it's not that hard.. order what you want, pay and leave. That's all there is to it. He is great to his regulars and gives back to the community from what I have heard. I ordered some trays of food for a bridal shower and everyone LOVED the food. The owner carried it all out to my car and the very next day called me personally to make sure everything was okay and to see how everyone liked it. Don't let the attitude fool you, I believe he is a big, softy inside... have you ever seen him with his granddaughter? My daughter loves to go in there and just listen to them talk with their Italian accents. It reminds her of 'home'. Pretty darn close to NY pizza. I think it is impossible to get pizza like NY.. just like bagels and Italian cookies! Easy parking, dine in or take out. They use Polly-O (NY) cheese products that I cannot find on my own. Also known as Original Pizza Italian Restaurant, this is not a high end purveyor of Italian cuisine. The menu is not packed with cutting edge dishes. You will not be amazed by the wine cellar and it's rare Chianti. There are no white table cloths or the more chic butcher paper. It is also not another obnoxious mega corp chain. This establishment is a long-time favorite for Broomfield residents. It's locally-owned and family-run. The food is very tasty, reasonably priced and served by a people who care (even though their NYC roots occasionally show through a little sometimes ;-) ). The pizza is thin crust and they don't skimp on the toppings. The garlic bread twists are addictive. They also have cold Moretti and Peroni. Go there. Order in Italian if you know how. Eat. I can't deal with the attitude from these people. And, also they require a minimum credit card charge of $15.00 which is against both Visa and MasterCard's Merchant agreement policy. We've eaten here multiple times since moving to Broomfield. Everyone in the house LOVES the pizza. Yum yum yum! My husband and daughter really enjoy the lasagna, too. I was not a huge fan, only because it wasn't really seasoned. Worth it for the pizza alone! The dessert cannolis are awesome, too. They do not deliver, which is a bummer, but we live pretty close so it's not a huge deal. Go here for fast, cheap food at lunch time... not for a fine dining experience. I had the special - two slices of peperoni pizza and a fountain drink for around $5. Not the best pizza I've ever had but it was certainly passable and eatable. It did have it's own sort of 'atmosphere' - some of the other reviewers have pointed that out. A little bit of attitude with just average food. I guess what I did like was that it's a mom and pop shop run by the proprietors. The place itself had lots of nic-knacks to add local color. I love this place. Best pizza I've had in this area hands down. The staff is definitely a culture shock to some. But definitely not me. I really like Ralphie and his family. Nice people. The pizza is very good, and I've also had the spaghetti (which I LOVE). The only criticism I have is that they need to have more consistency. Sometimes the pizza is fantastic and sometimes its okay. I'm a NY native and always on a search for the best pizza. I LOVE pizza. I've given this place several shots because the pizza is actually decent (compared to other Colorado pizza options- personally, I've yet to find true NY pizza in this state but Lil Ricci's comes SIGNIFICANTLY closer {and they're nice}). This place is EXTREMELY overpriced, I'm talking I substituted garlic for eggplant on my pizza and they charged me $3.50 on an already $23 pizza... I have a picky eater on my hands so I called ahead about the kid's menu only to discover they have 1 option... spaghetti. So, I brought my picky eater carry-out from somewhere else, sat in the back corner, and fed the rest of the family pizza (keep in mind this was a well over $100 ticket) and the @$$hole working had the nerve to make my 7 year old throw his food away. Despite the fact that I called and point blank asked them for their menu and if they could do just plain chicken. I'm from NY, I've only ever lived in major cities (I live in DTown Denver)... this guy is NOT like a New Yorker (it shames me to read that you all seem to think everyone from NY is like him), he is a straight up prick. There is a difference between cold, efficient, not friendly and a flat out jerk. This guy is a jerk. His daughters (and their infant children) are the only servers. They spend more time babysitting the children they haven't bathed in weeks than they will serving you. Don't drink you'r drink-- you wont get another one. Please do not support his business. Mile High Pizza Pie (16th and Stout) and Lil Ricci's (Littleton, Golden, and Highlands Ranch locations) have pizza that is 100 times more amazing than the "best" I've ever had from Original Pizza, their staff's are personable and efficient, AND it's literally half the price. Jersey Girl here. True to NY/NJ Italian food and vibe! I crave the eggplant parmigiana, calzones, bread and cannolis! Their pizza is awesome too! Always fresh, great quality ingredients and made to order. Salad and bread are included with entrees, as it should be. Hard working, family owned, true New Yorkers! Makes me feel right at home. Since I moved here I have been looking for a decent pizza and have been unable to find it except some few and far between locations. This is by far the best I have found here yet. Excellent crust, properly baked with a delicious sauce and good toppings, excellent service and a lovely place to dine. And they even have a fountain. I highly recommend this restaurant. I've been looking for non-chain restaurant, not-upscale Italian food, so I've come here twice, and not for the pizza. I've tried the eggplant parm sandwich and the eggplant parm entree with spaghetti. The sandwich-the proportions were way off; the roll was crusty but there was way too much bread for the amount of eggplant, cheese, and sauce inside. It was difficult to taste anything but bread until I discarded half the roll. Portion size of the eggplant entree was generous as was the side of spaghetti. What was especially good to see was that the eggplant was not those perfectly round, breaded things that you can get in the supermarket. I found the sauce on the spaghetti and the eggplant to be on the thin side, but otherwise pleasant. I will be back to try other non-pizza items. One other observation-by the end of my dinner, the restaurant was quite smoky; if this had been my house, the smoke alarm would have gone off. read more

This is the most delicious pizza I have ever tasted! The thin, hand-made pizza dough is tasty and cooked; not some undercooked pre-made dough, nor is it crispy, butter cracker oily. Just perfect. The sauce is flavorful and garlicky with just enough to not fall out of the edges when you fold your slice. The pepperoni is authentic Italian and sliced thin. How is this place still in business? The food is below par and not my idea of authentic NY style and I've been to NY City many times. I ordered lunch to dine-in and had a slice of pepperoni pizza, which didn't seem fresh with a layer of congealed cheese on top. I also had a side of spaghetti with sauce, which was no better than out of a can. The owner, an older man, was so rude! He actually yelled at me, a paying customer! I couldn't tell if he was serious, but laughed out loud uncomfortably and out of shock. I think he really is from NY, but whether it was an act or not, it wasn't the least bit charming. The place is outdated and the ambience is gross, in my opinion. There are posters on the walls about being the best pizza in Broomfield, from over a decade ago, but I didn't see any recent accolades. Needless to say, I would never return or recommend this place to anyone. There are much better pizza and Italian places to take your business. read more

A baby crib and infant right behind the front counter leaves me questioning the sanitation of this place. Want to know what the problem is with having a great product? Your service can suck and people will still eat at your restaurant. The table service is terrible. The call in for pickup service is terrible. The food is great. It's a toss up most of the time if you want to deal with the establishment in order to eat good food. Tried this place last Thursday, should have left it alone when I called and they said they had already cleaned up and were closing early due to no business, after putting me on hold while employee talked to manager I was informed I could order pizza only, I went ahead and ordered two pizza's at a cost of $42.00 dollars, One pizza was just ok, but the deep dish cheese pizza had a total black crust, smelled like it had been in a fire and was inedible. I would have called when I got home to report it, but they turned out the lights as I left the parking lot, again closing way early due to no business. $15 minimum on credit cards, employee belongings on counters next to food, poor service This place was pretty disappointing. The lunch special (2 slices and a soda for $5) seemed like a great deal, so we ordered that to split. When we pulled out or credit card, though, the cashier told us "There's a $15 dollar minimum on credit cards." So we left to go to the bank across the street since we weren't going to pay a fee to use their atm. Normally, we would have just left and not come back because that is ridiculous, but we were hungry and the bank was right there. When we got back and were waiting for our food, I noticed that I could see a couple of purses/personal belongings in plain sight right behind the glass counter right next to the food. Now, I have worked in a couple of food places and I know that this is totally not acceptable. When we left we wanted more pizza to go, and I ended up waiting at the counter while the employees joked around in the kitchen area, completely ignoring me. When we got our slices to go, she just pulled them out of the oven and put them on a paper plate and handed them to us. Hmm. Kinda hard to take that home. So we kind of looked at each other funny and then she said "Oh, maybe I should put that in a bag for you" The food wasn't bad, pretty ok pizza at a fair price, but the overall experience was bad. They need a serious revamp in customer service, cleanliness and on a lesser note, maybe some re-decorating. read more

This is what I have experienced at this establishment MULTIPLE times. Their pizza is great. However, their treatment of customers is appalling. The owner is a cantankerous, rude man who, simply put, needs to treat his customers better. Other staff are equally offensive, blaming customers for their own mistakes and acting as though they are doing you a favor by selling you a pizza. (Of note, I'm not a midwesterner or a snowflake. I was in Bloomfield visiting a friend and craving some good Authentic Pizza and came across this place. I'm originally from NYC, so I thought this was good pizza. I wasn't impressed at all. I ordered 2 "14 Pizza's and it was awful! There was NO sauce, barely any cheese, and they didn't put hardly any toppings on the pizza, being that it was $ 1.50 per topping??!! The dough was as hard as card board, and over cooked! Not anything like NY style! I've even traveled to Italy multiple times, and the Pizza there is amazing!! The girl at the counter was NOT wearing a mask, and the place was very dirty...I will not be going back. I keep looking to find some good, Authentic Italian Pizza here in Colorado, looks like I will have to go back to NYC to get a good pie! read more
