Went there last night to get a pizza for the family. We put our order in and even tipped. Afterwards we sat down and waited 40 minutes wondering where our order was. Instead of being honest about forgetting to tell the cook our order, the lady at the register made up a lie about the oven being broken. We are reasonable people, if she would have admitted her mistake, we would have been just fine working it out. That's the grown up thing to do. Because of this it took us 2 hours to go out and get dinner for the family. Wasted our time. We just voided the order and never going back. This review has nothing to do with the food, which is absolutely outstanding and a wonderful taste of home. This has to do with the unfortunate disgusting NY attitude that comes with the staff. They are blatant rude, offer no apologies for every meal being late, and if you order anything to go don't bother to tell you that the wait is over an hour even for a simple cheese pizza. This pizza place is pretty good. We ordered a jumbo half pepperoni half cheese and an order of garlic knots and that was good for three adults. It was busy Saturday night and we called ahead of time. Took a little bit. Full parking lot. Pizza was good and far better than a dominos or little ceasars or Pizza Hut. Definitely still greasy. Garlic knots could have had a bit more butter in my opinion. Staff is rude on the phone. Was told an "hour ish" wait. Arrive and pay no problem, can overhear them scrambling to look for my pizza by name and order description. They found it and then it proceeded to sit on top of the oven for 15 minutes while they cooked my order of garlic bread that was forgotten. I had to get the attention of the staff after deeming 15 minutes enough time for my pizza to be on a warmer and was given the next garlic bread that came out. Surely it was someone else's so sorry about your wait. They clearly can't handle a rush or this particular staff tonight could not. So awesome to be able to write a review on the place I remember as Scoops growing up as a child in Broomfield turning into this awesome New York Pizza Palace. Quickly made friends with Ralphie as he opened his Pizzeria in my junior year so for 2 years I ate the best pizza on this planet and realized what New York Pizza was all about. Saddest thing about not being in Colorado is not being able to go see my buddy Ralphie and get the best pizza in this world!!!!, What a nice PERSON.. I moved to Colorado and was very disappointed to not find any good pizza here. There are a lot of great things about Colorado. But there is no good pizza. Until I found original pizza in Broomfield! Even as you pull up you feel like you are back in New York. There is even parking outside for Mets and Giants fans! It is a real classic, hidden gem! We live about 20 minutes away but we would driive an hour for this. The crust is thin but not too thin where the pizza literally flops. It is heavy enough to hold up all the delicious sauce and the cheese. They do not skimp on the cheese (a common flaw of some pizza shops). You don't need to order extra cheese with the amount that comes. Service is good, quick and they have a great NY attitude. I almost don't want to leave this review because I don't want the wait to get any longer but let me say- this is worth sharing!! read more

Crappy atmosphere, terrible customer service, and ordinary food ensures that I will never visit this place again. Ever. I have family in New York, and I've had good Italian food. This is not it. If you want to be a "Pizza Nazi" your food better be really great. At least good enough for people to tolerate your hostile attitude. The owner was rude us, nasty to his wife (the waitress) and raising his voice at his two pizza boys who were scurrying around like mice. The atmosphere was so tense it could have been cut with a knife. Everyone has bad days, but those are the very days that you should take off instead of spewing at everyone that crosses your path. One of the pizza boys tried to calm things down, but the damage was already done. We took our food and left. I certainly don't want to give any business to employers who abuse their minimum wage employees. Geez... You can cut off some of the toxicity but ordering delivery. But why? There's a different between NY charm and NY attitude. Sadly, this place serves up a slice of attitude over charm. The atmosphere here is pretty bare bones outside of being NY proud. I think the mark of a good place is if you'd drive out of your way to go here .... and I wouldn't. Service: We walked in and the staff seemed too focused on deliveries much more then their in-store customers. We had to repeat our order several times because the person taking our order was doing it from the pizza making counter and not the register counter. For being a family restaurant, I wouldn't say they are family friendly nor would I say they are budget friendly since a 14 inch pizza with three sodas was just under $30. Were they straight up rude ... nope but again, I expect to be recognized a lil if I'm on the paying end of the business relationship. Food: I wouldn't say anyone in our party was blown away but it wasn't awful. Was it NY style. Yep. Did it make my Top 20 Colorado pizza list. Nope. I'd go back here to try their lasagna or calzone but I wouldn't order another pizza here. I'd also call in my order next time to save myself the stress of dealing with the family counter service. PS. I wish I could start writing about the great pizza, but sadly I need to start by addressing the Schmuckatellis who gave bad reviews and insulted Ralph (whom I just met today). I grew up in New York among Italians (1st gen) and frequently travel to Europe, and he is by no means rude. I got yelled at On a regular basis from my Italian mamas while being stuffed with the best Italian food you can imagine, it's just how they work. That is being direct and honest; something these passive aggressive assessment could learn from. He was friendly, in a way you would expect from a hard working, old school man. Maybe it's because the place is close to Boulder but if you want someone to wipe your nose and give you a hug, then go to Boulder, they have good food there too. The people who are Insulting this family are the same reason so many Americans are seen as asshole tourists. Now that I got that out let's talk food. To you readers out there, ignore those who judge NY Pizza based on never living on the East Coast or comparing to Anthony (a step above Papa Murphy). Thin crust does not make it a NY pie. I grew up in NY, lived in Boston and Chicago and I'm chubby...... I know my pizza. That is why a friend from Brooklyn made me come here and try this. Ralph makes a solid pizza! One that I can overcome my craving to go home and get one. Trust me, even NY has crappy pizza joints, and this place makes a good pie! If you want to compare to other great NY Pizza in Colorado than try Big Bills in Englewood and Jersey Boys up in Dillon. This are the best 3 I have found so far and the only ones deserving of being called NY Pizza. After working in Broomfield for a number of years and then switching to a job in Boulder, this is one of the lunch spots I miss. As the other reviews have stated, there's not a single thing fancy about this place, unless you include the ceramic statue of a chef with a handwritten sign on it that says "if you toucha me i will breaka your face". Classic. In my circle of friends we lovingly refer to the very alpha, New York native male owner of this joint as the "Pizza Nazi" and have many great stories about various ordering experiences encountered there. Some of my favorite moments at my last job involved taking "Pizza Nazi" virgins there and having them order something which irritated the guy. Seriously-- if you go there, immediately decide what you want, don't ask for anything fancy, and pay in cash. Anything else will get you, at a minimum, a stare down from the big guy if not an insult. One of my favorite stories from there involves him refusing to sell a salad to someone because he asked too many questions about it. I'm pretty sure if you went in there with a hidden camera and tried to order something ridiculous, it would be an instant internet viral video classic. As for the food, it's decent.. not earth shattering, but decent. I like the pizza, as well as the sausage sandwich. Actually, I'd say probably the best thing you must try there is the said sandwich-- a cheesy gut bomb with a generous amount of delicious sausage. I don't want to even know how many calories it is, but it's pretty tasty. Really the biggest reason to go there is for the experience. The decor and owners are one of my favorite things about "old" Broomfield, not to mention one of the regulars there who always seems to be hanging-out (I think he's a relative) is a 9News helicopter pilot. I absolutely love this place! As a native and also growing up in Broomfield, this used to be Scoops a great little local ice cream parlor has now been turned into an NY Italian Pizzeria, which is awesome! This is my families favorite place to get pizza, it is so good you know you have to wait for it on a weekend! This family owned and operated restaurant has a great cozy spot in central Broomfield, right next to the fire station and Midway park. Owner is your typical New Yorker, who is honest, real and no fluff, love it! On a busy Friday, one of the staff members who was making some pizza's made sure to toss the dough up for my five year old, which this kept her very entertained while we waited for a table, plus he made notice of her being intrigued so kept her smiling. This is exceptional service and their pizza is worth the wait! They also have a quaint little room in the back for birthday parties, which we have reserved twice for my daughter! The whole family looks forward to her birthday dinner! read more

I discovered Original Pizza many years ago when I was working in Broomfield, and even after I left that company I would make the drive from Boulder to eat here. So when I moved back to Boulder after 5 years in San Francisco, this was on my short list of places to visit. Last night we ordered our mainstay dishes from Original Pizza and were very disappointed in the quality. The lasagna must have been a couple of days old and didn't seem to have the same whole milk mozzarella in it, the manicotti was still decent, but the meatballs were terrible. They were really fatty. Things probably would have been passable, but it was all way way way too salty. A lot of kids in the kitchen, I hope somebody is keeping an eye on the quality...somebody please hide the salt shaker. I've been looking for a new pizza place in Broomfield. I went in, and tried this place for take-out. Unfortunately, I'm not very impressed at all. Although the pizza was OK, the garlic knots were pretty thoroughly burned. All this for $18.00. I went here tonight with some friends and didn't experience the bad service everyone was talking about. I have to say though, after reading some of the humorous reviews on their "bad service incidences" I was sort of hoping to witness something altogether uncommon in Denver. The three of us each had something different and each of us have somewhat contrasting views. I had cannelloni, one friend had a calzone and another ravioli. I liked the cannelloni. It came with a salad which was dressed with a store bought type Italian dressing. One friend liked the ravioli; the other did not like the calzone because the Italian sausage tasted in their words like "gyro meat". I thought the sauce was good. They served garlic bread and sauce prior to the meal. Back to service, the friend who didn't like his calzone was asked if he wanted his check comped and he told them "no". When they delivered the check they comped him anyway, apologized and offered him a dessert on the house. He declined. I worked in an Italian restaurant years ago, in a small town, in the deep south, which was not really authentic Italian food although it was good Italian-American food for a great price. We have ordered pizza here twice. The first time, the pizza was okay, a little greasy, though. However, even though we called in the pickup order, my husband still had to wait over an hour - after arriving there when we were told it would be ready. But the pizza was okay and they gave us a coupon for a free pizza. The second time, we used the coupon. It was ready on time. However, it was soaking in grease and some pieces had only 2 pieces of pepperoni on them. Both times, the people were not rude, but not exactly friendly, either. Same for the person who answered the phone both times. We will not be going back for a 3rd try. Not worth the calories or the money - even when it's free! read more
