We visited them for lunch hours, expecting the service to be quick. First the service was super slow that we never saw our server to refill water, to generally check on the customer or bring a cheque after they took our order and brought the food. I mean, either be a self service place so it makes things easier for a quick bite or let the customer know that be done and pay at register. Now, my order of veg pad kee mow, (with specification of no meat, shell fish, fish sauce, oyster sauce), came with a piece of chicken. There were two pieces of chicken found in my apparent veg meal and my colleague tested to confirm. I lost my appetite after that. We were staying at a close by hotel that is conveniently walking distance. The food was delicious but I had better. I did like that the waiter asked if we wanted anything non spicy but for the Tom Kha it needs it and I like how he said he could have it made mild. I really liked the soup but the chicken satay was only ok because the peanut sauce was very plain to me. Else where I usually love dipping everything in that sauce but it really just tasted like plain sauce peanut. The roti was a too crunchy for me, my favorite Thai place has theirs a bit more moist. We came in the early evening and had the restaurant to ourselves for a bit but they did get more customers and a lot of to go takeout orders. The decor inside is lovely. Small location but convenient enough to get a Thai fix. There are so many other Asian places to eat next to them but I looked ahead and their menu prices are very reasonable so we came here. Loved the food at Thai orchid. Tucked near orchard pkwy, went here for an office lunch and turned out to be a very good choice. The place looked very authentic and it was a chic place with full tables. We were seated quickly and the starter soup was soo yummy!!!! I ordered the duck curry for take out. The curry itself was tasty and on the sweeter side. There was a lot of fruit inside like pineapple and lychee instead of the usual vegetables but it was okay. The issue was the duck, which tasted extremely old and stale. It had a cardboard taste and was dark in color, which happens to poultry as it starts to expire. The duck was also the most expensive protein, which cost way more than the other options like chicken. I honestly do not think it should be served to customers. Pretty disappointing. read more

Pad Woon Sen always reminds me of a homecooked meal from home. I enjoy getting it from here! The noodles are cooked well, so they don't stick together. The dish is a bit oily, but overall savory and flavorful. They give lots of cabbage and egg. I appreciate that the chicken was tender! If you come during lunch, they give you complimentary veggie soup too. I also tried the Pad Thai and it was delicious! Flavored very well and had the perfect chewy noodles. It's pretty oily though, especially if you pair it with fried tofu. More oily than the pad woon sen. I recommend bringing your own water bottle if you can. I ordered Pad Kee Mao to-go. I'm very surprised how crowded this place is for lunch, considering how disappointing the food is. The chicken was dry as paper and the noodles unflavored. Ordering takeout was pretty simple. Food was ready in about 15 minutes after ordering by phone. Pad Thai || $14 Got this with chicken. I was a bit disappointed after opening the box up. The box wasn't filled as full as I'd expected and they also gave me the awkward rind portion of a lemon which doesn't give you quite as much of a juice squeeze as a normal middle lemon wedge. Taste wise, the noodles were sweet and didn't have much of a tamarind flavor. Bean sprouts were limp. They were also pretty skimpy with chicken pieces. Pad See Ew || $14 I usually love pad see ew, but unfortunately also was not very impressed with this dish here. There was slightly more chicken in this dish than the Pad Thai. Flavor was lacking. I've eaten lunch at Thai Orchid on 1st Street a couple of times. Most recently, I went with a large group of a dozen coworkers. The restaurant did a good job getting drinks, soup, and appetizers out to us. For the most part, the orders came out in a good amount of time. Really want to like this place but I think something was just off that day. We started off strong with the appetizers. Tom yum soup was a bit sour for me, but according to my dad it was good and hit the spot. The crispy shrimp rolls were also very delicious and filling. Our entrees took a while to come out, even though there were only 2 other parties in the restaurant. It did seem like they had a lot of take out orders though, as every few minutes someone would walk through the door to pick up their order. I got the chicken pad see ew. It was flavorful and noodles were cooked very well, but just a bit too salty. I drank my whole glass of water and still couldn't quite finish it. I had a piece of my dad's spicy catfish and it was good. There was just one waiter for the restaurant, which seemed fine, but I think he was taking phone orders, packing up to go orders, etc. so it took us a while to get his attention for the check + togo boxes. Given the number of people we saw getting takeout, I don't doubt that they serve delicious food! My pad see ew experience was just pretty disappointing . read more
