Was toooo sweet n salty, added Limes still didnt change the taste, the meat was sooo tender like they added baking soda or baking powder in it. Diff kind of veggies when its not necessary at all n who put carrots in the beef salad??? 2nd dish was amok, doesnt taste like amok at all, and who put square chopped cabbages inside amok and wasn't even in a banana leave was like a stir fry fish in a curry. Salty n tooo sweet, Soup wasn't khmer traditional soup at all, all kinds of veggies like leftover veggies in a fridge just throw it in a pot n cook regular with no aroma smell in it. Whoever the chef is, need to go to Cambodian and learn from the old folk or real khmer foods... I wouldnt be there again til they improve the ingredients they put in and have a real khmer chef taste the foods. Very low quality food. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and unfortunately I was very disappointed. The quality is very low grade and I didn't feel good while eating it or after. Will not be returning to the Thaibodia San Jose location. My husband and I ordered takeout yesterday, and we both ended up with food poisoning and diarrhea that night and into today. We ordered the Yellow Curry with Sliced Chicken, Basil Fried Rice with Sliced Beef, and Ginger Sautéed with Sliced Pork -- all mild. The chicken tasted stale and had an unpleasantly mushy texture, like it had been sitting for far too long. The pork was even worse; I found a piece that appeared to be a lymph node, and it grossed me out. To top it off, the Basil Fried Rice had uncooked white rice throughout. We brought the food back and requested a refund. For context, I've been to the Thaibodia Milpitas location before and had a great experience -- delicious food and good value. I had dinner delivered from Thaibodia earlier this week and it was delicious. I had the Rama Thai and yellow curry chicken. The Rama Thai was perfect but the yellow curry was too spicy, even though I ordered it mild (this could be an issue specifically with me because I'm overly sensitive to spice). Not wanting to throw away $20 worth of food, I added coconut milk from my own kitchen to the yellow curry to cut the spice and it tasted wonderful. Tonight I decided to try Thaibodia again and ordered just the Rama Thai. The chicken is supposed to sit on a bed of raw spinach, but instead there were just some tiny pieces of spinach and cabbage. I totally forgot to ask for everything to be spicy and she didn't ask spice level either... So remember to mention the SPICE LEVEL! It's not spicy at all otherwise but they had peppers on the side you could add with everything. Chive puffs was probably my favourite. Had a coconut sauce with it too. Food: overall, they taste good but the Tom Kha soup is way too salty, and we have to add some water ourselves to get it balanced. The chicken in all dishes is well cooked; very tender. We ordered medium spicy for all of the food and it's just about the hotness we want. Service: When we entered the restaurant around 8 we were told that they are closing at 9 yet the business hour on Yelp and Map is 9:30 so we were a bit surprised as there were no notice on the door even if it's a day before the holiday. (The Google Map is showing 9pm though. Hope the business owner can make sure info are aligned and updated) Ambiance: clean and nice. Casual meal or family dinner is recommended. read more

Stopped by for a late lunch. I had ordered the food online.it said it would be 15 minutes. I pulled up right in front. There's only street parking no lot. The place was completely empty,but than again it was 3pm. The guy behind the counter was friendly and asked if I was there to pick up a order. He came back with a very heavy and extremely hot package. I thought it was a bit expensive till I got home and saw how big the portion was. Easily enough for 2 to share. There was also plenty of shrimp. Not the normal 6 shrimps per serving like most places. The taste was good,but a little dry. I prefer my pad thai with a bit more sauce. We ordered Tom yum with shrimp extra hot. Wow it was full of flavor and texture and taste. Hands down a winner. Went to the Basil chicken. Very good with chicken strips not ground chicken. Food- they asked spice preferences, and even though I selected mild/no spice, they put a ton (TON!) of jalapeños peppers in practically every dish! So much, that I couldn't really eat it. The yellow chicken curry was also weird. It was fried chicken placed in a yellow curry sauce. The breading was too thick, all I could taste was the flour. The potstickers were also in a sauce that made them soggy and overly sweet. I threw away what I didn't eat, which meant I threw away a lot of food. Perhaps dining in versus delivery would make a difference, but I was super bummed about this meal. Came by today because we were heading our way home from Santa Cruz and i was craving Thai food. Since this restaurant has great reviews, I thought we'd give it a shot. When we first walked in, we noticed a very nauseating scent. It smelled like sewage. I thought it would go away. As we walked into to be seated, the smell got worse. Pretty tasty Thai food. Prices seemed average compared to other Thai places in the area. I ordered thru their website and picked up in the restaurant. From the menu photos on yelp, it looks like a year ago they used to have a great deal for 3 dishes for $30 or 4 for $40 something. That definitely doesn't exist anymore. Now it was 3 for $38 on their website but it excluded curries and certain proteins so it didn't seem worth it unless you already only wanted the exact things that are part of the deal. The 4 item one was $55 or something like that but it was "sold out" on their website lol This is definitely more of a takeout place rather than dine in. When I picked up my food at 1pm on a Sunday, there wasn't a single customer there, and it was too hot in the dining area for me to be comfortable on this 90° day, so I would only go there for takeout personally. Decent portions, everything felt very heavy and will last for multiple meals. I got yellow curry with shrimp, pad see ew with beef, and white rice since the curry doesn't come with it. Total was about $44. I ordered the noodles with no spice and the curry mild, but it tasted like the opposite. Noodles were white people spicy / Thai mild and curry was white people medium / Thai no spice. Flavors were all great. Potatoes in the curry were a little undercooked and the noodles were a little overcooked, but still pretty good. I'd go back. read more

I wasn't a fan of the spring rolls to gummy for me but the pad see-ew OMG. The meat was tender and plenty of it and the vegetables were cooked properly. The noodles were just right not sticky. You get a nice portion where you can share with someone or just have lunch or dinner the next day. Okay, this Thai Cambodian restaurant has some real positives and some negatives. 1st the positives: value/quantity! In this era of rising prices and smaller portions, Thaibodia bucks this phenomenon. Granted we ordered 5 dishes plus rice, we probably could have fed 8 people at least for the $80 bill. Not just veggies and starches. Every dish had a crazy amount of protein. Very impressive. The other really standout was their garlic Cajun crispy chicken stir fry dish with French fries. What? Thai food? Well it was a first for me but this was the best dish of the bunch. Lots of crispy chicken. A real tasty surprise. The negative: Thai food is all about complex flavors and spices...and heat. This food lack heart. No strong complex flavors, no heat even though we order every dish spicy hot. This was disappointing. This restaurant needs to send the chef to Bangkok and get inspired. The curry sauces need more paste, Basil forward dishes you should taste the Thai basil, get a variety of peppers, not just boring green bell peppers, don't be afraid to add chilis if your customers ask for the dishes spicy hot. The food portion was very generous compared to other thai restaurants, with the food tasting sort of mediocre and homemade, nothing amazing. Even the thai iced tea was surprisingly weak in flavor and sort of watered down. Prices were cheaper than other thai restaurants we've ordered from in the bay. Given the stellar reviews and the want for Thai food, we went to Thaibodia Bistro on New Year's Day for dinner. It was totally empty at 7:00 PM but there was a constant amount of delivery drivers coming in and out. It was a 1 person show which was appropriate. One other party came in for the hour and change that we were there. The ambiance is pretty much lackluster. A bunch of tables and chairs in a long, rectangular area. Nothing to write home about. You scan a QR code to view the menu but the staff takes your order. He was courteous and helpful. When we were deciding whether to order a 3rd dish, he said their portions are on the large side. This was very much appreciated! The Tom Yum soup was very good. The small says it's for 2-3 people but in the small rice bowls, we dished out about 9 portions! We ordered shrimp and they (6) were large. There wasn't a huge amount of vegetables in it but it was a fair amount. We ordered pork larb and it was very good. It was a tad sweeter than I'm used to. I'm used to it being more sour. In retrospect, I could have probably asked for some lime which would have fixed it. Nonetheless, it was still representative. We also ordered the beef pad see-ew. The beef was really tender but the taste was a bit lacking. It didn't have the smoky flavor of a well seasoned wok/cooking vessel and while I did taste what seemed to be oyster sauce, it didn't have the flavor profile of a typical pad see-ew. The one thing I should also mention is that they had some pesky gnats that were flying around. It didn't help the dining experience. They didn't make the cut to be a 5 given the experience and I'm also being a little generous with 4 stars. I'd say they're just a little short of that... The pad thai I also ordered mild, but it was more bland that way so next time I will opt for medium or spicy. Otherwise, order was ready in a timely manner.
