My husband Spent almost $200 here today getting food for his mom and our family. I don't know what was up with that beef taco though. Some kind of Mess for real! The Original Taco Pete in Los Angeles is one of those neighborhood spots that instantly makes you understand why locals love it. While visiting family, I casually mentioned wanting tacos, and before I could finish my sentence, everyone excitedly said, "You have to go to Taco Pete down the street and get the shrimp tacos." I drove just a few miles from my cousin's home near the Leimert Park area and found this Black owned gem buzzing with energy. It was close to closing, and you could tell they were still busy, but the team handled everything smoothly. While I waited for my order, a few guests spoke with the owner, who was kind and pleasant, taking a moment to chat with everyone in good spirits. I ordered ten shrimp tacos, and they were everything I hoped for. Crispy, flavorful, and seasoned perfectly. They were so good that I could have easily eaten three in one sitting without realizing it. The prices were reasonable, the service was friendly, and the food was top tier. Taco Pete clearly holds a special place in the community, and after one visit, I completely understand why. I will start by saying I gave this establishment a 5 star because I love coming here, it's a childhood memory for me growing up and it gives the hood fried shell tacos you make at home but don't feel like cooking type. As of May 6th I won't be returning for a while. There was a young lady by the name of Teya M that was printed on my receipt and her attitude was very dismissive and agitated. Got Taco Pete delivered to the crib from Postmates last night for dinner and it did not disappoint. FYI they have a deal on Postmates where you can get a BOGO deal for the Supreme Burrito and Colossal Burger right now. With a deal like that OF COURSE I took advantage, got 4 items plus tip for $41 bucks. We got the steak burrito and it was full of flavor and meat. By far some of the worst customer service I've experienced. The employees are rude, unprofessional, and act like taking your order is an inconvenience. Every time I call, there's attitude from the second they answer the phone. Instead of basic customer service like asking for my name, they just bark "anything else?" like they're trying to rush you off the phone. I ordered lunch here on April 2 and was extremely disappointed. I got the burrito fries, and the food was cold, basic, and not worth the price at all. The last time I was here was at their OG location on the corner of 120th and Central Ave. I love the upgrade to the menu and the new location, the service was A1 and quick I waited maybe 5 minutes for 4 tacos. I ordered the 1x Beef, 1x Turkey, 1x Shredded Chicken and 1x Birria hard shell tacos. The birria was a new one i hadn't seen. I didn't like it, the birria consume made the shell soggy and the beef wasn't tender. The shredded chicken one was kinda dry but it still smacked. My favorites were the ground beef and ground turkey, well seasoned juicy and tender these pair well with their guacamole salsa. It's bussin', trust me. read more

Update: I guess the food here is still delicious (I haven't been back nor ordered from DoorDash). I stopped eating here and this is why: Once, while I was there, a DoorDash driver politely asked for hot sauce, and the lady behind the counter told him, "We don't have any made." After he left, she casually told another employee to start preparing it. I watched as the young lady simply poured the sauce from a large container into the small containers they come in. That was such poor customer service! They could have easily poured some for the driver instead of brushing him off. I've also ordered from this place about four times through DoorDash, and three of those times, the hot sauce was missing. Another time something else was missing. Knowing what I know, they simply don't care if you get the hot sauce or not. Truthfully, the combination of the hot sauce with the taco's flavor is what I love most. Without the hot sauce the taco just isn't the same. After witnessing that kind of customer service and experiencing their laziness and lack of care firsthand, I haven't gone back. I ordered the turkey taco special which comes with three tacos filled with guacamole, cheese, sour cream and fries and a drink. My total was about 20 dollars. They do not skimp on the portions. Today was my first time trying OTP. I ordered three ground beef tacos and one Jr. Burrito. I did not like the taste or texture of the beef, yuck! I had to call and ask what's the difference between a hard and fried shell. The young lady that answered the phone was pleasant enough, but maybe I should have asked for the hard shell. She told me the fried shell would be like the tacos I make at home, that's what I should have done, made my own because these tacos don't taste like any I have made at home. My homemade tacos are actually good and have some crunch from the shell and the lettuce. Everything was just mushy. I ordered the Angus beef but the meat was not very flavorful and on the dry side. It also had lots of lettuce very little meat and a tiny pinch of cheese.
