I've had a lot of Thai food restaurants and this place is not only a great price and large portions but this is also authentic cuisine! I can't recommend this place enough for the quality of the food, and the chefs can make it very spicy if that's what you like. The location isn't the greatest and the dining interior is plain but if you want good Thai food in Reno, this place is on your list. The owners are genuine and make it fresh. It is a small place by the Vista Mart/ gas station but don't let it's unpretentious looks put you off, It will take a few minutes to fully appreciate the extent of the menu. I started with my measuring stick pad Thai and was not disappointed. I was there between two doctors appointments and was limited to the lunch menu so as not to have leftovers to deal with. Their lunch menu was very reasonable-$10.99 included a cucumber salad, excellent egg roll along with the very good pad thai, They had so many more items that I want to come back for. My friend and I rotate picking dinner locations for our monthly get together and I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a little anxious about this choice based on its location alone & being connected to a gas station. So moral of the story - don't choose a book by it's cover. Inside this place is a well kept and obviously well loved restaurant. In the hour we were there I noticed at minimum 5 groups or individuals that were clearly regulars. It is soo obvious that the owner cares not only about the food he's providing but the community he's building as well, which is a beautiful thing. Now onto the food. The Thai iced tea was good, very sweet. The pad Thai was great. I got it with pork which I haven't done before, but the flavors melded well. I've been meaning to get to this place for quite a while, especially since it's in my "neck of the woods" and I drive by it every weekday on my way to and from my day job in radio. I'm sure glad that my buddy and I stopped in for dinner the other night....what a treat! From what I understand, this location used to be a hamburger joint and it still looks like a hamburger joint. Small space, some basic booths, a few tables, nothing special in the way of decor, but, don't let the looks deter you, the food was delicious. The building is separated from, but still attached to a gas station mini-mart! We were seated immediately by a very friendly and helpful older gentleman that I assume is the owner. Water was served promptly, along with menus delivered. After a sufficient time for us to peruse the menu, which has all the classic Thai style dishes, he came back to take our order. We got an appetizer to share and an entrée each. Appetizer: [#11] Hoy Jor ($10.95) [Deep fried minced pork, shrimp and crab meat wrapped in dried bean curd served with plum sauce.] Great combination of flavors wrapped in a flaky, crispy crust. The Bean Curd it was wrapped in reminded me of Phyllo dough...it had that kind of lightness, texture and flakiness. The plum sauce for dipping was a great compliment to all the flavors...it wasn't thick, cloying or overly sweet, either. My friend's entrée: [Chef's Special C2] Pad Kana Moo Grob ($17.95) [Stir fry crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli and Thai chili in light oyster sauce.] He ordered Brown Rice with it. A very generous portion and the amount of protein was way more than expected! The taste I had was amazing. Perfectly cooked crispy Pork Belly and the Chinese Broccoli had a great texture to it. My buddy has a very low tolerance to spice. He got the basic "0 stars" spice level, but the Thai Chilies that are part of the dish just about blew him up...LOL! I tried one and the spice level was up there. My friend picked them out as he ate, but said that the flavor they imparted was enjoyable to him. My go-to dishes when I visit a "new to me" Thai restaurant are either Pad Thai or Drunken Noodles. You need to know...I have a very high spice level. I asked what their "spice level rating" was and he told me that they go 0-4 stars. I said I wanted a 7 star. He smiled and said, "Oh...you want Thai hot"! I told him a definite YES...LOL! Mind you, I don't get it that spicy just for it to be hot...I want a balance between flavor and heat...they did this with a very deft hand. This was as good as it gets! Again, a very generous portion and the amount of protein was way more than expected! The Duck was tender and delicious, the veggies were cooked perfectly and the noodles had just the right "bite" to them...not mushy or gummy at all. What a quaint place! The service was GREAT and the food was PHENOMENAL!! My family all had the same consensus, best Thai food hands down! The Crab Rangoon had plenty of filling, the two different Pad Thais and Chow Mein were delicious and plentiful!! The Spring Rolls were huge and fresh. If you know me, you know I'm particular about Thai food. I have my favorites, and I visit each for totally different dishes, which keeps Thai food experiences novel time and time again, and that keeps me coming back. A friend and local Thai restaurant owner suggested I check out Original Thai for their Northern Thai specialties, so when we found ourselves nearby, we had to go for it. My wife ordered red pumpkin curry with chicken and for the kids, Drunken Noodles, both solid versions. I ordered Pad Kana Moo Grob, which crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli and Thai chili in a light, garlic laden, oyster sauce, which was on point as well. The sauce was light but silky and coated everything. The the lightly toasted garlic added a nice spicy note that was great contrast in the sweet and salty and earthy oyster sauce. Last we ordered the Hoy Jor, a ground pork and shrimp sausage that's wrapped in a bean curd skin and then deep fried, served with a sweet dipping sauce. This was a nice addition to the meal in texture and flavor. It's dense and meaty but also eats like fried food too. I recommend it all. Next time we're getting the Isan sausage for sure, and there are some other exciting dishes, like yum wioon sen, that I left for the next time. Get some! read more

You get hit with such an amazing amount of flavor that it makes you want to keep eating, every bite better than the last. Their pad thai is always my go to, it's the best I've ever had here in Reno. The location is somewhat misleading as it's connected to a gas station but inside ambience is very cozy. Every dish we have tried has always been good. I can't believe I've never given a review before because I come here all the time and it's definitely one of my favorite places to eat. I almost always get the Chicken Pad Thai (extra spicy) and the Tom Yum Soup. I was planning on just getting the Pad Thai lunch special but then I noticed the Ka Tiem Prik Thai (garlic and black pepper) and thought why haven't I tried this before, I love garlic. So I got both and now have plenty of leftovers for tomorrow. Holy moly I'm so glad I did!! It's crispy fried garlic on top of your choice of protein and super delicious!! The lunch specials come with cucumber salad, 1 egg roll and a choice of rice or rice noodles (except no rice with the Pad Thai) for $11. It's a great deal and enough to feed me for lunch plus dinner. The Pad Thai is still my favorite but everything I've eaten here is fantastic and the man working at the counter is fantastic as well. Was craving their pineapple fried rice, which I order everytime... this time I decided to add crab to it... when the dish came, I knew there was something different about it because the essence of the curry was none existent. When I brought it to the servers attention... he went to the kitchen to find out and he came back with the response that by choosing to add the crab, they gave me some basic fried rice that didn't have any of the same ingredients as the pineapple fried rice to preserve the crab! It would have been nice to have know prior to, than just bringing me out a dish I didn't order. There was no offer of fixing it or of taking it off the bill, considering I didn't want fried rice, I went specifically for the curry based pineapple rice. Which is completely different than what was presented at my table. I have been on the service industry for 20 years, and was very disappointed today. I've been obsessed with Thai food for many, many years and this place has the best Thai food I have ever had in my LIFE. It is incredibly authentic and was absolutely mind blowing. I will never go anywhere else for Thai food. We ordered the curry puffs, Tom Kha, Panang curry, and Pad Thai. Every dish was absolutely incredible. Everything has an absolutely perfect flavor profile. Even though we were full, we couldn't keep our hands off every dish as we were waiting for to-go containers. This place is very authentic and delicious! At the table we got a Thai tea, drunken noodle, curry and garlic beef dish. It was all phenomenal! Before I left I was already planning my next meal. Probably the curry and a mango sticky rice. I did see that they had good reviews so I was a bit surprised it was attached to a gas station. But don't let that detour you. I love this Thai Restaurant. I use to order lunch from them at my old job 1-2 times a week. Their online menu menu made ordering easy. The food is delicious, fresh. and full of flavor, the lunch specials fair in price, and the serving sizes good - most also came with fresh cucumber. They also never shied away from adding a lot of spice to my dishes. I loved how spicy my lunches would be. My favorite dishes there are their Pad Kra Tiem with Tofu, their Green Curry with Tofu. and their Pumpkin Curry with Tofu. The staff (and maybe owner) were also very nice to me and greeted me by my name when I walked in. I am sad that my new job is so far away from this restaurant, I miss my super spicy takeout lunches with them. 110% recommend, it is my second favorite Thai restaurants in town. read more

Ordered carryout. PAD GRA PROW MOO GROB Description says "Stir fry crispy pork belly with green bean Thai chili and basil in house sauce.." A) not sure what type of basil was used but it was NOT Thai basil. There was 7 leaves in the fish and appeared to be hard in texture. Fresh basil leaves softens up when cooked and has green stem. The ones in the dish were hard in texture and had a white hard stem. I'm not sure what the leaves were. B) pork belly was NOT crispy at all. It was very soggy with more fat than meat. Typically when pork belly is fried correctly, the fat part turns crispy C) house sauce was EXTREMELY salty and no flavor SHRIMP SPRING ROLL The spring roll was about 5-6 inches that consisted of mostly iceberg lettuce, 1 Thai basil leaf (true Thai basil) , carrots, and ONE shrimp that was halved. The carrots was not spread evenly. I've seen placed that adds enough shrimp to the size of the spring roll. In this case typically 4 pcs of shrimp to this size even if it's halved. Not true Thai food in my opinion. read more

Was skeptical of eating here due to the location and I definitely should have listened to myself. I came here last week for the first time, I ordered the pad se ew with chicken, first he tried to charge me $20 for a $12 dish and when I pointed it out on the menu he started coming up with excuses. I waited about 20 minutes for my food which seemed normal, once I received it I started to drive home and thought about the smell of the food being off and almost.... Sour like. I should have thrown it out then but I was starving so I ended up eating it. Here I am a week later, 1 hospital visit and 7 days of antibiotics. I ended up with the worst food poisoning I have ever gotten. PLEASE, DO NOT EAT HERE. I have no clue how this place is open and has so many good reviews, that is beyond me. read more

This is our go to take out restaurant! It is very consistently good Thai food. I love their curries and pad Sen ew.

A friend comes to eat here often and suggested this for a quick dinner take out. At first sight I didn't think it would be all that great but I was so wrong. After walking in we were immediately greeted with a friendly smile and felt welcomed. The menu was easy to read and ordering was a snap. We sat at one of the tables to wait for our take out food. There were several tables and the place seemed to be pretty clean. We noticed it looked pretty empty but a lot of people were ordering take out. We did not wait long for our order and they even gave us plates and utensils to eat on. The food was amazing. The vegetable curry was better than some of the other more popular places here in town. The only thing I would change would be to make the potatoes a little bit smaller. Next was the tofu rice. Once again it was so delicious. The tofu was cooked perfect. I even took the left overs to work for lunch the next day I love Thai food and I will defiantly be making this one of my regular places to eat.
