My favorite restaurant for lunch! You just can't beat the $13.00 lunch deals here. I simply can't resist their pad thai with shrimp with a small salad/peanut dressing. It is delish! This is one of our favorite places to order Thai Food. We went here for a late lunch after driving back from California on I 80. This restaurant is located off of Robb Drive. The ambiance is very basic and clean when you eat there but the service is great! We ordered a Pad Thai spice level one which my husband liked but said it was too spicy at that level. I ordered the non-Sizzling spinach and chicken dish. I like how they stir fry the spinach and the yellow curry sauce was good but not great. It was on the watery side today . Usually it's coconut milk with a yellow curry. I've ordered a lot of food here before so my favorites are the yellow curry with vegetables and chicken. First time trying Bangkok Express and was pleasantly surprised with just how good everything tasted. We had the chicken yellow curry, Bangkok non-sizzling platter, tofu fresh rolls, and brown rice. The yellow curry came with a piece of roti (a pleasant, tasty surprise) and chock full of potatoes and chicken. The fresh rolls were packed full of goodies and a meal in themselves. The only thing missing for me and why I didn't give five stars, was the peanut sauce was quite bland and lacked a peanutty taste. It didn't add anything to the fresh roll. In fact, for me it was a distraction from fully enjoying one of my fave Thai go-to's. The non-sizzling platter was another dish with plenty of spinach, tofu, and other veggies to make a complete meal. The yellow curry was a perfect spice level. Again, the accompanying peanut sauce was lacking. Would I go again? Yes, I would. Only this time, I'd ask if they could peanut up the peanut sauce. read more

I've only visited once for take-out, but I was very happy with my food. It was ready on time from what I was told on the phone, and the food was all fresh and really yummy. I got shrimp pad Thai and an order of fresh rolls. The price was what I expected, eating out has gotten expensive but this place seems on par with other similar places and the portion size was good. I went here for dinner last night and this place did not disappoint! Our waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable of the menu, and food came out very quick! For appetizers we started off with tofu springs rolls, shrimp spring rolls and fried calamari. The peanut sauce for the spring rolls were so delicious, it tasted so fresh. The fried calamari was amazing and I loved the wise it came with. For my entree I got shrimp and tofu pad Thai and it was so delicious. I am trying to work on my spice tolerance and got it at a level 3 and it was the perfect spice for me. Will definitely be coming back, I highly recommend trying this place out:) read more

I brought my family here and ordered the Teriyaki Chicken for my kids. The menu says it's deep-fried chicken, but when I asked the waitress about grilling it instead, she said they don't deep fry it anymore and that the menu just hasn't been updated. When the food came out, both of my kids immediately spit out their first bite. The chicken was extremely tough and chewy. Looking closer, we discovered a large bone running right through the middle of the pieces, which is not something you expect when ordering teriyaki chicken for children. When we told the waitress the food was inedible and showed her the bone, she shrugged it off and said that's just how it's made. We asked if the dish could be refunded since it clearly wasn't eaten, and the answer was simply no. Between the misleading menu, poor food quality, and refusal to make it right, it was a very disappointing experience. read more

This place is awesome! It's in the northwest part of town, and it's always packed, so be prepared for a wait. But trust me, it's worth it. The udon noodle with combo meat is the bomb! The shrimp are super fresh, and everything comes out piping hot, even when the place is packed. Just be sure to let them know how spicy you want it. I like it hot, so I get a 4, and it's plenty spicy. The seating is really nice, and the decor is cool. I've never had a bad experience here. read more

We picked up Deep Fried Spring Rolls, Roti, Stir Fried Broccoli with Beef, and Spicy Chicken Cashew. White rice was included with the entrees. Although the spring rolls and rice were good, the broccoli beef and chicken dishes along with the roti were less than desirable. The roti was greasy and only included one small piece. The broccoli beef's texture was very tough, the sauce was watery, and was lacking in flavor. The Spicy Chicken was also tough, it was not very spicy, and it too lacked in flavor. I usually look forward to stopping here at the Bangkok Cuisine Express when I'm passing thru Reno on the 80 either way west or eastbound. Wow, it's just been like 5 mouths maybe since I was last here and , damn, they must of changed cooks or something, cause the food for sure took a dive downhill. I mean it wasn't totally terrible or anything , but wasn't the stellar quality it once was. We ordered dishes I've had here before so I do have something to compare to from the last time. The insides still looks all the same and there was a decent crowd here for lunch. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao, aka. drunken noodles and the Sukiyaki Hang Noodles. Even a standard dish like the drunken noodles was just bland, well, more bland then it's supposed to be. It might be average in flavor if you never tasted how good it once was here. Same with the Sukiyaki Hang Noodles. That dish was even missing some main ingredients, like the fish that was included before. It used to be quite an intricate flavored dish and this time it was just a simple dish with not as much flavor experiences in the dish. Service was nice as usual, but with this drop in food flavors, I think I'll be skipping this place in the future. Probably head to Verdi to the Sasquatch instead. read more

Whenever I find myself in northwest Reno I try to go to Bangkok express. I love pad Tai and find that most places that I can find it at, the noodles are glaggy or that it's basically noodles in tomatoe sauce. Bangkok express has the best Pad Tai in town. The service is very friendly and the food is fast. The few times that I have stayed and not gotten my food to go it's been very quiet. No loud music playing but you can hear and see the kitchen but that doesn't bother me. I will say that be careful how spicey you order your food because they are not messing around. I typically get a 7 when I go to other Tai places but here I get a 5. I will say I have never gotten a dish here that I do not like. Even though I love the pad Tai I do find myself always debating on get the pepper garlic chicken. read more

We have frequented this location for quite some time now, because it's the only Thai place near where we live, and the food is pretty good. However their consistency with portions are terrible. We decided to get take out today because we wanted to eat at home. We got our usual dishes, so we know the usual portion sizes. I wish I took photos before we ate, but the portions were ridiculously minimal. This has happened before here. First time trying this place, so we came for lunch. They offer a pretty decent lunch menu option. Upon entering we were greeted and informed that we could sit anywhere we would like to. The dining area was fairly spacious and clean. Our server came and took our order and answered all of the questions that we had. Our food arrived shortly after. My husband was craving Thai food and this place hit the spot! It's close to our house, so it's easy to do takeout from here. We got deep fried pot stickers as an appetizer, you can choose fried or steamed. It came with 8 pieces, so 4 for each of us. My husband got pad thai and was excited that it came with both chicken and shrimp! He got spice level 8/10 and thought it was perfect. I went with spicy basil noodles with chicken and 7/10 spice. We came in on a SAT for lunch. There is no lunch special on the weekends, unfortunately. We ordered , in our order of favorite first: - Red Curry with Beef - Pad See Eew (soy sauce) Noodle with Beef - Yellow Curry with Beef - Pepper Chicken I like this location's taste and meat portions better than the other Bangkok. The rice was too small for the curries, however. We ordered extra rice and we're not charged for it. That was nice. Service was attentive. The server reminded me of the nice aunties in Thailand who always give you a warm smile. Bathroom was super clean. Always reassuring. It was Friday night, only a few table but they were packed, and just one waitress. The waitress was obviously very rude. We almost walked out right then. But we decided not to match her rudeness and ordered fried rice, lobster Pathai, and a papaya salad, the salad never came. The other food came but we could not eat; we sat and waited for that waitress to notice us because there was no silverware. It was a worst dining experience. My husband and I have been disappointed by the food in Reno over and over again. So at this point, any new place we try we have learned to keep our expectations low. What immediately drew us to try this place was the fact that their 'about' section on their website said that they are 'founded on the belief that the best Thai Food should be cooked By Thai.' It's a pet peeve of ours when we go into a specific type of restaurant and the people working there have zero familiarity with the food they're working with or the culture from which it comes. Anyway, we ordered the pad thai, level 10 heat, and the chicken yellow curry, level 5 heat. The pad thai was okay, but the curry was So good. It wasn't super heavy on the meat, but the flavor was delicious. It's definitely a comfort on a cold winter day type of meal. My husband and I plan to reorder again in the future and pour it over some boiled chicken from home to beef it up a little. Great service and really friendly! I have been to other Bangkok cuisine locations, but this was my first time at this one. From the time we walked in to when we left, the staff was really friendly and helpful. You can tell that the owner is really passionate and cares that everyone has a good experience. I was shocked at how fast our food came out and how on top of it they were. The food was delicious and I recommend the spicy basil noodles or the pad Thai. Last I came here to Bangkok Cuisine Express, I was disappointed with the lack of coating on the deep fried stuffed chicken wings. This visit I made my concerns known to the server and asked why it changed. I was told they changed the flour mix or something. I asked can I have it the "old" way and she said yes, we can fix it that way. Cool! I was much more pleased the way the wings came out. So if you like a little more coating on the wings, order it the "old" way! My main discovery this trip was one of the specials posted on the board as you walk in. It was called "Pinky Noodles" .... well, what could that be? It was described to me as thin rice noodles with a pink sauce served with shrimp, chicken and bean sprouts all topped by an egg. Sounded interesting so I ordered it. It was one of the more interesting Thai dishes I've had. Actually never has this dish or seen it anywhere else. The egg wasn't fried like I thought it might be, but was a scrambled patty cooked in the wok. It reminded me of noodles I've seen on the internet where the noodles are presented wrapped in a egg ish layer, like a noodle egg burrito sort of. The flavor was def Thai and unique. The best Thai in town!! If you go here, make sure you type in "express" in the maps. There's a few similar locations. The pad Thai is amazing. It's juicy and full of flavor, normally pad Thai is dry, this is far from that! The coconut curry is also so flavorful and hits the spot. They have odd hours and closed on and odd day, so just double check the hours. Sometimes the line rings for awhile because they're so popular for takeout. So worth it! read more
