I went here years ago when there was another deal going on. Today is the 80th anniversary so burgers are $0.80. 5:49 pm is when I got there. The wait was an hour and 27 min. The ambiance was alright. There are at least 4 tables at Tommy's. I like that there's a wheelchair ramp. It's open air so there was a breeze. Artificial lights are on. About 30 people were ahead of me. The line snaked around the parking lot. It seems worth it to a ton of people. I placed my order at 7:16 pm. I ordered the chili cheese burger. I was confused when the employee said it was the special and I said just the burger so it was my fault for being confused. Others ordered combos. The employee was patient with me and respectful. The limit is 3 burgers per person. No wonder the line is long, it snaked around the parking lot. Over 400 people were served so far. I got my order at 7:22 pm. The employee asked me for my number so I could be a rewards member. Then I gave it. When my order was ready, the employee asked if I wanted ketchup or yellow peppers. I answered with ketchup but I should've said neither. The ketchup packets were opened without me opening them. I was a cashier years ago. Sometimes ketchup would leak out of packets if it was too hot. Or maybe if they were packed tightly in the box. So now my bag might be stained because I put the burger inside it. Don't judge the burger by the photo! It actually is a great burger! When I lived in Los Angeles this was a common stop for me. A lot of memories with friends and families, as well as for my solo self. Tommy's is an old institutional burger joint of Los Angeles. LA is the only place where you can find Tommy's. The burgers or hot dogs are slathered in their classic original chili sauce. The service is friendly and quick. The menu is simple. The ambience is way casual and basic. I'm writing this with a heavy heart. My brother took his last breath on the lower level parking of this Tommy's property late Saturday night. May I add that this parking had zero cars yesterday and only one car today that belonged to the employee Chris. It was a small memorial with a cross and flowers flickering candles a way to honor him and be closer to him When we returned this afternoon everything had been removed. I asked the manager, Katherine, what happened. She called corporate but refused to give me a name or contact. When I pressed her about where the memorial went, she said, "My guess? They threw it in a bag and tossed it in the dumpster," with a completely cold and emotionless expression. Not even a "sorry for your loss." No compassion. No care. Just dry and ice cold it's policy and indifference. That wasn't just a cross. It was love, grief, the only place we could go to feel close to him as we wait and plan his funeral. And they treated it like trash. Shame on Tommy's and Katherine for showing zero empathy to a grieving family. Businesses like this need to remember we are human beings. I use a walker to get around. I went to Tommy's in Tujunga today for lunch. The store has a blue handicap sticker on the window by the register. I called the store from the handicap parking space in the parking lot to order a combo. I asked them to bring it out to me. I had cash for the order and a tip for the server. I can't use the walker and carry a food tray at the same time. The store manager answered the phone and refused to deliver it to me. She said she had no protocol for doing so, whatever that means. I'm still trying to process the disappointment that was the Chili Cheese Fries I ordered from Tommy's in Tujunga. The fries themselves were lukewarm and soggy, clearly having sat out for too long. The chili was bland and lacked any real depth of flavor, and the cheese... well, let's just say it was more like a sad, congealed oil slick than a creamy, melted delight. For a dish that's supposed to be a comforting, indulgent treat, these Chili Cheese Fries were a total letdown. 2/10, and that's being generous. The FREE burger certificate expires February 1, 2024 however, the employees at this location have been instructed by Martinez NOT TO ACCEPT THE CERTIFICATES BECAUSE THE HOLIDAYS ARE OVER! Is this manager a half-wit? There is clearly a printed expiration date on the professionally printed certificate. We purchased the gift card and now they aren't going to honor their own certificate? So my friend and I came here the other day for a quick bite to eat. We both ordered hamburgers with fries. I'm not really a big fan of this place because they're really heavy on the chili. My friend really seemed to enjoy it because he loves chili. If you like chili I would definitely recommend this place. The fries were pretty good compared to the burgers though. Time for an update. I went through a period of not eating meat products lasting a few years, but that time is behind me now and I am continuing my mission of finding the best burgers in the Los Angeles area. Today I went back to Tommy's in Tujunga for the first time in a few years. This place is closest to home, so today I stopped in for lunch. As is my habit, I eat lunch early so when I hit Tommy's at 1015 today I was the only customer, and the food came out quickly. I ordered the #1 combo, which is double chili cheeseburger with a medium drink and fries. All was perfect: The site was clean in spite of being at a busy traffic location on Foothill in the windy part of Tujunga. The lady order taker (no name tag) was friendly and helpful and also attempted to up-sell me on a couple of items. Good sales training! Burger patties were cooked just right, and Tommy's puts just the right balance of pickles and onions in the burgers along with the cheese and chili. The french fries are even more outstanding-completely peeled and bereft of all skin and sliced medium-sized. Perfect cooking today as well. Side note-many other burger places should replicate the french fries the way Tommy's does it. Recently I have run into a streak of places which have served outstanding burgers but which offer terrible fries because they are too damn cheap to peel the potatoes of all of the potato skin. I miss this Tommy's. It's located in a dicey part of town but after living in the IE during college, I've come to realize that it's not all that ghetto after all. I like this Tommy's better than the LA location because it's never crowded and when I lived in LCr, it was one of the few places that were open late. I can FEEL their thick chili clogging my arteries when I eat there. That coupled with a buttload of their fluorescent yellow chili peppers does not make for a pleasant BM the next morning, but it's never kept me back. read more

I've been a huge fan of Tommy's Original, for well over 30 years. My grandmother and some of my other family lived right across the street from the original location in Los Angeles. This location makes the exact recipe for the chili. Usually a franchise location isn't as good as the original, but this one was delicious! The staff here is friendly and welcoming. Trust me, I've been to quite a bit and not all locations have the best staff! I ordered three double cheeseburgers, two french fries, one chili fries, and one tamale with chili only. I requested double chili on all the hamburgers and on the chili fries and the chili tamale. The fries and the tamale definitely had the obvious extra chili. The hamburgers did not have the extra chili, which is disappointing because I paid for the extra! We didn't eat at the restaurant because we were hoping to get on the road quickly. This location is in Tujunga and we live in Carson. It's very disappointing to open your food while you're on the freeway, heading back home, and you discover your burger has less than normal chili! The worst part is I paid for it and didn't get it! That's why I purposely said no other condiments except chili only and extra chili! I love this location of Tommy's Burgers it is really good. And they prep the food really quick it is a little pricey but you do get a fully loaded Burger. It sucks that there isn't any inside seating but that's the case with Tommy's if you can't sit outside or take it home then just don't go there LOL. Wow! Gand hamer thali. I have never truly experienced a Golden lootz burger and a highly concentrated chili cheese fry like this in my entire life . Each bite was perfectly burning my throat as it went down into my stomach and blew the toilet the next day. The one downside was it cost me $80 for a new toilet, but other than that completely worth it. It was beyond my expectations and I will definitely bring someone that I don't like to eat here.
