Bob, Laurie, Gayle, and I all enjoyed a pleasant outdoor Brunch here last Sunday. The Bent Street Grill was recommended to us by our Santa Fe Footprints walking tour guide (Terry) and it was a solid experience. Service was friendly and the soft live acoustic guitar music in the background added nicely to the ambiance. Bob has a variety of food allergies starting with gluten and he was one happy camper as the menu offered him lots of options, with the menu notes helping to lead the way. Laurie needs to have her food plain, and there was plenty to choose from there. I was perhaps the least adventurous by ordering an old standby - The Tuna Melt. It was very tasty, although their version was more like fresh tuna salad on toast. Gayle was perhaps the most adventurous in her choice of Chicken and Waffles with Green Chile. She later mentioned that she loves all 3 flavors, but was unsure whether she liked them together. We also chose well in having our Brunch before visiting the Taos Pueblo, of which we hung out for quite awhile. There's no point in experiencing local culture while hangry. read more

Rolled into Taos a little early on a Monday and needed somewhere to kill some time before hotel check-in. Not many places are open on Mondays, so I was glad to find Bent Street Grille. It's a cute little café-style restaurant right in the plaza area. Getting seated was a little awkward at first, but once I was at the table the service picked up quickly and the food came out fast. Prices were reasonable and the food was good. I went with the Southwest Philly cheesesteak with beef. It's definitely not a traditional Philly, so die-hard purists might not love it, but I enjoyed the southwestern twist. The location is great too. Being right in the plaza makes it easy to wander the nearby shops before or after lunch. Solid spot if you're in Taos looking for a casual bite. read more

Very well seasoned and the cotijo cheese gave it a great blend. The bacon was applewood smoked and a lot of flavor. The restaurant is nestled in the perfect spot to get your grub on and then do some shopping. As you walk in, you are greeted by the open restaurant concept where you can see the chef's do their craft. It was clean and inviting. We sat towards the front of the restaurant and while it had a great view to their outside patio, it can get a bit squished and confined when they are packed full of people. The server was nice but not as attentive as you would hope for. Maybe she had a lot of tables to serve, we're not sure as we were only a few (at the beginning) to eat here. What we ordered: - huevos rancheros with Christmas sauce (both red & green sauce): the eggs were cooked great but the star of the dish was that red and green sauce! Wow! You want to talk about flavor and just the right amount of heat!!! This is definitely a different ranchero sauce than what we're used to in Texas but in a great way!!! My husband could lick the sauce off the plate. The hash browns were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and needed no additional seasoning because it had the right amount of salt! - chicken club: the chicken was a bit dry, the sourdough bread gave it a depth of flavor and they were not shy with the bacon! The French fries were very greasy as if the oil wasn't hot enough and the potatoes soaked all the grease. My son usually finishes his fries but didn't today. - bean and cheese burrito (kid): not sure where to start with this. I know a bean and cheese burrito can be different anywhere you go especially with different cultures and the area you're getting it from. In Texas, a bean and cheese burrito is refried pinto beans and topped with cheese. The burrito here is basically pinto beans but not smashed. It was whole and while my daughter tried to eat it, she just couldn't because of not only the texture but the flavor. Typically refried bean has flavor from either lard or some fat component and this just tasted like bland pinto beans and there was no cheese to be seen! She couldn't eat but a few bites. - mimosa: now I know some alcohol connoisseurs may appreciate this drink as it had way more of the bubbly champagne then orange juice but whatever the used tasted bitter and not drinkable! I like my mimosa with more orange juice than the bubblies! We couldn't drink it! - eggs Benedict: while I truly appreciate the craft and time it takes to make this dish because I make it home all the time and any chance I get I order this, the execution was not that good. The eggs were poached about 20 seconds too long. It was not runny and didn't have that ooey gooey goodness coming from the center. The spinach could have used a little love (aka seasoning) instead of just putting it there. There wasn't enough hollandaise sauce at all! It needed a lot more! With what I did tasted it needed more lemon! It needed a zing and it fell flat. The hash browns were cooked and flavored perfectly though! This is a super cute place to eat brunch. We were seeing other peoples plates and they all looked so delicious and appetizing! If we are back in the area, we would definitely give this another chance! New favorite breakfast spot. I am gluten free, so most of my breakfast options are akin to cardboard. Not this place- I tried both the GF waffles and the huevos rancheros (we went back the next day because it was so good) and both dishes I had there were incredible. It's rare to find a GF waffle, much less a delicious one, and the huevos rancheros were the best I've ever had. I also got a lavender latte with almond milk and that was sooo delicious too. The service was 10/10 both visits. Everyone is friendly, accurate and quick. If you're looking for a breakfast spot that is cozy and delicious, look no further!! read more

As early bird risers, we were looking for a place that opens early to get the day started. Came down and were greeted by the friendly cook as we were waiting for a table. Pepper who was our waitress was very welcoming and explained to me the difference of tres leche and spicy Mexican latte. I found this restaurant actually when I was searching through yelp when I was in Taos, New Mexico. We had nachos that tasted like they had chicken with possibly sage on them and puffy chunks of white tortilla, which is a different style than the Mexican food we've had in San Diego at home, but it was delicious and fresh and served hot and fresh on the patio. read more

Been living in Taos, NM now for two and a half years and been rotating around restaurants. Finally had an opportunity to try Bent Street Grille for the first time. Got in on a Saturday when there weren't too many people (this place tends to get busy). She-Ruben on sourdough with fries. The sandwich was huge, and fries a-plenty. Lots of flavorful meat in the sandwich. Had to take half home in a box. Delicious. He-chicken club with fries. Fries super tasty and again good helping size. The sandwich was a good size an I could not finish it, so in the box and home goes half. Portions are more than great for the value. Atmosphere is nice as this is on the edge of the John Dunn shops near the plaza. Great, attentive service. Will definitely go again. read more

I had a business lunch here with 8 people, with separate checks. The waiter was great and he worked around the flow of conversation. He managed to get all our food out in time and I didn't hear any complaints. I had the avocado toast and they made it vegan by adding vegan egg. Although the bread was not vegan, more effort was put into my meal than I'm used to. The fruit cup was fresh, colorful and ripe. Generous in portions, the meal was exceptional. I'm not sure what everyone had, but each plate made you want to ask if you could have a bite. It was a nice afternoon meal in the plaza on a beautiful fall day. My hotel suggested this place for a nice lunch. It was not too busy so I was able to get a nice table on the patio. My waitress came by right away and got my drink order. When she came back with my soda, I ordered my food. I did the Paseo de Reuben: Corned beef cooked on our griddle with sauerkraut (I held this), buttery cheese, on toasted marble rye with fries. The sandwich was very tasty. Good corned beef flavor. A few pieces were too chewy but overall a nice sandwich. Not too heavily dressed with thousand island dressing. Good fries. Starting to feel like we've ate at all the places in Taos worth eating at. The rest of these spots are barely floating along until an owner decides they're over it and closes up shop. It's a cute little place that maybe does better in the summer? Food was okay. Nothing about this place stood out and nothing was really good. Just another place that thinks they can jack up their food prices because we're in a town with a ski resort. I understand it's only busy 3 to 6 months out of the year for you but we shouldn't have to pay extra because of it. A great stop just off the main square in Taos ! This little Cafe is so cute ! After walking around the shops of Taos and exploring the square a bit, we were ready to rest our feet and get a good lunch in. Bent offered just that ! Location: It's right on the corner of a cute little walking street full of shops ! Sitting on the patio gives you a great view down the street and allows for some lovely people watching where everyone was happily enjoying their day and the weather ! Parking: There is plenty of free street parking in the area which was very convenient! Menu: The menu had everything you would think a little lunch spot would have, from sandwiches to salads and some other options as well. Everything is priced very reasonably and is super fresh and flavorful! I specifically want to note their SOUP MENU! Rarely do I find a place with extensive soup options (rather than just soup of the day). As a soup lover, I appreciated that so much! And I appreciated the cold gazpacho option even more since it was too hot for a warm soup option. It's also worth noting that the patio is dog friendly ! The inside itself is quite small with only a few tables , the patio is medium sized but as a group of 4 we had to wait a while got a table (there were quite a few 2 and 3 tops). My sister and I had lunch here yesterday after a long mountain drive from SE Colorado. We need a place that was vegetarian friendly (me), pet friendly as we had a well-behaved dog with us, and shady for all of us. The lady at the front of the house found us a perfect spot and Lukas, our server, mentioned in other reviews, turned out to be her son. Food was very decent, I had a black bean burger with cheese and fries, my sister had a BLT which had enough bacon for both her and our mascot/pet. There were several dogs there at the time, and Lukas brought our boy a bowl of water. I can say for sure that this place was the high point of our very brief visit to Taos, brief mainly because there was lots of construction and we didn't want to drive at night on mountain roads. I highly recommend Bent St. Grill for lots of reasons. read more
