When I say sincerity, I mean the long line of empty taps, waiting for dozens of tap handles to screw-in the makings of a Westside brew bar. I mean, an Owner like Michael Goot steering and educating his fresh staff on the science & love of beer; while getting his feet wet (with a smile) in the daily runnings of his baby - Ormby's. I mean a whimsical menu of corn-dogs & cotton-candy, highlighted by the most delicious onion rings I have ever tasted. I mean, a bodacious game cave featuring 3 dart boards, 2 pool tables, an indoor bocce ball court and a photo booth. How the frickity-frack have I not reviewed this place yet? I go here alllll the time, and I drag all of my new Atlanta transplant friends here, and they all go back because of me, and they bring their friends, and the circle continues... This is totally one of my favorite bars in the city, hands down. The bartenders are some of the best ever, the food is quite good (for pub food), and for heaven's sake, there's SKEE-BALL!!!! At which I'm awesome. Don't ever play me, you will LOSE. Admittedly, the patrons of this place aren't really my kind of people. Mostly popped collars and suits. Doesn't matter. I'd still go here every day. And you know what? The more drinks those suits get in them, the nicer and more chatty they get. So all's well that ends well. I've had a burger here, which was scrumptious, and I usually get some sort of chicken wrap with sprouts and avocado and bacon, and it blows me away every time. The sriracha mayo is divine, the ketchup here is suspiciously good, the onion rings are crazy yum, the soft pretzels are TDF... what's not to love? The bathrooms are clean, there are bars upstairs and downstairs (for the drinkers like me, who open tabs at both of them simultaneously with two separate cards.... LUSH). It's got a beautiful interior, in all seriousness. I've even eaten here on a Saturday late morning... when the sun streams in through the upstairs bar window, right onto your beer and your food... it's like Jesus is saying "your transgressions from last night are forgiven. drink up, chump." The very first bar that I went to in my life was at Ormsby's. My perception of bars were pretty negative before I actually went to one, but Ormsby's changed that since it was absolutely wonderful. The best part of it is that there are so many activities to do: darts, skeeball, billards, board games, checkers/backgammon, and bocce ball. For someone who prefers to stay sober, this is great. LAYOUT 1. Walk up to the Ormsby's door and let the bouncer check your ID & get stamped. 2. Choose to sit upstairs or downstairs. 3. If you choose to sit upstairs, there's the bar area, booths, or a few tables. 4. If you choose to sit downstairs, there's a few tables, or a back room that is more quiet and intimate. 5. Order some drinks and grub, and go play games! FOOD - Their fries are pretty decent and have plenty of sauces to choose from. The favorite among my friends is the sriracha mayo. - The onion rings are MASSIVE. It is actually too much onion to batter ratio, in my opinion, and harder to eat. But they are tasty. - Corn dog appetizers with sriracha mayo. This is hands down my new favorite appetizer. It comes with 4 thick cuts of legit sausage (not the small Oscar Meyer ones) covered in delicious batter. The mayo gives it a nice kick. - The eggplant parm sandwich was soft and flavorful, and my vegetarian friend loved it. It comes with spinach, roasted tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese on fluffy focaccia bread. - The Cubano sandwich had pork loin, ham, swiss and provolone cheese, with mustard on a pressed hoagie roll. It pork was flavorful, but it was a little dry in my opinion. I needed to douse it in the mojo sauce. - The pesto chicken wrap was a healthy alternative for dinner since it had plenty of vegetables inside. However, I couldn't taste the pesto which is disappointing, because that's why I ordered the wrap. SERVICE The waitress was very attentive and split our checks perfectly even after we gave her a vague answer for how we wanted to handle the check. We were impressed. So what's a guy gonna do after a way cool Yelp Elite party? Since I was following the crowd, I guess come here. After getting a little lost trying to find the place (Pinij and I ended up down the street near Star Provisions) we eventually made our way to the 3rd floor of the parking deck and ran into a couple more folks from the previous party. Apparently I missed the memo where having less signs makes it easier for customers to find you. We dodged the rain as best as we could and got to the front door only to be told we had to wait. Pinij must have flirted with the door guy because he got in before me. I sent him with specific instructions to order me a drink and by the time I made it in he had already consumed it. Hmm... During my search for him I checked out the entire space and ended up in a corner downstairs with Gretchen O. No, she didn't take advantage of me (I may have made a grab at her, but I digress...). By the way, is it just me or does it seem like there's a gang hustling bocce ball down there?!? #justsayin After that I headed back upstairs where I found him. We were by the door and decided we'd leave so more people could get in (yeah, that's the reason). I was expecting something a little more laid back and I guess it's our own fault for planning for a big crowd to meet here. I don't think this is my type of place and I'm okay with that. Ormsby's is the latest and greatest place to be in Atlanta. I know this because they were already one in/one out at 9:30 last Saturday night! I think this place is such a hot spot because - once you find it, that is - it appeals to all audiences and types of people, from the frat stars to the hipsters. I mean, come on, who doesn't like bocce ball, shuffle board and a variety of craft beers? We stayed the entire night and made the rounds playing various games and having a few beers. I plan to come back here time and again for happy hours, nights out and maybe even for dinner next time, as long as there isn't an hour and a half wait - but good things are worth waiting for, right? Finally had the chance to stop by Ormsby's on a Saturday night for drinks with friends and I was happy that I did. It was packed on Saturday, more busy downstairs with all the games scattered around the lower level. The wait for bocce can be a few hours depending on the night is what my friend who frequents Ormsby's tells me. There's even a waiting list to sign up to play bocce. AMBIANCE: You can find this bar underneath the stairs in the Westside Provision area across from Yeah! Burger. Very chill environment with lots of games to choose from that would keep your entire party entertained. There are TVs as well. I would consider upstairs to be more of a dining area while downstairs for games and drinking even though you can eat downstairs. I paid $10 for parking, but I think if I came earlier, like 10PM, the parking deck would still have parking lots available. On Saturday nights, they stay open til 3am and the kitchen is still open as well! We were not planning to eat, but we did eventually get the munchies after the few drinks we had: FOOD: - Hand Cut Fries || the fries came with the choice of two dipping sauces and I chose sweet chili aioli and lemon aioli. The fries were crispy and a great appetizer to share with friends over drinks and board games. The sauces are what made this appetizer so great. Our server had suggested the sweet chili aioli so I ordered that and it was the best dipping sauce out of all the dishes that we ordered. The sweet chili aioli tastes like the hibachi sauce, Yum Yum or Yellow Sauce and it is slightly spicy. The lemon aioli taste like what it sounds like -- lemon and it is kind of sour. This was the best dish for the night. - Sliced Hand-Dipped Corn Dog || four crispy mini corn dogs on sticks with a sriracha mayo dipping sauce. This meal is great for sharing as there are four. I was tired eating them after 2 corn dogs though so definitely share this order. No one was hungry to eat the rest of mine :( I would consider this an okay appetizer. - Crispy Calamari || This calamari order came mixed with fried popcorn shrimp and spinach, roasted tomatoes, and the sweet chili aioli dipping sauce. Great for sharing as there is a variety to choose to munch on, however, it isn't the BEST calamari I've ever had though. It was an okay appetizer. SERVICE: The bar area is packed so expect to wait; however, I did notice that the bartenders keep track of who was next in "line" so that they don't skip over. Great service through our server as she checked up on us and brought us drinks.If someone made a mess by throwing up or breaking glass, an employee was VERY quick in cleaning up the mess and thank you for dealing with this mess too as I saw some pretty gross things from people. Ormsby's is where adults go to be a Toys R' Us kid again. The board games and extensive beer list represents our defiance to grow up.... well at least for a night of tomfoolery. Pulling up to the place, Ormsby's has a great location. It is almost secretive like a speakeasy and runs below ground. Then heading to the bar and opening the menu, one will have heir eyes open with glee when they see their beer list. This bar has a fantastic, long list of beers. Anything from IPA's to Belgian beers, Ormsby's has it all including my favorite beer, St. Bernadus Abt 12, on tap. It is a must try and is a compromising beer between beer lovers and haters. The games at Ormsby's really make this bar stand out from other local bars. The variety of games are outstanding. Bocce ball, shuffleboard, skeet ball ( I think its called that and my mind is not in the gutter), and boardgames: knockoff Jenga, (I will call it Junga), Connect 4, Apples to Apples, Cranium, and much more. There are just too many to list. It is the best place for games at a bar I have seen in all my travels. An added plus about the games is they are well maintained unlike many other places that try to do the same idea. Just a few tips about Ormsby's: First it gets really crowded, so get there early for the shuffleboard and bocce ball courts and second, you will be instantly timemachined back to your college days. While not really my scene, I was excited to return to Ormsby's to try the food as all my previous visits were liquid only visits. The beer and wine lists at this place are solid. There is something for everyone from the guy who will only drink Stella, to the girl seeking out something new. As a non beer drinker I have been pleased with all the glasses of wine I've had and most of the stars I'm giving the place are for the drinks. Ormsby's runs into trouble when it comes to the food. For bites I had the pimento cheese and corn fritters, the Madison (grilled cheese with bacon and tomato) and a salad. The one thing missing from all dishes was seasoning, seasoning, seasoning!!!! The bites were bland and only started coming to life when I added salt and pepper. I can't imagine how yummy they would be with other seasoning. Also there seemed to be some kitchen delays, as I was sitting at the upstairs bar close to the kitchen, and every dish came out lukewarm. Overall I prefer the downstairs bar due to the energy of being around all the games, and the better service. I'll still go there to drink but I don't think I'll be eating much of anything. read more

Aaaaa, Ormsby's... After a few trips back over the last month or so, I'm starting to get a good sense of the place. Friday and Saturday nights, it's PACKED and you should expect to wait a while for a drink or food. But you'll have a great time and meet some good folks. Worth the wait and squeezing through the crowds. The sandwiches are delish, and I can't get enough of the fries and onion rings. I'm glad they have a good selection of draft and bottle beers, and they're wine list ain't too shaby either. Service is great, even when it's busy. You can tell the servers know what they're doing. Even if things are a little crazy in there, everyone keeps a smile on and takes good care of you. The bartender (maybe also the owner?) has made a point several times of thanking the group I usually go with on Sunday nights after church for coming in and being consistent business for them. I think it's awesome when restauranteurs recognize it's a two way street, and that they need us as much as we 'need' them. Just tried Ormsby's last weekend and am thinking about going back again tonight. I will agree with the other reviews in that it was extremely crowded, especially since it was raining the night I went, but I still think it was great. First, I really like the fact that it is hidden. It makes it seem that much cooler than not everyone knows exactly what or where it is (I know that's a little lame, but that's ok). [For all of you searching for it, it's actually under the stairs of Room and Board]. My favorite part of the place has to be the downstairs area where they have bocce ball, pool, darts, and quarter arcade games! There was quite a line for the bocce ball, but it was still fun to watch even if we didn't get to play. The rest of the games were pretty packed too - I'm not sure how early you have to get there if you want to play. We got there at 10:30 and it was crazy! Their food looked and smelled delicious, although I didn't have a chance to try any of it. However, their beer was good and they had a decent beer menu to try. My one complaint is that they started to run out of many of their beers not that late into the night. I will definitely be going back again. The absolute WORST service I've ever had in my life! I came in with a group of women. We weren't treated with respect. We were neglected most of the night. And our waitress was extremely rude. Her name is Allison L. We waited for an hour before she took our drink orders. Waited another hour before she took our food order. (It was not busy when we first arrived) The entire time she would huff and puff and give such an attitude when we would ask questions. On our way out she shoved my friend and I aside. I mean, she didn't gently nudge us, or say excuse me, she pushed us! I mean overall, the food wasn't bad. The drinks either. It was extremely loud, but that wasn't a big deal. But, i don't know... I'm not coming back again. And several of the women in my group said the same. We have all worked in the service industry at some point in our lives and this was just UNEXCEPTABLE. read more

If you're visiting ATL (or if you are a native), and looking for a chill atmosphere to have a good time with a large group or even just a few friends, Ormsby's should be your go-to. We came as a post-graduation hangout for my boyfriend's sister who just graduated from college. Her and her friends decided on this awesome place, and I'm so glad we came along. There are two floors.. upstairs is for food service, and downstairs is kind of a big playroom, with a full bar and I think you can order food here as well, but I'm not sure. Anyhow, the games were fantastic. They have several pool tables, a few skee ball machines, two dart walls, and la piece de resistance, the bocce ball courts. I've never seen that in an indoor space, so that was wildly very awesome. They've also got a photobooth, but I'd stay away from it because the photo quality is pretty low-grade. Instead, spend some time trying to get that metal ring into the hook on the wall, which is right by the bar (you won't miss it). It takes some time, but with the right technique, you'll feel so satisfied when you finally get it! An hour or so flew right by before we left, and we had a really good time while the youngin's stayed to celebrate their graduation with a scandalous game of Apples-to-Apples (smart kids). And yes! They have board games! To boot, the area this place is situated in, is very quaint. There are other shops and boutiques around the neighborhood that seems very interesting, or at least familiar (Jack Space, Lululemon, etc).. It was SO crowded last night that it was hard to move around and assembling a large group of post-elite-event yelpers was impossible. There were several positive points for us despite the packed atmosphere: 1) They have Ginger BEER so the bartender made me a mighty fine Moscow Mule and even happily put it in a tall glass with a little extra ginger beer at my request. This was the best Moscow Mule I have had in Atlanta! 2) Food was good! I tried a Chicago style hot dog and the hand cut fries. The fries were quite flavorful and the crispiness factor held up even after they cooled off. The siracha mayonnaise was awesome! Next time I will try the tallegio fondue but my date doesn't eat cheese (I know!) so I wanted to try sauces we would both enjoy. 3) Bartenders were friendly and efficient, but there was a bit of a screw up with the check folio which I did not realize had been laid on the bar before the food arrived and there was a few moments of confusion and panic later where they couldn't find it (or the enclosed debit card!) It was behind the bar, so all is well that ended well. I would happily go back, but maybe on a weeknight instead when it will be less crowded and I will want to stay longer as I really want to try the cotton candy or caramel corn and check out the free bocce ball downstairs! read more

I need to go back here to play sometime, but meeting a client/friend here for lunch at the bar proved to be enough to know I'm a fan of Ormsby's. I love parking on the Star Provisions side of Westside and walking across the bridge, it's one of those historic/lofty/walking communities that was well planned and executed and while Ormsby's can be hard to find if you don't know where you're going it's fun finding it :). As far as the food goes I won't be coming on a regular basis since it's really a place I choose to steer more towards the comfort foods...I mean, they have corn dogs. Mind you they're more expensive than the corn dog guy at the Starlight Drive-In (who has some of the best corn dogs ever), but they are slightly gourmet and all kinds of awesome! TIP: They will cut them up into smaller pieces and fry each separately for those sharing :). Got the burger with homemade cheezewiz for lunch and it was really a great burger, not too fancy, but all of the dipping sides you can get are great. The service was super-friendly and the owner/manager came over a couple of times. It wasn't super busy, but we were there early for lunch and the crowd was growing. Great hangout spot. First you gotta find the door. It's not super hidden but, it's not super obvious either. Upstairs is more of the restaurant type of spot, and then downstairs it can be quite the party. I've been downstairs on chill and loud days. On busy days, downstairs isn't the place for an intimate hangout, but a party and drink. There's hella random games (if you've been to painted pin before it's similar) a photo booth and then a few nooks to house a couple of big groups. They do reservations but only after a certain time. And specify the backrooms. That way you can still chill and talk but walk out to the games and then come back. Good beer menu, and food menu. I liked the turkey burger. Big portion. Definitely a nice spot to come hangout. There's a parking garage by the restaurant and other restaurants that stay open late if you are just looking to go there for party or drinks. The atmosphere is funly-sophisticated and packed with great socializing tools for those in need of a little help :). At the 1:20 mark, we checked the status of sitting and learned that 'another group was ahead of us' and that group had just been sat. Regardless if this is true or not, the host should have mentioned that as part of informing us we'd be waiting over an hour. It's unacceptable, and I won't return. read more

I did not expect this place to be so crowded.. It's fairly new, not to mention so difficult to find, yet people seem to love it... We walked in with a mob of people, tried to navigate our way through a mob of people, and then had to stand in a corner to wait over an hour for a table.. in the meantime, I saw plenty of drunk stumbling people, which was fairly amusing. Yes, it's nice to have games and a photobooth (which I never found with the mass of people blocking everything). Yes, I'm sure this place is fun when you can actually sit and talk and relax, but we were clearly going to get none of that when we went on a Saturday night, esp post-Yelp event (which was awesome, btw). We eventually called it quits and left before we got a table. It made us all a bit cranky. If I ever go here again, it would only be on a weekday, and since I start work at 7am on weekdays, I don't know when that'll happen. read more

Went there for lunch today and I had no idea that it even existed... which is expected I guess considering the fact that the place doesn't have signs. So after walking around aimlessly for about 10 minutes, I finally stumbled across a door with a big "O" on it. The restaurant itself is really clean, open, and nice. The bars (one upstairs and down) are large and well stocked (there are a lot of beers on tap also). The downstairs area looks more like an adult play ground than a bar - darts, pool, shuffle board, etc... - all well done. I had the chicken wrap with sweet potato fries and I have to admit the entire meal was pleasantly tastey. The waitress was awesome and the entire experience was very positive. The only drawback, not that it was a factor today, is crowd size. Apparently things can get intense there once the Ga Tech crowd is back on campus. read more

All the games downstairs are really what makes this stand out for me. From board games, to arcades, to mini shuffleboard, and Bocce ball. This is a haven for entertainment. I too don't know why Ormbys only has 3.5 stars. I've been twice- once just to drink and hang out and once to eat. The drink prices are reasonable and they have different craft beers on tap. They have games downstairs like bocce, skee ball, etc. It is a fun atmosphere. The food is also worth going for. I had the shrimp tacos which were delicious. My friend had the lamb burger and mac and cheese, which she also loved. Another friend got a sandwich (I don't remember which one) that came with homemade sweet potato chips which were incredible! I was looking for a perfect sort of after work (or mid-day) pub. Somewhere that's got good ambiance -- not Chili's or TGIFs or any of those other corporate mass-produced faux pubs -- but something that was accessible. Ormsby's is the perfect combination. It's in West Midtown in a non-descript location. (Look for the O on the door.) It's a perfect dark sort of ambiance that will fit your corporate crowd and want to do something fun crowd. There are bocci courts, pool tables and darts, but without the smoky atmosphere that comes with that sort of place. The food -- fish and chips -- and extensive beer menu make this a perfect afterwork place to go, if you are looking for something fun and has a great vibe. read more

Pros: Good food, friendly service Cons: Long wait, crowded This is not the place for a nice quiet dinner. Going on Saturday night is a huge mistake if you're super hungry. We have to wait for about 2 hours to be seated. There are games downstairs but you have to wait in line since everyone and their mom is there. We chilled at the bar so the it wasn't so terrible, the food made up for it. Apple fritters and maple cotton candy for dessert topped it off. Parking is in a garage across the street. Been here a few times, have not reviewed yet. I will split this up into categories. Also, caveat, I have only been there on a Sunday and about 3 Thursdays. Layout/Atmosphere - I like it. Very cool building, retained a lot of the original look. Great split between restaurant upstairs and bar/games downstairs. Great tables, etc. Games - I was blown away by the two indoor bocce ball courts. SO awesome! Also darts, shuffleboard and pool. Played darts and bocce. Not sure how signing up or anything for bocce works, but the court was open, so we played. A friggin blast! Drinks - Good beer selection. Good drinks selection too, as there were some specials when we were there. Reasonably priced. Food - Not a huge selection, but it is really good. I have had the burger twice and a hot dog, and all were fantastic. Also had the onion rings with various dips and the cheddar and scallion fritters. Great onion rings, and I like the variety of dips/sauces, like Leon's in Decatur. The missus had the herb roasted chicken special recently and spoke very highly of it. My only ding against them is I would like to see more variety and some lighter faire perhaps? Crowd - Not bad on the nights I have been, but I trust some friends who went last Saturday and vowed never to go on a weekend again. They said it was hell upstairs and downstairs and they could barely walk. Heard it was a douchey crowd. Also said some bimbo knocked an entire drink on a friend of theirs as she drunkenly shasayed by, and gave a quick "sorry" and headed on. Um, buy him another maybe?? Overall - I like this place for a during the week dinner or games. Fun atmosphere, the games rock, etc. And the food, while not a huge variety, is very good. This review is long overdue but honestly, it had to be done. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars (would be 2.5) was because of our amazing waiter and the atmosphere. Ormsby is definitely a great place to drink and goof off, but for the food, that is probably the most disappointing part of the establishment. I went there for my birthday dinner and everyone in my party walked away unsatisfied by the food. My friend and I ordered the crusted trout and the trout was under seasoned and the spaghetti squash and sauce that accompanied it was sour and very acidic. My boyfriend ordered a steak and asked that it be cooked medium. It came to us and it was definitely rare. If you are paying for something and specify the cooking temperature, it needs to be correctly. That is like me asking for an egg over easy and getting it fried. 2 others ordered burgers and fries as sides. The burgers were not cooked to their specifications and about 70% of the fries were burnt. We were shocked that they even allowed it to be plated. I grabbed the attention of our waiter (who was beyond understanding and hospitable) and informed him of this. Apparently this was not the first time he had had guests bring this up and it was the 5th time he heard this that night. He informed us that the fries are composed of two different types of potatoes and they have different cooking times, one of which cooks faster than the other (the fries that were burnt). I'm not a chef but I am the daughter of one, I love to cook, and I love to eat. But I don't lack good sense. You would think that if one potato cooks faster than the other, the chef would have them cooked separately and then combine them. Even the waiter said this would make more sense. But apparently the chef doesn't care for the opinions of his guests, resulting in the lackluster and disappointing food that they serve. I honestly should have gone to JCT and I felt bad that I subjected my friends to the food of Ormsby. As I said, you can go there to drink, play games, and socialize, but definitely not for the food. I too followed the crowd after the yelp event to visit this place. It was incredibly packed, which is expected on a weekend day. The food was delivered out hot, but it was VERY salty. The Beef Dip tasted like it was dipped in salt, and the au jus was more salt and the fries were salty. I could only eat the meet with a fork, as the rest was a no go. Our server was good, they messed up and sat us a lot quicker, which no complaints there. Drinks were strong, not too bad, but not a place I would probably go back too, a bit overly crowded. Sadly, the success of this "speakeasy" has become it's failure. Ormsbys used to be my favorite bar in Atlanta because of the various activities offered inside. However, every time I go nowadays, it's a hassle to simply walk around, which also means even more hassle for any game play. I thought I would try going early (9pm) in hopes of a smaller crowd. We waited upstairs for a table for 2 hours!! Admittedly, it wasn't the staff's fault for their lingering customers hogging a table. However, an apology or gratitude for our patience would have been nice. Our waiter simply said "it's like this every night." The food and drinks are better than your average bar - so 2 stars for that! But the overall experience is shot. I can no longer recommend this place for a weekend hangout, especially with so many other options in Atlanta. If you must, try visiting on a weekday. I usually try to visit a place twice before reviewing, but I guess I'll go ahead and drop my first impression. I'm always impressed by a lengthy beer list so I definitely have to give them points for that. The service at the bar was good, but I would've liked to see better table service. The atmosphere is pretty interesting...to be frank it feels like its where Georgia Tech's frat boys go to die (everyone ~ late 20s early 30s)..but nothing wrong with that. The game concept is very cool, but considering the wait for bocce or darts maybe they could've expanded even more than what they have now?? Just a thought... I'll definitely have to give this place a second visit before making my final judgement, but there's definitely a lot of potential. read more

Went to Ormsby's for the first time last night at the suggestion of my brother for his birthday. There were 8 of us in our group and we had made reservations ahead of time so we were seated right away. It went down hill after that. It took the waitress a while to take our drink order, which she did in sections because we all didn't show up at the same time. The appetizers took a while to come out, and while tasty, they had the feeling of having been sitting on the counter in the kitchen waiting to go out for just a little too long. Me and my wife finished our first drink and wanted to order another one. Our waitress wasn't coming around at all to check on us, so we waited, and waited, and waited. Finally I got up and went to the bar to place our drink order and skip the middle man. They were just tapping a new keg of my wife's drink and said it would be a few minutes and they were out of what I wanted. I went back to the table dejected and needless to say never got another drink. Then our food finally came out....in sections. 2 plates here, another plate 3 minutes later, 2 more plates 5 minutes after that and then almost 10 minutes after that for the final plate to come out, by which time 50% of the people were done eating at our table. We spoke with the manager and she said they were unusually busy for a Wednesday night, but that's not much of an excuse for the level of service we received. The food overall was good, my burger had good flavor, but it too, like the appetizers, tasted like it had been waiting in the window for a while to be picked up. My final impression, I will more than likely not be returning to eat here again. read more

We ordered the salmon sandwich which was sub par on wonderbread and she ordered a caprese sandwich that she thought came with chicken. She didn't want it. We asked the waitress if she could substitute and she said no. She got the manager and he blamed it on us. He said "I didn't do anything wrong this is what you ordered and I've never heard of a caprese sandwich with chicken." So it's my fault?? It's never the customers fault! Restaurant 101 dude. All she wanted was a substitute! That wasn't my first bad experience there! One time the bartender cursed me out for asking for a different beer and the manager took up for the bartender!!! Ormsby's is a really fun, laid back spot to grab drinks after work, get a quick bite and some tasty microbrews, or gather with a huge group of friends for a fun night out (into the wee hours, if you're into it). Take notes from other reviews on how to find it, it's a hidden "gem" unless you know where to look. I loved that last time I was there, they had McSorley's brews on tap (served genuinely like the NYC iconic bar does, with two mugs per order) - definitely give it a taste if you like dark beer! They have an impressive beer selection, full bar and friendly bartenders. The prices are really reasonable. The food is extremely pub worthy. Nothing over the top, but good, greasy options that are sure to please anyone who enjoys this type of fare. The pimento cheese fritters & corn fritters are cheesy balls of fried good-ness that maybe have one or two kernels of corn per bite (maybe - and no, I'm NOT complaining) - so they are unique - and so delicious! But if you're expecting a true corn fritter (and in NY, we know how to do a corn fritter), don't bother. I haven't tasted much in terms of entrees, but the food isn't pricey and the portions are plentiful. The games are so fun, perfect bar past times that allow for friends to play and chat and drink and catch up. The place definitely packs people in and can get loud, but on a regular night around happy hour time, you're basically guaranteed to get a bocce court if you're up for playing...
